Graph shared x values

I have data where there is four columns of data. On the numbers on Mac you can share the X-value in column 1 with the y values in the other 3 columns. Is there a way to do this on the iPad numbers app? Looking to generate scatter plots to check for errors in data entry from experimental trials.

You can. Assuming you've got the chart already created, "just" tap on it to select it, then tap "edit references" when that pops up. The sneaky bit is to then press the settings cogwheel that's appearead at the top right of the screen, there's an option under there to "Share X Values".

How do I graph multiple bit values on one time axis?

I want to graph multiple bit values, all of which will change back and forth from 0 to 1, on the same time axis, but I don't want any visual overlap between the different bit value traces. Now I could do this by graphing bit one as either 0 or 1, bit 2 as 2 or 3, bit 3 as 4 or 5, etc., but I would really rather have multiple Y axes showing 0 to 1, stacked vertically on the same time (X) axis.
You could visualize this as multiple pens on a strip chart continuously recording different values. Each pen has its own vertical area in which it writes, but all pens could be writing data from the same numerical range.
Hmmm... I think my description might be roughly as clear as mud, but if anyone out there can figure out what I am asking and has potential solutions, please let me know.

Thanks. I will look at that VI, but I think I have already seen it. My problem is that I have CAN data coming in for an hour or so, but the time interval between receiving specific CAN arbitration IDs varies, so I want to plot the X axis against specific, varying time values, not a standard dT. I'm not sure I can do this on a digital graph, but I haven't given up hope yet.
BTW, I am receiving 8-byte CAN packages. Some of the bytes represent actual values, but I need to break others up into individual bit values to see error and status flag settings. Once I break the bytes into bits, I convert from analog values to digital values.

How Can i retain the Shared Variable Values after PC rebooting

I am facing a paculiar problem with Shared Variables. I have an application in which shared variables are used for data communication.
One of the application requirement is to retain the variable values eventhough PC is rebooted or started after crashing.
As per the my understanding, the variable values will retain eventhough the PC is rebooted. But here i can observe a paculiar problem like some library variables are retaing the values while some others not. I enabled logging for all the variables.
I tried many ways. like logging enabled, logging disabled, changing variable names, changing process names etc... But i am not getting a consistent behaviour.
I hope some you can help me in solving this issue.. "How Can i retain the Shared Variable Values after PC rebooting"

What do you mean by not getting consistent behaviour.. this will all depend on excatly when the crash happens i.e. before the write or after.
Surely a better method would be to log the data to a file during the reboot...
I beleived the value read back
will be the default value for the shared variable's data type.
The LabVIEW DSC 8.0 module adds more functionality to the shared variable, including initial values and alarms.
If you enable an initial value on a shared variable, when the variable
engine comes back on-line it will default to this value. Setting a bad
status alarm for the shared variable is also a good way of handling
this type of event. Additionally, if you are using a LabVIEW Real-Time
target such as Compact RIO or Compact FieldPoint, it is appropriate to
consider hosting the shared variable engine on the real-time target.
These devices have watch-dog capabilities and are typically the
hardware controlling the critical pieces of an application. Most
Windows or PC-based targets do not have these fail-safes.
I guess, if you could explain to me again that would be great. From my point of view, if I have a cRIO and a Windows PC. If the windows PC crashes, the cRIO will still update its shared variables. Then once the PC has started up its own shared variable engine, and the bindings are loaded, it will once again continue to update its copies of the variables.

How to create an array containing shared variable values

Hi
I am trying to programmatically create an array containing shared variable values and their names. I can get the variable names by supplying the process name to the get shared variable list function. How do I then read the value of all the shared variable items returned?
I have used a data socket open to open a connection to all variables when my program starts. I then use datasocket read on the opened connections to write to an array. This works fine until I try to write to one of the variables using a shared variable node. The variables writes can take from 4secs to 2 mins. When I remove the shared variable node again all is fine. Also when I stop using the data sockets, all is fine.
Is there a conflict between shared variable nodes and data socket writes to the shared variables?
Can anyone help? I cannot easily post example code because I am reading the variables from a Wago PFC (PLC) using OPC.

Sorry I forgot to mention the LabVIEW version, its 8.20. I have tried saving the shared variable node as a sub VI and it makes no difference.
Attached is a stripped down version of the software. You will not be able to connect to the IO server because it requires some Wago hardware and software. You may spot something I have done wrong with the I/O servers, variables or sub VI's.
The main program that runs is called 'HMI Engine' in the 'Framework' folder. There may be some other things in the project that aren't used in this example. I have removed all but the variable connection part of the code.

Add AAA Client Errors,Shared Secret value must not be blank.

When i add the AAA client to the ACS 4.2 90 eveluation software installed on win2003 std OS with SPk 1 gives the below error when entered the shared secret value then submitting it.
"Shared Secret value must not be blank"
what could br the cause?

This could be related to the browser it sounds like the ACS might not be receiving the Shared Secret from your input.
The ACS 4.2 does not allow a AAA to be added without a shared secret key.
CSCsr68278 ACS 4.2 does not allow a blank TACACS+ key
Make sure that the ACS IP Address is added into your Trusted Sites (IE). You could also try updating to the latest version of Java.

Is it possible to generate a user event when shared variable value change on RT target?

I understand not wanting to waster resources on polling but I am not aware that LabVIEW can automatically generate an event on a SV change.
Maybe a better solution...
You could implement lower level TCP communication (i.e. have a look at STM - simple messaging protocol) for passing data betweeen RT and PC (instead of using a SV). You could send a generic command (boolean trigger maybe?) from your RT system when the value of whatever it is the SV is storing has changed. You can avoid polling on the non-RT system this way.

The control limit for the material is 30. I want to encorporate this value also in the graph and show the deviation.

X y graphs remember old values

I have a XY Graph and when i run my vi Graph shows right graph what i want.
Problem comes when i run it again. Old values appears to graph and new values
start draw onto same graphs and result is mess.
I initial graph zero values begining of vi and reset it but still same problem.
What is wrong ?

How to get shared date value from subreport to main report

Hi,
I need your help in passing the value of a running total that is located in the subreport to the main report. The running total in the subreport is getting the maximum of the Effective Date (which it is type in the database is date) for each group and it is value will change on the change of the sequence no. group. I am printing the value at the group footer which displayed correctly. Now my issue is that how to pass the value from the subreport to the main report as a date. I have created a formula that it is having the code:
shared datevar ddd := date(0,0,0);
ddd:={RTotl0}
The above formula is not compiled and it is first giving me an error at line 1 that date(0,0,0) is not accepted. Then when I removed it, it gave me an error that ddd:= can't have a running total to a datevar.
So can you please help in getting the value from the subreport and then to pass it to the main report as a formula as I need to include it in other formulas which it compares the dates.

Are you displaying the shared variable on the Main Report's group footer as well?
Try changing the code to:

Creating multiple Line Graph having common values..

I've created one application process for creating Multiple Line Graph.
And i've integreted two tables in this graph, where values may be common for both the tables. In this case, for common values, instead of getting overlapped I'm getting scattered graph(its totally abnormal). Please help me if you 've any idea about this issue.....?

Producing a line graph of int values and saving as an image

Hi,
I wonder if anyone could help me with this. I have 2 arrays of integer values that I would like to plot as a line graph (e.g. X[ ] and Y [ ]) and then have this line graph saved as an image (the format isn't too important but PNG would be preferred).
Could somone point me in the right direction of an easy way to do this?

Hi i'm new here, I'm trying to build a new concept for an interface inside an operating theatre - What I was trying to do (to start with) was make a line dynamically draw itself from a set of values (which I have in an excel spreadsheet) - gradually revealing itself over time like in the screens you see on medical drama's. How would I go about doing this?

Well first off you need to store your data somewhere, I suggest XML. Then you can use this data to draw a graph dynamically using the drawing api. To draw a single line you could do something like this.
myClip.graphics.moveTo(0,0);
myClip.graphics.lineTo(point1.x, point1.y);
myClip.graphics.lineTo(point2.x, point2.y);
To animate that you would simply need to interpolate a point that lies on the line connecting point1 and point2. Then you could ease your way to the end point (point2) and redraw the line at each frame. Its not very difficult to do once you are comfortable with the drawing api.

Check the range against which line is plotted, you may have to reduce that range to see accurate values.

How to create 2-Axis chart all sharing x values?

I'm trying to create a 2-Axis chart while preserving x-value sharing, i.e. my four paired data sets should be plotted in Scatter mode, I think. To be more clear, I wish to "combine these two charts below into one", with the second Y-axis on the right for the second chart (whose numbers are obviously higher):
When I attempt to create a 2-Axis chart via the Insert menu, it changes the x-axis data (mAs) into its own data set, treating it as if it were a dependent variable:
mAs is the independent variable, upon which the others depend ... I can't figure out how to get Numbers to realize this. Sorry for my rambling tone -- I think I should call it a night, but I wish to get this done. Is my problem clear? I want to create a 2-Axis chart, effectively "combining" those first two scatter charts into one 2-Axis scatter chart. Please help!

There is no option for a two-axis Scatter Chart. You can simulate it by scaling your data in such a way that it fits the chart and aligns with a second axis that you manually paste into the Sheet and combine with the chart so that it appears to belong there.
Only the Scatter Chart plots values vs. values. All the other charts plot values against category names (text).

another solution would be to use separate XY- Graphs and make them partially transparent as suggested in the attached VI. But then you have to ensure that the plot areas don't resize. I don't know whether this is much easier than using picture indicators.
