Good Trnsprt Faculty

Dear Gurus,
We may be getting a project with a lot of Transportation involved for which we need to include activities like creating (automatically) Shipment Docs based on route, load and type of truck used and calculate the costing and settlement and the like.
I have tried all the documentation given in the forum (which is basic the same document), but it is calculating based on weight, i.e., if you send 100kgs to Haryana, say, system is calculating Rs.1000 for freight and if to send 500kgs to the same place, system is calculating Rs.5000, but normally we will be sending by our own truck and it will cost the same even if you send 100kgs or 500kgs in the same truck. So my requirement is if the material is sent in a truck, the system should capture the cost of freight per delivery, the truck can be carrying material for 2 or more customers. I need the costing per trip, per customer.
I am based in Hyderabad and can anyone of you suggest a faculty who can teach me Transportation at a required basic level, like single (multi) delivery point, or single (multi) destinations, from there I can build on that foundation and proceed.
Hope to hear from some one soon.
Thanks and regards.
Venkat - Hyd.

  • Role of Faculty Coordinator

As the University Alliances seeks to double in size over the next 3 years what role can/should the faculty coordinators play to help manage this growth?  Assume that resources will not keep pace with the number of new schools being added.  How can the faculty coordinators from member schools help the country managers grow the program and sustain the quality?

    Hi
Part of the problem with new universities is how they can fast track their curriculum.  It is not too difficult to get an Intro ERP Systems subject up and running with the curriculum made available through this site and the supporting workshops.  However if the motivation from SAP is to grow the number of universities to satisfy the worldwide skill shortage then this type of subject will have minimal impact in many of the mature ERP countries.
The skills these countries require are much deeper and or related to the newer SAP product offerings.  One technique we have usedd in the past to support and grow our curriculum and to assist other universities in the Asian region is the use of visiting professors.
The visiting professor teaches an area in concentrated mode usually in a non teaching period.  This provides the students with access to curriculum they would not normally receive.  It also improves the knowledge and skills local academics by exposure to the professor and their curriculum materials.
This is how we introduced Business Intelligence, SAP FI, SAP XI and Advanced HR, and Solution Manager.
We now have our lectures helping other universities in the region using a similar approach.  These universities also use this activity to further publicise their SAP related curriculum.

  • With what book did you first learn java? How good was the book?

I was just curious what else was out there, although I'd like to think I've at least moved past the beginning stages.
I started out with Douglas Bell and Mike Par's "Java for Students" required for my first class. It was a good beginning book I think, and relatively easy to use. Now I'm going to college at Michigan Technological University, and "using" Dave Poplawski's "Objects have class" (he's actually one of the faculty here) Maybe it's because I already did Java, but I just can't stand the book. It starts you out using some crappy Animator instead of extending applets. (I'm sure I could write a better program for this purpose)
But hey, just chime in if you have an opinion, b/c I'm wondering what other people thought of the books you're "forced" to buy, or what's better outside of school.

    A basic Java Library
Core Java - Cornell & Horstmann
    Sun Publishing 1996
This was my first introduction to Java, not a great book, but good in its day, Sun has probably updated it.
Exploring Java - Niemeyer & Peck
    O'Reilly 1997
This is an excellent book for Java 1.1, now out of print, but I still use it as a reference for basic stuff. I'd recommend O'Reilly's "Heads up Java - Your Brain on Java" as a good modern substitute. I've taken a good look at this, its light, humorous and quite complete. Probably the best introduction at present.
The Java Programming Language, Third Edition - Arnold, Gosling, & Holmes
    Sun, Addison Wesley 2000
This is a must for reference
Applied Java Patterns - Stelting & Massen
    Sun, Prentice Hall 2002
Good for design issues, includes examples in Java of the GOF patterns
Java Swing - Eckstein, Loy & Wood
    O'Reilly 1998
If you do GUI stuff you really need this, there is a more recent 1.3 edition
The Art of Computer Programming - Donald Knuth
    Addison Wesley 1969
Not about Java, but it covers all the stuff that hasn't changed in 50 years. And all that's really changed is that computers get smaller, cheaper and faster, and the books get bigger, more expensive and slower.
Java in a Nutshell Third Edition - Flanagan
    O'Reilly 1999
The ultimate reference. This nut keeps getting bigger while the type gets smaller, the examples got pulled out into a separate book in the third edition, the forth is a coconut. You probably want the newest edition regardless of the size and price.
    Java Network Programming - Harold
    O'Reilly 2000
Covers the basics of network programming in 1.3, doesn't cover NIO yet.
There are lots of books on more esoteric topics, like J2EE patterns, JNI, JDBC, Java Beans, EJB, JSP, Servlets, J2ME and NIO. Only buy these if you need them. The API documentation is often all you need.

  • ArchLinux chosen a default distro for our faculty.

I'm happy to inform that we decided to make ArchLinux a default distro for our student workstations (approx. 200) and main servers (12) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Sciences, Warsaw University of Technology. Previously we've been using Gentoo for those purposes. For workstations the new choice was obvious. For the servers - it was not. Honestly, we are a little disappointed with ArchLinux migrated to systemd. Personally, we are not convinced in systemd advantages and worry about possible future incompatibilities with other systems/distros and security issues. However, we finally decided that other advantages of the ArchLinux distribution outbalance any doubts related to systemd. We believe it's a good choice.
Thanks to ArchLinux developers; keep your good work!

quayasil wrote:I'm happy to inform that we decided to make ArchLinux a default distro for our student workstations (approx. 200) and main servers (12)
We are facing a similar big decision: Using Arch Linux as the distribution for a "thin client with good offline capabilities". The numbers are comparable (approx. 250 clients). The problem is that the clients are spread across the country and are not easily reachable by IT staff.
Our test setup and results (approx. 5 computers) so far:
We use a dual boot setup: One recovery partition with a bare minimum install (only base group + some tools) and a script to save and restore another partition. This other partition has a full installation with Xorg, LibreOffice, Firefox, rdesktop/RDP etc. Let's call this the "production system"
By default the production partition is booted by GRUB and the recovery partition can be manually selected from the GRUB menu
The recovery partition (when booted) is accessible by SSH (the production system also)
The "production" partition can be backed up with an rsync script and can be restored from the recovery partition if an upgrade of the production partition goes wrong and the production system does not boot anymore
Even the recovery partition can be backed up and updated from the production system (arch-chroot) if it can be guaranteed that the production system is booting the next time
The 5 computers are in a real-world test setup since a few weeks and well, it works ;-)
    Some unresolved problems/questions remain:
How do we test possible updates for all clients? Maybe in a virtual test machine...
How do we update all or most of the clients at once? I'm thinking of a local/custom repository and using parallel ssh or something.
How do we deal with special setups (other packages, other configuration? Perhaps using someting like cfengine...
How should the user accounts be configured (we have LDAP)? Well, that's not an Arch specific problem ;-)
@quayasil perhaps we can share our thoughts/work and create a blog/wiki or something about such a setup if the results are usable?
    Some thoughts?

  • COGS update on other GL Account at the time of Free goods or Sample goods

    Hello,
In sales process, Usually the at the time of Delivery, material document is created as
    DR COGS
    CR INVENTORY
But in the case of free goods or bonus goods or samples: the account should not determines COGS instead it should determine another GL Account called as Free good -COGS expense A/c.
How can we solve the issue.
    Regards,
    SK

    Hi Yasar,
You need to create a new routine for calculate type.
    Do as below:
    1. Go to VOFM>Formulas>calc.rule Rebate InKd to create a new routine for calculate type.  for example 601.
    2. add the following code in this routine 601 and then save.
      USING L_FRM STRUCTURE KONDN_FRM.
    DATA: VORKOMMA  LIKE KONDN-KNRMM,
           NACHKOMMA LIKE KONDN-KNRMM.
      L_FRM-NRMENGE = 0.
      L_FRM-NRRUND  = 0.
      L_FRM-NRMENGE = ( L_FRM-MGLME / L_FRM-KNRNM * L_FRM-KNRZM ).
    business rounding
        VORKOMMA = FLOOR( L_FRM-NRMENGE ).
      L_FRM-NRRUND  = L_FRM-NRMENGE - VORKOMMA.
      L_FRM-NRMENGE = VORKOMMA.
    3. Select routine 601 in field "Calc.Rule" when you create free goods condition record.
    Hope it helps.

  • Configuring requirement : ordered item to absorb cost of free goods

    Hello Friends,
I need to configure this in SAP SD.
The main item should accumulate the cost of the free goods.
I have  set the cumulative indicator and deactivated pring for this item.
Do i still need to configure the stock value for the free goods as cost free item? Or is this step only applicable for
    another scenario, like,
If I were to activate Pricing such that free goods is displayed as subitem and VPRS configured as cost and discount set to 100%
    1. Set  Item category to TANN using FREE usage   AND
    2. use condition type RL00 with requirement 55.
    3. use pricing type B.
    regards
    Ravi

  • Why self-defined access sequences of free goods can not work?

    Hi gurus,
I have maintained access sequences of free goods self-defined.but when i creat the SO it does not work!
when i used the standard access sequences ,it is OK .
    Can anybody tell me why?
    thanks in advance

    Dear Sandy,
Go to V/N1 transaction select your self defined access sequence then go in to the accesses and fields and check all fields are activated.
Make sure that these fields are flowing in your sales order.
I hope this will help you,
    Regards,

  • Posting the Expenses of Free Goods

    All SD Gurus
I have some doubt in SD-Module.
We have Trading Business, in that the Trade offers ie 100+10 Like that.... is presently posting in VPRS - Cogs (During PGI) only. But finance wants to post the values of trade offers (10 pcs) to Marketting expenses (During Bill Release to Finance), Presently during Bill release these trade offers are not considered for pricing.
According to my Current setting Free Goods Item Category is marked as Statistically. So it not posting my PR00 Conditions in Accounts.
Any help on this subject will be highly appriciated.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Vishal

Thanks, I have maintained all setting for Free goods. System is not posting any values @ time of Invoice in accounts as my free goods Item category is statistical. If I remove this setting then I have to maintain the PR00 - Base Condition (Mandaotry) which will post amount in Sales Domestic G/L Account.
    Any alternative solution?
    Regards

  • The codition type of free goods lost.

We are facing a problem about the codition type of free goods.
    Our business flow is:
1:customer order 100 DR material A from CRM.he entered the requited number in item 1.
2:we transferred the order into r/3 system.and we define the free goods in r/3.the
policy is that we give customer 1 dr free of charge when they buy 10 dr.
3:when this order has been transferred into r/3,the system automatically add a line
with 1 DR free of charge.
    4:in normal,in item 2,it will contain a condition type 'PR01' and 'NA00'.the 'PR01'
is the price and the 'NA00' is the 100% discount.
Nut Now the condition type 'PR01' and 'NA00' in item 2 lost.

    ANYONE KNOW THE REASON?

  • Divide discount of free goods between several items (SO)

    Hi gurus,
I need to split the cost of the free good between the items generating it, i.e. if the customer buy 5pcs of Mat A and 4pcs of Mat B he gets 1pcs of Mat C for free. He will only see the original price for the "main" items and zero for the free good but intenally the profit margin of the "main" materials should be deducted with the cost of the free good and the free good should have full profit margin as if it was sold for full price.
I'm aware that this is not standard SAP functionality and that I probably need to change a user exit in program MV45AFZZ.
Please help me with this problem! Any advice or tips are highly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Mia

Is it possible to solve this problem by modifying a user exit? I was considering creating a new pricing condition which should be inflicted between the net value and profit margin by the user exit so that the customer only sees the original values for the main materials but the profit margins are reduced with the price of the free goods directly in the order. Is this doable?
    /Mia

  • PO Print of Free Goods

Vendor has send free goods but excise duty and freight, etc we have to pay.
If I put free item tick in the PO, the condition tab disappears. I cannot enter the basic price and any other condition in the PO. therefore tax and other conditions cannot be calculated.
In the PO Print we have to print the excise duties and other conditions. Currently it is not coming in PO print.
How we can print the excise duties and other conditions in PO for the free goods.?
What I have to tell to ABAPER.

    Hi,
In case of free goods provided by vendor, create a free PO but need not to take the printout of same and sending it to vendor because in case of free supply of materials (for e.g. samples), vendor doesn't seek any PO document. We create free PO, its for system adjustment.
Just check this with your client, if its really needed then ask your client to maintain Pricing details in Item Text and try to print the same as Remarks in PO Printout, this requires ABAP effort.
And during GR against PO, enter Excise Base Amount, Excise Duty, Ed Cess and SECess manually and post it.

  • Tax Calculation of free goods

    Hi
We have a requirement where the client wants only VAT to be posted in GL accounts and not the price. For this I tried free goods condition type R100 with AltCBV 28.But the VAT value is also coming zero. I want the VAT to be calculated on Pricing condition and then give 100% discount.
Apart from this I also tried to make pricing condition statistical and calculate VAT on it but then also system gives zero value for VAT.
Also wondering if the scenario can be addressed with Free of Change Dellivery.

    Hi
Normally in scenario where you are dealing with samples , there are cases you have to charge only TAXES / EXCISE part.
Here my SUGGESTION is you can handle this through a simple sales order process, where you have to configure a new pricing procedure.
    1. Create a new document type to handle samples.
    2. Create a New pricing procedure where you can keep the basic price condtion as Statistical and rest all same as wht is is there your main pricing procedure. Just juggle with the TO-FROM to capture the TAX part in the total.
    3. Doc pricing procedure will help you to pick the new Pricing procedure
    4. Now Process this as a normal sales order
    5. This new document type will help you to have a proper reporting.
The only constraint here is USER has to punch a fresh order seperately for such scenario. He cannot give a free good in the same sales order which is used as standard.
The other way is you can configure a FREE GOOD Determination procedure as suggested  where you need to then have your Single pricing procedure accomodating the same scenario.
    Thanks
    RB
