Graph line texturing

Applying a texture or gradient to a line series in the BI Beans graph (from JClient) using the SFX component only results in a white line. The same code gives the right result for bar series.
Is this supported?
We're trying to get dot patterns on the lines to help color blind users.

as far as i know its not possible to have them dotted. However, beside of different line width you could use markers with different symbols that should do it.

m_graph.setMarkerDisplayed();
m_graph.setMarkerShapeInLegend();
You can customize the marker symbol on the individual series.

How can i dynamically vary the color of one graph line

I was looking on the developer zone and noticed several people are looking for a way to change the color of one graph line. Simplest case I would like to know: a graph is running, then you press a button and from that point on the color of the graph changes, but doesnt change the old data line color. THis way the line will consist of different colors.
The property node changes the whole line, and the line is always just one color. It should be possible to make the line consist of different color sections, anyone know how?

The application is actually not as slow as it seemed, i had some settings set wrong (anti aliasing in plot, and some functions in advanced, when you right click on the graph)
Especially unchecking the anti-aliasing makes it much faster
Also, just plotting point and not a line, or alternatively, changing the interpolation makes it faster.
Anyway, the attached files do not rely on processor so much anymore, see for yourself

Iam using a table in numbers to plot daily graph lines. If I fill a cell with a text box at say zero it plots the graph. I can't actually set the cell value until the actual day but the graph plots it at zero when I don't want it to plot anything. Is tho

The answer is (sort of) in your subject, but edited out of the problem statement in the body of your message.
When you use a stepper or a slider, the value in the cell is always numeric, and is always placed on the chart if that cell is included in the range graphed by the chart.
But if you use a pop-up menu cell, you can specify numeric or text values in the list of choices for in the menu. Numeric values will be shown on the chart. Text values will not.
For the example, the values list for the pop-up menu was:

1
Choose
-1
-3
-5
The first pop-up was set to display Choose, then the cell was filled down the rest of the column. Any text value (including a single space, if you want the cell to appear blank) may be used instead of Choose.
For charts with negative Y values, the X axis will not automatically appear at Y=0. If your value set will include negative values, I would suggest setting the Y axis maximum and minimum to the maximum and minimum values on your menu list, rather than letting Numbers decide what range to include on the chart. Place a line shape across the chart at the zero level, and choose to NOT show the X axis.

Problem with Pivot Table with Graph: Line Bar Combo

Hello people!
I have a problem with pivot table and line bar combo (all in the same view (pivot table))
I have some measures and one dimension in my report.

If I choose my graph line bar combo automatically choose "line" measure 3 (last measure in "Show Controls"). How can I do if I want my measure1 for line and I don't want modify my pivot table?

Ok, I'll explain my problem again. In my pivot table I add graph vision and I want in the same view (Pivot table). My graph is "Line Bar Combo" and I don't know how but the last of my measures belongs to right AXIS, if I change order of my measures I can see in my graph the measure that I want in my right axis BUT also it changes the order of my pivot table.
This is my problem. I think that I can do that with different views but I lose my selector view to view graphic and my pivot table at the same time.

I dunno, but some CSS properties are configurable in CSS as well as code. Others it would seem, can only be set with CSS. If you find a property that does what you are looking for, I suppose you could try using that to determine the code equivalent, if there is one.

Make graph line transparent programmatically

Hi,
I would like to be able to make graph lines transparent from within LabVIEW. Is this possible? I can find property nodes for every other property, but I can't see the one which turns on the Transparent bit. Any suggestions?

Hi Ian,
By "graph lines" I assume you mean the plotted data? If so, then you could use the property node for "plot color", change it to write and then wire a color box constant set to transparent (T) to it.

Graphs (line)- not showing timing correctly (X-Axis)

My dataset produce a column express as HH:mm:ss. So it means several rows by hours
The report is build up with a graph - Line.
Unfortunately, the Y axis (the horizontal axis showing timing) displays all the records correctly, but the X axis does not display each timing record (labeling).
Question:
how to show each record along the x-Axis (I tried to adjust the setting in the x-Axis properties without success)

As per my understanding, there is a line chart, the records of Y-axis display correctly, labels of X-axis are not displayed entirely. You want to show each label of X-axis.
The axis interval defines the number of labels and accompanying tick marks on an axis. On the value axis, axis intervals provide a consistent measure of the data points on the chart. However, on the category axis, this functionality can cause categories
to appear without axis labels. We can specify the number of intervals we want in the axis Interval property. When we show properly formatted DateTime values on an axis, a chart will automatically display these values as days. To specify a date/time interval
for the x-axis, such as an interval of months or an interval of hours, we must format the axis labels and set the type of axis interval to a valid date or time interval. In this case, if the values displayed on the x-axis must evaluate to a DateTime data type,
we can set x-axis labels’ interval type to seconds by following steps:
Right-click the horizontal, or x-axis, of the chart, and open Horizontal Axis Properties.
Click Number in left pane. From the Category list, select Date, from the Type list, select a date format to apply to the x-axis labels.
Click Axis Options in left pane.
In Interval, type 1. In Interval type property, select Seconds.

How to break graph lines between 2 years in Answer

Hi gurus
I have a graph that shows current People voluntary turnovers target and actuals for last 12 months
So, for the current period it will show 2009/04 until 2010/03.
I would like my graph lines to be broken between 2009/12 and 2010/01 and not to continue. Can you please let me know how to do that and is it possible at all?

You need to use a Wipe Build, in the Build Inspector. Select the line you want to appear, then apply the build to it.

Bar Chart- How to center graph lines

I am very new to Xcelsuis and am fighting with someing that is easy to most, but driving me crazy.
I have a Label Bar that poplulates a list box and when I click on an item in the list box the correct information appears on the bar chart. The problem is that is is all pushed to the bottom of the graph. I need it to space accordingly in the center of the graph.
Please know that I can have anywhere from 1 bar chart line or 40.

Have you tried the ignore blank cells in series and values options. These are on the behaviour tab.

Graph lines on screen

I am having an unusual problem with the display on my iPhone. A few days ago I started getting about a dozen horizontal lines running from about the mid-point of the screen, some running to the left, others to the right. If you're familiar with line graphs, they look a lot like a histogram. To make it even more weird, some are growing longer every day while others have stayed the same length. Any ideas what's going on?

It sounds like your screen is flaking out. Does a reset (hold the sleep/wake & home button until the Apple logo appears) or a restore in iTunes correct the issue?

3d graph line segment

I'm trying to find a way to draw a series of x,y,z points to a 3d graph with each point linked to the last with a line segment. I have been successfull in plotting a series of points to the 3d graph indicator in LabView but I cannot figure out how to connect them with line segments ... does anyone know how this might be done? Thanks in advance for any help.

When the cwlinepoint property is activated the graph draws a line from each point to each point which is not what I'm trying to do ... the code I have written is extremely basic ... three 1d arrays each containing number set (one array with x coordinates, one array with y coords, ect.) these are then passed to the CWGraph3D invoke node ... then the points are plotted to the 3d graph as just points ... which is somewhat usable for what I am trying to do but I was surprised to find out that such a functionality was not already built in to LabView. I thought that there would have been a relatively easy way to do it but I have not been able to find it on my own, so I thought I would put it out there and see if others had already figured it out. My search of the forum yeilded nothing. Again your help is greatly appreciated unclebump!!! Find attached code. Was written in Labview 7.1 but should be usable in 7.0 I think.

Why does the line width of a printed chart/graph vary from the on screen width?

The line width on a printed chart appears to vary from the screen line width due to the difference in the resolution of a printed page versus the monitor. The reason why it does this is that the screen is approx. 72 dpi. When you make a line that is five pixels wide, it looks like a swath of color. The printer is (typically) 600 dpi. When you make a line that is five pixels wide, it is still five times as wide as the other plot, but it doesn't look like the screen. We prefer to print plot data as finely as possible with the printer resolution so that we are portraying the data as accurately as we can.
