Grant authorization to stored procs

I have users that I want to give them the ability to view functions, procs, packages (spec and body). If I give them execute any proc authority they can then see functions, procs and packages(spec only), however, they also need to see the package body. Any ideas on how to get this to work?

Package bodies will not be seen unless the users has 'create any procedure' privilege.
Alternatively you could create your own view based on all_source's definition and grant this view to your users.
The catprc.sql file contains the view for all_source, all you need to do is change
/* package body */
o.type = 11 and
privilege# = -141 /* CREATE ANY PROCEDURE */ to
/* package body */
o.type = 11 or
privilege# = -141 /* CREATE ANY PROCEDURE */

  • Java.util.PropertyPermission...not granted to ProtectionDomain(Stored Proc)

    I'm trying to develop a java stored procedure on Oracle 10.1.2 that makes use of many other libraries, (Axis, WSIF, custom libs), and I'm stuck on this permissions error. I've loaded all of the libs into the same schema under the same user, (with JAVA_ADMIN), and several other privileges. I loaded the files using the following command, "loadjava -verbose -debug -recursivejars -genmissing -resolve -time -fileout loadJava.log -user {userID}/{pwd}@{SID} someJar.jar". The error occurs when a call to WSIFProperties.getProperty attempts to access the org.apache.wsif.mapper or org.apache.wsif.mappingconvention properties.
    In a normal java2 environment, I'd simply edit the java.policy file to provide permissions to the codebase (file:/C:/spi4j2.5.4_J2ee1.4/coreLib/fsgWsif1.1.jar). Since Oracle doesn't have ProtectionDomains, if I add read permissions for those properties using the following command, "call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'SCHEMANAME', 'SYS:java.util.PropertyPermission', 'org.apache.wsif.mapper', 'read' )", it seems as if all of the other classes in the schema should be able to read the property, right? It appears the logfile dump below is showing the permissions that the classloader recognizes. Where did he get those? If they came from the DBA_JAVA_POLICY view, then why can't it pick up on the fact that I've granted read permission to the property it's trying to read? When I tried loading the classes without using the -recursivejars option, I got all kinds of ClassDefNotFound errors and couldn't even start the program, (I guess because it'd loaded the other jars as resources instead of unpacking the classes, the resolver couldn't look into the jars and locate the classes that it needed). The program works just fine outside of the database, (even without me adding read permissions for the codebase to access the properties in the java.policy file). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Granting permissions for JAVA STORED PROCS

    If I imported a java class file as user test and created a stored proc, how can I grant permissions to all the users in the DB? Do I have to grant permissions on JAVA CLASS itself when I load it or Do I have to grant permissions on the Stored proc or Both?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    null

    Note: I can manually add the file with the command -
    loadjava -v -user user/password@sid sqljdbc.jar (pg 261 in Oracle Database Programming using Java and Web Services by Kuassi Mensah)
    Which is what I have done to get this to work. But the question still stands - How do I get the sqljdbc.jar file to be loaded when deployed using the deployment descriptor?
    Thanks, Ken

  • Java Stored Proc, passing BLOB, not stored in a table.

    I have checked this article, and found it will not suit my needs.
    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/codesnippet/jdbc/lob/LobToSP.html
    I have even looked at the 4 articles on the "JSP How-To Documents" page.
    I need to pass in a BLOB to my Java Stored proc, but not store it in the DB - My java code manipulates the LOB and it should never go into the DB. I know I could do the normal store, get an id and pass to my JSP... but that is a poor way to implement this. Are there any code samples on how to do this please ?
    D

    WOW! That seems like a very bad design.
    Is it just the compiler that has the problem or is the PL/SQL code inside the stored procedure also affected? For example, if I'm doing an
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'insert ... INTO OtherSchema.tblTest';
    Is this going to be a problem?
    The problem with granting the access explicitly is the Archive Schema, which has the stored procedure that is failing, might not exist at the time when the other schemas are created. Therefore, there is no user to grant permissions to. I solved this by granting permissions to the role and when the archive user is created it is assigned that role.
    This seems like the proper way to solve this problem.

  • Can't execute OS-level command from java stored proc

    I've written a couple simple java stored procs, the first of which writes an file and the second attempts a chown on it. I can write the file (which is written as the oracle user) just fine. I need to chown it, but can't. Here's the first proc:
    public static String writefile()
    String fileName = "/joetest/test.xml";
    try {
    File f = new File(fileName);
    FileOutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(f);
    PrintStream p = new PrintStream(out);
    p.println("this is only a test");
    p.close();
    return "create file successful!!!";
    } catch (Exception e) {
    return "Exception occurred writing file:"+e;
    Here's the proc I've been stuggling with:
    public static String chown(String inString)
    String[] command = {"/bin/sh", "-c", "/usr/bin/chown notjoe /joetest/test.xml"};
    if (inString != null) {
    command[2] = inString;
    try {
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command);
    return "Ownership change success!! "+p;
    } catch (Exception e) {
    return "Ownership change failure?? err="+e;
    The package is created with:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE JOE.THISISATEST AS
    FUNCTION writefile
    return VARCHAR2
    AS
    LANGUAGE java
    NAME 'thisisatest.writefile() return java.lang.String';
    FUNCTION chown(Param1 VARCHAR2)
    return VARCHAR2
    AS
    LANGUAGE java
    NAME 'thisisatest.chown(java.lang.String) return java.lang.String';
    end;
    And I've granted the following privileges:
    begin
    dbms_java.grant_permission('JOE', 'java.io.FilePermission', '/joetest/test.xml', 'read, write, execute, delete');
    end;
    begin
    dbms_java.grant_permission('JOE', 'java.io.FilePermission', '/usr/bin/chown', 'execute');
    end;
    begin
    dbms_java.grant_permission('JOE', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'writeFileDescriptor', '');
    end;
    begin
    dbms_java.grant_permission('JOE', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'readFileDescriptor', '');
    end;
    Here's the error that I'm getting:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    Coincidentally, this is the same error that I used to get when I wrote the file without having been granted write privileges. Once I granted myself the proper 'write' permissions I could perform file IO just fine. Is there some runtime permission that I need to grant myself to run chown? I'm just guessing, as I can't find any permission like that in the java documentation. I have 'execute' permission on /usr/bin/chown and the oracle user can execute the command I'm attempting from the command line. ARRRRRGH.
    I am at my wits end with this. I've tried what seems like a thousand different syntaxes for the OS command and ran it from many different directories. Anyone have any thoughts at all as to why this is happening? I'm just clutching at straws now...

    Hmmmm. Granting 'execute' on '<<ALL FILES>>' to user JOE fixes this problem:
    begin
    dbms_java.grant_permission('JOE', 'java.io.FilePermission', '<<ALL FILES>>', 'execute');
    end;
    My security folks will not allow this when I port to production, but at least it is something.

  • Cannt execute stored proc of one schema in another schema from java app.

    I am posting my problem in this forum as i i though it could be server-independent.
    I am working on apache tomcat and spring framework with Oracle db (schema/user A)
    We access oracle db from our java application by setting jndi and works fine.We have sqlstatements, stored procs and functions all run fine.
    Now we create a role (DBROLE) with all permissions to that original db schema/user(A) . We created another empty schema B and assigned that role(DBROLE) to that user B.
    (We grant all kind of permissions on tables/packages of schema A to user role DBROLE and also created synonyms)
    Intentions are: to access the schema A though schema B from application and avoiding direct access.
    In our spring application, we replaced database-settings with schema B.
    Things work fine: When its plain SQL statement is run from Java code but Stored proc wont run and we get
    'Wrong num of arguments/data types' error.
    Also all stored procs are in packages.To execute stored proc in java code, we use SimpleJdbcCall.
    I also checked run stored proc from schema B and its works. Only from web app, it doesnt work.
    Please suggest,what should be done to make this working or if there is other alternative.
    Thanks

    Instead of importing a scema in another schema specifiy the schemas in the external-schemaLocation property.
    SAXParser saxParser = new SAXParser();
    saxParser.setProperty("http://apache.org/xml/properties/schema/external-schemaLocation", "xmlschema1.xsd, xmlschema2.xsd");

  • SQL Server Stored Proc/Database Permissions

    First of all, I'm not sure that I'm posting this in the correct place.  I'm a Windows/Active Directory Engineer, looking for some guidance on how other companies are managing/maintaining what I'm about to describe.
    We have a rather complex SQL Server environment with multiple two node clusters running multiple databases on each.  On their own, rather simple.  On each database there are different stored procedures that are being accessed by different service
    accounts for different (mainly) web services.
    Up until recently, we were running into issues deploying proper accounts and groups for this process.  We've got a multi-domain environment with trusts between them.  We follow IGDLA (AGDLP) to grant permissions... That is..
    Account -------- Global Group --------- Domain Local Group
    WebSvcAcct --- WebSvcAcct_Group ------ MyService_Group
    The Global group is granted the permissions cross-domain, following AD Group Scoping.  We currently track this, per service, in a Database access Spreadsheet, where we list the following in each successive column:
    Service, Account, Global Group, Domain Local, Database Server, Database Name, Database Role, Stored Procs
    Is there a tool/utility that can maintain this and allow Role-Based Access to it?  How do other companies maintain database permissions?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hello,
    Are you asking if there is something that can maintain your list or something that can help you with security?
    Most companies use groups, much like you have there and either give access to the group or use it in combination with database roles. This simplifies many different aspects of reporting and auditing.
    If you're asking about a utility, I don't know of any specifically for this but it shouldn't be too hard to make a powershell utility script to do this for you, interrogating AD, SQL, etc.

  • How to hide stored proc and tables schema

    hi,(sqlserver 2005 and sqlserer 2008 r2 express)
                I have to give my database to some body he has his own server, i do not want him to see my stored porcs code and/or name , and tables schema.
               I have used encryption to that,
    but i think , there is some code available on internet , which can be used to get the code from stored procs,
    please tel me how i can i accomplish the task.
    yours sincerely

    However, this works perfectly if the user is the owner of the database. Look
    that …
    • Create a new SQL login "login1"
    • Create a user named “login1” in master database
    • Grant CREATE DATABASE to login1
    • While impersonating login1, create a database called “dbteste”
    • Revoke CREATE DATABASE permission from login1
    • Revoke VIEW ANY DATABASE permission from PUBLIC
    • Register this server as login1
    • From the “login1” session, expand database tree. Now, you should see
    master, tempdb, dbteste
    • Grant VIEW ANY DATABASE to PUBLIC
    • From the “login1” session, you should see all the databases

  • Trying to call a stored proc from a form ?

    Hi im trying to call a stored procedure that create a web page
    any where from within a form. (the SP It uses the htp package).
    It does not seem to work.
    lets say in the PL/SQL block before the footer i pu
    <schema>.my_procedure;
    i get a not decleared <schema>.my_procedure error.
    Could someone help !
    Also is there a way to call stored proc directly from the url
    I tried httP://hostname/pls/portal30/<schema>.my_procedure
    unsuccessful.
    thanks

    For it to work, you should grant EXECUTE on your Procedure to
    PUBLIC.
    Have you done that?
    If yes then there is a problem.

    I use Stored procedure to update the records in table. I have converted my string into date using the Oracle TO_DATE function. But, when I use this format, it throws an error in the Receiver CC. (But, the message is processed successfully in SXMB_MONI).
    The input format I formed like below:
    <X_EMP_START_DT hasQuot="No" isInput="1" type="DATE">
    Value in Payload is like below.
    <X_EMP_START_DT hasQuot="No" isInput="1" type="DATE">TO_DATE('18-11-1991','DD-MM-YYYY')</X_EMP_START_DT>
    Error in CC comes as below:
    Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'SP_EMP_DETAILS' (structure 'STATEMENT'): java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "TO_DATE('18"
    Friends, I have tried, but unable to find the correct solution to insert.
    Kindly help me to solve this issue.
    Kind Regards,
    Jegathees P.
    (But, the same is working fine if we use direct method in ABAP-XSL ie. not thru Stored Procedure)

    Hi Sinha,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I used the syntax
    <xsl:call-template name="date:format-date">
       <xsl:with-param name="date-time" select="string" />
       <xsl:with-param name="pattern" select="string" />
    </xsl:call-template>
    in my Abap XSL.  But, its not working correctly. The problem is 'href' function to import "date.xsl" in my XSLT is not able to do that. The system throws an error. Moreover, it is not able to write the command 'extension-element-prefixes' in my <xsl:stylesheet namespace>
    May be I am not able to understand how to use this.
    Anyway, I solved this problem by handling date conversion inside Oracle Stored Procedure. Now, its working fine.
    Thank you.

  • Replacing null values in optional prompts and passing to stored proc

    Hi,
    I want to create a stored procedure with OPTIONAL prompts. When user does not pass a value for that parameter, I want to set the value for that parameter by selecting from a column in table then I WANT to use that paramvalue in sql within cursor of stored proc. How do I do that?
    In short, I want to do the following Here is the psuedocode:
    Create or replace procedure test (param IN varchar2 DEFAULT NULL)
    As
    var_param varchar(20);
    select param into var_param from dual;
    If param is null then select custid from table1 else var_param
    OPen ref_cursor for
    Select xyz from table2
    where fyy = var_para
    Can someone let me know the syntax on how to do this in stored proc?
    Regards,
    hena

    Hi,
    Merry Christmas, and welcome to the forum!
    Here's one way to do what you requested:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE     test
    (    param     IN     VARCHAR2     DEFAULT     NULL
    AS
        ref_cursor     SYS_REFCURSOR;
        var_param     VARCHAR2 (20)     := param;
    BEGIN
        IF  var_param  IS NULL
        THEN
         SELECT     custid
         INTO     var_param
         FROM     table1
    --     WHERE     ...     -- Unless table1 has only 1 row
        END IF;
        OPEN  ref_cursor
        FOR   SELECT  xyz
           FROM       table2
           WHERE       fyy     = var_param;
    END     test;Whatever you're trying to do, this is probably niot the simplest or most efficient way to do it.

  • How to generate a report in pdf from a stored proc

    Hi, i need guidance on how to generate a report in pdf from an oracle stored proc.
    The environment is oracle 10gas + 10gdb.
    On a specific event, a PL/SQL stored procedure is called to do some processing and at the end of the processing to generate report which has to be sent to the printer (and optionally previewed by the user).
    Can anyone assist me with this?

    Hi ,
    One 'simple' way is by using the DBMS_SCHEDULER db package and the procedure CREATE_JOB(....) using as job_type the value 'EXECUTABLE'...
    Read for further info in 'PL/SQL Packages and Types Reference'.
    If you have access to OEM ... you can configure this there using wizard.....
    Other way is to use the External Procedure call capabiblity of Oracle DB Server...:

    My greetings,

  • Crystal Report using Stored Proc in JSP problem

    Hello,
    I am running a simple report using a stored proc(oracle). It runs fine when I run the report through Crystal. But when I tried running it using JSP it gives me this exception -
    com.crystaldecisions.report.web.viewer.CrystalRepo rtViewer
    Error formatting page : Unexpected Query Engine error
    Can some one pls advise why I am not able to run this report through JSP?
    My other reports with simple sql runs fine in my JSP.
    Here is my stored proc --
    PACKAGE BODY MY_TEST
    AS
    PROCEDURE getrecordset
    p_cursor OUT cursor_type
    IS
    BEGIN
    OPEN p_cursor FOR
    SELECT
    FROM
    DSR_CLASS_SET;
    END;
    END MY_TEST;

    Thanks for your comments.
    If I run the same query, report runs fine. So I guess it should also able to run this stored proc.
