  • Office 365 vs Google Apps?

I wanted to share a recent guest post by the CEO of Champion Solutions Group on behalf of Sanjeevini Mittal on how customers find Office 365 vs Google Apps. What is your experience?
    Today’s
guest blogger is Chris Pyle, president and CEO of Champion Solutions Group, an award-winning Microsoft Gold partner that helps
small and medium enterprises develop cloud strategies and deploy cloud solutions. Founded in 1979, Champion has 22 offices in 11 states and is the parent company for MessageOps, which focuses exclusively on helping customers move seamlessly to the Microsoft
Cloud. The two companies have helped hundreds of customers migrate to Office 365.
At Champion Solutions Group, we focus on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that range from about 250 to 2500 seats. We have helped hundreds of business, education and government customers migrate a total of about 700,000 seats to Office 365. As part of our
work, we have helped many customers migrate to Office 365 from Google Apps, including several who previously had left Microsoft for Google.
In working with our customers, we focus on operational efficiencies, making sure the organizations that adopt the Office 365 platform really make the most of it. Just because you migrate to Office 365 doesn’t mean you’re done. That’s Day One. There’s still
Day Two (how you set everything up) and Day Three (how you collaborate and leverage the power of Office 365). We help our customers with all three stages.
Why customers choose Office 365 over Google Apps:  For organizations that switch from Google Apps to Office 365, the number one reason is that they find Office 365 is easier to use
and offers greater productivity than Google Apps. Because it is enterprise-grade and much more business-focused than anything Google can offer, customers also say that Office 365 is more robust than Google Apps.
As an example, one of our customers is a large grocery chain on the East Coast, with more than 10,000 users in many different locations. When the company decided to abandon Google Apps and adopt Office 365, the top two reasons were the usability and robustness
of Office 365. In fact, one of the main reasons the company finally decided to switch to Office 365 was that employees complained so much about Google Apps. They said it was very cumbersome and didn’t work for them. They just didn’t find Google Apps as productive
    as Office 365.
Choice is another important factor for many organizations when they are considering different cloud solutions. When we ask our customers why they choose Microsoft over Google Apps, many say that having a choice of cloud, on-premise or hybrid solutions gives
them the flexibility to meet their business needs. With Google, the cloud is the only option. Customers like having a productivity solution they can tailor to their business.
Office 365 is more cost-effective than Google Apps:  There’s an immediate cost benefit to customers who choose a cloud solution. They save money on the initial capital outlay, and they
can convert those savings to operational investments, but the cost-effectiveness of any solution is about more than the initial price tag.
When customers are choosing a cloud solution, they ask questions about productivity, security, and how well it works. Microsoft provides positive answers to all of those questions. In our experience, the productivity suite that Microsoft delivers with Office
365, compared to Google Apps, makes it the “right way” for most organizations.  Over the long term, Office 365 is often the most cost-effective choice.
The bottom line:  What we offer our customers when we help them migrate to Office 365 is a way to transform how they work, to innovate, and to come up with better ways to make a difference
to their customers. Once our customers begin to understand and use the full capabilities of Office 365, they report a significant increase in productivity,
with their employees doing a tremendous amount of work from almost any location, on any of their devices, and being much more collaborative.

I am grandfathered into a Google Apps account with 50 seats. I also pay for a 5 user seat Office 365 account. My personal domains are on Google Apps and my business domains are on Office 365. How both services are great, I prefer Office 365 to Google Apps
any day of the week. Now, I am a huge Google user. But my eco-system is so Microsoft heavy, I will stick with Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1 OS's for now. But that is not the only reason. Google Apps is simple. That is what makes Google Apps so strong is
that it is simple to use. Office 365 is robust. That is what makes Office 365 so strong is that it is robust. Now, the major difference. Office 365 is a little harder to use and set up than Google Apps is. A small company of 5 users may benefit with Google
Apps if they do not have an IT department. With Office 365, if you have 20 users, I will suggest some kind of geek working there to handle some of the IT because Office 365 is a little too robust. For me, my business, I like robust. I prefer the features of
Office 365 over Google Apps. I like the control I have over Office 365. Google Apps does not give you control, it is straight forward. For some companies, Google Apps may be great for them. For large large enterprises, they may want to consider Office 365.
Though, there are a lot of large enterprises settling with Google Apps. Either way, it all depends on the needs of the company. Both services are good. I just prefer Office 365 and my opinions are just as valid as someone who prefers Google Apps.

  • Delete email in mavericks mac mail doesn't work with google app

    Hello,
I've got a macbook pro retina. I've received it with mavericks pre-installed, I've done the update to 10.9.1.
I got a google app account it was use previously with mac mail on mac os X 10.8.
I've resetup it with the all mail settings imap shown. The "Auto-Expunge on" is set to  "- Immediately update the server. (default)"
    The problems are:
    - each time I delete a message in inbox it re-appear if I click on another folder (like sent) and go back to inbox.
    - if I move a message from inbox to a local folder it doesn't move it, It copy it. Before mavericks that feature was working.
Could you tell me what are the right settings in google app mail to set to work well with mavericks?
Thanks a lot, this new mac mail app is hard to work with...

  • Google Apps

    Hello,
I have my E72 since yesterday and I want to connect it to my Google Apps account for synchronising my mail, contacts and calendar.
I tried MfE but it just don't work.
I'm able to use GMail trough a normal IMAP account so that is working.  But I just can't sync contacts and calendar.  I tried several suggestions found on the internet, but none of them is working.
I have installed the latest firmware.
Who can help me to setup Google Apps for my phone?

You can certainly use SyncML to sync contacts with your google account. I know it can also be used to sync calender by I have not tried that myself.
Look for a utility called Sync on your phone. On my N8 it is under, Connectivity>Data transfer>Sync. It is probably different on your phone but have a look around and see if you can find it. Once you find it, you need to set up the sync profile using your google settings. I only have it set to sync contacts but I see options to sync calender as well. I regularly use it to sync contacts between my Nokia and Android handsets.

  • How do I sync Googles Apps in Mail 5.3 (re-post)

There's a post here about setting up Google Apps email through MS Exchange on Mail.app 5.2, but this doesn't work for me in 5.3.
The email I've been using for well over a decade is from a former dial-up ISP (Worldshare.net) and I am paying $10/year to keep the address.  They've since moved mail to Google Apps.
I'm looking to close that account, but I'd like to save some of the messages, preferably in Mail.app format.  I'm looking at no more than 200 messages and, if I could only get those into Mail.app, I can preserve them in a folder "On my Mac."
I opened a standard gmail account, hoping to Import these Google Apps messages, from which they could be accessed in Mail 5.3, but gmail won't accept the Worldshare IMAP credentials.  I've enabled POP on both accounts, but still no luck.
Any thoughts on how I might get this done?
    Thanks.
PS:  I am also unable to set up this Worldshare Google Apps mail account on iOS6.

  • Google apps hosted domain and imap

    Hello,
    according to this article:  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB05133
wireless deletion works both ways. it won't for my domain hosted with google apps. email arrive quickly. deletion from blackberry to server works but not in the other way. i don't know if it's a blackberry or google issue. if someone has an idea...

Well I thought it may have been related to the Mail Attachment Iconizer plugin I was using, so I uninstalled that. After relaunching Mail though, I'm still seeing the same behavior:
If I send a file to someone using Mail, and then make edits to that file, I can't re-save the file as long as Mail is open. I need to quit Mail before it can be saved.

  • Transfer emails to google apps

I have started the big task of using Google apps for my email accounts. I have managed to get Google apps email accounts working fine with Mail.app. Now I tried "Google Email Uploader" to store all older emails on each Google account. But unfortunately I see that Google don't treat the threads (sent/received) emails the same, and there is some confusion between the two.
Also after I upload the emails, Mail.app is downloading the emails and there is a mess in Mail.app too.
I'm planing to change from POP to IMAP when I manage (if I manage) to solve the upload issues. So if anyone have been through this procedure and have some advice to give it would be much appreciated.

So I got it working and uploading the emails to Google apps mail. A bit confusing as Google mail has "Sent Mails" and "Sent Messages" but it works. I can now receive and send emails from Mail.app through Google apps mail.
The last struggle I have is that the sent messages won't show up in the normal "Sent" part of Mail.app. I have been playing around with the settings in Mail.app but I don't get it to work. iCloud/MobileMe IMAP is working fine with the Sent mail.
Any suggestions or does anybody have the same problem?

  • Need help with Apple Mail POP Google App Settings

I am using Google Apps Account for the domain name xyz.travel
I have set-up POP Account on Apple Mail for my Email address [email protected] with the Google Mail settings of POP and SMTP correctly. No Problem.
However, in my Email Address [email protected] there are 3000+ Emails which is more than 3 years old. I do not want all these Emails to be uploaded on my Apple Mailbox. It will take ages for all these 3000+ Emails to be uploaded in my Apple Mailbox. I only want to be able to send Emails from the Apple Mailbox and receive the Emails that I received on [email protected] henceforth.
Can someone please help me ?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Mail.app Stopped Working with Google Apps Account

I have accessed my Google Apps e-mail account via Mail.app for many months with no problems. Then all of a sudden yesterday it has stopped working. I can't download new messages no matter what I do, and it does not give me any errors such as wrong username/password. I have tried sending a few test e-mails out and they get sent even though Mail.app shows the message as still being sent endlessly (the blue progress bar goes to about 50% and then just sits there, however the recipient receives the e-mail). Has anyone experienced this problem? It may be a complete coincidence, but I also just upgraded my version of Aperture 2 to Aperture 3 and it has been having all sorts of problems (which others are experiencing as well). Any help is greatly appreciated.

After some searching I have found a solution. I had to delete the contents of the following folder:
    ~/Library/Mail/myemailaccount/.OfflineCache/
Note: replace "myemailaccount" with the appropriate folder on your computer that represents your e-mail account. Once I deleted the contents of this folder (there were 2 files), and restarted Mail, there were no problems.
Hope this helps a few people in the future!

  • After installing Mavericks on my iMac, Apple Mail would not sync with my Google Apps email account.  Now Mail crashes every time I open it.  What's up?

After installing Mavericks on an imac, Mail would not sync with my Google Apps email account.  After I clicked on All Mail the program crashed and now it crashes every time I open Mail.  Does anyone have an suggestions?

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • How to configure multiple email addresses for a Google Apps profile on iOS 8.1?

I've got a Google Apps account with 4 incoming email addresses. I'd like to use either Exchange or Google as the email type for this account. I understand how to setup the original account (done, works great). I understand how to change the one-and-only sending address to essentially any one of the 4 authorized send-from emails. However, I can't seem to figure out how to add all 4 addresses so that Mail.app on my phone automatically chooses the correct address for replies to incoming

I would like to know this too, although as far as I have read, it's not possible (anymore) with Mail. Previous you would have added your 4 email addresses separated by commas as your email address. I tried doing that recently but Mail did not understand it. You will need to resort to using the official Gmail app for your secondary incoming addresses.

  • PDF from Google Apps gmail/gdrive by Cloudprinter failed on HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One

    Dear forum contributors,
    1. HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One
    2. Linux OpenSuSE 12.2 64-bit
    3. Failed , after the failed message is a very long URL to my gmail attachment.
    4. This issue occured from the beginning, I have this printer only for one week.
When I print different kinds of PDF's from Google Apps (gmail and gdrive) by Google Cloudprinter I got a failed message at the HP eprinter Recent Print Jobs list.
Other prints from Google Cloudprinter, for example a webpage or a Google Docs document (not PDF) is working fine.
Also sending the same PDF's directly to my @hpeprinter.com e-mail address is working fine.
Is this a problem by Google Cloudprinter or HP e-print? How to solve the problem?
    Thanks for helping,
    Jurjen

After much research, I was unable to obtain a direct answer for two reasons: HP doesn't support Linux or Cloud Print beyond initial setup.  I was not very satisfied with this answer as I knew you would not really be either so I found some links and this may be the last I can provide any assistance here due to the two reasons above.  These links cover everything and should provide for you additional links to all of your questions I believe.
--Serving a Printer to Google Cloud Print from Linux--
    --Google Cloud Print on Linux--
--Installing Google Cloud Print on a Linux Server--
Otherwise, if ePrint is not working within the apps using a Windows-based computer I am more than happy to assist you.  You may continue to get support here from other community members regarding Linux but I may not be of much assistance.  I can say the first place to check is www.eprintcenter.com and see what the error messages say there under the print history, cancel any pending print jobs and try again.  Keep me posted on any additional information you may want to add regarding a Windows PC, otherwise I should direct you over to some great support provided by Google Cloud. Linux is suppose to work with these functions so I will leave you with this final excerpt from a Cloud Print Help site:
"Why is my document not printing?
    1. Make sure your Google Cloud Print connector is running on a computer with Mac, Windows, or Linux.
    2. If you're using Windows XP, make sure you also have the Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed.
    3. Confirm that the computer connected to your printer is powered on and that you are logged in."
This printer should support this feature so to make sure, you can log into www.eprintcenter.com and select ePrint Settings under the customized email address on this page and ensure you have Print Services ON.  I wish I could be of more assistance however.  I strongly recommend contacting the manufacturer of the apps you are having the problem with as these functions work when you use them like ePrint was intended (via email and mobile devices).  Good Luck!
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.
When a solution is found please mark the post that solves your issue.
    Every problem has a solution!
