Green light on photo booth

My little green light wont go off and photobooth only takes green pix. what happened and how do i fix it?
thanks....

Here is how to troubleshoot and fix your problem:
• If Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
suggestions do not help you, (are you certain that you
used the correct "reset" procedure?), yours is most likely a
hardware problem that will require a professional fix.
Unless you have a current backup, make one now.
Then use the final "Troubleshooting" suggestion:
"... contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service."
(Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)
• If you want to try one more thing on your own first, restart Mac
and use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions.  Then
download and apply the latest Combo Update for your OS.
At present, the latest Snow Leopard Combo is here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
• Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart
   that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software problems, but, if your trouble is caused by a hardware problem, there are no user serviceable parts of the camera.  Contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for hardware help.

  • Green screen on Photo Booth

I turned on my system this morning,
went to Photo Booth, and I get a
green screen. I can't tell if the iSight
is on. I have a new MacBook Pro and there's no
    green light indicator.
I have my colors set to millions.
    Display resolution at 1280 x 800, 15" clear screen.
    Besides this green screen problem,
this morning when I turned on my MacBook Pro
the display resolution was at 800x600.
It just changed overnight. I didn't change it.
Yesterday I installed Adobe Photoshop Elements.
Could this have anything to do with all these problems I'm having with resolution and photo booth?
    Any ideas what's going on?
And where do I go to see if iSight camera is on or off?
    THANK YOU

    Hello again, teresita.
Do I still have to boot from the Mac OS 10 install CD to do the Disk Utility maintenance?
Short answer: Only for Disk Repair. Other maintenance tasks must be performed while booted from your normal startup disk.
If you read Travis' FAQ carefully, you will see that you must start from another disk in order to repair your startup disk. Travis says to use your Mac's included Software CD. However, you can use any other disk of the same OS X version (10.4, 10.3, etc) as your normal startup disk if it will boot your Mac. If you change versions, for example, your Mac came with 10.3.x and you have installed 10.4.x, you should use your 10.4.x installer disk instead of the one that came with your Mac.
You cannot repair the active startup disk while it is in use as the startup disk. I usually startup from an alternate hard disk drive when I need to repair my normal startup disk. If you have installed OS X on your external Firewire drive and can startup from that disk, you can use it instead of your Mac's installer or restore DVD. Remember that you cannot repair the external disk (or any other disk) while you are using it as your startup disk.
(Disk) Permissions Repair, however, is different. Travis' FAQ also tells you that you must repair disk permissions while started-up with your normal startup disk.
To avoid confusion between repair disk and repair disk permissions, I usually write "repair disk" and "repair permissions". "Repair permissions" means exactly the same as what Apple calls "repair disk permissions" in Disk Utility, Help, and Apple Knowledge-Base (kbase) Technical Articles. I will use the term "permissions" hereafter in this post in place of "disk permissions."
Permissions can change between updates (example: 10.4.7 and 10.4.8), and do change between versions. (Example: 10.3.x and 10.4.x.) Repairing permissions always results in non-conforming permissions being reset to those in the currently running startup System. Therefore, to be certain you are repairing permissions properly, you must repair permissions while started up from your normal startup disk or a disk that is using exactly the same OS X version and update level. To do otherwise risks resetting permissions to improper values.
I have not used OS 9 for more than two years. I suggest you follow the directions that you have read. If you need more OS 9 help, search or post in Using Mac OS 9.x Discussions.
You have long ago marked your question answered, and we have strayed considerably from your original "Green screen on Photo Booth" topic. To avoid confusion, if you have further questions not related to your original subject, I suggest you start a new topic in the appropriate Discussions Forum.

I just tried another thing that worked! make sure your macbook isn't plugged into the power source, then hold your power button in for 10 to 15 seconds until it turns off, and you do that 5 times, and then plug it back in and give your photobooth a go. Mine worked!

  • Photo Booth not working anymore

I have a USB cam that used to work well with Photo Booth using iChatUSBCam, but not for longer than a minute in an actual iChat video conference. I updated to iUSBCam recently, and now iChat video works well, but now all I get is a blank black screen in Photo Booth. The camera works in every other expected application but only turns on it's light in Photo Booth. Could it have something to do with updates in Leopard? I'm running 10.5.2 on a PB G4 15". It's frustrating when I know that the camera did work in Photo Booth, and now it doesn't!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, Bro4U
    (1) iUSBCam effects only iChat, so your Photo Booth problem must be a separate issue. If you haven't recently repaired permissions and/or restarted your Mac, do so now. Then test whether your Photo Booth works correctly.
    (2) If Photo Booth is still the ONLY app that does NOT work properly, quit Photo Booth. Then delete the Photo Booth Preferences file (com.apple.photobooth.plist) from your Home / Library / Preferences folder. Then launch Photo Booth again and see if the problem is corrected.
    (3) If none of the above helps and you need to post back for other suggestions, determine whether your problem is application-specific and/or user-specific by using the relevant steps from How to Troubleshoot iSight. Along with any other relevant information you choose to post, please include the following specifics:
(3.a) the make and model of your webcam,
(3.b) the name of EVERY app you tested that work correctly with your webcam,
(3.c) the name of EVERY app you tested that does not work correctly with your webcam, and
(3.d) whether the problem is EXACTLY the same in every user account you tested.
If necessary, we will offer specific suggestions based on the details in your response.

  • Issue with Apple Camera VendorID_0x106B ProductID_0x1570 green light blinks continually...camera does not work in photo booth or face time

Green light blinks continually...camera does not work in photo booth or face time.Any suggestions?

    Hi Rogerya,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you may be experiencing issues with the built-in FaceTime camera (also known as iSight) on your MacBook Air. The following resource provides relevant troubleshooting information that you can try:
How to Troubleshoot iSight - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT2090
Important: Follow these instructions in order. Test the camera between steps to see if the issue is resolved.
    Built-in iSight cameras
These steps are for iSight cameras that are built into a computer, such as the iMac G5 (iSight) or later, the MacBook, or MacBook Pro.
    1. See if the issue is application-specific.
Try another application (iSight works with applications like iChat, PhotoBooth, and iMovie HD 6) to see if the iSight camera exhibits the same behavior in all applications. If it only happens in one application, try reinstalling that application.
    2. See if the issue is user-specific.
Test your iSight camera in another user account. If the issue only occurs in one user, the issue would be isolated to user settings.
    3. Find out if the computer recognizes the iSight
Check System Profiler (in the Utilities folder, inside the Applications folder). Under the USB header, check to see if the iSight camera is detected.
    4. Reset SMC or PMU
Reset your computer's SMC or PMU, and then check System Profiler again. (SMC reset instructions for iMac G5 (iSight), Intel-based iMacs; PMU reset instructions for MacBook and MacBook Pro.)
If your built-in iSight camera is still not behaving correctly after trying all these steps, you may need to contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Photo Booth - green camera light on - no picture showing

The green camera light fo the iSight camera is lit up. but when i go to Photo Booth, there is only a black screen - no image is showing, Can anyone tell me how to get an image?
    Thank you.
    Anne

    Hello Anne, (joyfulsoul)
Merely restarting you Mac may also fix your problem. If not, disconnect any USB peripherals and restart your Mac to see if the problem was caused by a conflict.
If your problem persists after the restart, try all relevant suggestions from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight.
If the reset suggested there does not correct your problem, and if PB is the ONLY app that does NOT work properly with ANY app that uses iSight in ANY user account that you test, quit Photo Booth. Then delete the Photo Booth Preferences file (com.apple.photobooth.plist) from your Home / Library / Preferences folder. Then launch Photo Booth again and see if the problem is corrected.
If none of the above helps and you need to post back for other suggestions, please list EVERY apps that work correctly with your iSight and EVERY one that does not. Also tell us whether the problem is EXACTLY the same in every user account you tested.
If necessary, we will offer specific suggestions based on the details in your response.

Hi! I'm using a Macbook Pro, and my photo booth stopped working! I just updated my software yesterday, but it still doesn't work!! The green light does go on though, any suggestions on how to make it work?

In what way is it not working?
Please describe in detail all you have attempted to do in order to resolve the issue.

  • Why has my built-in camera stopped working? The green light is on, but no picture in photo booth or Skype.

I have rebooted, but to no avail. The green light stayed on right through the reboot.

Glad all is sorted. It's very normal for your Mac to get quite warm, especially when used intensly for a long period of time. If the room temperature is very warm, it's well worth switching off or putting it to sleep whenever you can.
Believe it or not, it gets very warm here in the UK once in a blue moon & when it does, I try to keep the room temperature as cool as I can.
    Best wishes

  • Photo Booth Effects Fuzzy Like a Bad Green Screen

Just wondering about the background effects in Photo Booth & how they work.  I know you're supposed to step out of frame and then back in.  Ive tried this several times now in different rooms in my house and I never get a solid background.  It's always fuzzy/broken up kind of like a bad green screen effect.  So just wondering if I'm doing something wrong or that's just how it works.
    I am using Lion.

"Is there something wrong with my built-in iSight on my MacBook Pro? "
    Nope!
Use as plain a real background behind you as you can. The busier the background, the harder it is for your Mac to tell you from the background.
Have as much light behind you and in front of you as possible. I found that lighting is a huge key to making the effect work well. If possible use hologen lights. The brighter your room, the better BE works. Matter of fact, your BE picture will be perfect.
DO NOT wear the colors green and/or blue.
    Good luck & much fun!

  • ISight Not Functioning, Photo Booth Gives Green Screen

I got my Macbook Pro back from the repair shop recently and shortly after my built in iSight stopped functioning correctly. The green light goes on to show me it's working but:
In Photo Booth I see this
    |
    |
In iChat when not in a video conference I see this
    |
    |
But interestingly enough as soon as I connect to someone in a video chat it starts to work. I've already tried resetting the pram, repairing permissions and repairing the disk. Any other ideas?

Try the suggestions mentioned in Article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 How to Troubleshoot iSight. Some of the suggestions you already tried.
If no success, then I suggest that you return your comp to the repair shop & have them repair it properly. Don't leave the shop until your computer is working to your satisfaction.
    Good luck!
P.S. Thanks for the screen shots.

  • Photo Booth camera light

Approximately one in ten times that I turn on my new MacBook, the green camera light is on. If I open Photo Booth the camera screen is green. I then turn off the computer and re-start. Sometimes that solves the problem. Sometimes the light is still on. I then unplug the power cord, remove the battery, then replace the battery. After I restart, the light is off, and Photo Booth works.
For $2000, this ought not to happen.

    matthewjp,
What programs do you have running on startup?
Are there any that might be accessing the hardware such as emulators, video editors, or photo capture software?

  • Photo Booth, iChat animation green, red, black pixels

Since my upgrade of Leopard, I have a anoying adverse side effect. I notice that when I use the cool new backdrops that have animation in iChat or Photo Booth, that the windows will flicker with (usually green) pixels in a diagnal pattern. I suspect this is a core animation issue but would loved to be proved wrong (only if there is an resolution to my issue . I am able to duplicate the issue 100% of the time. I have also seen this happen to my task bar as well except it will turn black.

  • IChat/Photo Booth "Green Screen" Effects not entirely working.

They kind of work, but it looks like I have lots of holes in me, and the background has some holes in it too.
    Anyone else having this problem?

My Photo Booth effects all suck big time. In well lit areas wearing colors with a different color background, no matter what effect I use, all look horrible. I've tried all white background with dark clothing and vice versa with 100% crappy results. No other apps running. I have a MacBook Pro 2.3GHz Core 2 Duo with 3 GB RAM. Everything else runs fantastic. Photo Booth *****. I've tried it with several friends over iChat Video and it's not viewable at all. Been thru a dozen different lighting scenarios and as many clothing changes, nothing seems to help.
Anyone have any other suggestions ?
