Hack for IE6 messed up IE7
I need immediate help on this problem. I have tried every
trick on the forums but the problem just changes. The hack code in
v1.6 made my horizontal menu submenus jump up too high in both IE6
& IE7. They also move to far to the right in IE7. You can view
the problem at www.yearsley.us/bannock. Thanks for any help you can
give me. Ann Yearsley
yes, it is fixed; sorry I did not give an update yet. I will now.
I discovered several things wrong.
1. I used a styling for the flyout menu that was not correct; this is the page I got my flyout from: http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/flyout_4level.html and I discovered that I used two stylings (one regular, and one for IE), while the styling included with this menu had the IE instructions included. Conflicts.
2. I found another error in the positioning of the picture below the ol in the page; IE would read the styling in such a way that the "maincontent" was wider then allowed.
3. I had two hack lines that assigned values for IE7 on one line, and on the other values for IE6, this last one was incorrect.
So, solved now. Thanks for the follow up, Murray.
Kind regards,
Erik

Hi,
my website is http://mysafety.be and although the site displays perfect in Firefox and IE7 and IE8, there is a problem with the display in IE6. The layout has a header, a left column (for a flyout menu) and a main content body to the right of the left column.
The pages are deisgned with fluid design; I use some specific rules for IE7 and IE6 to get the dropdown and flyout menus work. The dropdownmenu is formatted "menu" and the flyout menu is formatted "menu1". The dropdown and flyout menus have each specific rules for IE6.
What happens in IE6 is that the main content body drops to below the left column.
Following style rules are applied:
1. the main body style:
width: 90%
margin right: 5%
margin left: 5%
max-width: 1200px
min-width: 900px
2. the left column (menu1) style:
float: left
height: 920px
width: 200px
3. the main content style:
height: 900px
overflow: auto
padding: 10px
4. in the main body style (main.css) I also have following specific IE hacks:
* html #body {margin-top:0px}
*:first-child+html {margin-top:27px}
5. the IE6 only style for the left menu specifies no dimensions other then this:
display: block
left: 105px
position: absolute
top: 0
width: 105px
There are no IE6 only stylings for the main content, which is why I am puzzled that in IE6 the main content drops below the left column.
Any clues please?
Thank you!

IFrame hack for IE6 in Tooltip Widget
The iFrame, that is called up in IE6 to cover form elements
doesn't seem to get placed right.
Obviously, this issue has to be viewed with IE6 since that's
the only browser that uses the iFrame hack built into the Tooltip
Widget.
The following page shows some samples but the iFrame always
shows in the wrong place:
http://www.onuma.com/plan/test.html
The only way the iFrame almost matches, is when I place the
div tag containing the tooltip right behind the bold text:
http://www.onuma.com/plan/test2.html
I actually noticed that Adobe's
Sample
Page has the same problem but since the background is white and
the page is pretty long, one doesn't notice it. When you look at
the page with IE6 and you scroll over one of the tooltip texts, you
can notice the scroll bar on the right of the browser window
slightly moving. That's because the iFrame gets pushed into the
bottom of the page.
Is there any way to get this iFrame positioned correctly?
Thank you,
ThomasHas anybody used the Tooltip Widget and tested it with IE6
with the standard SpryTooltip.js and SpryTooltip.css? Would it be
possible to show some examples?
I'm having difficulties with the position of the iframe that
is displayed to cover certain form fields in IE6. This becomes
especially apparent when the background isn't white and/or the
trigger is a bit wider since the iframe seems to get positioned
always in the same relative position to where I add the div tag (or
at the bottom of the page if I don't use absolute positioning).
If anybody can provide me with a sample of the Tooltip Widget
being used on a page with non-white background or even with form
fields it would be very much appreciated.
I'd much rather ignore IE6's buggy behavior too but too many
users are still using it... -
Hey,
Can anyone advice me on hacks for IE6.
I'm designing sites on IE7 and hacking for Firefox i.e using
html>/**/body div#nav_top {margin-left:10px;}
When I then look at my design on IE6, things are shifting
over a bit (not just on floats but general margins etc). What hack
would I use for IE6 to sort this out?
Also, to check on various IE platforms, I'm currently finding
other computers that have older versions of IE on.....is this
wrong? My guess is that there must be a way of testing my site on
one machine for different browser versions??
Any help would be great
thanks shellMind you that those are statistics from user's going to W3C
schools. I'd
hardly trust their statistics to be accurate for a global
user-base.

Only seeing Blank Pages for IE6 & IE7
Currently testing a site in development and this is my first try of Browser Lab, and am getting blank views for IE6 and IE7.
I am using the online version (not through Dreamweaver).
Any suggestions on how to get it to work?
Thanks Steve.Hi steve@mcpd,
Thank you for your interest in BrowserLab. We are currently looking into a similar issue another customer has encountered, but have not established a root cause. If you don't mind sharing, I'd be grateful if you would Private Message me the URL that you are testing (so far the problem seems to be specific to a certain type of web server or domain name convention).

Adobe Interactive forms & WebDynpro for java problem with IE7 and IE8
I have Interactive form ui-element in WebDynpro for java (ver. 7 SP 10) application. It works fine with IE6, but in IE7 (or IE8) it doesn't show that ui-element at all. We have tried to change IE7 security & advanced settings, but we have not made any progress. We have also tried to install/uninstall different Adobe reader versions etc.
I know a little more about the problem now. After viewing the XML source I change the property of the inputfield.
It was like this:
<field name="verdipers_felt" y="130.7001mm" x="180.1801mm" w="101.6004mm" h="44.4501mm" locale="no_NO" access="ReadOnly">
but i changed the access to be nonInteractive
<field name="verdipers_felt" y="130.7001mm" x="180.1801mm" w="101.6004mm" h="44.4501mm" locale="no_NO" access="nonInteractive">
now view2 shows the linebreak as in view1... Buut! when im going back to view1 from view2, the linebreaks gets converted into spaces
thats pretty wierd, aint it? -
How to fix site display for IE6
Hello,
I posted this last week, but the issue is not yet resolved,
so I'm hoping someone else might be able to assist me. Basically, I
am troubleshooting a site that was created by someone else that
uses Javascript includes and 2 CSS files for the navigation and
presentation.
All but the Home Page does not display correctly in IE6 on
Windows XP, that is, the main content of the page wraps
left-justified and below the left-side navigation.
I've included the html code below because when you visit the
page "live", the html is different. The CSS on the sub main pages
are generated from "includes", and the correct CSS are supposedly
linked, but for some reason the tag does not display when viewing
the source code in a browser window.

RHYou can try refreshing PPR programmatcly on that table.
Bind that table with bean and when u displaying table using some button or you navigating to that page.call this method before navigation to that page.it will re refresh the table.
Like this AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.getOrderLinesTableBinding()); -

I am creating a website and I create stylesheets for the look and feel of the website. Because of conflicting browser engines I have to create a separate stylesheet for versions of Internet Explorer.
I have noticed that FF 3.6 is using the conditional stylesheet I created only for IE6. Please help, this is not happening in later versions of FF or any other browsers.
ThanksThere are solutions for those interface issues, but to address your question about keeping the old version, make sure your auto-update is set to ask you before updating you.

Hack for page number cross-references?
Anyone have hack for dealing with the lack of page number
cross-references in the printed documentation?
kfcSorry for the slow reply, I needed to check with someone
about a macro they had but it is not one that will do what you
want.
Is page numbering a requirement or do you would you be happy
with working links? If working links would be sufficient, there is
a macro on my site under Print Issues but it relies on the string
for the link being exactly the same as the string for the target. -
Hacks for changing color on template?
I would like to change the colors on these templates...is there a hack for this?
The link is to the template I want to alter....
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3525/397791516724080b6594o.jpgThere is no way to change the background color.
We may just mimic this feature thru insertion of a colored shape moved to the background.

Is there a new "hack" for viewing psd thumbnails in windows explorer,? i have tryed the shell extention thingy, but it didnt work...
TnxHi Jim,
I will check if I have another version in place. Maybe now I get a problem because I use Bridge for viewing the new pictures, classifying by tags. For searches later on I have Photoshop elements because of it´s fast database. For PSE I now need Version 7 with Camera Raw 5.2, for Bridge and CS3 (more complex actions for improving my pictures) I had to install ACR 4.6.
From Bridge I can open the pictures with "open" and 4.6 appears before entering CS3. But in Bridge the option "open with camera raw" is not available.
Hopefully I only have 2 ACR 4.x versions in the CS3 directories. This would be easy to solve. Otherwise it seems to get more and more enerving to find the error. -

Hack for Arrows and Scrollbars Yet?
Has anyone found a hack for returnign the arrows and turning off scroll bars yet?
It's still driving me nuts both to not have arrows and to have the screens jump all over the place in documents because I click where they are supposed to be.
And to have to look at the scroll bars in order to move up or down or right to left with the mouse.
Don't tell me about arrows and touch screens. I use a mouse. That great Apple invention that suckered me into an Apple in the first place. Using the arrows would also meaing having to look for the correct arrow. Productivity is too far down the list of improvements in Mountain Lion.No. File a bug report with Apple for missing functionality and a lousy design decision, even if it's appropriate for their iOS devices.

Hello.
I've been working on a CSS drop down menu for my website
which works fine in Internet Explorer 7 and all other modern
browsers. But I used Browsershots.org to have a look at the site in
IE6 and it was terrible. I am using Windows Vista so there is no
way of me getting IE 6 on this machine (MultipleIE's doesn't work).
