Guided Procudure - Webdynpro Application

Hi All,
I have a Webdynpro application in Which Iam creating entries in a Custom Table. I have a view with all the input fields, when the user hits SAVE button after filling the input field Iam saving all those values in my Custom database table.
Now, the requirement is, before I save the values in table some one needs to approve it. Upon approval I have to save that.
Is it possible using Guided Procedures? I just started learning Guided Procedures.I could see that the Webdynpro application can be called from Guided procedure, but I would like to know how my scenario will be achieved.
For example, Do I have to use two different applications for that? and where to trigger the process. Can I trigger in my Webdynpro application?
Please give me the steps.
Thank You,
Suresh.

Hi,
yes it can be achieved using Guided Procedures.
Standard way is to create a Web Dynpro Callable object (please refer to:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50d74ada-0c01-0010-07a8-8c118d408e59 ).
As far as I remember you need to implement some GP interfaces in Web Dynpro application, so that Web Dynpro application can be treated as callable object and
it can be included in the GP process. Thanks to these interfaces you also pass output data to other callable objects in the process step.
For example in your case, you could have a Web Dynpro callable object in which user fills data, and when he clicks the SAVE button then you will pass output parameters
to the next callable object (which in this case would be some approval callable object - please refer to the above mentioned document).
After approval you would call another callable object, which saves the data to the database.
Of course you can map context data between these process steps so you know which data to save.
After you create a process you can then create an iView which for example triggers this process.
I hope this info helped.

Ladislav

  • How to use WebDynpro Applications in Guided Procedure?

    Hello,
    i want to use a WebDynpro    application as a part of a guided procedure. Therefor i developed a simple WebDynpro    application as described in the NetWeaver    Developer Studio Help. The Application consists of only two views. The first view is to enter data, the second displays them. So far so good....
    In the next step i wanted to integrate this application as a CallableObject for execution in my guided procedures process. The wizard asks in step 2 for the "Development component" and WebDynpro    Application. But where do it get this information? Indifferently what path i enter, it only returns an error the the object is not available on the server.
    EDIT: The path to the webdynpro application is something like this: http://host:port/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/WebDynproUITest/UITest
    kind regards,
    Matthias

    Hello Dipankar,
    thx for the blog! This really helped a lot!
    The problem is, that you cant test the WebDynpro as a stand-alone application. What would be the best way to develop a WebDynpro Application for GP?
    Is there a way to start with a 'normal' WebDynpro Application and convert this when finished in a "guided procedure ready WebDynpro for CE Application"?
    I think i will contact you next week with more questions, for now on its weekend
    regards,
    Matthias

    Hi Praveen,
    The concept what we have observed is When you click on Submit the values were sent to GP. There GP framework takes care of all these. After that when you try to login to Portal and click on GP Inbox and try to open the application, what ever the data that is sent previously will be retrieved.
    Due to some reasons like Delegation and other conecpts where GP will not fit we have scrapped GP and got back to workflow. There we have used the concept of Portal Webservice inorder to send the data to R/3 by clicking on Submit button.
    We have successfully implemented the Adobe Forms Offline Scenario using Portal Webservice.

  • Webdynpro Application not displaying mimes once deployed to Portal

    Dear Thomas,
    As per the reply to one of the threads with similar issue, we applied the SAP OSS Note No: 0001342713.
    It worked pretty fine once the Note was applied. Unfortunately, after some few operatonal hours, we could not see the images or mimes like check boxes, radio buttons, Search Helps shapes etc.
    The Role to which the Iview is attached is the EREC Recruiter (Standard) / Recruiter New(Customized).
    The Webdynpro Application would be popping up after the user clicks on the Create Requisition Button of the Maintenance Tab of the EREC Recruiter Role. The link to this WDA is provided under the Standard BSP -- HRRCF_REQ_LST.

    lo_window         = lo_window_manager->CREATE_EXTERNAL_WINDOW(
        URL = LV_URL
    lo_window->open( ).
    but this method shows the parameters on the address bar.
    is there a method to send the parameters to another webdynpro application without show the parameters on the address bar?
    Can somebody help me pls?
    Thanks.

    I've used a server cookie before. This was built for BSP, but it is really usable anywhere.  It just writes the data temporary into the database.  This way you can just pass one meaningless URL parameter - like a GUID and use this key to read the data (the server cookie) upon initialization of the new application.  I generally serialize all the data that I want into one server cookie by serializing a class. I can then restore whatever attributes of the class that I want on the receiving side.

  • PDF form generation on Webdynpro Application

    Hi
    I have an ABAP Webdynpro application with 8 tabs. As per the functionality, all the data entered by the user on these 8 screens has to be displayed in a PDF form as well as in an excel sheet in a defined format. Also  the Adobe Lifecycle Designer is not available. How can this requirement be implemented.
    One way is to use the smart form Object and integrate it with Webdynpro.
    Please suggest how can such a functionlity be achieved.
    Smriti Kapur

    Hi Smriti,
    Are you using an ALV grid in your application? if so, there should be a 'Print version' button that, when ADS is configured correctly, should produce the PDF version of the Document.
    Read these two blog entries:

  • Error occured while accessing WebDynpro Application

    Hi,
    I am getting below mentioned error when i am trying to access WebDynpro application through Portal.
    Appropriate roles have been assigned to me in Portal as well Dynpro.
    What is the cause of this error message ?
    Is this something to do with Authorization or User Mapping ?
    #/System/Server#Plain###com.sap.engine.services.jmx.exception.JmxSecurityException: Caller GTMLMLF not authorized, only role adminis
    trators is allowed to access JMX#
    Pls Guide!!!

    Hi Rohan,
    Might be the user you are using is not in the Admin group.
    You can assign the user into that group using the Visual admin or
    User management by logging using the j2ee_admin user.
    Reward points if helpfull.

  • Calling WebDynpro Application and Passing parameters

    Hi,
    I want to call a webdynpro application from another application and also i want to pass parameters to the called webdynpro application.
    Is there an example on SDN which shows how this can be done. If not please advise how this can be done.
    Thanks and Regards
    Sidharth

    Hi Sidharth,
    until the tutorial is available, here's a step by step guide.
    1. Create an outbound exit plug, for example "CallApp" in an interface view controller belonging to the calling component.
    2. Add a string parameter 'Url' to the plug "CallApp". It's important that the parameter starts with uppercase 'U'.
    3. Declare a controller usage of the interface view controller for the view controller, which will fire the plug.
    4. Add an action to the calling view controller.
    5. Add the following code snippet to the method body of the action handler. Change the application name "CalledApp" to the name of your called application and the wdThis.wdGet<YourInterfaceView>Controller().wdFirePlugCallApp(url) so that it matches the names you defined. The example will not work, if the application is not part of the deployable object the calling component resides in.
    IWDDeployableObject componentDPO = wdComponentAPI.getDeployableObjectPart().getDeployableObject();
    String appName = "CalledApp";
    WDDeployableObjectPart[] applicationParts = componentDPO.getParts(WDDeployableObjectPartType.APPLICATION);
    WDDeployableObjectPart appPart = null;
    for (int idx = 0; idx < applicationParts.length; idx++) {
      appPart = applicationParts[idx];
      if (appPart.getShortName().equals(appName)) {
        break;
      appPart = null;
    if (appPart == null) {
      throw new WDRuntimeException(
        "The application: " + appName + " is not a part of: " + componentDPO.getName());
    Map urlParameters = new HashMap(1);
    urlParameters.put(ClientConstants.APPLICATION_PREFIX + "Param1", "Parameter sent by caller.");
    try {
      String url = WDURLGenerator.getApplicationURL(appPart, urlParameters);
      wdThis.wdGet<YourInterfaceView>Controller().wdFirePlugCallApp(url);
    } catch (WDURLException e) {
      throw new WDRuntimeException(e);
    6. Add a string value attribute named "ReceivedParameter" to the context of the component controller owning the target interface view.
    7. Declare a controller usage of this component controller for the target interface view controller.
    8. Add a startup plug to the target interface view controller. Add a parameter ("Param1" in this example) to the plug. It's important, that the name of the plug parameter is the same (case sensitive) as used for the URL generation.
    9. Add the following to the method body of the startup plug handler:
    wdThis.wdGet<YourComponent>Controller().wdGetContext().currentContextElement().setReceivedParameter(Param1);
    10. To check, if the parameter passing works, map a value attribute in a view controller to the component controller context and bind e.g. the text property of a TextView to that attribute.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards
    Stefan
