Gtx lightning 770

I have noticed that there is a newer bios available for the gtx 770 lightning.
Since i have some random crashes and hangs with my new card i was wondering if it could be a bios related problem.
I know that i cant just flash any bios i find for a 770 lightning that i find online , so i hope you guys can help me with the right file.
My current bios is 80.04.b4.00.04

  • Problem with Lightning 770.

While i am testing Unigine Heaven 4.0 i get this from time to time:
Screen just got freez , then turns to black for about 4-5 seconds and back again normally.
    EventViewer shows nvldd crash.
I change even PSU to another and new. And still the same problem.       Its my eight card Lightning 770 and i got that issue in Heaven. I change drivers and still the same problem. Why that cards are not stable?        OC is by factory i dont OC.

it could be caused by something else as 8 cards is impossible to be a problem in a row, something else is doing it!
go to your OS and go into power management and set it to high performance and make sure link state power management is turned off!
also if you have aero theme on turn it off as it can interfere with how your graphics card functions!

  • MSI lightning 770 artifacts

    Hi everyone,
I just bought a lightning 770, and while playing BF3 it happens there is artifacts.
    My configuration:
    CPU: i5 4670k
    MB: Asus z87-A
    GC: lightning 770
    OS: win 8 64bit
    Geforce driver : 320.18
Afterburner, i did nothing on it.
current FPS in BF3 avg 70.
It's really strange to get this kind of things on a new GC. My 5870M is still running without artifacts.
Precision, i use Dual-DVI and my screen is set on 144hz

    Hi
That is a common driver installation problem caused by installing driver without closing Afteburner/Rivatuner or other GPU overclock and monitoring tool.
Now install all nvidia drivers and then reboot you might need boot to Windows safe mode to uninstall some that cant be currently uninstalled in normal mode. When its done before you reinstall the driver make sure that no GPU overclock utility is running and in task Manager End the Process RTSS.exe. Now you can install the drivers, select custom installation and tick perform a clean install or something like that don't remember the exact words. Reboot and you no longer see the artifacts and the Game is fluid.
If this solution still does work might be some registries that are messed up and you have to repeat the process and when all nvidia drivers uninstalled in safe mode and Run Drive Fuzion to clean nvidia registry and remaining files.

  • MSI 275 GTX Lightning, overcklocking procedure

    Hi,
I will be very happy if you can help me with my problem.
I bought MSI GTX 275 Lightning, especially for games and easy overclock, but i have problem with these.
First I tried to use Utility from CD MSI Lightning Afterburn, but when is programm starting there is some error NVAPI_ERROR. ( I suppose is some Dll file missing). When I try to overclock and push APPLY again the same NVAPI_ERROR, but the Clock stay on the position which I want....... But there is not options for Sharder overcloking............. SO
I tried form to Use utility from standart MSI CD, MSI Afterburn 1.0 and, starting program is OK, no NVAPI_ERROR, When I add Core Voltage and push APPLY it stay there.   But when I try add Mhz in Core Clock, or Memory clock and push APPLY it come back again to default. Even I dont have activated scroll bar in Sharders and Linked mode is the same. NOT ACTIVE
I tried Afterburn 1.0 from CD, 1.20 from MSI site, 1.43 from Guru3d.com, is all time the same, the situation is the same. When I push apply it get back to defaults clock.

    I am using XP32bit........
I dont know if is these problem with NVAPI_DLL (btw I dont know what is it) or that I should have WIN7, or I am doing something bad........
Thank you very much for help.

You have to up shader freq. to unlock a new gpu core freq. when they are in non linked mode.

  • 680 GTX Lightning Fan Question

I'm a proud owner of a new GTX 680 Lightning. So far the card seems pretty powerful, however there is one thing that is bugging me. I run an ASUS Maximus V Gene, and anytime the machine does not have windows loaded (tweaking the bios, running MemTest, basically anything outside of Windows), the GPU's fan speed seems to be at 100% or near that. This may not sound like a big deal, but who wants to listen to the fan at 100% while running an overnight MemTest? Is there anyway I can change the default fan settings? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, there is a LN2 version too but it is (like all new official versions) locked to 1.175v vgpu max. Do you want that? Alternatively I could give you a perfect unlocked silence LN2 version which I would pm you the downloadlink for if you agree that using is at your own risk.
    Hi,
I am considering buying two lightnings and have a couple of questions.
    1. The silence bios that you referred to, do the fans still spin backwards and just do so at a lower rpm, or do they just not do the backward spin at all?
    2. Can the blue LEDs be deactivated in the bios? My case's theme is black and red so blue wouldn't go well with that.
Basically, I'd like the card to be quiet at start up and not have any LEDs shining.
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks so much!

  • 580 GTX Lightning

hi all, i'm a new member and i have few questions about my card
First of all, i would like to o/c my card but i'm novice in this domain, i checked some forums and i have put these settings:
I heard that increase core voltage is dangerous for the card, but if i don't inscrease the core voltage, i can't put the card at 900 Mhz. Can you tell me if there are optimal settings for my card? How can i test them?
I tested on OCCT but i got some errors with shader 8 not with shader 0.
I would like to know also my Vcore max, how can i know? I used GPU Z sensors but  i don't understand i have 1.038 and if i increase the core voltage on msi afterburner it doesn't change on gpu z:
    My GPU Z is:
is there a new v bios or is it the latest? I checked this topic https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=148273.0 and i read "add voltage[load & max voltage] read/write support for latest and special MSI's 580 Lightning VBIOSes above version 130"

ok thx for your replies again.
So is it the latest V-Bios?
By 8 shaders i mean shader complexity optimal (8) not the default(0)
Last question, how can i know my Vcore max ? What vcore max can i beat with my 580 GTX?
    yes its latest version

Hi, I hope you don't mind me joining this thread. It saves me starting a new one.
I just bought a GTX 580 Lightning and installed it. But I got confused as to what nvidia drivers I was supposed to use. There is one at Windows Update, one on a disk which came with the card, one listed here at MSI and one at nvidia. I went with the one on MSI's website, but I'm not sure if I should have. Can anyone help me on this? Sorry I feel so stupid to ask but I don't know.
One other thing I noticed, on Afterburner my card doesn't appear to be running at the advertised speed. I'm wondering if it's because my drivers are not up-to-date or the BIOS is old. Should I just move the sliders over, or if anyone could give me some settings they recommend.
I really appreciate any help.. and sorry nems34 for butting into your thread!
everything is looks fine, what is not appear to be running at adveted speed for your eyes?

  • MSI 780 GTX LIGHTNING QUESTION

Hi, I've just bought the 780 lightning.
Was just wondering, the lightning logo is supposed to lit up only during graphics intense programs?
Or, it will lit up even on idle i.e., in desktop?
From videos I've seen, it will lit up green on idle and changes colour during games.
Mine dosen't even lit up unless i play some games.
    Let me know..

its should light in green/blue/red depend of GPU load

  • Msi Lightning 770 - question about boost

Hey. On my new Lightning i had 1228max boost. When most peoples had 1254mhz or 1241mhz.. Its ok or not?
Will be any difference in fps on games like COD GHOSTS or BF4 between my 1228mhz vs 1241 vs 1254mhz ?

Enough of this. Obviously you have yourself the 5th GTX770 Lightning by now after rma over rma for nothing. You have been told about Boost 2.0 multiple times now. No one's here to waste his time with your always repeating questions about issues that are no issues.
As you have been told already default boost clockrate is 1202Mhz. Everything above is a matter of the individual sample and luck. As you wasted nicely clocking samples your current sample is at a lower but still perfectly fine clockrate of 1228Mhz. Be happy with that or - like it has been suggested a couple of times before - finally stay away from computer stuff.

  • 780 GTX Lightning LE SLI - Faulty Card?

OK so i have been having problems with my SLI maxing out at 95c on one card.
When i tested the cards on their own i found that one uses 85% TDP and the other uses 109% TDP for the same clock speed and scores in Valley. One runs about 15-20c hotter than the other and hits 83c on its own on normal auto fan.
Both cards hit 1254mhz on their own on +205 core. But one has a serious leakage and heat problem...
    Any suggestions?

    Quote from: badboy2k on 30-January-14, 01:09:32
as you do not get that overclocking results are not guaranteed (if a card just meets specs its rated at ITS FINE and not Faulty) but you seem like a noob and do not understand that RESULTS OF OVERCLOCKS ARE NOT ALWAYS GOING TO HAPPEN (Its called the silicon lottery and some are better or worse then others and like I stated before if you want a card with a cherry picked GPU its going to be $100-200 more expensive as they need to be excessively BINNED to test the GPU's Characteristics and the better ones will cost more)!
so Please stop as you just look like a total Noob with you attitude as no one can guarantee it unless they are testing each card at heavy overclocked setting by hand and then they will charge you for doing it! (Most Real overclockers who do it for money and awards get 200-300 of each and sit there testing them to pick the best samples <--- That is cherry picking your own as they expect the best but it costs a huge amount to do so, if not its luck of the draw for general consumers who do not have $200,000 ish to throw away to get one-five good ones)
Lol. Are you kidding? Calling people noobs? Seriously Lol. I have been building PC's since before Prescott.
On the box it says "No Limits" "Built to be perfect"
What was not perfect was the GPU with a huge thermal problem either caused by the cooler or a poor GPU its self. I fully understand the silicon lottery. I have spent more than enough on GPU's over the years.
Im just glad i didnt listen to any of you. Because i have 2 evenly matched cards now running in a high performance overclocked SLI and decent temps to match. Im glad i used a decent retailer with a 14 day money back guarantee. I now have 2 1400mhz GPU's which run nicely in SLI at 1250mhz below thermal limits. Exactly what i paid for.

  • Z87 MPower Max only 2 channel from S/PDIF

Any one have ideas? Cable is good on my other 5.1 system using Sound Blaster card. On this system I have no options in hardware/sound to change the settings to anything other than 2 channel. Bios 1.1. Driver 6.0.1.6873 ALC1150 realtek. I do get sound to my receiver and I get sound at all speakers in the 5.1 setup when listening to 5.1 sound checker on youtube But rear speakers play at the same time as fronts. Its not right. I can not test the speakers from windows besides the front left/right.
From the MSI Realtek HD Audio Manager when I right click the spdif picture there is an option to go to audio device settings which does nothing when it is clicked. There is 3 red cables with an arrow over the middle one pointing up in the top left corner of this window.
In the Sound Blaster Cinema, there are no options in the "select your speaker setup" window. Not even 2 channel options.

    2x gtx lightning 770
    2x 250gb Samsung 840 ssd raid 0
stock 3.5 clock ram slowed to 1333
Id hate to buy a new sound card and stick it in this thing. Picked this board because of the awesome sound capabilities advertised.

    **SOLVED**
    MSI tech support:
the built-in digital output will only perform stereo output, and 5.1/7.1 support is only supplied through analog outputs. If you want to output digitally through the SPDIF then you must purchase software solutions. All digital outputs have been like this for years from Realtek/Intel/AMD/others. You can research further on this topic as well.  if you wish to do 5.1 then you have to use a software such as Cyberlink PowerDVD or Corel WinDVD to output as 5.1 sound then your receiver will recognize such signal.
Whats the point of having the optical output if you need to buy $100 of third party software to use it.
Solution: Buy a $100 sound card from newegg and don't waste your time with the crappy on board audio solution.
Was really thinking that onboard audio had made some advancements lately.....Stupid

  • Fear 3 crash with GTX 770 Lightning.

Hey MSI forum . I want to ask you again, because i got a problem. I have a Lightning 770, first night that I played FEAR 3 it in INTERVAL 2, without crash ( good 10 hours ). The second night was when it crashed after a few seconds to <5mins in-game>. So why ? Game freez for 2-3 seconds, then i get black screen with sound in background. ( FINAL BATTLE CRASHING ONLY IN INTERVAL 2 )
In windows event log i saw in this moment EVENT 4101 display problem nvldd.sys crash and recovery.
I am using 320.49 WHQL Drivers.
My Psu is BE quiet DP PRO 1000W
Any other apps dont crashing: Metro LL ( i resolved problem with problems of driver crashing in Metro LL by installing new physx drivers ) , Crysis 2, 3 , DIRT 3, 3dmark 11 , 13, Unigine 4.0, Bf3.
But today i get that issue on Fear 3.
Has anyone else a GTX 7xx or Titan and this problem?

simple answer GAME BUG now stop and tell the developer about it please as this is getting old very quickly!

  • Artifacts on screen. GOP/ UEFI VBIOS request GTX 770 Lightning.

    Hi
So some background first. I bought a refurb certified MSI lightning 770. But had troubles with it right off the bat. Artifacts would pop up on screen even while PC was booting. And then while on desktop, the display driver would suddenly crash. Really didn't know what to do. So I went to tech-power up to see if Flashing a bios would help
It sorta did. But now like whenever there's a sudden vibration on my desk the driver crashes again (happened just now too while i was typing. Seems like it doesn't even need vibrations :|) Not sure what the problem is. But to pinpoint that I want to have the absolute correct BIOS (Both original and LN2).
    Here's my serial number: 602-V283-11SB131011531
Here's the vBIOS the card shipped with (had to change extension to attach)

    Hi
That's what I assumed too. However the first system I tried was on a friend's. It had the exact same issues as mine. his system is and MSI z97 gaming 3 with core i5 4590 and corsair 600W bronze PSU.
I then tried it on mine, and I'm facing the same issues.
From what I've seen so far, when my casing is lying flat on the ground, the card seems to work. But whenever the casing is upright, I face issues (windows boots in 8 color mode even).
Is there something wrong with the card's pci connector then? I have other cards as well (another MSI 770 OC and gigabyte 280x) and they don't have any such issues.
