Had a question on manipulating images

I was wondering if someone could help. I had an idea of loading an image of an office on the iphone and then somehow programming different parts of that image like a book on the table or a trash can such that when u scroll over the book or trash can they get highlighted. Would i have to create different views for the trash can and book or can i manipulate one image to select different sections of the image

Hi alpha, and welcome to the Dev Forums!
If your objects only need two states, the easiest choice would be to use the support for highlighting in UIImageView. That class can be initialized with two UIImages: normal and highlighted (e.g. see highlightedImage in the UIImageView Class Reference).
Of course this solution assumes your view consists of a background image with objects that are subviews. If all the features in the view are part of one big image, the job of redrawing the correct portions of the image is much more difficult.
So to answer your question directly:
Would i have to create different views for the trash can and book
Generally much easier (and more flexible since you might want to move the objects around one of these days);
or can i manipulate one image to select different sections of the image
This can be done, but if you want to change the appearance of a selected section, the programming effort (and the required skill level) will be much greater.
Hope that helps!

    Greetings

    I had a question regarding buying iPad
    Do you have a product that I want to send Iran?

    You are not talking to Apple here. This is a user to user forum. Apple does not ship internationally. You can have someone purchase an iPad for you and ship it to you. Other then that, you do not have many options.

  • I had certain questions on bootcamp. First of all what is bootcamp and what does it do?(Im using Mavericks)

    Hey Im like a noob in boot camp and I had many questions(Im using mavericks)
    1.What does it do?
    2.If I partition my Mac will I lose my operating system
    3.Can Windows 7 32 bit be installed?
    4.I have a legit cd key for windows 8 but i don't have a CD so what should i do?
    5.Can I backup all my data and restore it just the way it was ?
    6.To backup and restore, will i have to format my hard disk to a different format and can i restore its original format.
    7.When installing Windows 7 or 8 or while partitioning it for installing windows will the o/s in the mac partition be safe ?
    8.Whats the difference between 32 bit and 62 bit?
    9.Can I get a whole guide from the start till the end on using bootcanp? :'( Please
    Thanks in advance

    1. Boot Camp is an app that helps you install Windows on a second partition of the hard drive by taking advantage of the hybrid GPT/MBR partition table in all Macs. See > http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
    2. Of course not. You will keep OS X, but only if you follow the steps carefully. Follow these steps to install Windows > http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf
    3. Of course, always that your Mac supports it > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5634
    4. In that case, you will need to get Windows 8 in a ISO file and burn it to a DVD. However, the Mid 2007 iMac doesn't support Windows 8 in Boot Camp.
    5. Of course. Use Time Machine to make a backup of your files in OS X > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427 To restore the backup, start up in OS X Recovery (hold Command and R keys while your iMac is starting up), select the option to restore a Time Machine backup and follow the steps.
    6. You will need to format the external drive in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". See > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html Then, to restore the whole backup, it will erase your hard drive.
    7. See the answer 2.
    8. A 32-bit Windows version is designed for 32-bit processors, and a 64-bit Windows version is designed for 64-bit processor. Although your iMac has got a 64-bit Windows version, you can only install a 32-bit Windows version.
    9. Have a look at my second answer

  • Lightroom color cast question of JPEG image

    Lightroom color cast question of JPEG image
    Camera Canon MKII Color Matrix Adobe RGB
    Photoshop CS Color Setting Adobe RGB (1998)
    Lightroom 1.2 as new lightroom user I did not think that I needed to choose a color setting or color profile until I am ready to print my photos. I have not done any preset camera calibration.
    Link to my website with example photo http://www.basecampphotos.com/color.jpg
    My question is why is Lightroom displaying the images with a yellow color cast ? The image is a print screen from Lightroom on the left and Photoshop on the right The color cast problem can be seen in the white walls of the stairway. Also when viewing the image with Windows Picture and Fax viewer the walls are white as expected.
    Any ideas or suggestions as to why Lightroom is displaying the images with the yellow color cast or what I need to do to correct the issue ?
    Thanks
    Jim

    Almost definitely a corrupt monitor profile. Time and again this turns out to be the cause of such differences between PS and LR. You need to recalibrate the monitor or if you do not have a hardware calibrator, delete the profile from windows' monitor properties pane to test and then get a hardware calibrator.
    P.S since you are using adobeRGB jpegs, Windows picture and Fax viewers cannot give you the correct colors even on a calibrated monitor. Those are not color managed programs (I believe picture viewer finally is in Vista but definitely not in XP which you appear to be using). Also, PS has to be correctly set up to always preserve embedded profiles and to ask when you have profile mismatches, otherwise even PS will give incorrect color. Make sure to set this up in Edit>Color settings.
    P.S.2: Make sure you are not applying defaults in Lightroom to your images either on import or elsewhere. Sometimes people by accident define develop defaults that in this case might contain a white balance shift. Go to LR preferences and open the Presets tab. Here click on "Reset all default Develop settings" and make sure that only the auto grayscale checkbox is ticked. For images that it might have already happened to, make sure to hit the reset button.

  • Has anyone had difficulties opening up an image from Lightroom to Photoshop CC?

    Has anyone had difficulties opening up an image from Lightroom to Photoshop CC?

    Hi Tom,
    Kind of you to reply. My 'titles' conform, as they always have done.  I've used a few versions of PSE over the years. Pics edited in an older version opened up no probs on ipad.
    When I upgraded my camera a few years ago I had to upgrade PSE because the updated codec for shooting raw was not available for downloading to earlier versions of the programme.  The same occurred again with another camera upgrade, which is why I am using PSE12 now.
    Cheers

  • ICal had a question mark on it

    I couldn't open iCal. It had a question mark on it. I tried moving to another spot in the dock and mistakenly tossed it off the dock and it has disappeared. I can't find it anywhere.

    Use Pacifist to extract it from the Mac OS X 10.5 DVD, and then install the 10.5.8 combo updater.

  • My imovie had a question mark over it after updating and now imovie is gone.

    After updating my imac the imovie icon had a question mark superimposed on it, after clicking on it it disappeared and now imove is gone, how do I retrieve it?

    What did you update from and to and how old is the version of iMovie you have?
    Sounds like the iMovie you have there is a PPC app which is no longer supported in Lion or Mountain Lion. If that is the case you will need to purchase a new version of the app.

  • Color Shifts when manipulating images

    I am taking images from cameras in the sRGB color space and converting them into thumbnails in AIR.  The user is then able to rotate the photos to the proper orientation if needed.  This is accomplished by manipulating bitmapdata using matrices.  During testing, I noticed that if I rotated images 8 or 9 times, there was a clear shift in the colors that was occuring towards green.  I was wondering if there are things that can be done to avoid this?  Here is some of the code used to rotate the images.
         var rotBM:Bitmap = Bitmap(event.currentTarget.content);
         // Calculate rotation and offsets
         var radians:Number = 90 * (Math.PI / 180.0);
         var offsetWidth:Number = 70/2.0;
         var offsetHeight:Number =  70/2.0;
         // Perform rotation
         var matrix:Matrix = new Matrix();
         matrix.translate(-1*offsetWidth, -1*offsetHeight);
         matrix.rotate(radians);
         matrix.translate(offsetHeight, offsetWidth);
         //get BitmapData
         var rotBitmapData:BitmapData = new BitmapData(70, 70);
         rotBitmapData.draw(rotBM, matrix);
    I know that in the draw() method of the BitmapData class, that there are parameters that deal with color transforms but I do not know if that would help here.  Does anyone with experience with color transforms and manipulating images know how to ensure that I stay within the sRGB colorspace or why I might be seeing this color shift?
    Thanks

    Anyone have any experience with color transforms that might have some insight?

  • Question on Photoshop Image Size Zoom & Crop

    Hello Everyone...
    I was wondering if anyone could help me out on a few questions w/ Image Size Zoom & Crop
    I use to work at a studio that had their own small software for editing photos. It was setup so you take an image RAW and you could CROP by zooming. So I could take the image and SCROLL to ZOOM in and it cropped away the rest without actually pressing crop. Then you pick what sizes you want, 1 8x10, 2 5x7 and sheet of wallets and WALLLLLLA it prints them out on 3 sheets of paper.
    My questions are:
    Is there anyway to crop by zooming?
    Is there anyway to keep the original size after cropping?  Example most of my pics are 12M when I crop they go down to 2 or 3. Why? If I have a picture of 4 people and I want to crop to one persons face but keep the original image size why won't it do that without resizing??
    It says that to get the best print quality it should be viewed at resolution 300 instead of 72? is that true? and why?
    Is there a way to keep the quality at its best and then just select how many and what size I want to have print out? example of the 3 sizes listed above??
    I hope my questions make a little sense.
    Thanks for your help in advance
