Graphic bug with HTML5 video

Hi,
I am experiencing an ugly graphic bug in Safari 5.0.2. Looks like this: http://tinyurl.com/24cl9t8
Occurs on this website: http://cargocollective.com/woodyholl when you open a project (girl on the beach for example)
Background video is embedded via <video>, all layers above are relatively simple HTMLCSSjs. The project pages contain embedded videos (vimeo etc.) and javascript slideshows.
Did this happen to anyone else? Is there a fix for it?
Thanks in advance,
Flo

the bug occurs even with just a js-slideshow inside a project, no Flash involved
Ah, I misunderstood.
Of course, it might be a bug affecting some machines/OS builds - see http://bugreport.apple.com for that.
If you want to track down a possible cause on your mac - another install/different boot disk should eliminate any software cause. Or there might be settings for the specific graphics card?.
Certainly some graphics issues seem only to show with safari and/or flash, despite being a hardware problem at heart. The Mac Pro section here would be the place to explore that, with specific card details & after running the hardware test from dvd.

  • Is there any way to View video with HTML5 video browser, as from wikipedia articles, on my IPad mini?, Is there any way to View video with HTML5 video browser, as from wikipedia articles, on my IPad mini?

    I do a lot of research using Wikipedia articles.  Sometimes those articles have video attached.  When I click on the play button of the image, it opens a floating window with the first frame of the video, but it's not moving. A thin banner at the top of it me: "For a better video playback experience we recommend a [ HTML5 video browser".  And touching the play button ( hoping it might play anyway) has no effect. It will not play.
    Is HTML5 a PC/Windows only format? Or is there an App that will alow me to use these videos on my  iPad mini?  I've spend 6 hours already trying to find out what I can do about this, and I've made zero progress.  I've checked out a handful of apps in the app store, and don't even know what I'm looking at.  I got the Wikipedia app for mobile devices, and it doesn't offer the videos in the truncated articles it provides.  I've spoken to several Apple techs at the Applecare phone number, and no one there seems to know anything about it.
    surely, I can't be the only one with this issue.  Please comment, please help.  Thank you all.

    Dear Bob,
      I downloader a VLS Streamer from the Apple app store.  It requires some kind of helper software to run, which, as far as I can tell from the video at the developer's site, allows one to download content from one's mobile device to their computer.  Since I don't have a compatible computer for my iPad to link to, the instructions don't help my situation.  I emailed them with my query and will probably hear from them sometime this week.
       I've lived with this problem for the 3 months I've had my iPad, and I'll keep after it until I have a solution.  But right now, I've run out of steam.  If this lead helps me to resolve my issue, I'll come back and HELPFUL or RESOLVED every response you've given.  I'm very grateful for your help.  Sorry I'm so utterly clueless.
       Thanks once again.  Please don't cringe if I get back to you another day.

  • Issue with HTML5 video not playing

    Hi,
    I've set up a simple HTML5 video test in Dreamweaver CS4.  I pulled the code needed from the W3 schools site:
    http://www.w3schools.com/html5/html5_video.asp
    After making a few adjustments in my code for file path and dimensions, I uploaded the clip and web page it to my server.  Here is the result and I'm having trouble with browsers; in Chrome it plays great; in IE 9, the video is jerky and the toolbar does not have the fullscreen option like in Chrome:
    http://designerandpublisher.com/multimedia/5/video.html
    I also uploaded everything to a second server, one completely different than the one above.  The result is worst - again, the video plays fine in Chrome, but in IE9, the video does not even show up at all.  See below:
    Does anyone know how to resolve this?  Thanks.

    In the end, you should end up with a piece of code that looks something like this:
    <video id="YourID" width="600" height="400" preload="auto" autobuffer autoplay controls>
      <source src="YourVideo.mp4" type='video/mp4; codecs="h.264, aac"' />
      <source src="YourVideo.webm" type='video/webm; codecs="vp8, vorbis"' />
      <source src="YourVideo.ogv" type='video/ogg; codecs="theora, vorbis"' />
      <object width="600" height="400" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
        data="flowplayer-3.2.7.swf">
        <param name="movie" value="flowplayer-3.2.7.swf" />
        <param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" />
        <param name="flashvars" value='config={"clip": {"url": "YourFullVideoPath.mp4", "autoPlay":false, "autoBuffering":true}}' />
        <p>Download video as <a href="YourVideo.mp4">MP4</a>, <a href="YourVideo.webm">WebM</a>, or <a href="YourVideo.ogv">Ogg</a>.</p>
      </object>
    </video>
    This has all 3 video formats and a Flash fallback that plays the mp4.
    I use http://www.mirovideoconverter.com/ to convert to all the formats required, which I just realised Jon has already mentioned. It's a very easy converter.

  • Apple - PLEASE fix the graphical bug with Dock and Stacks! PLEASE!

    Using popular Mac games such as Diablo II, Freeverse's Wingnuts, Ambrosia's Aperion, and Blitwise's Super DX-Ball (as well as a LOT more) results in a common graphical glitch with the Dock and stacks, making fan stacks totally useless until I restart my iMac. Killing and relaunching the Dock doesn't fix it. Only restarting my Mac temporarily sorts it out. This is a highly annoying bug most often set off by games that Apple STILL hasn't fixed as of 10.5.3. So I let every developer (who I do not blame, BTW) know whose product results in this bug, in the hope they will apply pressure to Apple. Leopard has been the buggiest release since 10.1 IME and Apple is taking there sweet time about crushing such crippling bugs. Suffice to say it's really ******* me off.
    Here is a screenshot from another 24" iMac afflicted by this bug after running a game:
    <http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/5324/corrupteddockandmenuletpk1.png>
    Notice the open stack is just grey bars. The icons and names are not
    showing.

  • HT4589 final cut pro x 10.0.6 and 10.0.7 Bugs with neat video

    In Final cut pro x 10.0.6 and 10.0.7 (unlike 10.0.5) have a bug, which produces corrupted frames (incorrect colors,inverted,mirrored,uppside down...etc.) when certain types of plug-ins are used. one of them that i have bye is neat video. If you think of bye final cut pro x, dont bye it!!! Stay away from it because it has TO MUCH BUG!!! What was apple thinking (Sorry they dont think) when they uppgrade from FCPX 10.0.5 to 10.0.6 and then to 10.0.7 without fix the bug???

    I did so but it did not change things. I checked fpr disc issues and found error and repaired the disk, but that also did not work. I think my issues is not enough ram, I'm only have 2G ram. Final cut did not do this initially but yet I have sevearl spots or projects now total 6 but thay are all short videos. surely 2G would let you edit sevearl short videos. There is not a full length motion picture on it, but soon will be if I can get the final cut to work properly. I did get rid of a lot of videos butr thern again it maybe because I have my hard drive partitioned due to error in harddrive. but sense I repaired onle the partition that the final cut was on. Perhaps I should repair the other partition yet it only has storage of videos etc. I'm kinda lost unless maybe I get all new hard disc and use an external drive. I see issues aboutr Final cut a lotr on interrnet, what up with that, maybe I need something larger then an Imac with a heck of a lot disc space and RAM RAM RAM. u can reply here or to [email protected]

  • Plugin container bug with flash video.

    Using latest portable FF4 and latest flash plugin, While playing flash videos the "plugin container" module of FF starts using up 100% cpu and whole computer is bogged down. even after closeing the page with the flash video the plugin container module sometimes stays stuck at 100% cpu. If I close it, the flash plugin crashes and I would have to restart FF to get workin again. This has happened with past releases of FF and flash also, so updating is not working for me. Have sent crash reports many time now..

    That can be caused by clearing the cookies via "Clear Recent History".
    * https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
    * Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history" > [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings
    * Firefox > History > Clear Recent History
    * Tools > Clear Recent History
    If you use "Clear Recent History" to clear the cookies then Firefox also tries to clear the cookies from plugins like Flash (LSO) and starts a plugin-container process for each plugin and that can add extra time and can cause an unresponsive script error to appear.

  • Bug with deleted videos?

    I think have found a small bug in the iPod touch.
    Today when at work I decided I wanted to add some videos from my work library to my iPod. So I set it to manually sync and copied the files over.
    I then noticed that the video menu contains an item I deleted earlier in the day from the touch (this item does not appear in my library at work, only in my library at home which I haven't connected to since deleting the video). If I played this item it was only 3 1/2 minutes long which is less than 1/10th its original length, and it was all black. Trying to scrub through the video results in the video player exiting as it does when you finish watching a video.
    Can anyone else re-create this? If so I'll report it as a bug.
    Thanks

    If I want to see this Import Video dialog, I have to go through the insert option and then choose FLV or F4V.
    By cons, there is a frame (play, stop buttons) that appears around my video and I can not put it in my table of contents ( it doesn't show in the Video Management) . Since I want my video (an avatar) in the table of contents, I have to go through: Video - Insert Video. By cons, when I do that, I can not find the Import Video dialog....!
    I'm creating  online training and I put an avatar (in the TOC) at the beginning and the end of my video. It is therefore essential that my avatar is found in my zip files.
    Thank you very much for your help and  for your quick responses!

  • Graphical Bug with Yosemite 10.10

    So even with all the cool bells and whistles that Yosemite brought to the table, Pro Tools 10 users (like myself) discovered a sever glitch. Our plug-list is blacked out. Completely invisible! If you place the cursor over the where the plug-ins would be they will show up, but they disappear soon after that. Does anyone know how I can fix this without digging too deep, or is this something that Apple will have to fix on 10.10.2?

    This is the user-to-user discussions-support area. Apple employees rarely respond here.

  • Safari with 10.7.3 -Still no Screen Sleep Fix on HTML5 Video

    Yesterdday 10.7.3 was released with new Safari and there is still NO fix for the Full Screen Sleep issue with HTML5 Video, whats wrong with you Apple, this bug is since Lion released with Safari,5.1 now 3 Versions later this small bug is still not fixed, but already known, i dont want to use Caffeine or such stuff, while Apple sugggests the Web to use HTML5 why is the support for basic Features so bad?

    Solved!
    A Workaround:
    Get the Webkit Nightly Build , download and add to your App Folder, make it the Default browser, follow the instructions to show your homepage, after this you almost done, than download
    RCDefaultApp, open System Preferences launch RCDefaultApp, go under Apps, search for Webkit and mark all all associations, Safari is no more dfeault for something, after this, go to Extensions Pane and search for the safariextz Extension, now set it to Webkit as well, now you are most up to date and Webkit updates more often than Safari ever did ^^

  • Problems with Flash video streaming in any Browser (Windows 8.1)

    Hello.
    Since maybe the last Chrome update (to version 42.0.2311.90 m - I tried both 32 and 64 bits versions) or some Windows 8.1 updates (I don't know for sure), flash videos don't even start to buffer - they only play after the full content is downloaded (or loaded in the site's player) . So, If I try to watch a video from a Flash Player based interface (like Dailymotion, or Vimeo), I have no streaming, and I have to wait a long time, watching a "1%" or a load wheel until the full content is available to watch.
    This is happening with all browsers, not only Chrome (IE and Firefox too). I tried to update flash player (first, version 17,0,0,169 and then tried the beta, the one released April 14, 2015). No difference at all. So, I think this might be a problem with the flash player itself, or with some Windows settings.
    So, lets go to the facts:
    - That happened suddenly for no apparent reason - one day it was working, and on the other day it wasn't;
    - I have the latest versions of all browsers I use (Chrome, IE and Firefox);
    - My Flash Player version is, currently, the latest version;
    - I tried old Flash Player versions. didn't work;
    - This is not happening with HTML5 video players, like Youtube, so i think it's not a codec problem;
    - I have the latest nVidia graphics driver. And it was happening even before I update the driver (I have a GeForce GTX 770);
    - I tried disabling the hardware acceleration on Flash settings, nothing happened;
    - I use default Windows Firewall and Defender. Tried to disable firewall, nothing happened;
    - I had searched all over the internet for the answer, but I can't find it. I already did all what the troubleshoot pages from Adobe said to do;
    - My internet connection is fine. It's a fast connection, and It's on wireless. I have several PCs connected to this network and flash videos work fine with them, only in this specific machine isn't;
    - I tried uninstall flash player and install again several times, with several different versions. Didn't work;
    - Tried disable different versions of flash player on Chrome too, nothing happened.
    The thing is, I can imagine that this might not be only a flash player problem, but since it's the only plugin problem I have, I thought that you might have the answer.
    Thank you.

    Please work through the video troubleshooting guide.

    If you're still stuck, please follow the directions in the guide on providing the dxdiag report and additional information about what you tested and saw.

  • Safari 6 lost audio in HTML5 videos

    I used to be able to play HTML5 videos in Safari without a problem--but as of the past week or so, I get no audio. I did a couple of courses through Coursera this summer and the HTML5 videos worked fine. But now that I've started new courses, I have to use Chrome (which I don't like) or use the Flash versions of the video which are not as good. Anyone else encountering problems with HTML5 videos audio?
    I've seen older posts about Safari not playing nice with Youtube HTML5s; but that's a long time ago and my Safari was working fine with HTML5 until the last week or so.
    My MacBook Pro is mid-2012 and running : OS X 10.8.4 (12E55)

    I was just searching for a solution to this exact problem before posting it here myself.
    I am also a regulat Coursera student and had managed to watch and hear the HTML5 option videos without problem.
    It must be difficult to visualise for people who aren't signed up to Coursera but not unlike YouTube, there are both Flash and HTML5 versions of lecture videos with inline content often in the form of quizzes (or tests, as we call them in the UK!). However, unlike YouTube, it is possible to change settings on the video page.
    Just recently (probably aroung the same time Dominique noticed problems) the audio ceased functioning using the HTML option and the in video content and quizzes stopped using the Flash option.
    I reported the problem to Coursera but got a pretty unhelpful response.
    From Coursera:
    Sorry to hear about this, and thank you for letting us know.
    We have not had an unusual amount of students reporting issues with the video playback. If its a specific Video, please let us know which one so we can check it. If its the same for all videos on this site, and the problem is slowly getting worse, it sounds like an issue with your browser or cookies and cache.
    First, could you please try clearing your browser’s cookies and cache and then let me know if the problem persists? You can find instructions on how to clear various browsers here.
    (Link to page which lists the following)
    Google Chrome (newest)
    Note: Ubuntu users may have to install the chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra package to make the videos work in Chromium.
    Firefox (23)
    Note: The video speed change feature for lecture watching is not yet supported in Firefox.
    Safari (newest)
    Internet Explorer (9 or newer)
    Also, could you kindly tell me what happens if you try this in another browser? You can find a list of Coursera’s supported browsers here.
    If those suggestions don’t work, would you mind sending me a screenshot of the problem that you encountered? This will help us better diagnose the issue.
    I got the feeling from the response that they hadn't read my message properly as it is not really possible to send a screenshot of either missing quiz or audio.
    Anyway, for the record, I had already tried disabling extensions etc. and have cleared cookies and cache as Coursera suggested which has not brought the HTML5 audio back.
    Every now and then, I do get an in video quiz using Flash but it's only about one in ten lectures. But the problem is extremely fustrating because it means that I have to load the video lectures multiple times (depending on how many quizzes etc. there are to watch the video in Flash until it reaches a quiz then reload it in HTML5 then reload it in Flash until the next quiz etc. etc.

    hi. when i open the sys preferences, i always have a graphic bug, with for example the printer icon squared and very big. any solutions? thanks

  • Safari 5.1 HTML5 Video performance issues

    Since upgrading to Safari 5.1 i am experiencing performance issues while playing HTML5 videos on Youtube. The video takes ever to load, while loading the whole browser becomes unresponsive, in the end forcing me to close the tab and wait for the broswer to recover on its own.
    After upgrading to 5.1 though performance has great improved in general and i am loving it, but this problem with HTML5 Video is quite troubling.
    I am using Macbook 5,2 (mid-2009) with NVIDIA 9400M

    Go to Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any intstalled, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari. Try a video.

  • Firefox 29 cannot play HTML5 videos

    I have been trying to play videos on Vimeo on Firefox, but all I can see is a black screen instead of the video, even though I can hear the audio. This problem occurs with all websitest that host HTML5 videos. I have observed that this problem mainly occurs for videos of the type H.264/MP4.
    I have tried disabling all extensions but the problem persists. However, if I choose Restart with Addons Disabled, then the problem gets resolved and I am able to view the Video and hear the sound as well.
    I cannot imagine what's wrong. I have Disabled Hardware Acceleration and even Reset Firefox and the problem still persists.
    Please help.

    For issues with HTML5 videos, you can try to disable the HTML5 media player by setting a few prefs to false on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    * media.windows-media-foundation.enabled = false
    * media.directshow.enabled = false
    You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar and you can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue
