Granting Run Report permissions on a specific report only

Guys,
Is there a way to grant access to users only on a specific report so that users can run that report.
For example, we want to give access to a user group on a report "All deployments for a specified package and program".
Environment: SCCM 2012 R2
Steps Performed:
1. Created a security role called "Run specific reports"
2. Selected permissions for this role are ONLY, "Run Report" under Packages node
2. Added user group TB\XYZ in this role
As a result:
- User groups TB\XYZ were added in the security of all the reports in category "Software Distribution - Package and Program..."
- Users run the report "All deployments for a specified package and program" but don't see any values in Package drop down list. If we supply report parameter (package ID) in the report URL, it still does not work and shows incorrect
parameter value.
- Users can see all other reports and folders in SSRS e.g. when they access
http://servername/reports - this is not what we want.
Requirements:
1. What we want is to grant user group access only on one report "All deployments for a specified package and program" and all the related reports so that users can drill down further reports.
2. User cannot read data using SCCM console
3. User should not see/run other reports (we want to provide users direct report URL passing package/program ID as a paramter)

How is granting read permission only to those object that you want them you have access to giving them too much permissions?
The permission in CM12 R2 are far better (from a reporting stand point) than in CM12.
Exactly which report are you trying to grant accces too and why?
What is the business case for this?
I just want to grant permissions on "All deployments for a specified package and program" report in such a way that users can further drill down to following three reports:
-Status of a specified package and program deployment
-All system resources for a specified package and program deployment in a specified state
-Package and program deployment status messages for a specified client and deployment
So total of 4 reports. In SCCM 2007, it was easy to give access in the properties of the reports only (asp based reporting). However in CM12 (or R2), reporting is based on SSRS and what I've found is that we have to grant rights on objects those are part
of above reports e.g. packages, collections, workstations etc.
Giving "Run Report" rights to users does not grant access on view the information related to packages, collection or workstatons so report shows as blank. Another problem with "Run Report" permission for "Packages" in Security role is that it grants "Run
Report" access to all the reports in Software Distributions section.

    Have set up access to certain reports based on security settings in sccm so accounts in specific AD group can access certain sccm reports via ssrs reporting web site.  Utilized the very useful information in the links below.  I have a request for
    the group to access the network folder reports, but that means I would have to give RUN REPORT perms to the SITE permission in the security role, as that is the only group that includes the network folder.  I don't want to give them access to the
    rest of the stuff it includes, such as client push, client status, replication traffic, etc., as that would just cause confusion among the customer base.  I don't want to give them anymore than they need.  I tried giving the group rights to the individual
    reports in the network folder, but the problem is that since there is no access to the folder itself without doing the above, they can't get to the reports.  I could give them rights to the folder via SSRS but then SCCM would just overwrite that 15 minutes

    I'm not concerned about giving them more rights, I'm concerned about giving them access to reports that they don't need access to, otherwise there would be widespread confusion and misunderstanding.  This, in turn, would generate anxiety-based
    calls to the support desks, that I would like to avoid.  I'm not trying to hide anything from them, I just don't want to cause undue worry and confusion.  Make sense?

  • Can country specific reports run without implementing country versions?

    Can you run and use country specific reports in SAP if you donot implement the country version? Is it compulasory to implement the country version to run a country specific report?

    Hello Everyone.. Im having trouble running any reports off of the SCCM Console. So far I have full permissions in the SCCM console, and on SQL Server I am a sysadmin. Here is my error when I run it through report builder:

    Check the properties of your Reporting Point. See the user that is configured to connect to the data source. This user must have a SQL login (eg sysadmin)

    We need to setup certain groups or individuals with permissions for their reports only. Is anyone doing this? I reviewed some of the documentation but still having problems adding users. Do you use groups in RequestCenter, Cognos or both?

    You have to create roles (or groups) and assign people to them in RequestCenter, then manipulate which reports are accessible to those roles in Cognos by overriding permissions inherited from the parent. For example, say I create a role called "Financial Reports" in RequestCenter, grant it to some people, and give it a capability to run RequestCenter reports.     In SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Reporting Services uses role-based security to grant user access to a report server. If we want to restrict users’ permission to access report. We can configure the item-level role to get the effect.
    By default, if we configure report manager with Browser role of the root folder, users will have permission to access all folders in the report manager. Then, we can delete the Browser role for the other folders to restrict users to access. After that, when

  • My 2011 Imac 27" has been crashing and running very erratically and slowly. The only change has been the update to 10.8.1, I will paste the consol kernal panic report.  Is there a software conflict?

    Hi, first time posting on the forum. I own a 2011 IMAC i5 with 12gb of ram 27 inch. Over the last five days the computer has been crashing and running very erratically. When the computer has crashed the entire computer has become unresponsive and frozen, requiring a reboot or two. At other times the computer has slowed way down and the dreaded spinning beachball has appeared and the computer takes its sweet time trying to process something. Iphoto has also crashed independently when the beahball will not disappear. THE entire system is running way below its usual stellar quad performance. I have run a ram test and everything has come back clean, I have fixed any broken permissions, and deleted any newly added software (starcraft2). There is over 250Gb of hard drive free and the activity monitor shows no unusual processes. The computer automatically updated it self recently to 10.8.1 has this caused a conflict with some software? Or is there a deeper problem?
    Below are the console reports. There are also reports for unversalaccessd  ,  mdworker, Isregister, loginwindow, iphoto, DMproxy which can be supplied.

    The program "SAPLKARS" has exceeded the maximum permitted runtime without
    interruption and has therefore been terminated.
    After a specific time, the program is terminated to make the work area
    available to other users who may be waiting.
    This is to prevent a work area being blocked unnecessarily long by, for
    example:
    - Endless loops (DO, WHILE, ...),
    - Database accesses with a large result set
    - Database accesses without a suitable index (full table scan)
    The maximum runtime of a program is limited by the system profile
    parameter "rdisp/max_wprun_time". The current setting is 600 seconds. If this
    time limit is
    exceeded, the system attempts to cancel any running SQL statement or
    signals the ABAP processor to stop the running program. Then the system
    waits another 60 seconds maximum. If the program is then still active,
    the work process is restarted.

    You can set rdisp/max_wprun_time this value dynamically and chage it back to original value after your report is finished.
    before you start your reoprt or program do this,
    T-CODE --> RZ11 --> rdisp/max_wprun_time --> change value --> new value --> hit OK.
    After your report is finished you can switch back to old value.

  • Report - Status of a specific advertisement showing 900 resources when only deployed to 100

    we have a strange problem where we run the "Status of a specific advertisment" is showing some bogus data.
    We deployed to a collection containing 100 PCs and the report for that collection ID shows:
    Accepted = 300
    Rejected = 5
    No Status = 600
    I found another report to get us more accuate information via CCMexec.com.
    My question revolves around the default report is showing wrong information? This isnt this first time its happened. I am guessing its an issue with our database?
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    What Report did you find on ccmexec? Without this info it is impossible answer your question.
    If you look at the query on ccmexec and within the report, what is different between them?
    My guess based on the fact that you need to enter in Collection id, that is the major difference between the two of them queries.

  • Run time error in all standard reports

    I got a run time error in all standard reports and error as below.
    Unable to fulfil request for 8296200 bytes of storage space.                                                                               
    What happened?                                                                               
    Each transaction requires some main memory space to process      
    application data. If the operating system cannot provide any more
    space, the transaction is terminated.

    hmmm well reports work with variables and internal Tables.
    Those use memory. to be more specific RAM.
    in your case there would be about 8 MB of Memory needed, which you aint got.
    The problem may be that there just isnt that much available, or that one dialog work process is limited to some number below that.
    in anyway like all my precedessors told yah, contact you basis guys to check whether this is a problem or not.

  • "verify disk permissions" and "Underlying task reported failure on exit"

    This is more of a "How I fixed this problem, so others can benefit" posting than a current problem.
    I put my MBP to sleep yesterday, and then when I tried to come out, it just sat there. After about 15 minutes, I figured I'd just force it quit and then restart.
    After hitting the power button, it came up with the gray screen and apple logo with spinning gear and basically sat there for 20 minutes. Several reboot attempts were failures; sometimes I got a blue screen with spinning gears, but basically not much else.
    I tried rebooting with the install disk, holding down the C key, but it gave me nothing, tried rebooting in verbose mode, tried doing CommandOption+PR, nothing, etc. So, I tried rebooting while holding down the option key, and I could see the Disk Utility.
    I ran the Disk Utility to verify the disk, and that all came back fine. So, I ran Verify Disk Permissions, and i spit out "Underlying Task Reported Failure on Exit". The phone support people suggested I try reinstall with archive.
    So, I tried running install with Archiving, and that failed as soon as it verified the DVD was ok - basically it couldn't access the HD.
    So, I rooted around and did the following. From the Install disk, I selected "Terminal". Then, I did:
    cd /Volumes
    ls -lt
    There I noticed that for some odd reason, Macintosh HD was listed as the following permissions:
    rwxrwx---
    So, admin and group had read-write-exec access to the Mac HD, but others had nothing, which I thought odd. It seems like you should at least be able to boot the computer to the login screen, and if a user is not admin or admin group, you cannot login, but I guess that's not the way it's set up.
    So, I tried:
    chmod o+r Macintosh HD
    Then, I reran verify disk permissions. Again, I got the same "Underlying..." error. So I tried
    chmod o+x Macintish HD
    I then reran verify disk permissions, and it ran fine and the suggested that the Macintosh HD volume permissions should be set to:
    rwxrwxr-t
    So, I had the Disk Utility repair it to the way it should be, and now it all seems fine.
    This suggestion basically did not come from any Apple Support people or any forums, and it seemed like such an easy fix that I'm surprised nobody (at least nobody I've found) has had the same problem or needed the same fix.
    Further, I think figured out what happened. I took my computer to my local tech support guys because I wanted to turn off sharing for this MBP. So, under Macintosh HD, somebody changed the permissions under "Everyone" from "Read Only" to "No Access".
    It turns out that doing this basically creates the whole problem above by making the Macintosh HD unmountable or inaccessible.
    I find it truly odd that it would be so easy to remove access to the computer for mounting purposes, but this is the only thing I can think of. The tech guy realized his error and apologized and was also surprised it was so easy to hose the computer.
    Anyway, this is partially a warning to everyone as well as a possible fix for the blue screen problem, especially since it was a solution I could not find anywhere.
    Maybe Apple Support will see this and for its next update at least make a warning box when people try to remove "Read Only" access for "Everyone".

    If your Mac still boots and runs most applications correctly, but applying Software Update packages fails and you decide to run Disk Utility to Verify Permissions and it fails almost immediately with the "underlying task reported failure on exit" explore this posting. If you see other errors, have slow/varied disk performance, or hear nasty grinding/clicking sounds you have a much more serious problem this solution isn't for you.
    Use Applications, Utility, Console and check the messages appearing there each time you try Disk Utility. If you see:
    Failed to open database on '/'. Error 14, 13, Permission denied.
    You may have had your permissions reset on the receipts db. Which is found in
    /Library/Receipts/db/a.receiptdb
    At this point you have to enter the dark world of the Terminal and use a unix shell (command line).
    If you are not comfortable doing find a Unix/Linux power user.
    The simple fix for me was to open Applications, Utilities, Terminal and do
    sudo chmod 755 /Library/Receipts/db/a.receiptdb
    This allowed Disk Utility to read the file and move on to repairing permissions.
    When things generate error messages in the GUI part of Mac OS X ...always go check the messages in the logs via the Console in Utilities. These messages are 'down a level' and get you much closer to the real problem.
    Note that I did follow the instructions in Apple kb TS1901

  • Financial Reporting - Report permissions problem HFM 11.1.2.1

    In Workspace, Explore, I added a new report. If I right-click and choose Edit Permissions there are no permissions showing. I added the viewer role as view, interit. I even waited 24 hours and the users still cannot see this report, eventhough I can see it.
    Any tips for setting report permissions? I checked Shared Services and they are provisioned for theExplorer, Dynamic Viewer and Viewer roll for reporting.

    It actually did take a few hours because I did have them log off this morning after I set to view. I'm not sure if it is something I should pursue. This is a new environment (2 months).

  • Report runs in Report Builder but hangs in Report Server

    I am using Oracle Reports 10g to build a report with many formula columns. Everything was working perfectly till I added some condition in a query in formula columns. After adding it, report is not working in Report Server but runs only in Report Builder. If I removed this condition, report runs OK but I need it. This condition is very simple, just filtering be a decoded column (i.e. stts = 'D')
    Can anyone suggest how to solve this problem?

    what is the application server version you are running your reports on?
    If it is 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.2.2  and you are using PDF SUBSETTING (check the [PDF:Subset] section in the uifont.ali file in your server) then you are most probably facing Bug:5029259 . To resolve the issue read further Doc ID 363868.1 in Oracle Support. In short, your options are:
    1. apply patchset 10.1.2.3 or maybe patch 5029259 is enough.
    2. or make sure no NULL values are returned in the report. Use nvl where possible. If there was no problem before making the changes then maybe checking the new formula columns would be enough. I made this change myself when facing this issue and it appears that this resolved the problem.
    3. or change REPORTS_ENHANCED_SUBSET to NO in windows registry if under windows or $ORACLE_HOME/bin/reports.sh if under linux.  REPORTS_ENHANCED_SUBSET=YES is necessary if you are using TTF subsetting, though. So this might not be an option.

    I was waiting to get home before Tim replied... He got the better of me this time :-)
    You say you want to let your users run reports using XMLP just by clicking on an URL same way you do with reports and without having to login. If I got the question right and assuming that:
    1.Your company is not overly concerned on who runs what reports
    2.Who sees what data
    3.Your XMLP installation is on your intranet and firewalled from the outside
    What you can do is:
    On the main page of your XMLP Enterprise installation you should see a folder called "Guest". Any report you create under this folder is run as user "guest" which means you don't have to authenticate yourself as you would normally do.
    I have tested this on my home server and this is what I've done:
    1.Logged in as admin or any other user you've created with admin privileges created a report under the "Guest" folder.
    2.Copied the URL, on my server it is "http://samba.private.net:15101/xmlpserver/Guest/People/People.xdo"
    4.Logged off as admin and pasted the URL to a new browser window
    5.Hit return and Voila, my report runs without the need to login to XMLP.
