Grouping Data on DVT Component

Dear All,
I have been thinking about this for sometime..
The DVT Area graph is excellent component that displays spikes of
data.

When I have a sample date data like below, all of these are displayed on the x-axis.
My web service returns data on a 6hour period per day
2011-01-01 00:00    *(Note: 12AM)*
2011-01-01 06:00     *(Note: 6AM)*
2011-01-01 12:00     *(Note: 12PM)*
2011-01-01 18:00     *(Note: 6PM)*

2011-01-05 18:00But my requirement is, can I optionally group the data so that it will only display
the date on the x-axis but still maintains the variation on the time.
Say, the x-axis of the graph would only display the day variations

Can you provide a screenshot of the results that you're seeing?
My guess here is that your data isn't triggering the built in time axis behavior. When java.util.Date objects as passed to the graph, it should automatically convert to a time axis that is able to optimize the label behavior (providing label display at optimized intervals). The screenshot will help confirm and we can figure out the solution from there.

It's quite confusing when you leave Struts and try to adapt your projects for JSF for the first time...
I wanted to click on a row with a "onMouseClick" on the TR tag like I used to do in Struts/JSTL. But it seems to be impossible in a dataTable.
Ok then. I've added a column at the end of the row with an icon.
But eventually I didn't need to declare link parameters.
In my BackingBean I did like this :

So when the page is reloaded I have a backingBean full with the selected properties to edit/update.
Thanks to your reply I realized that putting this form in the middle of the dataTable seems to be impossible.
So I put this form in a floating DIV in front of the table with a shadow.
It works :o) !
But I'm a little bit disapointed to be honest...
I used to build my web applications with Struts and JSTL and doing this kind of interface was really easy.
I've decided 3 days ago to convert into JSF because the "GUI Layer" seemed to be improved.
But now I realize that I cannot put a onMouseOver and onMouseClick on a row and I cannot display a different row in the middle of a table....
I think it's a shame because there is a facet for header and footer.
And it would be great if we could create our own personal facet that appears only if a condition is true.
For exemple " if the current item id is the same as the request parameter id then display the following facet content ....... (with a panel group and a form inside to update the row) "
It's easy to do that with JSTL thanks to c:forEach and c:if but it seems to be impossible to use JSTL tags like this during the dataTable iteration.
And JSF tags seems to have no logical tags like " if " or loops that can be nested in dataTable.
I really need to realize this interface (you click on a row then an edit form appears where you clicked).
Do I have to write a component myself that extends dataTable?
Do you know if writing such a component is hard to do for a beginner like me?
(I've juste discovered JSF 3 days ago and I've used Struts/JSTL for 2 years til now)
I'd be glad to have much advices from you about that.

How to change series/groups of a DVT graph at runtime?

With my scenario, I would like to bind a graph with a dynamic query. "Dynamic" means the query constructed at runtime. So I want to detrmine the series and groups of a DVT graph at runtime. I.e., I want to do this with Java programatically.
I read some articles and tutorials but have not found a topic on this. I think this should be a common requirement. Anyone can tell me how to do this? Thanks.

Are you using ADF BC and data binding or regular JSF binding?
For the first one you can try and create a VO with columns a,b and then at runtime change the VO definition similar to how it is done here:

(but keeping the synonyms for the columns constant).
For case B - you just need to change the collection data that you pass to the graph.

Please post your query in forum Web Dynpro ABAP Forum, under Application server.
You have to define the source component as in the used component in the target one to do that.
after that you will be able to get data from that component.

You can do it in multiple ways. One way would be to try transfer the parameters through URL & the other would be to work with the concept of interface nodes. Please try go through these 2 threads ( [Thread 1|Call view of another WDA Component and pass the value to it; & [Thread 2|navigation from one program to another; )where I have explained about working with Interface node in detail. You can refer to this [thread |receving parameters between two standard webdynpro applications;to see as to how you can do the same via parameters in URL. Hope it would help resolve your problem.

Reading the data from one component view into another component view

Hi All,
I have requirement to read the data from one component into another component while creating the service order. Here are the details.
Main View for Service order: BT116H_SRVO in that we have two assignment blocks like Organizational data(BTORGSET) and amount allocation(BTAMNTALL).This two blocks are two different component which are associated with main component(BT116H_SRVO).
I need to read the sales org data from component/View(BTORGSET/Orgsetdata) into Component/View(BTAMNTALL(HdrBillPlanDet) method DO_VALIDATE_INPUT.
I searched in SDN but all the posts are related to the data exchange between two views in same component. But My scenario is different as explained above.

Please let me know how we can achieve this one..

Finally I was able to fix my code...My Mistakes were need to read the parent node above three levels and need to use the relation entity name while reading the data..
Below is the correction code

[Forum FAQ] How do I export each group data to separated Excel files in Reporting Services?

Introduction
There is a scenario that a report grouped by one field for some reasons, then the users want to export each group data to separated Excel files. By default, we can directly export only one file at a time on report server. Is there a way that we can split
the report based on the group, then export each report to Excel file?
Solution
To achieve this requirement, we can add a parameter with the group values to filter the report based on the group, then create a data-driven subscription for the report which get File name and parameter from the group values.
In the report, create a parameter named Name which use the Name field as Available Values (supposing the group grouped on Name field).
Add a filter as below in the corresponding tablix:
Expression: [Name]
Operator: =
Value: [@Name]
Deploy the report. Then create a data-driven subscription with Windows File Share delivery extension for the report in Report Manager.
During the data-driven subscription, in the step 3, specify a query that returns the Name field with the values as the group in the report.
In the step 4 (Specify delivery extension settings for Report Server FileShare), below “File name”option, select “Get the value from the database”, then select Name field.
Below ‘Render Format’ option, select Excel as the static value.
In the step 5, we can configure parameter Name “Get the value from the database”, then select Name field.
Then specify the subscription execute only one time.

Start to finish, grouped data to xmlp

Can anyone outline for me the best process by which I would query multi-level grouped data, generating subtotals in the database, and then pass that data to the XML publisher report, with the notion of grouping and subtotals communicated to the report? I don't want to perform the grouping in the report, as it involves large numbers of records. I can find in various places how to generate XML from the database using SQLX, but I don't understand how to get that XML to be used in a report as a datasource. I can paste it in as a query in the MS Word Template builder, but don't know how to get it into the XMLP Enterprise side of things.
So, given this example query, could someone tell me how to get the data and the meaning of the data into XMLP?

How to add a button to the grouped data in an AdvancedDataGrid?

Hi,
Can anyone please suggest how to add a button to the grouped data in the AdvancedDataGrid?
I have tried extending the AdvancedDataGridGroupItemRenderer and using it as the groupItemRenderer but its not reflecting.
For the leaf node the itemRenderer property works just fine.

Grouping data sent to servlet

I have an applet servlet pair and I'm having trouble grouping the data coming in from various clients. Let's say there are five clients connected to the servlet on individual threads. The data from clients A, B, and C need to be grouped together, while the data from clients D and E are grouped together. In reality the exact groupings are determined at runtime by the users, but for out example let's say this is how it has worked out. My idea was to create for each group an instance of some class, let's call it simply "clientGroup" on the server that holds and processes the data for each client group. So data coming in from clients A, B or C would be placed into clientGroup1, while any data that came in from D and E would be placed in clientGroup2. To do this it seems that I need to send some sort of metadata with the actual data I'm sending from the applet to the servlet that instructs the servlet "put this data into clientGroup1" or whichever. Reflexivity seems only to be able to create new objects of class clientGroup, not reference and edit existing instances like clientGroup1 or clientGroup2. So what can I pass along with my data to instruct the servlet in which class instance to put the incoming data?

At least you should be able to identify clients to check to which group they belong. The client should for example be logged in and its group ID should already be known at the server side. Or let the client pass a specific parameter indicating the group ID. If you can do that, then it is just easy. Declare an applicationwide Map somewhere where you use the group ID as key and the group data as value.

How to bind Dimension data to SDK Component

I am trying to create a Cascading box component with the help of SDK development using eclipse.
I don't know how can I get the dimension data to my component.
when I am using data binding property type as "resultCellList" then I am able to bind the Measures' data to the component.
Can anybody suggest me how to bind dimension data to my SDK component?

Grouping Data Weekly

Table employees
columns : empid,hiredate,job_id,salary
I want to count(empid) and group data weekly with job_id , order by month.
Sample of Data like :

Grouping Data with JSP or JSTL

I would like to ask a question about how I can group data in JSP. Essentially, I have a DataBean (extends ArrayList) that is being returned to my JSP. The ArrayList contains HashTables. Please note that the JSP assumes the data is returned in sorted order. This JSP is not responsible for sorting the data itself.

For example, here is what the data might look like:
