Grid Control 11.1.0.1.0. Troubles after changing TZ.

Hi!
I've changed TZ region on servers with Grid Control 11.1.0.1.0 agents and OMS.
After that, I changed value in $AGENT_HOME/sysman/config/emd.properties for agentTZRegion to new TZ and ran
"Exec mgmt_target.set_agent_tzrgn('bla-bla:3872', 'New TZ');" for each agent.
I restarted servers, agents and OMS but I've got some troubles:
1. for servers that TZ was changed on DB-targets home pages "Page Refreshed" displays old TZ.
2. status for some DBs is Down with error of Agent Connection to Instance "Failed to connect to database instance: ORA-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach).", but test connection on configuring page works.

Some DBs work fine and some have a trouble on the same server
-bash-3.00$ /u01/app/oracle/product/agent11g/bin/emctl status agent

I changed my email on my account and it changed In my iTunes but not in my iCloud or iMessages? The same on both my iPhone and iPad need help bc all my texts are now regular texts and can't use iCloud!!! Grrrrr help please

    Hello Brittney23
Make sure you sign out of those accounts in iCloud and in iMessage and then sign in with the new account. When you sign out of iCloud, make sure to keep the data on your iPhone. That way, when you sign in to the new account it will merge the data to make sure you have not lost anything.

  • Cloning-Grid control

    Hi,
we have grid control setup to monitor our production database,we have some issues with grid control and we want clone to replicate the issues in test environment. Can we clone Grid setup. If so ,please let us know the procedure.
    Our Grid env details
    ==========
    ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oracle/db10g
    GRID_HOME=/u01/oracle/oms10g
    AGENT_HOME=/u01/oracle/agent10g
can we clone all the 3 three?
    Regards,
    Mannu

    Hello,
I've not seen any documentation to clone grid control i.e. OMS, db home, and agent home. However, if i had to do it, I would use the procedure to migrate Grid Control to a new machine and make some changes along the way.
    1. Install 2nd OMS in test environment pointing to existing repository.
This will install OMS home and agent home on your test machine.
    2. Install db software on test machine and copy existing repository to test machine.
    3. Update OMS to point to this new repository.
At this point, you have everything running in your test environment. However, the production OMS is "aware" of this OMS so you need to clean up the targets on your production OMS that points to your test environment and repeat the same thing for the test OMS so it's not "aware" of the production targets.
If you need more details, let me know.

  • Trouble with 10g after Installing Grid Control

Main problem: after installing Grid Control and rebooting, I can no longer access my databases.
I have 10g installed on a fairly decent Windows XP machine. It was running okay, but I had two Oracle database instance processes running at 200mb of RAM each (of a total of 1 GB of RAM), so it was a bit bogged down, as is to be expected when running Oracle as a server on Windows.
I then installed Grid Control, which seemed to go okay, and another database as well. But once the install completed, and I gained access to the Grid Control version of the OEM for the first time, that's when things got wacky. Connecting to any OEM instance started taking anywhere from 2-10 minutes, everything was bogged down considerably, etc. I tried shutting everything down and rebooting, but now things are worse. OEM is timing out and not finding servers, listener is timing out, etc. I've tried manipulating a few things in Net Manager (I noticed that my LISTENER section didn't seem to contain any data at all, and my databases weren't listed in there either) with no result.
I've also had trouble with "host credentials" and being able to administer the databases within the OEM, even after implementing a fix I had found to add my user name to a "log on as batch job" local security policy.
Finally, I noticed that after installing Grid Control, when I run "sqlplus", I now see "Oracle91 Enterprise Edition" instead of the "Oracle10g" it used to show (and I never had anything but 10g installed on this machine!).
Here's what happens when I try to access my dBs:
-When I try to launch the OEM connected to any of the 3 databases I created (which were previsouly running), the browser just times out with "page cannot be displayed".
-When I run "emctl start <ANYTHING>" I get file/path not found errors, and a file path with both forward and backward slashes (starting after the "agent" directory):
    C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\agent/<...etc.>
-When I try to test a connection to a service in Net Manager, I get this error:
    ORA-12557: TNS:protocol adapter not loadable
I had to manually add my listener info and databases info(under Service Naming) in Net Manager, but everything appeared fine in Oracle Directory Manager (unfortunately, that doesn't help much, since this is just a general info tool).
I am nothing near a DBA and my knowledge is limited, so I apologize for not being more consise, but I'd be glad to elaborate if someone could tell me what they need to know.
    Thank you,
    John

Yes; thank you both. Although I had 1 GB physical and 1.5 GB virtual memory configured, running Grid Control seemed to completely kill all available resources.
I have removed GC and its related database and applications, and I can again conncet to my databases via Database Control. Thank you.
By the way, another issue has arisen, seemingly in the aftermath of installing GC: my OEM Database Control instances now time out after about 60 seconds, logging me out each and every time. I have cookies enabled, but this doesn't seem to be the trouble. Is there a Web setting somewhere that will kick users out of the instance at timed intervals?

  • Building reports around grid control database.

As a part of Grid control support activity many times we need spend hours to verify if all the targets have been assigned rules and thresholds so that they can generate alerts well before the trouble occurs.
So i was wondering is there any way by which which can write some script that will scan all the targets and find out which are not assigned to rules.
I am not sure if i can access these information from grid control database.
Can somebody help me in this ? is there any way to find out which rules have been assigned to which target or what is the threshold assigned to a particular targets by writing sql query / using oracle packages ?
    Appreciate help in this regard.

  • Installing 10g and Grid control together on Windows Server 2003

    Hi all,
I've been having some trouble installing both the Grid Control and Oracle 10g together on a Windows Server 2003 box.
Here's the steps I've followed (if im stepping away from the norm, please tell me.. i REALLY need to do this properly without any hacks.. right now im on a test box.. but soon enough I have to do it in a live production environment and I really need a clean install).
I had a copy of Oracle 9i installed - my databases are pretty small.. 1.5Gb at most and I have been advised to just do an export and import them back in later.. which is fine by me..
I uninstalled Oracle 9i, making sure to check all the environment variables were clear and the registry settings were gone.
I ran the grid control setup
    Set Home name = Ora10gGC
    Set home path = C:\Oracle\Ora10gGC
I selected Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using a New database 10.1.3.0
I set my passwords, and then set the global database name as emrep (the default)
All the optional configuration assistants ran successfull
Once this was all done and the install was finished, I restarted the server
Then I inserted the Oracle 10g cd
    I ran 10g setup
    Click Advanced installation
    Set home name = Ora10g
    Set home path = C:\Oracle\Ora10g
    I selected Enterprise edition
    Selected General purpose database
    I got the following message:
The ORACLE_HOME environment variable is current set. This will prevent proper use of Multiple Oracle Homes and since it is not required for any Oracle products to function, it will be unset in your environment.
I set the global database name on my starter database to STARTER, I selected Use Grid Control for Database Management and set my paths and passwords, then I clicked install.
The install worked up till it tried to create the starter database, then it failed with an ORA-12560 error.
I checked the environment variables and it seems that ORACLE_HOME wasn't unset after all. I deleted it from my environment variables and restarted the server, but I still get the ORA-12560 error when i try to create a new database.
I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to install these 2 products together properly.. Thanks!

I suggest you to read Metalink Note:344537.1 "Installing EM 10g Grid Control Fails to Start the TNSListener Due to Environment Settings"
Additionaly could you post the fragment from alert.log and listener.log files, so more diagnostic information can be provided on this issue.

  • Grid Control in VMWARE

    Hello all
My customer uses vmware for there database environment, well aware that it isn't supported.
Now I have installed Grid Control into a vmware server and have a problem.
After the installation everything works as expected.
I shutdown the OMS services using emctl stop oms -all and it returns successfull.
But when I try to start the services again i get error on webtier.
Knowing vmware isn't supported I wonder if anyone is running grid control
successfully in a vmware environment and if so if it was any special configurations
that needed to be done to make it work.
    Windows 2008
    grid Control 11g
    Thanks
    Magnus

We are running both a 10g and 11g GC on systems deployed on VMware (ESX) without issues.
Do you have any details for the problem with the webtier? An error message maybe?
Although i'm running the actual GC on Linux, i'm having trouble deploying Agents to Windows 2008 R2. Just wondering if you run R2 or first release of Windows 2008 as per your post?

  • Grid Control - An error has occurred!

    Hi!
I have trouble with my new grid control. 2 nodes work for 2 days ago, but now I got this error message:
    An error has occurred!
Unable to obtain data for target node1 (and node2). The target may be down. Switching to the last 24 hrs view.
I tried to start emctl stop agent and emctl start agent on both nodes, and I also restart the grid-server. Nothing happen.
    How to repair that?
    Thanks
    Regards
    Ken

    Try following:-
    Re-start OMS
Then do following on both nodes:-
    1. emctl stop agent
    delete files in $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/log
delete files and any directoried in $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/upload
delete files and any directories in $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/state
delete files other than target.xml in $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/ DO NOT DELETE ANY FOLDERS or TARGET.XML
    2. emctl clearstate agent
    3. emctl start agent
    wait a minute
    4. emctl upload agent.
If you still get the problem, run emctl status agent and post teh outcome here.

  • Trying to use grid control to get historic file system information

    Hi.
I need to get the file system historical information for a year. I need to be able to say how in the past year such and such a file system has increased in space etc.
I am using OEM Grid Control. I have been trying to find this information this way:
Home/Local File Systems/click on specific file system and then View Data for one year.
Trouble is, this bview is more visual than statistical. I need hard figures!
Is this the right way? Should I try another approach? This must be a common request?
    Oracle 10.2.0
    DA
    Thank you.

Querying the tables/views inside OEM Grid Control (GC) Repository - the database - may help. By default, GC stores information into tables owned by SYSMAN and aggregates the information on a pre-defined schedule, like first week, first month, first year, etc depends on the definition. So you might not find some details of the historical information.
Try mgmt$metric_daily to get the numbers. You would need target_guid from mgmt$target to pinpoint the server.
Not sure 100% all details you are looking for, which will determine the metrics to query. But anyway here is a simple example. Hope it helps. The Oracle documentation has more details.
    SELECT metric_name,metric_column,
    TO_DATE(TO_CHAR(rollup_timestamp,'YYYY-MM-DD'), 'YYYY-MM-DD') AS     month_timestamp,
    maximum value
    FROM mgmt$metric_daily
    WHERE target_guid='......'
    AND metric_label = 'Storage Summary'
    AND metric_column = 'local_fs_used'

I am wondering which login of what user has the logon problem. How can I fix it?
    Thanks for any help!

Yes, I did that in following up the metalink note 285093.1 and 356774.1. There is not broken job in the repository database for sysman. There was one before. Then I checked the emoms.trc file and saw the error ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied.
I think the problem is likely due this error, as so far I did not see any other error. On grid control, I also did repository operation => notification check and the email sending test. They are all fine without any error.
    Thanks.

  • Suggested concept for Grid Control with DataGuard solution

    Hello,
I want a Disaster Recovery solution for OEM Grid Control with DataGuard but with only one OMS running. (11.1)
I have figured out the following.
Installation OEM Grid control om host A. Repository is created on Host A. Connection to database is done thru servicename DBGRDSRV on Host A
Installation OEM Grid control om host B. Repository is created on Host B. Connection to database is done thru servicename DBGRDSRV on Host B
I stop OMS on host B and I drop the database on Host B
    Then....
I create a Dataguard configuration for DBGRDSRV, the prim database run on Host A en secondary on Host B
In case of a failure i switch the database. On host B i will have DBGRDSRV as the primary database
I start OMS on host B and the agent.
In case the failure is resolved i switch back eveything
    Will thos concept work?
Do i get some troubles with the emkey, and if so, does anybody has a solution for this?
    Any help is appreciated

  • OEM Grid Control Release 10.2.0.2.0

We just upgraded to Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 10.2.0.2.0, and I'm having trouble seeing entire SQL statements. Before when I investigated top SQL I could see the entire thing. Now, it shows the first 200 or so characters.
Has someone found a way to see the entire SQL statement again? OEM does supply the SQL ID. Do I just need to start querying v$sql? That table restricts the SQL statement to VARCHAR2(1000), and so I'm wondering how we capture strings that are longer? Either we've never had any which exceed 1000 characters, or OEM is pulling the SQL stmt from somewhere else.

I am going by memory - I don't have access to OEM right now.
But on the individual SQL screen that shows the snippet of the SQL on the upper left is a blue triangle with a plus sign in it. Clicking that will show the entire SQL.
The HASHVALUE is shown at the very top of the screen.
You can look at V$SQL_TEXT to get the entire SQL.
    SELECT * FROM V$SQLTEXT
    WHERE HASH_VALUE=&HASHVALUE
    ORDER BY PIECE;

  • How to install OEM Grid Control R2 on RHEL AS4 (AMD64/EM64T)

    Hi all,
I was able to install the Oracle Application Server (Infrastructure and BI and Forms) successfully on the another machine with the same specs. The application I installed on the 64-bit machine is a 32-bit Oracle Application Server.
Now, I tried to install the OEM Grid Control R2 (another 32-bit Oracle Software) on an identical 64-bit machine but had no luck. Ran linux32 bash before trying the install.
I always get the error "error in invoking target 'dm_on ioracle' of makefile 'OH/db10g/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk".
Please help me/guide me in this install if it is at all possible.
    Thanks and regards,
    Mike

Did you read the installation docs?
Did you look up trying to do this on metalink before proceeding?
