Golive 6 + Dynamic Content + PHP + MySQL = ERROR

  • PHP MySQL Error Code 500

    May be someone can help me out with this problem.
    I have setup a new site using PHP MySQL and Dreamweaver 8.02.
    Dreamweaver connects to the database but after creating a
    recordset the recordset cannot be used.
    instead Dreamweaver returns:
    HTTP Error Code 500 internal Server Error
    Any help will be much appriciated.
    Jos

    Hello,
    I have also had the same error - namely that whilst I could connect via ftp, upload/download files, and view database tables, any attempt to view of modify recordsets resulted in error 500.
    Having checked other potential causes (e.g. selection/non-selection use of passive FTP setting, enabling of php, etc.), on the back of posts here I contacted my host and asked if if could relate to mod security, as further investigation revealed that the issue only occurred on sites where mod security had not been disabled (I don't like to disable mod security for obvious reasons - and I'm told you can't do that site by site with apache2 anyway).
    After a few false starts, the problem was resolved - with the following response from my host: "The false positives were being generated by "/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php" and that is what we've worked around in the rules. As such, any domain on [servername] using that script in the same way shouldn't generate a false-positive moving forward."
    So it seems the answer (assuming your on an apache server of course) may be to modify the rules to allow full access for MMHTTPDB.php.
    I hope that is of help to some.

  • PHP/MySql Error Message

    I've posted this before and didn't get the answer that I need, probably because I didn't post all of my codes. I am using PHP/MySql.  I created a website that has several forms.  When I process three of the forms, I get the error messages below:
    You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Condition, Length, Color, City, `State`, Email, Photo) VALUES ('29', '4', 'Used'' at line 1.
    Below I am posting the codes.  Hopefully, this time I posted everything that I should have so that I can get assistance.

    Hi David,
    I did as you recommended. For good measure, I even changed the case of the letters to make sure that they coincide with exactly what's in the database.  I still kept getting the same error message.  So I deleted the recordset and attempted to recreate it.  When I attempted to recreate the record set, I got the following error message: "RangeError: invalid array length".  My codes are listed below:

  • Dynamic Dropdown / PHP / MySQLi / Javascript Problem

    I have 2 pages, namely main.html and list.php The Main Pageincludes the following code and consists of a dropdown that i want to pull some database records into by calling the function fillCategory contained in list.php
    Content on main.html
    <!doctype html public "-//w3c//dtd html 3.2//en">
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Page Title</title>
    <script language="javascript" src="list.php"></script>
    </head>
    <body bgcolor="#ffffff" text="#000000" link="#0000ff" vlink="#800080" alink="#ff0000" onload="fillCategory();">
    <FORM name="drop_list" action="yourpage.php" method="POST" >
    <SELECT NAME="Category" >
    <Option value="">Category</option>
    </SELECT>
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    Content of list.php
    <?php
    require_once('mysqli_connect.php');
    echo "
    function fillCategory(
    $q="select * from category";
    echo mysqli_error($dbc);
    $r=@mysqli_query($dbc,$q);
    while($row=mysqli_fetch_array($r,MYSQLI_ASSOC)){
    echo "addOption(document.drop_list.Category, '$row[cat_id]', '$row[category]');";
    ?>
    I know that records are being pulled from the MySQL database since when i view 127.0.0.1/list.php i can see the following diplayed on the page:
    function fillCategory( addOption(document.drop_list.Category, '1', 'Sport');addOption(document.drop_list.Category, '2', 'Music');addOption(document.drop_list.Category, '3', 'Art');
    which are the contents (Sport, Music, Art) that i'd like to appear in my dropdown. However, i suspect that i shouldn't see the above being displayed in list.php Instead, it should probably be passed to main.html "unseen". Can anyone point out the probable error in my syntax. I can provide more detail on the database structure if it will help.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    I think that this is the line in error:
    <script language="javascript" src="list.php"></script>
    The <script> tag is generally used to include client-side script. I believe that PHP will recognize on the server-side, but you need to change "javascript" to "php". You may want to use a PHP include or require statement, instead.
    Also, you might need to remove the "<?php" and "?>" delimiters from list.php.

    Randy

  • Can't connect PHP/MySQL 404 error

    Wow, the learning curve is killing me. Yet another challenge. I'm using Dreamweaver CC and this tutorial http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_php.html
    I'm at this step:
    Open comments.php. You must have a PHP page open in the Document window to create a MySQL connection.
    In the Databases panel (choose Window > Databases), click the Plus button on the panel and select MySQL Connection.The MySQL Connection dialog box appears.
    Type connTest as the connection name.
    For the MySQL Server, type localhost.If you are using the MAMP default ports on a Mac, use localhost:8889.
    For the User Name, type phptestuser.
    Type the password you chose for the phptestuser account in the Password field.
    For the Database, type php_test.Note: You don't need to precede the underscore with a backslash here. It was inserted by phpMyAdmin in the previous section (see Figure 20) only because phpMyAdmin uses a query that permits wildcard characters.
    Click Test.Dreamweaver attempts to connect to the database. If the connection fails, do the following:
    Double-check the server name, user name, and password.
    Check the settings for the folder Dreamweaver uses to process dynamic pages (see Specifying a Testing Server for Dreamweaver).
    Verify that the web and MySQL servers are both running.
    Temporarily disable any firewall or security program. If the connection works, you need to configure the security program to permit communication between Dreamweaver and MySQL.
    Click OK. The new connection appears in the Databases panel.
    Expand the connTest connection, and then expand the Tables branch. You'll see the comments table in the database, which you can expand to reveal the details of the table columns (see Figure 23).
    As far as I can tell I have followed this tutorial to the letter.
    As far as I can tell, XAMPP/php mySQL are all running fine, the files are in the correct place and everything should be working. However when I hit test I get a 404 error. (Same error when I hit the select button.)
    The suggested problems on the 404 message are:
    1. There is no testing server running on the server machine.
    Pretty sure the testing server is running. Is there any way to test this, other than to note that xampp is definitely running right now and that I can log into phpMYadmin no problem?
    2. The testing server specified for this site does not map to the http://localhost/php_test/_MMServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php URL Verify that the URL Prefix maps to the root of the site.
    Ummm...I'm pretty sure I put things where I was told to put them in the tutorial, but I'm lost at this point where I should verify what. A clue here? The files are where they are supposed to be, but maybe I entered something wrong? Except...I'm not sure what that could be or where to find it. Whatever IT is.
    Everything in local files is looking good.
    Thanks for your help!
    PS: Extra points to anyone who figures out how to make copy/pasteable error messages! These buggers are the bane of my life!

    Bgupta, you rock!
    I hope you have copied the "mysql.php" and "MMHTTPDB.php" files from "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC\locale\Configuration\Connections\Scripts\PHP_MySQL\_mmDBScripts" to "C:\xampp\htdocs\phptest\_mmServerScripts"
    This was EXACTLY the problem. I checked the tutorial and I couldn't even find where the tutorial said to do this. (If I missed it, let me know where in the tutorial it was, please.)
    Fixed!

  • Generating Content Dynamically with PHP

    Good day everyone!
    I know this is possible but I do not know how to do it.
    I have a single page, this page has no dynamic content.
    I have a set of links. What I need is to have content placed on the page based on the link the user clicks.
    Example: I have pictures of animals. When the user click a Zebra, the Zebra info is placed on the page.
    So the page does not change, meaning the content on the page changes but not the page it self.
    The  idea is instead of creating different html pages for each animal  profile, the profile is generated to the page from a php include file.
    Is is this possible?
    Can anyone, some one please point me to how I can get this going.
    Thanks everyone!
    Patrick

    Thanks again, every project provides me an opportunity to learn new things, this time it will be using Dreamweaver for Dynamic Pages.
    I have a masive catalog of books and will also read on the link you posted.
    Thanks again for your valuable help!

    Günter Schenk wrote:
    Hi Patrick,
    thanks for clarifying the requirements.
    It´s in particular the "click on a Zebra link to display the respective information" specification which requires that the data (animal description, animal image, animal species etc) needs to be available as "separate logical units", because you´ll need one particular unit (e.g. an species such as "zebra" ) to filter your collection of animal info for a specific set.
    I am not sure I can place all the information in one file, is that possible?
    How could you query the static contents of that file for what exactly you want to see displayed ? Once the information related to your "logical units" are stored in a MySQL database table, this is going to be a snap, and as your scenario is not that complicated, you´ll see that Dreamweaver´s Server Behaviours are of great value when querying the database and applying the desired filter.
    It´s clear that this is virgin soil to you, and it will take a little while to familiarize yourself with the basics -- but fortunately you´ll find many well-written PHP&MySQL related tutorials in Adobe´s Dreamweaver Developer Center

  • Adding PHP pages, not showing dynamic content?

    Hi all,
    I'm new and hoping I don't get ripped apart for a question that seems simple. I've looked a lot though and can't seem to find an exact scenario like this. I recently took over a PHP site for a friend that was built in Dreamweaver CS3.
    There's a master page (main.php) that includes a header and footer and middle area of dynamic content. Thus, all of the pages appear like: http://www.SITENAME.com/main.php?mod=about (for the 'about' page) or www.SITENAME.com/main.php?mod=welcome (for the landing/home page), etc.
    In main.php, there's a section of: // Include Multiple Static Pages that looks like this:
    $mxiObj->IncludeStatic("about", "about.php");
    for every static page.
    All of this makes sense to me. Here's my problem:
    When adding a new page now, I can't get it to show any of the dynamic content on the live site. I just get the static header and footer to show.
    In the main.php file, there's this section:
    </div>
      <div id="mainContent">
        <p>
          <?php
      $incFileName = $mxiObj->getCurrentInclude();
      if ($incFileName !== null)  {
        mxi_includes_start($incFileName);
        require(basename($incFileName)); // require the page content
        mxi_includes_end();
    ?></p>
    </div>
    that's supposed to pull in the dynamic content. It's doing this just fine on the older pages, but not on the ones I'm trying to build now.
    I guess I'm asking if there's some type of file in an 'includes' folder that I'm missing where I need to make sure the FileName is also listed (not just in the static section on main.php)? What's the mising link that will get this dynamic content to show up?
    Thanks for any help in advance and for reading this!

    The quickest way to add new pages is to
    copy the template (index.php) to a new document (newdoc.php or similar)
    remove the PHP stuff - stuff that is not required for the new content
    if there are inludes for the menu, header, footer or similar, then you can link those back into the document using standard includes
    add the new content to the newly created document
    This will give you a stand-alone document. At a later stage you can convert these documents into a DW-template system.

  • PHP dynamic content for form list field on tabbed panel

    I have been trying to use PHP dynamic content to populate a
    form list field. Works fine on a regular page, but doesn't seem to
    work (or works very erratically) if the form is on a tab of a Spry
    tabbed panel. Erratically means (as I've observed) the values will
    appear if the list field is the second on a tab but not the first.
    Haven't tried three on a tab... Anyone know if this is supposed to
    work?

    Thank You !!! to both of you above.
    Shant,
    The scheme youv'e proposed makes sense and I had thought of the same before posting the question. I already did a little POC on it but then realised this works if I can use complete list of values of 1st Field to decide the value of 2nd and so forth. But I rather need to know which one among those was clicked. Moreover, my right side list is usually not null when page loads for the first time (bcoz Field name is a path exp).
    Also, the real problem here is that, when I click on different values on the right side of multi-select(already selected values) of 1st Field, allowedValues and Derivation of 2nd should change. That GUI event is not capturable from whatever I've been able to read (onClick is not applicable for MultiSelect, and onChange doesn't serve my purpose, coz I need to know what value was clicked on).
    The solution I thought and implemented was to take the right side of multi-select, into an extra (read redundant), single-select Field. And then have the 2nd multi-select depend on it via Derivation and allowedValues.
    Having two redundant single-selects, isn't the most elegant solution but I can't think of anything better. Any thoughts ???
    If I'm not really overlooking something MultiSelect class should have an extra Property exposed....

  • Macromedia Dreamweaver "Unidentified Error" PHP MySQL, help please

    Ok,
    I've been developing web applications with with PHP/MySQL for some time now, but had been unable to afford dreamweaver to help me out. Thus every website I made came from strait "notepad" style typeing. Everything always worked just fine. Recently though I got my hands on Macromedia Studio MX, but have been having troubles ever since then.
    I wrote my own PHP script to connect to my MySQL database on my computer (localhost), and it worked like a charm. Then I went over to dreamweaver, followed all the steps, entered the information, clicked the "test" button and I get the an error "an unidentified error occured".
    At this point I checked everything tried again, and then that rendered the same result, I went online and found the same problem at Macromedia's webstie: http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_16515
    I've tried everything mentioned there to no avail. I was hopeing someone out there would know what is wrong with my connection. Quick summary:
    Trying to connect with Dreamweaver to localhost MySQL database, with PHP MySQL settings. I get "an unidentified error occured". But the informaiton has been verified as correct with my own PHP script.

    Sorry, but it doesn't help JTANNA.
    What is your definition of "more efficiently"? If it's limitation of search results, branded search, and limitation of styling your results then google search is more efficient. Real developers rely on their own developments. For example: how can google search display results from a password-protected site? They can't.

  • Installed PHP & MySQL, and now I have file permission errors.

    Hi Everyone
    I recently made a switch from using MAMP to making a separate installation of PHP, MySQL and Rails. I used the first tutorial for Rails + MySQL, and the second one for PHP;
    http://hivelogic.com/narrative/articles/ruby-rails-mongrel-mysql-osx
    http://www.entropy.ch/software/MacOSx/mysql/
    Unfortunately, I now receive errors when trying to install activeCollab through it's own PHP install script, and WordPress won't let me import xml backups into a locally installed WordPress. This must mean that I don't have full Read/Write access to my 'Sites' directory (this is set as my default htdocs in the Apache httpd.conf). I haven't noticed any problems with Rails - so far it's only been PHP based CMS's which have thrown up the permission errors.
    I've checked the file permissions on my 'Sites' folder - I'm the only user on the machine, and my account has full Read/Write access to the folder. However, I've noticed that there is also the option to choose 'Group' access, for which my account is again selected and given Read/Write access.
    Then there is 'Others' category, and this has 'Read only' access. Is there an option in there which I need to select and give Read/Write permissions to? mysql, php ?
    Or, is there a MySQL/PHP/Apache config file somewhere, within which I need to give global read/write permissions?
    I didn't have this problem when I was served up local sites from MAMP - and I also configured MAMP to use the 'Sites' folder as it's default htdocs folder. I get the impression that because MAMP was installed as an 'Application', that it automatically inherited my user permissions - maybe PHP and MySQL don't inherit my user account permissions because they are services?...
    I've come very far with getting everything installed to work with the OS X bundled Apache server (which I believe is 1.3 - I certainly haven't updated it) so I'd love to get everything finally configured - therefore, any help with this is very, very much appreciated!

  • Php mysql math error when using format(somenumber,2)

    osx 10.5.2, php 5.2.5, mysql 5.0.51 (standard leopard desktop os install)
    Select format(myField,2) as someNumber from myTable ...
    returns data i would expect, formatted as you would expect.
    while looping through the data returned i am calculating a running total.
    for numeric values less than 1,000 results are expected. for numbers gt 1000, php seems to want to truncate the value at the comma. 1,111.11 evaluates to 1; 25,000 evaluates to 25.
    If you remove the format() from the sql statement everything works the way you would expect.
    wrapping the value returned in a floatval() had no effect.
    I am posting this on the apple site rather than php/mysql forums on the off chance that this is a mac centric issue. googling the obvious combinations wasn't productive.

    Sounds like a locale issue.
    Many international formats use comma as the decimal separator, not the thousands.
    There are many levels where this could be set. It could be an OS setting (you don't say where you or, or the locale information of your machine (System Preferences -> International -> Format). It could be in PHP (see: http://www.php.net/setlocale ), or it could be in the database (data could be written in a comma-based table).
    It will take a little research to work out where your specific problem lies.

    Hi
        The problem is with Vector which i used to store the retirved information.
    After cleared that i got the proper result.
    I thought the problem is with tableview.But it is not.
    Note: To clear the vector i used Vec.clear() method. It doesn't work. So i created that vector newly inside the loop.

  • Conditional content from 2 tables in PHP/MYSQL

    I am developing a site in DWCS4 that has a database with 2 tables: audio and notes.
    The tables contain the following fields:
    AUDIO
    audio_id (ai)
    title (varchar)
    filename (varchar)
    (plus other fields for date, speaker etc)
    NOTES
    notes_id (ai)
    audio_id (int) - foreign key
    title (varchar)
    file_location (varchar)
    (plus other fields for date, author etc)
    I have a page which lists audio files which enables a selection to be made that then leads to a page (audio_detail.php) which has full details of the audio and contains a player (see www.wscnf.org/audio.php).
    Some of these audio files have associated notes and others do not - those that do contain the reference from audio.audio_id in notes.audio_id - if there are no notes then the foreign key defaults to a value of 0.
    I have been asked to amend the audio_detail.php page so that, if there is an associated notes file, a link to that file is shown on the page - what I have in mind is if there are asscoiated notes, a new line appears beneath the player which says "Notes accompanying this audio are available:" followed by a download link. If there are no associated notes then this line does not appear.
    Any assistance on how to achieve this would be most welcome - my knowledge of PHP/MYSQL is fairly basic (but growing!)

    There are several ways to go about this, but the one that comes to mind is to use an outer join to select columns from both tables. The outer join will return results from the main table AUDIO regardless of if there are matching results in NOTES. You can then test the column values in NOTES. If the row has a NULL value in NOTES.notes_id, then there is no associate note for that row. If there is an notes_id value, then you can use conditional logic to display the NOTE details, link to other pages, etc.
