Role of Faculty Coordinator

As the University Alliances seeks to double in size over the next 3 years what role can/should the faculty coordinators play to help manage this growth?  Assume that resources will not keep pace with the number of new schools being added.  How can the faculty coordinators from member schools help the country managers grow the program and sustain the quality?

Hi
Part of the problem with new universities is how they can fast track their curriculum.  It is not too difficult to get an Intro ERP Systems subject up and running with the curriculum made available through this site and the supporting workshops.  However if the motivation from SAP is to grow the number of universities to satisfy the worldwide skill shortage then this type of subject will have minimal impact in many of the mature ERP countries.
The skills these countries require are much deeper and or related to the newer SAP product offerings.  One technique we have usedd in the past to support and grow our curriculum and to assist other universities in the Asian region is the use of visiting professors.
The visiting professor teaches an area in concentrated mode usually in a non teaching period.  This provides the students with access to curriculum they would not normally receive.  It also improves the knowledge and skills local academics by exposure to the professor and their curriculum materials.
This is how we introduced Business Intelligence, SAP FI, SAP XI and Advanced HR, and Solution Manager.
We now have our lectures helping other universities in the region using a similar approach.  These universities also use this activity to further publicise their SAP related curriculum.
Good Luck

  • Faculty log in

    Hello,
I've successfully published our school's iTunes U site today. I used the log in that authenticates the old site (which has maintained both the public and private content since publishing). I tried to log in with a user account that has been migrated to the new site with the Public Site Manager but it took me to the private site with out any editing capabilities. My question is where do our faculty log in to manage and edit the existing public courses?
    Thanks!
    Nikki

    Hello Everyone,
I wrote Apple directly for a response to this one, I have faculty returning and classes about to start so I needed a quick answer. Thankfully the iTunes U team was kind enough to reply. Here is their response in case anyone else is in the same situation.
    Nichole-
iTunes U Public Site Manager based sites are not managed in the same manner as private iTunes U sites, access is only provided via Apple IDs and there is not a concept of tiered user access. Every user is an admin and if their Apple ID has been added to the "Users" list they can login to your site here - https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/DZStudio.woa/wa/SignIn
    For additional information - http://deimos.apple.com/rsrc/doc/UsingiTunesUPublicSiteManager/AdministratingYou rSite/chapter4_section_1.html#//appleref/doc/uid/iTUPSM-CH14-SW4
Your previous Private/Public site remains intact, although it is now technically your private site. You can continue to use whatever authentication method you had used in the past for accessing it.
    Regards-
    The iTunes U Team
Translation? I will administer the Public site, meaning I will have faculty deliver content directly to me to upload. There's no way I can give full admin privilege to all faculty members. Not to mention in the Admin guide it says that only one admin can be logged in at a time. When the beginning of the semester hits and I have 20 faculty members all trying to get in at once it would be chaos.
Anyways, I understand having oversight as to what enters the public domain via the iTunes Store, so I will work with it. I do wish I was able to create roles so faculty could manage their own public content as was the case with the old setup. Oh well....

    Linda,
The support team at UW Milwaukee can be reached via email at:  ucc (at) uwm.edu.
Peter DeVries on your campus is our "faculty coordinator".  He should have information like this, as the faculty coordinator normally receives an email from the UCC director when the school comes on board that provides a list of the support team with their contact information, the directors contact information and so on.
You can also look this information up on UAC by drilling into the "University Competence Center" navigation item on the far left side of the welcome page.  The UWM UCC page has a list of contacts -- name, phone, email.  Direct link:  http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/uac/ucc-americas?rid=/webcontent/uuid/0068504f-b3f0-2b10-cc92-fb79f80d412f [original link is broken]  (you may need to copy/paste this link into the address bar).

  • Acquiring serial number

I bought Lightroom 5 from Staples online as a download version.  I received 2 emails from them.  One with the receipt and the other with the product key but no serial number was found.  I did not receive an email from Adobe with the 24-digit numeric serial number either.  How can I acquire this serial no. so that I can start using Lightroom.  Thanks.

I have Emailed you the complete procedure, I am posting here for others with same issue.
You have purchased a student Teacher edition of light room. To get the serial number, please follow the below mentioned process:
For the fastest processing, always use the same e-mail address when contacting Identit-e.
1.On the Identit-e website, enter the product code and click I Am Ready For Step 2.
2.Enter the student, teacher, or faculty member name. If you are not the student, teacher, or faculty member, do not enter your name. Doing so delays processing.
3.Select your role: Student, Faculty, or Staff, and enter your birth date. The website auto-populates the product code you entered in step 1. Type the security code as it is displayed onscreen. Click Continue.
    4. Enter your personal information (Last Name, Address, City, Country, State or Province, Post Code, and E-mail). Agree that the product is for personal use only and will not be installed on institutional machines or resold and click Continue.
    5. Enter your e-mail address again when prompted.
Note: If the e-mail address you enter does not match the one you entered on the previous screen, the website prompts you to retype your e-mail address.
    6.  Select a Country (United States, Canada, or Mexico) and School Type (Higher Education or K-12 School).
    7.  Select a State and City.
    8.  Select your school from the Name of School menu. If your school is not listed, enter your school name in the corresponding field.
Note: Processing is faster if you select your school from the Name of School menu instead of entering the school name
9.Optionally, complete the remaining questions on the form.
    10.Click Continue.
    11.Do one of the following:
Upload your proof of eligibility (you can attach up to five documents), and click Finish
Select Finish Later to receive an e-mail with instructions on how to complete the process. All information you entered previously is save
The website displays a confirmation page and e-mails the confirmation information.
The serial number shall be mailed to you to the Email address mentioned in the form within 2 to 3 working days from Identite-e
    Regards
    Rajshree.

  • Is Distributed Transaction Coordinator services of the application role are required by SQL Server 2012 for clustering and support of SharePoint 2013.

All I want to know is if Distributed Transaction Coordinator services of the application role are required by SQL Server 2012 for clustering and support of SharePoint 2013.
I have been planning and deploying my companies first Windows Server 2012/SQL Server 2012 Always On cluster and Always On Availability Groups Multi-Subnet cluster and instances for SharePoint 2013, and I will be brutally honest, the documentation on either
the MSDN and TechNet leave alot to be desired. Continually finding links in the documentation will take me from a Windows 2012 reference to a page talking about Windows Server 2008 or R2, The differences of which there are so many when it comes to configurations,
settings, roles, services when working with SQL Server 2012. I have been confused, frustrated, screaming mad, with all the misdirection in this documentation.  The documentation takes me windows 2008 R2 which is different than 2012!
Tired and trying to pick myself up off the floor!
    Greg
    Gman

In general, DTC is not required for SQL 2012.  But, since you are asking specifically about SharePoint, it would be better to ask in a SharePoint forum.  They would be more likely to know those situations where FTC might be needed by SharePoint.

  • What roles to give for a tester or test coordinator

    This link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/EN/b3/64c33af662c514e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
only provides SAP standard roles for other roles but not for a tester or a test coordinator.
What roles have you used for a tester and test coordinator in SM4?
Sorry, one important thing: I mean tester and test coordinator roles in Project implementation tools (tcode STWB_WORK and STWB_2). And of course test coordinators need to write and save test cases in the configuration (SOLAR02) as well.
In my SAP training material SMI310, on page 33 there is listed roles like SAP_TWB_TESTER (for tester) and SAP_TWB_COORDINATOR which do exist in SM4 but both are not valid for STWB_WORK nor STWB_2. I suppose they are not meant to be used with SM40 anymore?
    We are using Solman 4.0.
    Best regards,
    Kimmo

    Thank you Annett.
It  seems, that in SM4 SAP has provided list of authorization objects (in the Excel 'Delta_Information_Customers_EN.xls' and customers should gather a new composite roles of their own.
I consider SAP should have provided a template composite role in standard for Test and test coordinator users.
SAP knows very well the needs of a tester and test coordinator, and STWB_WORK is surely not the only authorziation object needed.
Here are some topics that I consider typical needs for a TESTER in project implementation (in parenthesis a proposal from SAP's Excel):
No authorization for project admin nor SOLAR01, nor SMSY
    Display authorization for SOLAR02 (sap_solar02_dis)
Display authorization for SOLAR02 documentation (?derives from sap_solar02_dis?)
Not able to switch to other projects in SOLAR02 (?invidual rights to auth.object S_Project?)
Execute transactions from SOLAR02 (?derives from sap_solar02_dis?)
all rights to STWB_WORK (sap_stwb_work_all) and everything inside it: create message, execute test cases, enter test results
If there are any SDN members having already defined tester and test coordinator composite roles in SM4, I am interested to hear which roles you used.

  • What is the best way to build a career path where I can evolve into an SAP role instead of one that is Customer Service based?

In October 2011, my previous employer converted to SAP, as the rest of the worldwide entities were already using SAP. At that time, I was an Order Coordinator, where my job role was to process all of the Inside/Outside Sales Representatives orders for the US. Because of my keen attention to detail, the speed in which I learn new roles and general IT knowledge, I was asked to be the SAP SuperUser for our Financial Operations team. I quickly began to learn the roles of Order-to-Cash, Customer Master Data, Pricing Conditions, Contracts, some Material Master Data, and even Customer/Material Pricing Audits. I also performed manual customer billing in SAP until the automatic modules were implemented. Knowledge of these roles created a need for me to become a trainer to my team, where the SAP Consultants left off. After only working in SAP for the few months after the conversion started, I evolved out of an Order Coordinator rights of access and was given a not-so-typical role as an "analyst". I had more than a firefighter role in SAP, as my normal log in credentials gave me full rights to all of these modules and even special reporting. Our parent global company realized necessity for my role and followed proper protocol to authorize the access changes to still meet the SOx regulations. Prior to using SAP, I never thought I'd fall in love with it and enjoy my job so much, but it happened! Despite my previous employer's less than perfect data that was copied into SAP, we managed to have an efficient ongoing process to clean it all up.  I became more of a liaison between Financial Operations and our IT Dept/SAP Consultants. I "translated" the technical steps that IT/SAP Consultants were trying to teach everyone and trained my Financial Operations team in a way they would understand. I truly enjoyed my job, even at our most difficult moments.
However, after all of the fun I was having while working in SAP and truly gaining a ton of useful experience and knowledge, "life" happened and I had an opportunity to move from Atlanta, GA to southern California. I've searched for months to find a new career here in California with a company that I could continue my learning experiences and become more proficient in SAP, but I'm a little lost. My search to find jobs have only given me possibilities in Customer Service positions or ones that are SAP sales/programming based. I'm floating in limbo and looking for help from the SAP community on where I can go from here to get back into a career path with SAP.
I'm 28 years old and I'm currently finishing my Associate degree in Business Administration. I'm a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), certified with the Help-Desk Institute as a Support Center Analyst, and also completed my previous employer's Quality Advocate Certification which focused on Six Sigma and Lean concepts. Prior to leaving the company, I was being considered for a company sponsored training in the Six Sigma Green or Black Belt program. I've recently started working a contract position as a Customer Service Rep, processing orders, but the company will be completing an SAP conversion in May 2013; so only a few months away. The problem I have in this position is that I feel frustrated in learning their current software when their entire team seems to have their own personal ways of doing their job. I prefer to have structure and perform job duties the right way, then building on that to make the job more streamlined. I spoke with my recruiter but he feels I may be a bit premature on feelings about working in this contract position. I may be just feeling a little impatient in having to wait another 3 months to see if the company may even hire me on permanently and what role I would have with SAP, beyond Customer Service Rep. I'm hoping to get some direction from the SAP community on where I might focus my attention in learning SAP. My hope is to find a position working with SAP like the one I enjoyed so much back in GA. I'm even considering options to learn the programming side. I think SAP is a great software package once people understand how it's designed, or can be designed, to work.
    Please help!!
I'd be happy to provide my resume to anyone willing to review it and give me some pointers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I appreciate the length and detail of your post. I struggle answering questions from folks who give too little info. It's refreshing to have too much info for a change.
I'll summarize your post and give suggestions:
You have very strong end user experience, almost bordering on support level SD knowledge. You have experience with the way that at least one company implemented SAP SD but don't have many years of experience with different approaches, so you can't pitch yourself as someone who's "been-there, done-that" outside of the SD world and you can't bill yourself as having SD functional knowledge to the extend that you could be a consultant for SAP SD.  (See FAQ: Different Career Paths in SAP for descriptions of different traditional SAP career paths.)
You've moved to Southern California, which is chock full of companies using SAP, by the way, and you're having a hard time finding the right job. Your education is probably going to be problematic at this point. Most SAP related jobs require a Bachelor's Degree at a minimum. Definitely keep on going with your degree. I don't know where you're doing your associate's degree, but you might want to look in to Cal State Fullerton, which has an *excellent* SAP focused business degree program. (http://business.fullerton.edu/).
You've found work at a company but had to start over at a lower level of responsibility. Since the job you just landed will be transitioning to SAP in 3 months, you have an opportunity to repeat your previous rise by volunteering to be a super-user again. Alternatively, you could talk to the group within your company and express your desire to help out supporting the system from the back end. Traditionally, companies lose a few folks immediately following an implementation, so there's a good chance that if you make your desires and skills known, that you'll be able to move onto the support team once a position opens up.
All of the above assumes that you want to continue on the functional side of SD. You didn't mention any aptitude or preference for programming. It is certainly easier to get programming jobs than functional jobs (see How did you get your start in SAP?), but it seems like you really enjoyed the functional side of SAP. I do *not* recommend learning an SAP skill for which you have no desire simply to get a job, hoping that you can switch later. Use the skills you have to get the job you really want, doing something that really excites you. It's far to easy to fall into a job simply because it's there and get trapped and burned out.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,

  • How to override AD identity template for resource contained in role?

This is yet another variation on the "I need to compute the container for my AD user, so how do I override the identity template?"
I have a relatively elegant hack (detailed below)...but it is a hack and I am worried about unintended consequences.
    Details:
I am running an active sync on a database table representing our HR info. Based on info in the table, I am assigning business roles, such as faculty, staff. Those particular business roles contain an IT role which has an AD resource assigned to it. There are different depths in the tree for students (from the student information system, not HR) vs. employees, so I can't hack it by using AD Department and Division attributes in the identity template.
Unlike many of the other posts, I am not assigning the AD resource directly. That may not matter, but it feels like that gives it even more opportunity to lose track of the information I might compute on my active sync form.
I have tried a several things. These were the most promising so far:
    1. Setting accounts[AD].identity in the active sync form. Looking with the IDE debugger, it's there and correct when I leave the active sync form. But by the time the Create User process is invoked, accounts[AD] is nowhere to be found in the user. I see it after I step over the provision task, so I'm looking for it in the right place. (Other attributes, like Description, get set in the active sync form, and are also ignored by the time the user is created.)
    2. Something I thought for sure was going to work: I've mapped distinguishedName in the schema, and set it via a rule in the "Set attribute values" under the resources tab of the role. Then I set the identity template to $distinguishedName$. But that failed because it complained that distinguishedName didn't exist.
Here's the hack: If I use Description instead of distinguishedName in #2 above, it works: the user is created in the correct AD ou. But Description is abused, and that feels like it's going to be trouble someday. Also, setting the identity template to $Description$ is freaky.
What's the real way to do this? Do I use the hack except with a custom AD attribute so that Description isn't abused? Do I customize a Create User for my active sync form that sets accounts[AD].identity just prior to the provision task?
    Thanks in advance. -Les

Steve and Paul: good ideas, and good insight. Thanks!
For the moment, I am going to pursue the path Steve suggested once I verify that I will be able to assign folks to groups outside of the root container assigned to the different adapter instances. (Employees can enroll in classes, and access to course-related objects is by group, therefore there will a group to assign that's outside of someone's root container...) I don't think this is a problem, though.
Also, I sort of expected that folks wanted something human-friendly in Division and Department attributes ("Business Office" vs. "buso"). I need to use the department code (not name) in the OU because the name is more likely to change over time, and I don't know how to tell the gateway to move a user between AD containers. I've seen references in the forum of doing that by turning an update into a rename operation, but I don't yet know enough about the product to do anything actionable with that piece of knowledge.
    Thanks again! -Les

I am very confused that why this db unavailable before the issue. I don’t have any information about this.
Can some body help me to find out the root cause why this unexpected fail over and

    Hello,
It looks like something was updated or done to the end system as:
'An error occurred while receiving data: '1054(An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)'
Is generally caused by a firewall. Please double check software and hardware firewalls (including endpoint protection software) and make sure the exceptions for port 5022 tcp exist.

  • Distributed Transaction Coordinator not displaying remotely on a server core cluster node..

We setup a server core single node cluster (W2012 R2).  The MS DTC is running, and the Distributed Transaction Coordinator firewall rules are enabled.  I can connect to the firewall rules and compmgmt.msc remotely for this server.  When
I attempt to connect to the Component Services Management console with this server, the MS DTC object is not displayed.  Only the COM+ applications are displayed.   We've setup other server core instances with out clustering and DTC is displayed.

    Hi Steve,
We just finished the local test and found this behavior is by design. It’s expected that we can’t see the DTC remotely from component services for a cluster node.
In my lab, 2012R2 node3 is a single node cluster and has DTC role.

  • Training Coordinator for Org Unit

    Hi
How can we assign training coordinator to Org unit ??
    Regards
    Ammad

You can do so in Infotype 1803 i.e. Roles. If your training coordinator has a USER (SAP USER), you can specify "US" in infotype field "Object Type" and specify its ID in "Object Number" field. If the coordinator is an employee who doesn't have a user ID in system, he still can be assigned to Org. Unit in the same infotype; just specify "P" in the field "Object Type" and specify his Personnel Number in "Object Number" field...
And if the training coordinator is neither a user nor a person but its a position, you need to specify "S" in object type and "position number" in Object number field..
Hope it helps.. If yes, please change the status of question as "Answered"..
    Thank you,

  • Does clustered MSDTC require Application Server role in Windows 2008 R2?

I'm reviewing a windows 2008 R2 2-node Active/Passive cluster which has clustered MSDTC and SQL Server.   The strange thing is that Application Server role is not installed. I thought MSDTC requires Application Server role in order to be
    clustered.

    Hi Mark,
I look into this more and it seems to me the Application Server role (at least for the Distributed Transactions area) is just another way to configure Distributed Transaction Coordinator instead of using the Component Services Administrative Tool.
Also, the configuration has nothing to do with clustering.   So, MSDTC requires configuration regardless of clustering or not and the configuration can be done through Application Server role and/or Component Services Administrative Tool.
    Is my understanding correct?
    Thanks.

  • How to map CRM roles to EP roles

    Hello,
I have created one coordinator roles in CRM and assigned to one user.
Assigned defualt EP role also, but user is not getting any worksheets and ivews.
How can we map the CRM roles to EP roels.
    Thanks
    Purna

    Purna,
The portal roles drive the iView, workhseet, etc. The backend CRM roles give the needed authorization to run CRM.
I assume your CRM Coordinator role is a custom role, you can either assign the standard CRM Portal Roles that provide the related iView for that backend role or create new CRM Portal Role using Content Admin. You can find the standard CRM portal roles by User Admin, change Search Criteria to Role and uses crm.
Don't forget to check the permission on your new portal roles.
    Good luck.

  • Initiater for Role removal.

    Hi,
I need some update/input w.r.t Role removal Initiator. While configuring the role removal is it possible to use the role status in the initiator?    If not how to identify this role is only for the role removal.
Normally we use to put only one stage for Role removal. In the config, no where we are having automatic check for the request is only for the Role removal. So we have to trust that particular stage owners. As per the CUP automation check is it possible to validate this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Vasantha Kumar.

    Hi Justin
I'm assuming you are involved in or victim of a security access review. I'm usually one of those security guys asking for role or transaction removal and you are the main contact in the business coordinating the changes.
The process of remediation will possibly consist of checking which transactions are causing segregation of duties conflict, if they are used or not and removing one side of the conflict by removing an unused transaction.
It shouldn't require the entire contents of a role to be removed - rather swapping role A for role B without a transaction or two.
Removing transactions that aren't used can have more subtle implications which hopefully are found during UAT but is usually missed until used in anger. This what support is for after go live.
Saying all that and depending on your time and skills, you could ask for access to the security person's test user in dev or qas where they are working to run transaction SUIM on transaction for user following the proposed changes and compare that to the actual access of the real affected user in prod. If you can get access to the informer tab in virsa you can use the standard simulation reports to also check the resulting conflicts which will help you talk to the business and advise on actions available. There should be role owners involved in all this as they have to owner the result: expect a request for these for CUP later on
If you can retain control and approval of the (controlled) changes being made to users you will have a better understanding of what is happening, catch potential errors and mediate between security and the business - you have an important task!
Ask for some basic training in standard SAP reports - the security team should be more than grateful for your input
Crikey that was hard typing on an iPhone!
    Cheers
