Grand total on some column

Hi,
My question is: Can I exclude grand total on some measure column in pivot view?
For example I have 3 columns. On columns Account1 and Accounts, aggregation is SUM, and on column Max(something), aggregation is MAX.
I have next situation.
Account1 Account 2 Max(something)
100 200 23
200 250 13
150 300 42
450 750 42 - GRAND TOTAL
But I want grand total only on columns Account1 and Accounts. For column Max(something) I don't want total at all.
Thank you for your replies.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply,
According to the link Below
http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/answer_xml,
We can able to change color for Grand total through XML, but the example is in 10g, there is nothing call saw:totalValues in 11g Currently, may be it is replaced with saw:displayGrandTotal, I tried that option also but it is not working.
Is there anything which we can do through xml, to achieve the above requirement?
Thanks

• Adding a grand total to the columns

Hi
I need to add a total to one of the columns in my report. I have set Aggregation rule as "Sum" but it is not displaying Grand Total.
Am I missing any thing or setting the rule incorrectly?
Please advise.
Thanks in Advance.
Jas

Hi Arvindh
Thanks for your response. I am not using a pivot table I just tried to add total to the table which is created by just selecting columns required in the Define Criteria section.
We can add a total w/o creating the pivot table also. By the way, I have found the solution. The key lies in the second step. If u want me to explain in detail. Just let me know.

• Grand total of calculated column and case function in the same calcultd col

Hi Gurus,
In 9.0.4, the Grand total of the calculated column is not working as per the CASE function. It is taking the ELSE formula for all records. Is there a way to correct it.
Thanks,
Pooja

Hi Pooja,
In the totals ,which u mentioned try using cell sum function instead of sum function.

I’m trying to sum up a column that is a calculation. When the grand total appears ,it just does the calculation for the line and does not sum up the actual numbers in the column. Any way to fix this

the example above shows that the lines calculate correctly , however, discoverer is taking the total line and making a calculation instead of adding the numbers up in the column.
I tried to look for Cell sum , but do not have it . I am working with Discoverer 4

• Grand Totals for GOURL columns

We are having an issue showing Grand Totals for GOURL enabled columns
We have enabled GOURL on the amount columns, To enable hyperlink we had to convert the the number column to character. Enabling the Grand total in the Table View is thorwing error "Function Report_Sum does not support non-numeric types".
Any input on the above would be of great help.
We are using OBIEE version 10.1.3.4
Thanks
Kranthi

You can try the following..
1) Keep the same name for all the amount fields in each column. (for example, first amount column field name is "Amount1" and second column field name is "Amount2").
2) Then write the code in the Calculate event of the Total field. (Use FormCalc)
Total1.rawValue = Sum(Table1.Row1[*].Amount1);
3) Similarly for Second column
Total2.rawValue = Sum(Table1.Row1[*].Amount2);
4) For the total of Amount1 and Amount2.
LoanTotal = Sum(Total1.rawValue + Total2.rawValue);
Hope this helps.

• Grand total (of all columns) in ALV grid

Hi Experts,
I have developed one custom ALV report in GRID format. Now Report output is displaying like below.
COL1 | COL2 | COL3 | COL4 |
TYPE1 | 10 | 44 | 05 |
TYPE2 | 01 | 20 | 35 |
TYPE3 | 05 | 10 | 20 |
=============================
sum | 16 | 74 | 50 |
But I need Grand Total for COL2 and COL3 and COL4 (i.e 16 + 74 + 50 )
This grand total line should be at the end of the internal table -- 140 .
The report output should be like below.....
COL1 | COL2 | COL3 | COL4 |
TYPE1 | 10 | 44 | 05 |
TYPE2 | 01 | 20 | 35 |
TYPE3 | 05 | 10 | 20 |
=============================
sum | 16 | 74 | 50 | ====> this sum will displayed when user select sum button on the Grid toolbar.
=============================
Grand Total 140 |
Suppose when I press sum button on the COL2. it should not change grand total. I mean Grand total should be like footer always.
Please advise
Thanks in advance.

Hi
For your requirment ,you have to fill the field catalog for each field for which
you have to create the the grand total and check the option DO_SUM.
If you neeed the sub total ,in the sort table you can check the option- fs_sort-subtot = 'X'.
Just try the belo code .
It will solve your problem.

• CANNOT SEE TOTALS FOR SOME COLUMNS IN DISC 9I (9.0.2.39.01)

We have made new reports in Disc 9i, column totals won’t appear on the report where expected, It just shows "SUM" and then blank, this is happening for all the new reports. Please help..
Thanks.
Glen

There are some cases where Discoverer cannot determine with certainty that the Totals or subtotals you create will be correct. It flags those totals as Values that cannot be aggregated. Go to Options-> Sheet Format and you can set what string you would like to see placed in those cells that Discoverer determines cannot be aggregated correctly.
Assuming that the blank totals are non-aggregable by Discoverer, there are some things you can do to to alter either your business area or worksheet or calculation that will enable you to get the totals you want. As this analysis takes some time and iterations, it is usually best handled through Oracle Support. Also see the doc and RN references to the EnhancedAggregationStrategy in the Preferences.
Also, given the version you are using it seems that you have just started using 9.0.2. You should strongly consider upgrading to OracleAS 10g (9.0.4) or at least upgrade to the latest 9.0.2 patch -> 9.0.2.54.

• Analysis report with totals on specific columns

I have an analysis report that I need to create totals on specific columns. If I turn on "Grand Totals" from the "Edit View: Table" section, all of the numeric columns will display grand totals. This is a nice automatic feature, but I only need totals of specific columns. Not all numeric columns need totals nor do Grand Totals of some columns make any sense.
For example, to display opportunity details, we will have on the report:
Opportunity Name, Item number, Item Description, Quantity, Price, Extended Price
Since the opportunity may have multiple items on it, having a grand total of quantity and unit price makes no sense. All we need is Grand Total of the opportunity extended price.
Is there a way to selectively turn on/off column totals or is it an all or nothing option?
Thanks in advance.
Edited by: nsidev on Sep 1, 2009 10:10 AM

Actually, i just solved the problem.
Here is what I did:
1. I added a column to the "Design Criteria" section (step 1). To keep the units consistant, I made sure that the data element was suitable for the value (I used a currency element). Ensure you note the position of the new column, mine was in position 11.
2. Under the newly added elements "Column Properties", I set it to HIDDEN and changed the name to "Grand Total"
3. Under the "Edit Formula", I changed the formula to be: SUM(<numeric column>)
4. In "Create Layout" (Step 2), I added a narrative view to the bottom of the page.
5. In the "Edit Narrative View", I set the appropriate formatting and added the following: Total Extended Price: @11
6. Ensure that "Rows to display" is set to 1.
Save and run
All done, works like a charm.

• Hide column result in pivot grand total row

Hello
Do you know if it is possible to hide the result of a particular column in a pivot grand total row?
I have several columns to which makes sense use a grand total row (as in a sum) but for others (such as average) it does not make sense in the light of the client business rules.
Any help on this matter is highly appreciated :)
Thanks in advance,
J Marques

I have a measure that represents the average time according to the dimensions it uses - and that works properly.
However, the grand total for that column shows me the average of the average times above. This is not correct that is why I want to hide it.As said by kishore, In pivot go to that time average time column -> Aggregation rule -> None, This won't affect the column avg value.
The grant total value will not come.
By setting this, are you getting wrong values?
Thanks,
Vino

• Grand Total is Incorrect

Hi,
I am having some problems using Grand Total on calculated columns (presentation calculations) with a TOP 25 page filter.
I basically have my calculated columns filtered by the Current Week repository variable, and then I want to add a filter to show only the top 25. That all works fine, but the grand total on my report is showing the total of all records, not just the top 25. If I add a normal (non-calculated) column from my subject area, the grand total works fine with the top 25 filter.
Is there any explanation or workaround for this?

Hello!
I had the same problem, and this fix solve one part of my problem with grand totals.
The other one is not solved:
We have a strong request to compare total_year measures against part_year measures (dinamicaly navigated with dashboard prompt).
I have a report in dashboard which includes 3 measures:
- plan_year_total (which is created in admin as measure of sales and at time_dimension logical level is year - and this works ok)
- sales_part_of_the year (which is navigated through dashboard prompt between)
- plan_part_of_the_year (which is navigated through dashboard prompt between)
Problem is when I want to show share in grand total row like:
plan_year_total / sales_part_of_the year
It gives out totaly wrong result.
Is there any other idea or workaround?

• About Grand Total in Tabular view report

Hi All,
I am working on a tabular report view. While working grand total on few columns, the title "Grand Total" is appearing below the very first column of report. Is any way to set the location of this title below any other column?
One more thing on which i need guidance, I have a calculated column(simply sum of two fact values) and i want to keep away this column from my grand total listed columns. For this i tried to set aggregation rule NULL but it did not work(In such case report column showing nothing. may be null values are coming in this case). I have also tried to CAST the fact numeric columns to CHAR. But it also did not work.
Could you please suggest me a way to do this. I am using OBIEE 11.1.1.3.0 version.
Thanks,
Archie.

I am working on a tabular report view. While working grand total on few columns, the title "Grand Total" is appearing below the very first column of report. Is any way to set the location of this title below any other column? You can simply try to format the heading here..by using some left padding and marking the horizontal alignement as centre or something. Play with formatting here..

• SSRS Totals by Month and Grand Total

I am almost done with this report. It uses alot of lookup functions to connect 2 datasets together. I have grouped the data by month and by a column called Alt. Now I need to get the sum for each month and then a grand total but I'm not
sure how to do this.
My data looks like this:
Year/Month Column: Alt: Number
14/01 A
50
14/01 B
25
14/01 C
10
Needs to add a Totals Row or something where it would say like:
14/01 Total = 85
14/02 A
55
14/02 B
30
14/02 C
20
Total Row: 14/02 = 105
Grand Total: 190
Is there a way I can do this? Should I use a matrix instead of a regular table?
Also since most of this is from lookup functions, I have to use reportitems! function in my equations, and usually it says that an aggregate cant be used with reportitems

I think you are combining the concept of the Local currency and the document currency. Currently, your ALV has the Document Currency values (e.g. EUR, ARS, USD) whereas (I assume) you have the local currency as the USD.
To get the total on the USD (Local Currency), you have to select and bring the Local Currency as a new columns. E.g If you are selecting data from BSEG than you must select DMBTR (amount in local currency) with the WRBTR (Amount in Document currency). Than You can than make a Grand total on this column.

• Grand Total & Headings as separate row

Is it possible to put the grand total BEFORE in a table view?
Can I display Table & Column Headings as separate rows in a pivot table?
I initially wanted to use a table view because I also need the Table & Column Heading to be displayed as separate row on top...(column properties in Table View: Display Column & Table Headings= As separate rows)...
but I also need the Grand Total to be on top (Before) but the only option in Table View is None & After.
I've seen that the Grand Total BEFORE is available in Pivot table view, but in Pivot I can't display column & table headings as separate rows.
Any idea how to have that 2? (Grand Total Before & Display Column & Table Headings as separate rows)
Thanks,
Janne

Hiey Kishore,
Here is the problem which I have. I have the table with 6 columns first 4 columns have details and last 2 columns have measures. I can apply color to Label and Measure. but the problem is that the whole line color does not change it just changes color of the column which has the label and the color of the Measures.. inbetween 3 column gets the default light blue color. Is there is a way to change that?
Thanks

• Grand Total problem

I have grand total problem. This is my pivot table.
A B A/B
1 10 0,1
2 4 0,5
8 3 2,67
{color:#ff0000}11 17 _3,27_ GRAND TOTAL{color} (0,1+0,5+2,67)
A - AVG type
B - SUM type
How to make obi calculate grand total like this:
A B A/B
1 10 0,1
2 4 0,5
8 3 2,67
{color:#0000ff}11 17 _0,647_ GRAND TOTAL{color} (11/17)
Is that posssible?
Would it help to add *<ReportAggregateEnabled>true</ReportAggregateEnabled>*
in instanceconfig.xml?

Conceptually Report Aggregate Enabled should work. Look into this blog article which refers same.
