Gps is not working

Hello! Made a reset of all the content and preferenses on my iphone 4s. Then i tuned it and tried to use maps. When i open maps, i am said that iphone is unable to get my location. And all the apps are unable of getting my current location! How to get my gps working?

re problems with non functioning or innacurate GPS on iPhone
I have had this problem with my 3GS and had tried all the software resets and fixes.
Having read another post on this forum I opened my phone ( see Ifixit.com) and pressed on connector 6 (which is labelled as such).
Even though this did not appear to be loose it has completely fixed the problem ( which had rendered Satnav etc completely useless)
I have see other reports of the problem resolving spontaneously, after banging the phone and after changing other components and I imagine that this lead tends to come loose when the phone is knocked about giving no or an intermittent connection with the GPS aerial.
This seems a more plausible cause than OS problems. Which should affect all phones equally
I hope this helps other users

    Hi Symbianfear, Welcome to the Nokia Forums.
    Firstly please be sure that you have activated A-GPS in your phone settings.
    If you have already activated it can you please check that you have the GPS access point installed by going into your Settings, connectivity and then access points. If you have already got the access point profile, please delete it, restart your device and re-add the GPS access point.
    If you are still experiencing issues with the GPS please perform a soft reset using the code *#7780# security code by default 12345 if prompted, this will not delete any of your data, however it will restore the phone settings as they where when new.
    I hope this has helped

    We certainly want to make sure you get the most out of the GPS, wplaxico! Was this tested primarily outdoors? When did this begin? Any other recent apps of updates installed when this started?

    I have a 4s i upad te to ios7 and the location (GPS) is not working, mapa is working, but cant find places or tell me my location...  Can ana One help me ????

    Hello James,
    The flashing WLAN light means activity (data getting transferred). Try disconnecting all your devices and check whether the light is still flashing or disconnect the router from internet and do the check.
    Do you have your SSID as linksys or the default one? If your neighbor has the same SSID, then traffic could result from your neighbor's one. Try changing your SSID and password. Make your security WPA/WPA2.
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks

  • Tablet 2 GPS receiver not working

    I have a four day old tablet 2 model 3679-5XU that I purchased for traveling and using the GPS. I cannot figure out how to get it to function when not connected to WiFi or a mobil broadband connection. So far I have verified that the GNS Bus Driver and Geolocation Sensor drivers are at the latest version (19.14.5401.4). Is it just a matter of enabling the receiver somewhere in the software?  I installed the GPS Sensor App and it shows the status as ready with a lat and long, but no altitude and when I turn off WiFi it will not show anything. I did the same thing with the GPSTest App and the results are the same when I turn off WiFi. Reading through the forum I see there are a lot of GPS questions but nothing of this nature. If someone could offer some insight as to how to get the GPS working, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks,Roy

    After much searching I found a program that takes the signal and converts it to a user-selectable virtual com port.Puff. It works. The program is free to try for 30 day and $14.95 to purchase.  Here is the URL;http://www.centrafuse.com/us/centrafuse-localizer  When you purchase  car and something goes wrong you take it back to the company whos car it is. Tou would not take it back to the airbag company, if you had a faulty airbag. It is Lenovo's problem to fix. They want to blame it on the software. Well, if I call up Microsoft for support they say, "call Lenovo", since your software was pre-installed.If it would not work with existing software available, it should not have been installed./...

    Nokia! Take a care for me and we real say THANK YOU NOKIA and you can collect a more money

    First of all , you should update to the newest firmware (v20). If you can of course, for some network branded phones update is not available yet.
    As for GPS, first fix is taking a long time (5 to 10 minutes).
    In v12 and above A-GPS (assisted GPS) was added to speedup the process. It's using data connection for initial lock.
    And make sure you're not covering tha hash key, that's where GPS reciever is. It will get a fix, just be patient because it will take some time.
    Barcode reader is not for reading normal barcodes (like on products). It's used for Nokia's mobilecodes. You can check it here

  • GPS & Safari not working

    At first my new 3G iphone was working perfectly. Now I can't get GPS or Safari to work.
    When I click the Maps icon it brings up a blank screen and then returns back to the homepage.
    When I try to brows on Safari I get a message saying Safari can't open the page because it is not connected to the internet.
    Is anyone else having similar problems or got any suggestions?

    That doesnt sound good. Have you tried shutting it off and turning it back on? Stupid question I know, but it sometimes works. Short of that, you might just have to bite the bullet and do a restore.

  • Lenovo A 7000 : GPS is not working

    None of my navigation apps (e.g. Google maps) are working. When I tap the my location button, it shows a message 'Waiting for location'. I tried with 'Reset to Factory settings' and tried re-installing phone software as well.

  • GPS intermittently not working

    The GPS on my 5S has been iffy lately. It often shows my old location instead of where I currently am. If I toggle the location services off and back on, it will readjust, but I shouldn't have to do that. Anybody know what causes this? This happens even when I'm outside on the street so it's not an issue of not getting a signal.

  • GPS Suddenly not working good

    Hello all,
    I have an iPhone4, and my other 1/2 has a 3GS... My iPhone4's GPS had been flawless, been working great.
    Out of nowhere it started to have "compass interference", so I did the figure 8 motion to relive that, but even so now my navigation apps don't work well/if at all because they cannot get a lock, inside or outside of the car.
    I have tried rebooting, turning location services on and off, but no real luck on those.
    Is there something I am missing or a trick of some sorts? Any tips or tricks any of you Apple guys have up your sleeves would be awesome.

    I'm getting very interested in GPS problems across the iPhone range. Ive got a 3GS and the GPS satellite fix stopped working completely recently. A fix identified using jailbreak and an ssh terminal tells me a good proportion of these problems are with locationd, the gps process in the iPhone, or more accurately, I think that it's possible for some of the data this process uses to become corrupted; the "fix" involves stopping the process and deleting the data it uses. On restart, locations is forced to rebuild the data, and everything then works.
    I suspect this is true across the iPhone range - and worse, I think that the backup function in iTunes actually backs up the bad data. Thus, when you restore from backup, you actually put the problem back in! Either that, or GPS cache data isnt deleted when the iphone is restored.
    What we need is an option in iTunes, or the iPhone settings, to clear GPS ephemeris and related data down and restart locationd: this will save apple a fortune in support at genius bars, as I reckon everyone who is getting a replacement is just getting a reblanked refurbished iPhone with no hardware fixes - they could be turning them around in the back of the stores!
    We need to get some group pressure together to get an answer out of apple on this really - they do seem to have an approach which has much in common with the way the UK banks were dealing with overdraft fees - if you complained, they refunded just to keep you quiet and make sure you didn't shout. If this issue is an underlying gps driver or application demon issue, they should give us a way to work around the issue.

  • MotionX GPS App not working! Why does it ask for a password when I have no created one?

    I'm reporting a problem with MotionX GPS. See title

    You're tapping the blue button to the right of the network name. Don't, tap anywhere else in the network name.  (That's my guess)

  • F3507g GPS not working after sleep/resume Windows 7

    Under Windows 7 on ThinkPads with the F3507g Mobile Broadband Connection, there have been two long-standing problems:
    (a) after sleep/resume, the F3507g (Wireless WAN) disappears from the Fn+F5 menu;
    (b) after sleep/resume, ThinkVantage GPS does not work (forever displays Fix Type: N/A).
    By searching these forums, you can find past threads about these problems, none with a reproducible resolution.
    I am pleased to say that the latest driver update for the F3507g (v6.1.10.5  7UW708WW) appears to ameliorate problem (a) in that the F3507g Wireless WAN eventually re-appears in the Fn+F5 menu if you give it a few tens of seconds after a resume.  This update is available from:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-73681
    However, the non-working GPS after sleep/resume is still not solved.  Even though the "Wireless WAN" card is present and shown powered-on in the Fn+F5 menu, ThinkVantage GPS (2.60) is stuck on Fix Type: N/A, and the Windows 7 Weather gadget does not automatically discover the location.  Both applications work fine after a full Windows restart, but not after a sleep/resume.
    I have, however, discovered a work-around which restores GPS operation without a full restart:
    Open Device Manager;
    Expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers";
    Right-click "F3507g Mobile Broadband Device" and select "Disable";
    Wait for the system to settle down again;
    Right-click "F3507g Mobile Broadband Device" and select "Enable";
    Wait for the system to settle down again.
    Now you can press Start in ThinkVantage GPS, and Fix Type will quickly change from "N/A" to "No Fix", and then onward to satellite discovery.  And after a few false starts, the Windows 7 Weather gadget will discover the location.
    The fact that this work-around restores GPS operation indicates that the underlying fault is a driver software issue.
    The above symtoms and work-around have been verified on both a ThinkPad X301 and a ThinkPad T400s.  Neither have ThinkVantage Access Connections installed.  The X301, when previously running under Vista with the previous generation of drivers, did not display these symptoms: the symptoms appeared with the upgrade to Windows 7.

    Actually mine works fine after applying all the updates available on T400 w/ Windows 7 Pro 64bit. I can sleep/shutdown as much as I want and the GPS works.
    By the way, you have to goto your bios to reset your settings to default by pressing F9. Maybe you should try this and see if that solves your problem.
    The only GPS related issue that is not fixed is the issue of dual booting into linux. I dual boot into linux, and when that happens the GPS problem re-occurs once I log back into windows. The only way for me to fix the problem again at that point, is if I go back into the bios and hit F9 again, then re-enter windows.
    If I were to stay in a windows environment indefiniately, there is no problem. The problem is once I enter Linux, the problem in windows will occur again (maybe the powerstate settings by the linux kernal messes up the settings on the card).

  • GPS does not appear to work with data-roaming off and no wi-fi network

    I have been using an application called imarkmyspot to produce way-points for synchronising with my camera. When I am in my home country this works fine and a GPS location is found quickly.
    I've recently been abroad and had data-roaming turned off to avoid high expense. The point is that in this situation the GPS does not work (with imarkmyspot or Goggle Maps) unless I can access an open wi-fi network.
    So my question is, is this correct? Does GPS only work with either data access on or when within range of an open wi-fi network.
    If this is feature (bug) of the iPhone then this makes applications such as imarkmyspot rather useless when travelling. Alternatively it could be imarkmyspot that has this problem of course. But I'm quite sure Google Maps did not work either in this situation either.

    The iPhone's GPS does work without a data connection.
    Two weeks ago on a work-related trip I knew I'd be traveling a rural highway that would leave me without data/voice from any source for at least 45 minutes (no GSM service). Before leaving a city with data, I zoomed out using Google Maps far enough to show most of my route, then "nudged" the map so the application wouldn't try to get a data update for the map. I simply used the top power button to turn on and off the screen. The iPhone and GMaps tracked me through for the entire blacked-out section of my trip - I made sure the device had a decent view of the sky and it got a fix and nailed the location within a few seconds.
    Ironically, I'm returning that device in the next few hours for an exchange. The GPS hardware, it seems, has failed about a week ago - the device gets A-GPS fixes now (it shows the nearby 3G and EDGE towers), but won't lock in for more than a second or two. My iPhone's GPS worked, and now it doesn't - AppleCare told me my GPS hardware has failed - and you're may be exhibiting the same failure.
    Some A-GPS devices use their sources to get close by - like my TomTom GO and the ephemeris files it grabs from their servers to get updates on where satellite locations are - and then use the on-board chip to nail the device's position. From what I understand of the iPhone's assistance mechanism, the data tower's and Wi-Fi physical location needs to be correct and available in an accessible database somewhere - my iPhone was showing me near Houston TX (2200 mi/3500 km distant from my actual location) when using 3G data until the data source was updated.
