Got denied on trading in Kindle Fire

Hello, I recently went to a Best Buy store in toledo, OH (store #243) to trade in a first generation Kindle Fire for your current promo "trade in any tablet and receive a $50 gift card." However, while I was there I was denied the promo based on the fact that they said the Kindle Fire was an Ereader not a tablet. I am confused by this, because even your website specifically lists the Kindle Fire as a tablet. I asked to speak with a manager, and they too claimed the Fire was an e-reader, not a tablet. I was wondering if the customer associates were wrong in determining it an Ereader, and if there is some way for me to still be able to get this promo applied with trading in my Kindle Fire. I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you encountered trying to take advantage of our current tablet trade-in offer at our Toledo store. We expect in-store associates to be knowledgeable about these type of offers, as well as the redemption process, so it's disheartening to learn of situations where that expectation may not have been met.
As long as a tablet meets the minimum requirements of this promotion -- and the Kindle Fire is indeed a tablet -- it should be accepted and processed as such so that you may participate in this offer.
That being said, I've passed word of the situation along to the store's leadership. If you haven't already done so, I'd encourage you to stop by the store at your earliest opportunity and to speak with a manager on duty. I have confidence that they'll be able to help you participate in this exciting offer.

Kindle fire- largest audio latency yet

just got my hands on a kindle fire, really nice device for air apps, plays at 60 fps no problem and looks vibrant...feels like playing an upgraded game gear.
BUT! the audio delay when calling play in air is the worst i have seen on any android device...
I know we have had similar discussions with no resolution..sooo i just wanted to say :complain complain complain.

Let's be clear:
1) There is "acceptable" latency of the order of half a sec or so ( often less ), which according to the post by Holgate, #7 above, is an issue with -- some versions of ( ? ) -- Android ( not Air specifically ).
2) Then, there is unacceptable delay, which appears to be specific to Air on some Android devices ( particularly Nook Color and Kindle Fire ), where a sound will sometimes play in near sync ( with "normal" Android latency ), and sometimes with a delay of SEVERAL SECONDS ( like 5 or 10, in one of my apps! ), which apparently has something to do with garbage collection ( Holgate post #14, above ).
I can confirm that the unacceptable delay has NOT been fixed as of Air 3.6, testing on Nook Color and Kindle Fire, though it is fine ( no delay ) on the Nexus One.
As pointed out in another forum, playing all your sounds in a silent loop, will prevent sounds from being garbage collected, and will eliminate the delay issue whenever you play a sound, like so:

This hack eliminated the severe delay I was getting on Nook Color and Kindle Fire ( several seconds for some sounds, in some situations ), leaving me with the "regular", acceptable Android latency.

Kindle Fire $50 Trade in Denied

I tried trading in my Kindle Fire (1st Gen) at the Fenway, MA store (#804) for the Samsung $50 promotion.
Customer service officer had no idea of the promotion so I had to show him the website. He later denied me saying that the Kindle Fire is not a tablet but an ereader and is only eligible for a trade in value of $2.
Can someone please clarify if the Kindle Fire is eligible for this promotion and if not, why it is considered an ereader when it obviously runs on Android with similar apps.

I can understand questioning why our Fenway store may have denied your trade-in, especially when the Kindle Fire is categorized as a tablet on BestBuy.com. Being that the original Kindle was solely an eReader, the associates may have assumed the same of your Kindle Fire; however, it should be considered more of a tablet, which means it would qualify for the current trade-in offer.
I am very sorry for any inconvenience you may have experienced while at the store, as we should be more familiar with our current promotional offers. I am going to connect with the store managers from our Fenway store to ensure they have the correct information. The offer is valid up until 9/6/2014, so I am going to suggest that you go back up to the store to try again.

My iPhone 4S won't load email messages from my local carrier. It works sometimes and then won't. The local carrier says it is not them and to contact apple. Been happening since got Kindle Fire. Could this be doing it?

My iphone 4S won't load email messages from my local carrier on a regular basis. It says cannot get mail in use on another device. I thought everything was to sync together? Local carrier tells me it is Apple not them. It's been happening since I got my Kindle Fire about a month ago. Any ideas how to make everything work together????? Resolution
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.

If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.

If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.

One option that seems to resolve the problem with Kindles connecting to the AirPort is to change the Radio Mode on the 2.4 GHz radio to use the "802.11b/g" setting. Note that this would impact any 802.11n clients on this frequency by effectively reducing their data rate to a maximum of 54 Mbps.
You would change the Radio Mode setting in the AirPort Utility, as follows:
AirPort Utility > Select the Extreme > Edit > Wireless tab > Wireless Options
Radio Mode: 802.11a/n - 802.11b/g
Click on Update.

I have Skype with my Kindle Fire HD I am not being charged it's always been free but since I got my laptop they want to charge me for skype I also asked my Fiancee if he had skype for free on his laptop he does so why am i getting the message to put money on a Skype card?

Currently you can't selectively delete chat history on Skype for Kindle Fire HD. Only way to get rid of the complete history (together with all settings) is uninstalling and reinstalling the Skype app, I'm afraid.

I got a kindle fire he for Christmas and I want to install Adobe so I can read my textbooks on it. I have tried and all I get is it cannot read the file. The operating system is Linux safari 32 bit I think. Any ideas.nun

It's Not Linux. It's Android and not compatible with Flash Player.
However, you're probably looking for Adobe Reader.

says to use 1280x 800 and 800 x 1280 for android and amazon devices. Wouldn't it make sense for the kindle fire to have 1024x600 and 600x1024 resolutions for the spalsh screens?

A word of caution:
the Amazon Appstore checks for Kindle Fire support AFTER it accepts app updates. So a developer can unknowingly break KF support, and still get app updates accepted into the store!

1) All my apps use Adobe AIR.
2) For the longest time, they were all compiled with AIR 2.7 so there was no problem. I got a bunch of downloads, including from Kindle Fire users.
3) A week ago, I updated most of my apps to AIR 3.1, and broke Kindle Fire support, without my realizing it, because I didn't know that the KF only supports AIR 2.7. Unfortunately, all the updates with broken KF support were accepted into the store!!!
4) Now I am getting users complaining that their apps no longer work on Kindle Fire.
What should have happened: NONE of the updates should have been accepted after it was realized by your review team that they broke Kindle Fire support, while previous versions worked fine on it and KF users downloaded them. Reviewing KF support separately, after the initial review/acceptance, is not a good process!
In any case, I have re-submitted all my apps with the release note 'Restored Kindle Fire support'. What I did was use 'captive runtime' for compiling all my AIR 3.1 apps, which normally means that the app will not require an external AIR runtime to function. Hopefully, this will work this time. If not, I am going to have to re-compile everything using AIR 2.7, which is a major drag since some of the features I depended on are part of AIR 3.1.

How do I get Eprint to work on my kindle fire

I just got a new kindle fire hd and can't seem to set up printing from it my printer is officejet 6500a all in one printer.

The kindle fire supports the eprint home and biz app, which is available in the Amazon Market. This will allow you to print photo and document files from the device.
The other alternative is simply to email things to the printers email address.

Kindle Fire HD Replacement

Hi, I got a Kindle Fire HD for christmas, and it was purchased the day before Christmas Eve (the 23 of Dec.) so, there for, I have not had it for 30 days. I tripped with it in my hands the other day, and it landed face down and the screen cracked. Can I get it replaced or fixed?

Did you buy a Best Buy protection plan? If you have a protection plan through Best Buy, they will take care of it. If you are only under the manufacturer warranty, you are probably out of luck. Manufacturers don't cover accidental damage. There IS a 30 day return period, but only if the item has no physical damage, which is no longer the case with your device.
Another option you can explore, though... If you bought it with a credit card, some banks offer accidental damage protection on items purchased with the card. You'd have to contact your bank to inquire about this, though.

Skype and Kindle Fire HD

The Skype app came installed with my new KFHD. I logged into Skype with no problems. However, I also use Skype on my tv through my home pc. Since I am using the same account (my shortsightedness) I would like to create a new account for the KFHD. I cannot uninstall the app from my KFHD but is there any way to remove the account info and create a new account?

Kindle Fire HD and Skype recent update

Ever since the update on 11-28-12 I have a difficult time hearing my caller and my caller is having difficulty hearing me with the volume turned all the way up. Its not just on the Kindle its on my Sony TV and my son's MacPro. Anyone else experiencing this?

Kindle Fire and Adobe Air plug in + Air 2.7 + gpu + landscape + full screen

Alright I got a couple of issues here.
First I was on air 2.7 trying to convert an app that is designed to run in gpu mode, in landscape orientation, and full screen, well this is a known bug on 2.7 and the work arounds I found did not solve my problems or I was not clear on implementing them.
Then I figured I go 3.1, surely that issue is fixed by now, run the app on my Kindle Fire and it tells me my air is out of date so it prompts me to go to the Amazon app store for an update except when I do it just takes me to the free app of the day page and I can't manually find the air app through the built in amazon app store, I see it on the web version but cannot download it, and if I am having this problem all the users will too so some solution like getting it off the android market and putting on the fire manually is useless.
It seems that there is no plug in available on the amazon app store that will allow the fire to run applications built in 3.1, is this true? I've seen a few posts regarding this. And if true, why and when will this be fixed? I wasted a day with this problem when I could have been doing some design.
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Testing apk files on the B & N Nook/Amazon Kindle Fire

Can someone provide some guidance on how to test on the B & N Nook Device and the Amazon Kindle Fire. I am aware that both devices are Android-based and accept the apk files. However, I would like to test on both devices but I am not sure that these devices have the developer debugging options.

Michael - I got this exact same message yesterday from Amazon when I submitted my free DPS Tips app. Amazon approved it previously, but now they rejected it for the same reason. Currently, the Viewer Builder enables in-app purchases for all apps. Either Amazon needs to stop rejecting free viewer apps, or we need to add a setting in Viewer Builder to indicate the viewer is free. Someone from the DPS team is talking to the Amazon reps. I'll let you know what I find out. Sorry about the inconvenience.
