Group/Individual Permissions - How to Set

I have several users whose rights vary from project to project within a company.   They have viewer rights to some projects and don't have viewer rights to other projects.  I'm not sure how to best set them up.  What do you recommend? 
I tried setting up the Project as a Group and setting the folder permissions but when I have to add another Project to which the user also has viewer rights, I am unable to add him to the new Project.
Should I set them as their own "Group"?  If they are already in a Group -- how do I move them into their own "Group"?

Hi Dixie,
Your idea about having a group for each project sounds reasonable to me.  You should be able to add the same user to multiple groups.  You say you are unable to do this?  Do you see any error messages?
The one ugly thing about adding the same user to multiple groups is that they will get an invitation email for each group and they will need to accept each invitation individually (this is for inviting users as guests only - inviting users as members will automatically accept and no emails are sent).  We are considering streamlining the whole invitation process for the next release which would hopefully make this nicer for you.
You also need to watch out for adding a new group to your account.  By default, the new group will have No Access on your root folder which is fine.  But once you switch it to View access, that group will have Inherited access to all its subfolders which is probably not what you want out of the box.  You will probably want to set the group's access to each subfolder explicitly (such as View or No Access).  The same is true when you add a new folder to your root folder actually.  We are hoping to make this better as part of the invitation streamlining process that I mentioned above.

    There isn't anything in contacts that has "create a group" .  That's why this is so frustrating.  I've tried creating a new contact and dragging names into it - doesn't work.  I can't find anything that helps!!!  What am I missing?

    a Domain requires at least one Windows server OS machine which has Active Directory installed.
    As previous already mentioned from SenneVL this also requires that computers are added to the domain and that you create user accounts in Active Directory users and computers which stores the account information in the Active directory database.
    In your case with single computers each machine has its own database(SAM) which stores passwords etc. this is different in a domain.
    Each computer has a local policy which will be overwritten from centrally managed policies from the domain.

         If they have set up port forwarding for you already then that is different.  In that case, then you could be experiencing the bug with the most recent release of ARD (3.7.2) and in particular ARD 3.7.2 and Yosemite ARD version 3.8 clients.  It has been reported numerous times in the forums and to Apple that since 3.7.2, clients are frequently unavailable to connect to despite there being no network issue between the remote computer and client computer.  I have not seen anyone report it who was working from outside the LAN to inside the LAN, but I have the same issue with a number of my own computers that are simply on a different subnet, so it stands rot reason that it would happen from a port forwarding location.
         I am sometimes able to resolve the issue locally by SSH connecting into the client computer using Terminal on my admin machine and restarting or relaunching the ARD agent on the remote device, then trying to connect to it again after about 30 seconds.
    The Terminal commands for this procedure are as follows, though you might need to include a port number from outside the LAN:
    First:
    ssh ipaddress -l adminusername
    (example: ssh 192.168.1.1 -l macadmin)
    Second:
    sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/k ickstart -restart -agent
    After that, waiting about 30 seconds and trying to observe or control usually works, though the computer may still fail to show an online or lit-up status indicator.

  • How to set default group in EXS24 patch?

    Hi,
    This question is about the EXS24 sampler in MainStage 3.   I'm in no way an EXS24 expert, so I'm hoping this is an easy one - I can't find it in the manual anywhere though.  I'm working with some EXS24 patches that have been supplied to me for a live project, reproducing the recorded version using those patches.  They are set up with keyswitches to select sample groups to allow the use of different articulations.  The question I have is how to set the default group - so that every time the patch loads (for example) it selects the legato articulation group, instead of defaulting to staccato as it does at present.  I've thought about scripting MainStage to send the keyswitch on load of the patch but that seems like a lot of effort to fix something that surely must be an easy fix I'm missing.  From what I can tell, the last group defined is the one that loads automatically - but I can't find any way of changing the order of the groups - I can sort the view, but that makes no difference to the behaviour.

    If I understood correctly, Your requirement is to update People Group segments based on employee category.
    Basically you need to update people group values based on employee category before insert into assignment table.
    You can acheive this using Dynamic Trigger on Assignment Table.
    you need to change the new.people_group_id along with other segment values in this trigger logic.

    You will have to check with your schools IT pages, or contact them directly.
    They will tell you how to set up your Mail account, (if you have to use the Microsoft Exchange or Other in Add Account...)
    They can also tell you if you there are any other security steps that might have to be taken as well to allow you access.

    It sounds like you have two elements for each crane and forklift service, namely, a labor component that perhaps prepares, delivers, services, etc. each piece of machinery and a material element which is the machine itself. You could create labor and materials
    resources to correspond to each of those elements, but Project doesn't allow you to set a max on a material resource, so creating a material resource for the cranes and forklifts probably isn't going to work.
    What you really need, at least as I interpret it, is a combination schedule (to track your labor) and a spreadsheet (to track your machines). I suggest you only list the labor elements as performance tasks in your schedule. For example, under the Support
    summary line, you might have separate tasks for, Service cranes, Prepare cranes for delivery, Deliver cranes, Retrieve cranes, and likewise for the forklifts. Then, instead of creating or assigning the machines as a resource, customize a couple of extra fields
    (e.g. Text1 and Text2) to track the number of machines that are used and available. For example, if the Text1 field is renamed "Cranes/Forklifts Used", you could enter into that field the number the customer currently has at his jobsite. I would
    enter that value in the Text1 field for the Deliver cranes task. The labor for that task is the truck drivers time to make deleveries and it would be tracked as any normal labor task. Rename the Text2 field as "Cranes/Forklifts Available" and customize
    that field with the formula: IIF([Text1]>"0","250"-[Text1],""). As data is entered into the Text1 field, the Text2 field will automatically calculate the remaining inventory. See the screenshot below.
    Using the above structure you will be tracking both labor and machines and the machine usage will have no impact on progress.
