Grey thumbnails in photo roll of Iphone
Dear friends,
I have the following problem.
Sometime ago I saw that most all photos in photo roll of my Iphone 4 (5.1. iOs, no jailbreak) are very pixelized. Though, the same photos in photo stream were absolutely ok.
I checked that I have a fresh back up on iCloud and decided to make the full reset.
After restoration, I found out that pixelized photos are now grey with inscription "jpg" without image - just this text.
Please advise me, how can I get ,y photos back?

i'm having the same problem: all the pictures I'm taking with the Iphone's camera looks pixelized on the device but OK when I send them by email, for example.
I did the full reset but the problem persist. It's really bizarre...

I've just received my iPhone 4. I've upgraded it instantly to iOS 4.1.
Now I have a problem with the photo app on the iPhone 4. Nearly all photo's have no thumbnail in the app. I used iPhoto to sync the photos to the iPhone.
I can open the photo's in the app correctly.
Also when I look in the app say in "events view" I see distored noisy thumbnails. Just all kind of funny colors/noise.
The photo's that were taken with the iPhone all have correct thumbnails.
I've tried to remove all photo's and then resynced them with the same result. Also a reboot did not solve the problem.
Any ideas?

There is no way. You add folders/albums by syncing them from your computer.

This has never been a feature of any iphone. You cannot add photo folders from the iphone itself.
You can add folders for apps on the home screen. Perhaps you have this confused with photo folders?
The iphone is not a storage device, it simply mirrors your selected folders. -
How can I restore grey thumbnails and photos?
When I look through my photos all but three of the thumbnails appear as grey and the actual photos will not load. Is there any way to reverse this?
Thankyou- Do you know for a fact that there is no back up on any computer?

Also if you had an email signed in on the phone you could try singing in to the email again in settings>mail contacts & calendars then turn contacts on and see if they transfer back to the phone from your mail server. -
how do i delete photos on my iphone that have already been deleted from my windows laptop? The photos cannot be selected and removed from the iphone album. trash can is greyed out.
You should be able to delete the photos by syncing with iTunes. Either remove the checkmark beside "Sync Photos From" on the photos page of iTunes or change the selection of photos to be synced. Each time you sync it is supposed to set the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone to match the current settings/selection in iTunes.

I transferred some photos to my iphone via email and they have very low resolution. First I sent them from iPhoto with highest resolution, then I transferred them to my desktop in highest resolution and added them to an email, opened the email and saved to my Camera roll. They all look like low resolution photos.This is the exact method I have used to transfer photos in the past with my 4S and never had a problem. What am I doing wrong? Is this a bad camera? HELP please! Thank you!
My husband has the same phone, we purchased them at the same time. I sent him the same photos in the same email that I downloaded them from and on his phone they show up with the normal higher resolution. Is it possible that there is something wrong with my iPhone or is there a setting that can be changed? I'm still learning to use it. All my other photos are of normal resolution. Does this make any sense to anyone?

After doing so, you can then sync the photos over to your iPad:

I currently have 1,177 photos on my iphone (4s) but it takes up 4.9 GB of space. Why is it so large? I do not use photostream - this is simply within my "Camera Roll". Other than deleting the photos, can someone tell me another solution?
My friend has over 2,000 photos on her iphone and it only used 1.7 GB of space and I know I had at one point over 3,000 photos on my phone and still had space left for more.
Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Melissa.When you open your camera app, does it say "HDR on" at the top?
HDR photos are better quality but take up much more space.
Also, go to Settings>photos and camera. Scroll down to "keep normal photo". Is it on? This feature saves a normal copy and an HDR copy of every photo you take.
I bet your friend has this feature turned off along with the HDR as well. -

Because your computer sees your phone, as it would see any digital camera, as long as you have photos in your camera role. Since you state you don't sync with this computer & have a passcode on your phone, that's why you get that message. The only way to prevent that message is either start syncing with this computer; remove the photos from your camera roll prior to connecting; or first turn off your passcode before you connect. Either that, or you live with it.
You shouldn't be storing photos in your camera roll anyway. iPhone camera roll is not designed for photo storage. You should be regularly importing them. -
I don’t understand the difference on my iPhone between PhotoStream (with iCloud icon), Photos (the icon) and Albums and Camera Roll (under Photos icon) and and Camera Roll (under Camera icon). They seem to be more or less the same thing, but deleting photos in one place does not delete them elsewhere.
When I tried to import from my camera to my iMac computer the computer would not recognized 900 of the 920 photos on the camera so I had to (successfully) use the Image Capture application to import them.
I want to delete photos from my iPhone 4 in order to free up storage (I only have 8GB.) But in synching I do not want to delete any images from my iPhoto on my computer.
Is there a way that I can Delete All under Edit in either Photos or Camera on my iPhone and check about 20 ijmages to remain on the iPhone? I could find no command to Select All and then uncheck the 20 photos I want to keep.

Help!I have Version 6.1.3 because the clogged storage will not allow me to upload Version 7.1. Catch 22. This is basically a storage issue, I believe. I cannot delete enough stuff on my iPhone to allow me to either back up or upload the new OS 7. I am unwilling to pay for more storage in iCloud, so I want to delete stuff I don't need. I want to remove the message that pops up every time i connect my IPhone that says: "Photos in the Camera Roll of "Name" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode.".
This computer is not one that I want to import photos to (or sync with the iPhone), so this message is just very annoying, and it pops up all the time. I cannot find a way to disable this message. It is constantly appearing. No application is launching, I have turned off the iPhoto launch in the Image Capture app as well as in iPhoto. All photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync/transfer process are optimized for viewing on the iPhone - the original resolution is reduced, which is why transferring these photos in the opposite direction is not supported.
Transfer the photos from your previous computer to your new computer from your computer's backup along with all other important data. -
My photos on my iPhone 4 are on my camera roll and in my photo stream, but my recent photos have not moved to my photo stream folder on my computer (windows 7). What can I do?
At 1.3GB available, your storage space is getting very thin no matter what you do further. As long as you have the photo's in the camera roll saved on your computer you can delete them. Just make sure first that they are in your photo software. If updating in iTunes, just backup/sync first, then update, and that will save the camera roll in the backup as well.
At only 1.3GB you eventually are going to find yourself unable to install or update some app, or unable to take any new pictures, or some other limitation that will force you to free up space anyway. So now, before updating, sounds like a good time to make sure everything is backed up or stored somewhere else, and clean house a bit, then update. -

I have search a lot but no answer that how can I rename the photo in the camera roll in iphone or in Windows 7.
What I want to do is:
I have IMG_0006, IMG_0007, IMG_0015, IMG_0016, IMG_0017, total 5 files.
I want to change the name that make their sequence will become IMG_0001, IMG_0002, IMG_0003, IMG_0004, IMG_0005 and I want the following picture will take place in IMG_0006. (This is just what I want but it never happened)
but seems that I can't rename them and I have tried that if I take 2 pictures after IMG_0017, but I delete them (which is delete IMG_0018 and IMG_0019), then take another new picture again, it will name as IMG_0020 instead of IMG_0018.
Questions:
1. Are there any methods to reset the photo number by deleting file under the "PhotoData" that we can see in iPhone Explorer?
OR
2. Are there any methods to rename the photo in the "camera roll" folder?
I have tried to rename the photo directly in iPhone Explorer but it will make the photo cannot be read in iphone.
3. Is it possible that I can rename them directly and rebuild the camera roll by deleting the Photos.sqlite under the PhotoData folder to solve the unreadable problem in iphone 4?

There are no any options to let you choose "rename" in Windows 7 if you connect the iphone via USB
