Grants given to a user give to another as well...

How is it possible the grants given to a user , given also to another....
For example :
connect scott/tiger;
grant select on dept to x;
grant insert on dept to x;
Many thanks,
Simon

As yingkuan points out, the table you're looking for is, presumably DBA_TAB_PRIVS.
I would point out, though, that 9 times out of 10, writing a script to duplicate the grants for a user from DBA_TAB_PRIVS is a bad idea. The proper approach is almost always to create a role, have the table owner (SCOTT in your last post, USER_A in the original post) grant privileges on the tables to the role, and grant the role to the end users. That is far, far easier than trying to keep grants in sync among multiple users.
Also, be aware that DBA_TAB_PRIVS only accounts for object-level privileges, not system-level privileges and that it only accounts for privileges granted directly to a user, not those granted to a role (DBA_SYS_PRIVS, ROLE_SYS_PRIVS, ROLE_TAB_PRIVS, ROLE_ROLE_PRIVS, and DBA_ROLE_PRIVS would all come into play for those).

  • Grants given to a dbuser located in another database....

    Hi,
    There are two Oracle instances(10g v.2) running... , let's name them source_instance and destination_instance. User A is located in one database and user B in the other.
    I want to grant select on tables on user B , which are owned by user A...
    Is it possible to grant such a grant and how...(using dblink...)???
    NOTE: I use Oracle 10g v.2 on Xp platform...
    Many thanks ,
    Simon

    In the voinovpa's case;
    You just need create dblink in schema A as folows:
    create database link B_LINK
    connect to B identified by <B_password>
    using <tns for B database>;
    so any queries like
    select * from any_b_table@b_link select from table of schema B using its username and password
    This is only possible if the user B exists in the database where user A have their objetcs, and the user A grant the privileges to user B.
    So, the user B is created in the another database, that use dblink, and.. ok.

  • Send email works for one user and not another ?!

    Hi there
    Am Apex Newbie and am developing in-house helpdesk / ticket / call logging / issue tracker type system ..
    Am putting final bells and whistles on app like sending email on raising of a problem. This is being done via Apex_Mail using new Send Email page process attached to a button.
    I.e it's not being done via UTL_SMTP explicitly in a trigger or anything.
    Here's the problem for userA the sending of email works perfectly for userB it doesn't work .. does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be wrong ?
    I thought I read somewhere that UTL_SMTP wasn't granted publicly in Apex and had to be explicitly given to individual users but I may well be mistaken.
    Any help / suggestions gratefully received .. all I can think of doing is logging onto Apex Admin and looking at the mail queue and see if that will give me any clue but Apex Admin is not really my bag per se ?!
    Thanks in advance
    Wiggywig

    Hi,
    Can you see any error from Apex logs?
    Check mail queue and mail log
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/admin.40/e15521/adm_mg_service_set.htm#sthref348
    What email address you use in From field?
    Somehow I think this relates more to SMTP server policy about sender than Apex.

  • Transfer music from one user account to another on the SAME mac?

    My family (wife, son, daughter, and me) share an imac but we all have our own user accounts. Our entire itunes music library is in one user account and is getting to the point of being unmanageable.
    Can I move some of my itunes library (e.g., my son's music) to another user account on the same iMac? Some songs were imported from CD and others were purchased from my Apple ID number.
    It's my understanding that an ipod can only be synced with one itunes library at a time, but I thought Apple also restricted the usage of music bought from itunes to a finite number of computers. If this is true, I think I would be able to transfer a group of songs from one user account to another so long as the user accounts were on the same computer.
    I was told that I could just drag the songs into a shared folder and then log into his account and drop them in iTunes.
    Some specific questions:
    1) Can I move all music files (CD and purchased) to the shared folder for dropping into his account?
    2)The purchased ones were purchased under MY apple ID which I do not want to give him access to. Should I create one for him or just have him use mine and wait for my password. I would like to put an allowance on his new ID number and keep it separate from mine. Would that make a difference in the future if I wanted to use one of his songs on my iPod or in an iMovie project?
    I just reinstalled my Lepoard OS X and put all my data back. I did not deauthorize anything before I did this. Did I need to? Or is even a clean install on the SAME machine ok and seen as the same authorization?
    Thanks in advance!!

    You can give him copies of song files, either by using a shared folder, or by putting the copies on a USB flash drive from which he can copy them to his own iTunes library.
    Any DRM-protected tracks that you have purchased from Apple can only be played if the user has authorization to the account(s) from which the tracks were purchased. Authorization requires physical access to the computer and knowledge of the password, and you can figure it from there!

  • Grant privileges to a user for user_lock

    user_lock.sleep (3000);
    i am using it in my procedure.
    is it require to grant privileges to a user for user_lock.

    There is no built-in package namely user_lock. Actually it is dbms_lock.
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/d_lock.htm#sthref3898
    I was using dbms_lock few days ago. Yes dba has to give the privilege to use this package.
    SQL> grant execute on dbms_lock to scott;
    Grant succeeded.

  • How do I transfer Pages from one user account to another

    How do you transfer Pages from one user account to another on the same Mac?

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
    If you haven't modified anything, Pages is installed on /Applications. All users have access to this folder, identified as "Applications" on the Finder sidebar, so you don't have to move anything, because Pages will work on all your users.
    If you have installed Pages on ~/Applications (being ~ your user folder), then you have to move Pages to /Applications. After doing this, you will be able to access to Pages on all users

  • How do I export photo's from one user acct. to another user acct

    Trying to export photo's from one user acct. to another user acct. on same computer into second users Iphoto app.

    File -> Export to the destop. Drag to Users/Shared Folder and then import from other account.
    Or use iPhoto Sharing:
    For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
    If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
    Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
    Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
    If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
    Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
    (You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
    In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
    However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

  • How do I transfer files and documents from one user account to another?

    How do I transfer documents and files from one user account to another?

    You haven't understood me. Follow these steps:
    1. Log in the user where are the files you want to transfer, and open a Finder window.
    2. In Finder, select Go menu (on the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type /Users/Shared. Now you're on Shared folder, so leave that window.
    3. Open a new Finder window without closing the old one, go to the folder with the files you want to transfer, and copy them to Shared folder.
    4. After copying the files to Shared folder, go to  > Log Out, and log in the other user.
    5. Repeat the step 2, and you will get access to the transferred files. Now, you can open them directly from this folder, or you can copy them to a folder on your user folder

    On the same Windows Vista computer, how to transfer / copy all music from one user account to another without using another computer or home sharing?

    Yes, that would work too.
    The iPad backups will not be transferred, am I right?
    Hmm, I think you are right. If I recall the backup exists in the user profile, so that would be the case.
    Is it sure that the iPad will be synced with User 2 without losing any songs?
    Yes, but to be safe, backup and sync the device with user 2 before deleting user 1.
    You should also maintain a separate backup.

  • Transfer Reports from one user account to another

    Hi,
    We use oracle discoverer 4.1, due to HIPAA the dba had to create new userids for our current users and lock the old ones, how do I transfer the reports stored in database one user account to another ?
    for e.g user abc123 has a report <abc.dis> stored in database he now has to use a new userid xyz123, he doesnt see <abc.dis>, how do I transfer this?
    I know the work around.. to save all reports from database to a network and open in the new user account, but we don't want users to do that, is there any other way?
    Thanks,
    Latha

    To avoid permission issues log into the account where the files are. Then transfer them to an external drive or a flash drive or jump drive. Then log into the account where you want them. Then copy them to the account.

  • How do I move the /Users folder to another disk

    I have a shiny new MacPro, dual proc, with four, one TB hard drives in it, running OS X Server on Mountain Lion.  The first disk is the startup drive, the other three are simply empty, partitioned drives.
    I am to be the sysadmin for this machine (and a half dozen Macbook Pros) for my organization.  I don't want user data to exist on the startup disk on this machine.  Right now, the only user that exists is my sysadmin account.  I want the three non-startup hard disks to hold the user data.  I think that what I want to do is map the /Users folder to one (or all) of the other three hard disks, and get that data off of the startup disk.
    How do I change the location of the /Users folder?
    Assuming this is possible, or desirable, the next question would be about RAID.  I have not created any RAID arrays using disk manager yet (this Mac Pro does not have a RAID card).
    Should I first create a concatenated RAID set from the three additional disks?  I see no advantage to striped or mirrored sets, I will have a HUGE external drive for TimeMachine, and disk access speed is just fine.  But, I think I'd want drives 2, 3, and 4 to act as one big drive.  I think the concatenated RAID set is the answer to that.
    Thank you,
    Jess

    How to relocate system and user data to another drive:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4337
    http://chris.pirillo.com/how-to-move-the-home-folder-in-os-x-and-why/
    I would only use TimeMachine as an add'l, not primary, or only method for backups.
    How to clone your system:

    http://macperformanceguide.com/Mac-HowToClone.html

    http://www.macperformanceguide.com/blog/2012/20120711_2-MacPro-internal-clone-ba ckup.html
    With drives of 2, 3 or 4TB now why use three and the one time I used Apple's concatenate, no I didn't like the way it made use of drives. So I would either stripe or mirror, and maybe not even  using  Apple Disk Utility.

  • Move a query to from one user group to another user group

    Hi,
    it's possible to move a query (SQ01) from one user group to another user group ??
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    You can copy queries only if you have the authorization to make changes. Within your current user group, you can copy all queries. However, queries of other user groups can only be copied if the InfoSet used to define the query is assigned to both user groups.
    To copy a query, proceed as follows:
    1. Choose the name of the query you want to copy on the initial screen.
    If you do not know the name, use the directory functions to display the query directories and then choose a query to copy from there.
    2. Choose Copy.
    3. Enter the name and the user group of the query that you want to copy in the dialog box. Furthermore, you must enter a name for the copied query. The system proposes values for this.
    4. Choose Continue.
    This takes you to the initial screen. The query is added and appears in the query directory. You can now continue.
    Regards,
    Amit
