Graphical Mapping to a Simple xls file

Hi,
I have to generate an .xls file. For this I am using the excel xml format as the target message in mapping.
I need some help in mapping my source to target.
please help
The SOURCE xml  is:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ns0:HRShiftMasterData xmlns:ns0="urn://hmel.com/SAPERP">
     <HRShiftMasterRow>
          <PAYCODE>10000001</PAYCODE>
          <DAY_1>a</DAY_1>
          <DAY_2>b</DAY_2>
     </HRShiftMasterRow>
     <HRShiftMasterRow>
          <PAYCODE>10000002</PAYCODE>
          <DAY_1>p</DAY_1>
          <DAY_2>q</DAY_2>
     </HRShiftMasterRow>
</ns0:HRShiftMasterData>
The TARGET MESSAGE as:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!-- edited with XMLSpy v2011 sp1 (http://www.altova.com) by a (a) -->
<?mso-application progid="Excel.Sheet"?>
<Workbook>
     <Worksheet ss:Name="Sheet1">

  • Graphic Mapping:IDOC to File-Avoid Error in Adapter Engine

    Hi all,
    I'm using Graphic Mapping in my IDOC to File scenario in which each segment in source IDOC will generate a ROW in target File with the condition: DATBI >= currentdate (and some other conditions)
    I have a UDF and use the mapping function CREATEIF for this purpose:
                                 DATBI -> UDF -> CREATEIF -> ROW
    Problem scenario: In the source IDOC if all the segments have DATBI < currentdate then there is no ROW created, and I get the error in Adapter Engine
    Exception in XML Parser (format problem?):'java.lang.Exception: Message processing failed in XML parser: 'Conversion configuration error: Unknown structure ...
    How can I avoid this?
    I've tried to put this condition using XPATH in Interface Determination and got the error.
    There is a way to use function current-date() in XPATH condition?
    Thanks for your help,
    Elaine

    Hi all,
    How can I "suppress the row node if condition fails"? I'm new in PI, so please give more details.
    My FCC as follows:
    Record Structure: Record, Row
    Row.addHeaderLine 0
    Row.fieldSeparator ,
    Record.fieldSeparator 'nl'
    Row.endSeparator ; 'nl'
    It works fine if the condition satisfied.
    In Message Mapping, I've use Test to double check my mapping, and in the scenario that conditions fails, there is no Row in the target message.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,

  • Graphical mapping issue with useOneAsMany if segment does not exist

    Hi all
    I have an issue with graphical mapping in an IDoc to file scenario. I need to have header level fields mapped to line item fields. Whether or not and how many source header segments of the same type exist depends on a qualifier (QUALF). This is generally working if I use the following graphical mapping:
    if QUALF = 001 then <source>  ->  removeContext  ->  useOneAsMany  ->  splitByValue  ->  <target>
    ... with setting QUALF, <source>, and the second input for the useOneAsMany to the highest possible context node.
    Nevertheless, if the segment with the qualifier 001 does not exist in the source then the mapping throws the error "Too few values in first queue in fuction useOneAsMany". Whatever I've tried, the mapping wants to execute the useOneAsMany statement anyway and I haven't found a way to omit this. Whether the target would be created with an empty value or not created at all would be secondary. Would eventually somebody have a solution to this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Daniel

    Daniel,
    try using mapWithDefault function before useAsmany
    if QUALF = 001 then <source> -> removeContext -> <b>MapwithDefault</b>->useOneAsMany -> splitByValue -> <target>
    I think it takes care even if the value occur in the contaxt or.

  • SEEKING: Simple searchable content or database from XLS file

    I have a client I am creating a site for on BC (eMarketing Plan) who has a simple xls/asp driven database. They do not wish to upgrade to eCommerce - too much of a price jump for the WebApp feature.
    Basically, it would be a searchable list with roughly three categories. I thought of a custom search, but it would be a bugger to create a page for each entry.
    Is there a simple solution that could be used within the eMarketing plan to do what I am in need of? Something that might bring in the xls information and have it be searchable with a result?

    First thing to remember is that if you host the CSV file anyone could potentially download the entire thing so you'll have to make sure there are no privacy issues with that.
    You'll need something like this Papa Parse - Powerful CSV Parser for JavaScript it will load the CSV into something that is *more easily* searchable with JavaScript. Keeping costs down I would assume your search would be a "from start to finish" type as you could have mulitple records, and sorting will start to get expensive so you might want to order the CSV initally by date or name or something like that.
    There are with liquid other ways to do this with BC and JSON but I think the above solution might be easier to implement if you just want an export -> upload type of system.

  • Is graphical mapping best for a large IDoc mapping to file?

    Hello,
    I have to map an IDoc to a file and 450+ lines are mandatory or needed to go a file output.  A lot of the lines need some value mapping.  Is XSLT or Java mapping better for this task?
    John Xi

    Hi,
         If you require to do a lot of lookups and for large payloads, it would make sense to go for a Java mapping as in this case it would improve performance to some extent.
    For large messages, please refer the follwong link to improve system performance.

  • Using XML for Live Data- How do you get the XML file to pull data from another xls file?

    Post Author: joseph_atkinson

    I was wondering you can help me.
    I am currently receiving an *.xls reports on a daily basis (same report, same format, different data). I have put this report into Crystal Xcelcius Designer 4.5 Professional version and created the dashboard I want.
    I am aware of the xml mapping functionality where I can map from the *.swf straight to a database. However, is it possible to map to an xls file that will change on a daily basis? (obviously I can you the refresh button in Designer, but I need to automate this process).
    Your help really would be appreciated.

  • Is it possible to replace  XSLT mapping in place of Graphical mapping

    Is it possible to do XSLT mapping in place of Graphical mapping, in any normal scenario?
    Means the fuctionality we do by using Graphical mapping(like the operations by using node functions etc...) could possible to do with XSLT Mapping?

    HI
    yes it is possible to replace the graphical mapping with the XSLT mapping.
    But using XSLTs degrade the performance of the interface and moreover they are not easily maintainable.

  • Mapping Split using the Graphical Mapping Tool

    Hello,
    I am a little confused right now... so I turn to you for help!
    I found this excellent blog:
    /people/claus.wallacher/blog/2006/06/29/message-splitting-using-the-graphical-mapping-tool
    It details how to do a message split using the Graphical Mapping Tool. WHich is exactly what I want!
    But then I found this on help.sap.com:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/42/ed364cf8593eebe10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
    Which states that:
    Messages cannot be sent by using different Adapter Engines in a mapping-based message split. This affects configuration thus: All receiver agreements that have a receiver interface from the mapping entered in the key must only be assigned communication channels with the following adapter types:
    -          RFC Adapter
    -          SAP Business Connector Adapter
    -          File/FTP Adapter
    -          JDBC Adapter
    -          JMS Adapter
    -          SOAP adapter
    -          Marketplace adapter
    -          Mail Adapter
    -          RNIF adapter
    -          CIDX Adapter
    I have a simple mappling split where I want to take a file containing multiple materials and send them one by one to a PROXY into SRM. To send to proxy I want to use the HTTP adapter which is not listed above. BUT if I read it correctly it will work, as long as I dont try to do the interface determination based on the mapping.
    Is this correct, that it will work I mean? I think so but not sure about the wording in the sentence above, and wanted to check before I go destroy my mapping.
    Thanks!
    Nam

    Hi,
    If your scenario is simple and straight fwd like from one source to one target then you can split message without BPM. As Priyanka said in the message mapping go to Message Tab and set the target message occurance to unbounded. Then in the Interface Mapping in the target interface section you will find the occurance in the last column, change occurance to unbounded.
    While doing configuration you have to go for Enhanced Interface Determination thats it.
    Provided you are above sp14, incase of any lowere SP'a you will not even able to activate your mapping program as it will expect ABSTRACT interface to do multimapping.
    Thanks,
    Prakash

  • XLS Files created by SSRS will not open in Numbers on the iPad

    The company I work for creates business intelligence reports which are used in an education environment and are created daily and e-mailed out to staff.  These reports contain fairly simple tables with pupil data.
    One customer uses iPads extensively to maximise the quick response to this (behaviour) data.  There is an issue which seems to be prevalent in newer versions of Numbers where these documents can not be opened.  I note a previous discussion on this matter where the only solution was to save the file in excel and then the sheets would open.  This is not really an option here.
    I presume that there is some data missing in the header of the XLS file or something but if anyone has any information on this, especially if I can adapt the report in any way to include this data, please let me know if you have overcome a similar issue and how you went about it.
    Thanks,
    Pete H

    Hi - thank you for your responses.  I don't have an iPad so testing is all being done on site.
    The report is based on three tabs, each producing a basic table with data in.  I can create the reports in CSV and they work fine although the format is all wrong (no tabs etc etc) - but that would lead me to believe that it is nothing in the actual data which is causing the load error.  It also seems fairly intermittent, so I tested with a few different file sizes to make sure it wasn't this - and again nothing too conclusive there.
    I presume quicklook is the built in function to view a file, I spotted this today but again it won't open in that or then again when asked to open in Numbers.
    Hunting around this forum it seems there is some issue in general with opening some XLS files (especially ones created by SSRS) depending on iOS version, so that is the route I will be looking at tomorrow.  Putting these files through a save loop in excel isn't really an option, so I am going to test with a go between e-mail tomorrow which has in some cases seemed to do the trick - maybe appending something to the original file.  Some other posts have suggested that an XLSX file seems to work a lot better and that is supported in MS SQL 2012 which is on the way for our customers at some point.
    Definitely an awkward one!
    Thanks,
    Pete

    Hi,
    There is no hard and fast rule for using the mapping techniques.
    Graphical Mapping is used for simple mapping cases. When, the logic for your mapping is simple and straight forward and it does not involve mult hiearchical mapping requirement. and context handling.
    Java and XSLT mapping are used when graphical mapping cannot help you.
    When the choice is between Java And XSLT, XSLT is simpler than java mapping and easier. But, it has its drawbacks.  XSLT can lead to a bad perfrormance if the Source XML is huge.
    Java Mapping uses 2 types of parsers. DOM and SAX. DOM is easier to use with lots of classes to help you create nodes and elements, but , DOM is very processor intensive.
    SAX parser is something that parses your XML one after the other, and so is not processor intensive. But, it is not exaclty easy to develop either.

  • How to use  Advance java function in graphical mapping in XI 2.0?

    Hi,
    currently I am using a simple java function to make an RFC call to R3 system.
    I want to avoid making connection for each lookup. Instead I want to make a single connection for whole message queue and get the corresponding values in some array or container object.
    please suggest a solution.
    I think this is possible using Advance java function, but I am not able to find any example on using Advance java function at help.sap.com.
    thaks in advance.

    Hi!!!
    I'm not sure if I understood you well.
    Do you want to preload some data into your structures in the memory and keep them there so you don't need to make a new connection during processing the whole message or every message?
    In my opinion you can cache some data during processing a message, but it's impossible to cache some data between processing messages.
    If you write your java mapping or you use graphical mapping (even with user-defined function), then you have a java class. The problem is that XI 2.0 reloads this class during processing every message, so even if you load some data from your data source into your structures in the memory, this data will be lost after reloading your mapping class.

  • Should we avoid Graphical mapping and stick with Java mapping?

    After developing mappings in XI for a month, I just don't see any good reasons to use Graphical mappings over Java mappings. Maybe some experienced users here can give me some valid reasons why we should choose Graphical mappings. Here is what I think:
    Disadvantages of Graphical mappings:
    1. No way to perform automated unit testings. This is probably the biggest reason I hate it. You can do some tests manually when you work in Integration Builder. But there is no way you can write some unit testing utilities to automate the task.
    2. Complexity. Even for some simple requirements, your Graphical mappings can become complicated and hard to understand. A lot of times, I find myself staring at several dozens of graphical nodes and try to understand what it does.
    3. Impossible to reuse. This is totally against the DRY (Don't repeat yourself) principle. For example, to generate messages for JDBC adapter, it is common to have two identical fields for primary keys: one in the access node and another in the key node. If you change the mapping logic in one, you have to remember to change the other.
    Advantage with Java mappings:
    1. Fully automated unit testing. You can create JUnit tests along with your Java mapping classes and use Maven or other build tools to perform automated unit testing.
    2. Your choice of XML parsing and binding. With Java mapping, you can choose any open source framework for XML parsing and binding. For example, with XMLBeans, I can convert XML input message to a Java object, transform to another Java object and write to output message. And each Java object is generated from its corresponding XML schema.
    3. Highly reusable. We can use fundamental object-oriented designs to create highly reusable mapping components.
    4. Better version control. Since the mappings are just Java classes, we can use CVS or SVN to track code changes.
    5. Better build tools. We can fully utilize build tools like Ant and Maven to automate the build, unit tests, or even generate documents and mapping web sites.
    So do you guys agree? Maybe I am still new to XI or I am missing some important things. But at this point, I just don't see why I should use Graphical mappings. Is there anyone developing XI interfaces completely with Java mappings?
    Thanks in advance for any comments!

    Could you explain more why the graphical mapping has better performance? I thought the graphical mapping is compiled into a Java class in the runtime anyway.
    > Yes thats there, but same goes with Java mapping too
    > right (if you haven't mentioned it as constants)
    I mainly think about inheritance. If I have to build 10 interfaces and they all have some common behavior, I can create a base interface class to encapsulate the common logic. But with graphical mapping, you have to duplicate them in each interface.
    > Disadvantages of Java mapping:
    > 1. Performance
    Same as above. I just don't see why Java has worse performance. I actually think Java should have better performance. You can optimize the code anyway you want. In some cases, you have to use queue functions in graphical mapping but it's not necessary in Java.
    > 2. All might not be well versed with Java Code(though
    > everyone may know basic java) .
    I am not asking everyone to abandon graphical mapping. I am just wondering which one is better when you have skills for both.
    > 3. Lot of standard functions are available in GM

    You can create functions in Java too. All you have to do is to remember the function name.

    Not related to the actual problem, but this line is not very efficient. What if the report is bigger than the available server memory? Or if there are many simultaneous requests which does all the same?
    It would result in an OutOfMemoryError. Rather obtain it as an InputStream and write it in a loop to the OutputStream using a byte block as buffer. Or wrap the both streams by BufferedInputStream/BufferedOutputStream and write in a simple loop. Consult the basic Java IO tutorials for details and code examples.
