Grid computing guide??

is there any grid computing (not grid controlling) guide book available in oracle press??

My idea ... they're similar.
Cluster computing:
is a group of linked computers, working together closely so that in many respects they form a single computer.Grid computing:
Grid computing is distributed, large-scale cluster computing, as well as a form of network-distributed parallel processing
Oracle Real Application Clusters is a software that enables you to use clustered hardware by running multiple instances against the same database. The database files are stored on disks that are either physically or logically connected to each node, so that every active instance can read from or write to them.
The Real Application Clusters software manages data access, so that changes are coordinated between the instances and each instance sees a consistent image of the database. The cluster interconnect enables instances to pass coordination information and data images between each other.

  • Is Oracle Grid Computing a product or concept

I have read some of the threads and I have a basic question.
Does oracle have a comprehensive infrastructure grid product that actually takes servers, storage, network, and provide a provisioning system that one can install a operating environment and software products etc. If it does not have such a product then what is the deal about "oracle grid compute"
I have gone through the OEM 10gR2 install guide, I'm not too sure this mentions about grid computing. ASM comes close as far as storage is concerned, but what about CPU,RAM, Network and OS.
I also got that part that oracle products are ready for the grid - which product is not ready in that sense. The Grid should enable any Op Env and consequently any product - unless ofcourse they (OS) are still under test.

When someone talks about grid computing, I think of a system where I can seemlessly bring systems in and out of use at will to support the requirements at that time. So if I have 10 servers, in the morning I might want to run 6 app server nodes and 4 database nodes, whilst at night I might want to run 2 app server nodes and 8 database servers. The same kit serving different functions to meet the business demands.
Oracle does not provide this type of functionality. It allows you to add and remove nodes from a cluster (database and app server), but the seemless mix and match approach is not possible in a real environment.
The Grid Control allows you to monitor and manage your whole infrastructure, but this doesn't really warrant the "Grid" tag in my opinion. It is only an evolution of the OEM Management Server available in previous releases, and that was never given the "Grid" title.
I guess everyones definition of grid computing is slightly different. Oracle doesn't meet my definiton, but it may surpass the definition used by others.
Marketing aside, the 10g Database is a erally cool bit of kit :)

  • Grid computing in oracle 10g

Hello Everybody :) I want to make an application which will be added to grid computation (it will be inverting a matrix with dimension 1000x1000 in loop with lenght of 999999 ).
    I have got few questions.
1 How to make grid?? I' ve used Oracle 10gXE for making an application and I know it quite well, but I can't find anything obout making a grid (how to do it). Do I have to install Oracle Application Server 10g or oracle Enterprise MAnager 10g? If I have to, how to do grid (do I have to make clustres or does the grid will be made automatically when I give IP adresses for the server)? I have got 3 computers in LAN network, 1 of them has got Oracle 10gXE.
2 the application inverting the matrix is written ic C++. How to add this application to grid computing using SQL (I want to see the result of computing in C++ application)?
Do I have to use something like ODBC in C++?
3 If points 1 & 2 have got solutions for me (I hope so) is there any chance for remote control for grid computing (I want to control grid computing from applicayion i C++)?
Thank You very much for all answers

OK I have also read that if I want to make grid computing I need following things.
1 Oracle databade 10g which provides computing
(Express Edition is a standalone databse such as Access but it has multithread and is used standard applications such us sample application in XE (shop, forums etc.) )
2 Oracle Application server but I don't know if I need it couse it can be useless if I've got database

  • Grid computing

    Very Good morning  experts ;
I need some  information about  grid  computing. Oracle 10g is  first grid based database.
Grid technology , how it acts really ?
Getting bit  confused from following term.
Grid computing enables the creation  of  a  single  IT  infrastructure that can  be shared by multiple business processes.

A grid, or cluster, is a logical computer processing platform that consists of a number of physically hardware resources.
Oracle RAC consist of the follow basic infrastructure components:
    multiple database server platforms
a public network for accessing these platforms and/or cluster
a private network (called an Interconnect) between these platforms as a high-speed communication cluster backbone (server platforms need to coordinate cluster processing, resources, and so on)
a shared I/O fabric layer (typically fibre) to a storage system that provides the cluster's data storage (same cluster storage disks are available for I/O on each and every server platform - NAS is also used)
Oracle RAC is a shared-everything-cluster. This means that if you have access to a single cluster server, you have access to all the database resources and data available on that cluster database.
Other database cluster technology makes certain database cluster resources available via certain cluster servers only. If that resource (e.g. table, schema, datafile, etc) is only available on a single server, and that server fails, that cluster resource is no longer available.
With Oracle RAC you can loose any cluster server - without loosing any cluster resources. The same data and resources are available on each and every cluster node. A server failure will not result in a client no longer being able to access specific rows, or tables, or schemas.

  • Oracle Database 10g Express Edition support Grid Computing ?

    Hi
May I know if I install the Oracle Database Express Edition on Linux, which Linux O/S
that can support Grid Computing ?
And if I install this database on Windows, which Windows platform that support Grid Computing ?
    Thanks.
    Vivi

    Hi.
What do you mean by support Grid?
I'm assuming you are actually asking about support for RAC. If so, then:
    - Oracle XE does not support RAC.
    - There are a number of Linux distributions that are supported for RAC, including Red Hat Advanced Server and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. Basically, if it is free, Oracle don't support it. That's not to say it doesn't work, but it's not supported.
    - I guess the only sensible Windows choice is Windows 2003. It would work in Windows 2000 or XP, but these aren't sensible options as both are very old and one is a desktop OS.
These answers also apply to the Grid Control.

You have the latest version (CC 2014.1 or 2014.1.1) in which the interface condenses Design View with Live View buttons in normal layouts.  See screenshot.
However, in FGLayouts, Live View is the only option which poses some editing problems and has been highly criticized.
Is there any way to display the Design View in fluid grid pages?

  • Grid computing in Education

Hi all experts in Grid/utility computing.
I am doing some research for a conference paper I will be presenting in May 04 on Grid computing in the Education sector(university).
I was wondering if anyone may have some information on how grid computing can be used in a university teaching environment as a starting point for my research.
This can be in the form of papers, presentations, web links or case studies of universities who are using grid . Our your thoughts/views on how the university setting can maximise this new technology to support computing research and teaching.
Or may be we can start a discussion on the link with grid and the education sector. What lessons, problems, parallels, issues from businesses we can relate/compare to university sector.

  • Print Visible Grids and Guides

    Hi everyone,
I'm using InDesign CS3 5.0.4,  If i export to direct pdf the check box of Print visible grid and guides is enabled,   But to make the postscript file the mentioned option is disabled.
Please guide me how to enable this option in the InDesign
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nagaraj

... I don't have a special profile. I almost never directly print, but Export to PDF exclusively. And if you use that instead, you can choose any of the standard presets -- High Quality, Press Quality, etc. -- no printer dependent settings.
The print options inside InDesign and Acrobat are (partly) optional, depending on the printer driver you happen to have installed.

  • Grid Computing: Oracle Profile

I am a student at Lansing Community College. Recently profiled in the September/ October Edition of Oracle Magazine I subscribe to. I currently use JDeveloper for Java and Web Development. I am writing a term paper on Grid Computing and its impact on Enterprise IT. Oracle, being at the front of the Development and Implementation of Grid, I have chosen them to profile. I have found alot of information online, however I would like to set up an interview, face to face. I know that there is a regional office in Troy, Michigan. I am willing to make the trip if someone was willing to spare 30 minutes of their time that is knowledgeable in Grid technology. If anyone can help, or has advice, please let me know at [email protected] Thank you in advance.

OTN has a whitepaper on "Workload Management with Oracle Real Application Clusters". I suggest you read that, as it's likely to be a fuller explanation than we can give you here. Find out more.
Of course, if you still have questions after you've read that paper feel free to post them.
