Groupwise API and Chars with Accents

All,
Having problems with API import of users from a ldap extract from another
email system. The API file placed into the API_IN dir works without any
problems except International chars appear as ?.
Checking a working Exchange - GroupWise connector I found the chars are
replaced with \\ and then a normal ascii char. The API then converts this
normal char to the correct international char.
Trying to find more information on the conversion the API is using or a
table showing ascii chars to API Chars.

The API docs specifically warn you not to use the API GW to create users,
for this among other reasons. (synch of eDirectory)

You use Option/alt key shortcuts like Option/alt + e, then e to get é. Here is list:

Simple - when typing, tap and hold the appropriate key. For example, if you tap and hold the e key, you'll get 7 different accent/diacritical mark options - just slide your finger along the row, then remove it once you are over the mark you want.

GroupWise API and Netware Client dependency

I am having some issues with protected memory violations in trying to use the GW API to use either the Connect() or ConnectByDN() methods so we can programmatically create a GW User account for an existing NDS user.
From what I see, it would seem to me that the API requires an active login context for a user to work properly. Can any of you verify that a logged on Netware user session must be present in order to use the API?
I don't see any option in the API to bind to NDS or GW using a logon method. If anyone knows of such a method in the API, please advise.

Keychain services API and dealing with Keychains other than the default

Hello,
So I've been doing some C work with the Keychain services API. But I can't figure out how to set the Keychain for a function to something other than the default, which is set by passing NULL.
For example,

Why does Bridge have trouble with accents in filenames?

We work in an in-house studio with Creative Suite 4. Being in Montreal, Canada, many of our documents have accented characters in the file and folder names. When Bridge attempt to display these accented filenames, occasionally the capital letters get converted to lowercase letters and a trip to the Finder window (we are on OS X 10.5 and 10.6) shows folders doubling, tripling and then going back to normal with no human intervention, as if 'springing' on its own. The files are on a mounted server. The folders and files are created through Adobe Bridge CS4 or through the dialog box in InDesign CS4, Illustrator CS4 and/or Photoshop CS4.

We've contacted Apple and they say it's not their problem. Is there a known bug regarding this that Adobe is aware of?

Creating folders in Finder and Bridge with accents in the file and folder
name (although I've always learned this is a bad thing to do but I
understand the need for your use) is no problem on a stand alone
configuration.
I believe it has more to do with the use of working with a server. For best
answers you could open a case with Adobe Tech Support using the contact
button and explicit name the use of a server in the description.
Hopefully you get a better answer from them then from 'not our problem'

Difference between JSF API and RI and EL API and EL RI?

Im just looking into using facelets and in the dependency list I see this:

JSF 1.2 API that works with the new EL specification. (Optionally, MyFaces Core API
could be used.)
EL API - The stand-alone EL utilized by both JSP and JSF.
EL RI - The reference implementation that is used by Facelets for handling EL.
This isnt a question about facelets but more about what the differences are between the JSF API and RI versions and likewise the EL versions.
Its much appreciated if anyone can explain this for me.

Oh, your topic title contradicts (difference between API and RI) with the actual question in the topicstart (difference between the versions).
If the topic title represents the actual question: the API is the application programming interface, which is just an abstract specification. The RI is the reference implementation, which is the vendor's (in this case Sun) own concrete implementation of the abstract specification. In fact everyone can build an own implementation of the API which might be or not be better than the RI.

How can I change from the Swiss german language to the Swiss french language and have a keyboard with accent

I have uggraded the soft on my iPad and now I have not anymore the swiss french keyboard with accent. I am wondering what to do to go back to a french version ? Thanks for your help.

IOS 8 lockscreen keyboard does not let me input characters with accent marks. My password has an accent mark. I can't restore the device without unlocking it and turning off find my iPod. What can I even do here?

I do have a third party keyboard installed (fleksy), and I removed english and emoji from the keyboards list in settings before rebooting the ipod. When it booted up, it asked for my device password with the default keyboard, but I can't type any letters with accent marks, so I can't enter the password. I figured I could fix this by restoring a backup and changing my password, but I can't restore a backup without turning off Find My iPod - which of course requires me to unlock the device with the device password, which I can't do. Am I stuck here? Is there anything at all that I can do?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Flickr API and cflickr - performance issue with my code.

I using cflickr to access the Flickr api and display photos in a lightbox. My code is working, but incredibly slow. I'm assuming that I'm going about it in an incorrect way and hoping someone can point out a better way to do what I'm trying to accomplish. My speed issues develop when I'm trying to extract the image descriptions within a loop that is outputing the images to the page.
Here is an example of the code that I'm using:
using the following to grab the photos:

The problem with the code is when it is making the request for img_desc inside of the loop to the Flickr api. Each instance of that call is taking on average 300 to 400ms and the array has over 300 items so it times out. Should I be retrieveing all of the image descritpions at once before the loop and if so how would I best link these with image data that they belong with? It seems like I'm going about this in a rather inefficient manner.
I was hoping that I could call a function that retrieved all of the data that I need in one call, but so far I've been unable to find that.

I cannot say I have used it. But the cfc usage seems to follow the API pretty closely. So I took a quick look at the flickr forums, and one person suggests you can grab the descriptions too by adding the "extras" parameter.

Need help with API and sample code for checking a user's rights on a folder

Hi All,
I am working on an UCM integration where user supplies a folderpath (ucm folders), and a file is later uploaded to this location.
Since a user can provide a folderpath where he has only Read Access or no access at all, we are trying to work out a way to pre-check his permissions on the folder.
Since we have Entity Security enabled, we have 5 security fields to rely on Account, Security Group, User Access List, Group Access List, Role Access List.
Writing custom code for this security check is second on our agenda.
Firstly, we wish to know the API and sample code that typically performs this Security Check in UCM.
We could find intradoc.shared.SecurityUtils which has methods to check security on SGroup and Account, but we couldn't find anything for:
1) Overall security check
2) ACL security check on top of sgroup and account security check

Any ideas anyone?!
I am looking forward to some pointers here. :(

Error while enabling dimension for OLAP API and BI Beans

Hi, I've created some dimensions in OLAP Catalog using CWM2 packages. These dimensions have only one hierarchy and one or two levels.
I also have an Analytic Workspace, and I've created these dimensions in this A.W. using CREATE_AWDIMENSION method from DBMS_AWM package.
Everything ok at this point.
Next, I've tried to enable these aw dimensions for the OLAP Api and BI Beans, using CREATE_AWDIMENSION_ACCESS_FULL/CREATE_AWDIMENSION_access methods from DBMS_AWM. Strangely, dimensions whith two levels are enabled ok, but dimensions with only one level can't be enabled. If I use CREATE_AWDIMENSION_ACCESS and I execute generated script, an error appears when trying VALIDATE_DIMENSION, with a text like this:
.ENTITY TYPE ENTITY NAME STATUS COMMENT
. Dimension AW1.DIM1 INVALID ERROR: Component entity.
- Default Display Hierarchy: "J0".
. Hierarchy J0 INVALID ERROR: Hierarchy Top Level not found.
My database ir 9.2.0.6. What is failing ? Some idea ? Thanks by your help.

Not sure if it's valid to have a dimension with 1 hierarchy and 1 level in that hierarchy. The hierarchy may have to have at least 2 levels. If you want the configuration of a dimension with 1 hierarchy and 1 level, CWM2 may want you to omit the hierarchy, thus creating the dimension with only 1 level.

Java Persistence API and creation of databases

Hi All
I have designed a small address book application which uses a database to store the information. I have used the new Java Persistence API to take care of my transactions and querrys with the database. This works great for one set database which is generated the first time the application runs and is used all the time.
However I would like to make it so that the user can create a new address book (database) with a different name, I am not sure how I would do this using the Java Persistence API. I know the persistence.xml file must be placed in the META-INF directory of the source, so how would I be able manipulate the file or could I place the file somewhere else.

I am using the Derby database. I can create a database by passing the create command when I create the entity Manager like so:
Connection c = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:derby:AddressBook;create=true", "app", "app");My problem is that as I understand it the persistence.xml file must know the name of the database. Unless there is another way of setting this. The line in the persistence file I am referring to is:
<property name="toplink.jdbc.url" value="jdbc:derby:AddressBook"/>I wonder if I can progamatically set this value so that I have a default database in the persistence.xml and others can then create there own.

How to load CSV with accented characters?

I have a database instance with NLS_CHARACTERSET = 'AL32UTF'. I upload a csv file with APEX into WW_FLOW_FILES table and then parse it with dbms_lob.instr. The problem that I am facing is that if I save the CSV file in UTF8, then this works fine, if I save it in any other encoding then it's displaying 'funny' characters when I try to parse it and display the parsing result and the source data contains some accented characters, like, á, é, ő etc,
I am not sure if this is an APEX issue or I rather be turning to NLS forum. TIA.

After you go to system preferences/keyboard/input sources as suggested by sberman, click on the + button and scroll down to Portuguese and select that. Over at the right you will see the choices Brazilian, Brazilian abnt, Portuguese. You might want to add all three to see which you like best.
The "Brazilian" layout is pretty useless. It is identical to the US layout and the only way to make accents is via the option key shortcuts: option + n, then o gives you õ.
The Brazilian abnt and Portuguese layouts have dead keys for adding accents over at the right edge of the keyboard. But these may not match what is printed on your keys.
You may prefer to stay with the US layout. On that you can get accented letters by just holding down the base letter and selecting what you want from the popup menu that appears. Or you can use the option key shortcuts.
Another option is the layout called US International PC, which has accent deadkeys on ~, ', etc.
Which ever layout you want to use, you must select it in the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen.
