Handle to Device Context

Hi,
i'm programming an application in LabView 6.1 using an ActiveX control (an image). I want to take the image (ActiveX control) and convert to a picture in Labview. A method of this ActiveX is "DrawToDc" and the syntax in C is "object.DrawToDC(hDC As OLE_HANDLE)". "hDc" is the Handle to the device context of the window to draw in. So, does anybody know how to get this handle to a picture control in the front panel? If anyone has another way to convert the activeX image to a picture, any suggestion will be grateful!

The thing you are trying to use is very platform specific, and the Image
Control will not directly work with it. If you are able to use some
other GDI functions, you can get them connected. The key will be to
create a memory
bitmap and a memory HDC for it. You can pass the HDC to
the ActiveX control, then afterwards, you can read the contents of the
bitmap back as a 2D array, and if it has a color table, you can read
that out too. You can then pass this info to the Image Control.

Hello Everybody.
Maybe this is not the right forum but I have big problems finding information about this issue. Maybe someone can give me some hints or information.
Problem:
I'm integrating a 3rd-party VB-based Prinout-application with JAVA. I have c-wrappers (JACOZOOM) for this application and the work very good. However the printout method takes Printer.hDC as an argument when starting the printout. The VB Printer function is located in VB6.OLB and is not included in the wrapper. So far I have understood the hDC is something lika a "hardware Device Context" or a handle or something like that and is a reference to a printerjob(?).
Question:
Is there some way in JAVA to access the value that corresponds to the Printer.hDC in Windows? In that case I would like to pass this value along to the the method-call of the wrapper. Is there some information about this anywhere on the web. Maybe there Is a better (more simple) solution to do this.

       There is a best practice when using the variables in a the queries...Make the most used ones in"Personalise variables" option available in the pop up screen for the variable selection....
     Also,in order to have a correct sequence of variables ,,just arrange them in order u want using "query properties"....

The "right" way to handle multiple devices, accounts and the cloud?

Perhaps a bit premature, but I figure it's never too early to start planning.
Here's our current setup - I currently have four iDevices in the faily (three iPhones and one iPod Touch. All are syncing to the same Mac Mini, albeit with different logins (and different iTunes store ids). All four of these are kept in sync via Home Sharing so we have access to the music/apps/etc acquired by the others.
Enter the iCloud - how does this fit in? What's the *right* way to do this?
I can see two options:
1)     Continue to utilize four iTunes store ids, sync them via Home Sharing and add four iClouds
     Advantages
          totally independent devices, users, etc.
     Disadvantages
          must pay for four "iTunes Match" services to access non-iTunes music on each of the four devices
          will iTunes-purchased music automaticaly sync to iCloud if it is shared via Home Sharing (or only by the original purchaser)?
2)     Use one iTunes Store id for all iDevices
     Advantages
          single point of acquisition and distribution for all devices
     Disadvantages
          need to find a way to merge IDs (is this even possible?)
Are there other advantages/disadvantages to these options? Are there other options? What's the easiest to set up and support? Any other thoughts?

Well it seems like the first thing you should do is consolidate your iTunes libraries so that you don't have 4 copies of everything, one for each user logged in to your Mac Mini. How you do that is consolidate all 4 iTunes folders to one folder located in the /Users/Shared/ folder and update each of your iTunes to point to that folder accordingly. That way you have one iTunes library, only one copy of your media, but accessible from multiple users.
One caveat is that if somebody is logged on and has iTunes open, you can't fast switch to another user and open iTunes. Apple made it so that only one user and one instance of iTunes can open a iTunes library at a time.
For your iTunes match situation, it does sound like you would be much better off sharing a single Apple ID with one iTunes Match. For consolidating, make sure you have everything everybody has shared via Home Sharing to the main account you'd like to move over to, and then simply go to each device Settings, Store, and the sign out of the original Apple ID and logon using the shared main Apple ID. I just looked at it and the automatic downloading is already live in iOS! You can specify if you want to do music, apps, and books separately in case you may want to automatically download music but not apps or books.

How to handle Multiple devices in our family,

Hi all, I need help. I do not know what to do now that I have many I devices in our family. I have three iPhones, an iPod, iPad, Apple TV
and iMac. Right now, all the devices are set up on one Apple ID, except for a new iPhone that has not been set up yet.
What is the best way to deal with this situation? I would like to be able to use the Find IPhone on any device to find the other. I would also like each device to be able to use face time and iChat independently. Is it possible?
I was told to set up separate ICloud accounts, but since the devices are assigned to an apple ID already? Is that possible? Sorry about being so naive.

You're welcome. And you are correct, an iCloud account is an Apple ID; but you can still migrate your devices to their own account even if they are currently sharing a single account.
One person's device(s) can keep the current account. Decide who will be migrating to a new account. On their devices, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from the device, not from iCloud. The device[s] that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My [iDevice]. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom)*. Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
When you're done, if you have any data in the accounts that you don't want you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete it from each account.
* Each Apple ID will need a separate non-Apple email address. If you don't have these you can get free email accounts from gmail. Apple will send a verification email to the account you provide. You will have to click on the Verify Now link to verify the account and ID, after which you can use it to set up the iCloud account.
Finally, if you are sharing the same ID for iMessage, on these other devices go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with their new ID (so each persons device[s] are using a separate ID). For FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

Can Apple TV handle multiple devices

I have a B&O music/TV system throughout the house and I have been told that if I connect an Apple TV to the main hub I will be able to access our digital media in any room. My wife and kids all have wifi enabled Apple devices and have their own libraries, but shre the same apple account i.e. everyone sees everyone under home sharing. If the Apple TV and al lthese devices are registered on our wireless network can any of the devices stream their own content to the Apple TV? If so how does the Aplle TV decide if more than one device is trying to stream to it simulataneously?
Does the streaming work by just installing the remote app on each device?

Basically AppleTV can only perform Home Sharing with one account, but if you have several computers setup for itunes using that account, they can all stream to AppleTV.
So for example, I have Macbook, Mac mini, MacPro each with slightly different libraries in iTunes all registered to the same iTunes ID, and each computer is accessible separately in the AppleTV menus.
Similarly any iDevices you have set up for home sharing with that account can use AppleTv as an Airport output destination, or alternatively you can use the remote app on any iDevice to control any registered local itunes library - you can either stream from the iDevice to AppleTV or control a computer setup for use by the iDevice's remote app.
This will work fine for a TV connected to AppleTV 2 via HDMI - whether or not it will distribute to the B&O system over HDMI I do not know, but it probably will if it's HDMI and HDCP compliant.
You will not however be able to watch different things in different rooms from one AppleTV 2.

we are displaying the err msg in exception block
but from .net environment ,
they will define the cursors as out params.

how to handle these situations.

Implicit cursors are prone to both the NO_DATA_FOUND and TOO_MANY_ROWS errors. They MUST return precisely one row or you get to do extra coding in the form of exception handlers. Using explicit cursors (declared in the DECLARE SECTION) will avoid both errors, though they have their own considerations. When an explict cursor doesn't find something it doens't put NULL into the destination variable(s); it leaves them alone so its a good idea to null out variables and records before fetching into them.

Exception handling in device

I am developing a custom application and trying to propagate and handle JCO Exceptions in the application. I am thinking of using Result Checker for this purpose but not sure how we can catch JCO or any other exceptions in application using result Checker.
Please share your experience if you have tried it.

Hi Jayakrishna,
In General , there are non execptions in BAPIs, because of the reason, that the exception raised in a SAP envoronment may not mean anything for a non SAP initiator. All the exception situations would only fill the return table(TYpe BAPIRET2 or something like that). If you read that table after the call to the bapi, you can understand what has gone wrong.

Extensions and file handling in migration context

i just migrated one of our apple machines from ppc to intel hardware. So at the moment both machines are still available in the same state.
question:
how knows mac os x how it should handle a file by default ?
Or better the displayed Kind of a file.
Im wondering as i have a function (inside our erp) generating a file, but on the ppc-mac this file is shown as Kind A (like supposed) in the get-info dialog BUT on the intel-mac as Kind B (new for me).
thats kinda confusing for me as mac newbie.
any ideas ?

I don't understand how iCloud mail is being handled among devices

I've switch to my iCloud email as my primary email. I switched from gmail becaue I wanted something simple, and easy. But I'm very confused. I thought that using imap my mail apps on my mac, iphone, and the web (iCloud), would all look the same. But that doesn't seem to be the case. Look at this picture and you'll see what I'm talking about.
The first image is on mail.app on my mac.
- Why is only Archive under iCloud? Aren't all these boxes (inbox, sent etc.) connected to corresponding folders in the cloud?
- What is the difference between trash on my mac and in iCloud? And when I just click delete, which one does it use?
The second image is web mail on iCloud. This makes sense to me, and I don't know why this exact folder structure isn't everywhere, but it's not.
The third image is from my iPhone.
- Why are their two draft folders? Why are there two sent folders?
I'm just really trying to understand how all this is working. As I said before, I though the same folder structure would be everywhere, but that's not the case. And I'm very confused. I just want to know how all this works, have it make sense to me. I'm sure it's simple, but it's over my head.

Well, you said it yourself in the explanation of IMAP
The first image has the "Archive" folder under iCloud, because that is indeed coming from the IMAP folder from iCloud, as you can see the Archived folder in the 2nd and 3rd screenshot, that folder is just there with the icon. So again, you can see that iCloud IMAP'd folder of Archive appearing.
The structure is the same across all devices, just named differently. The only difference is "drafts" appears as "outbox" in mac mail when sending messages, or typing them up.
Those extra folders on your iPhone is local data. You can verify this by going to Settings > iCloud > Account > Advanced/Mail > Mailbox Behaviors. You'll notice "On my iPhone" and "on the server" - things that are under On My iPhone, will not be represented anywhere else but the phone.

Video capture device bad image/no sound

I bought this "grabby" usb dongle from terratec to record old vhs cassete on my computer, but is doesn't work on linux. (It works ok on win7, so cable-connections problems are excluded)
On vlc I did 'open capture device', choose /dev/video0 for vid, hw:2,0 for sound(tried them all anyway), and PAL/SECAM video standard.
Problem is I have a super crappy video image (on mplayer also), and no sound. The video is colored, I recogize it, but the pixels are huge, it's awfull.
After some research I found that a module named em28xx is supposed to handle this device. I found some forum post here and there about the sound problem, it is addressed with a 3years old patch on em28xx-cards.c (which doesn't exist on my machine, so I couldn't apply it).

From what I see my guess is that the module supposed to handle this hardware is present but doesn't do its job properly...any help?

Thanks for you tip nomorewindows. The programs tvtime and xawtv worked out of the box concerning video !! xawtv, however, crashes everytime I try to resize the (very) small window. As for tvtime, there is no sound (output is it can't open /dev/mixer so I guess it's fixable, I'll look into it).
I started reading the doc but I didn't found yet if it was possible to record the output with these program...
Concerning the cables, you are right they are not special at all it is standard : there is the triple (yellow=composite video, red/white for audio) cable and a fourth one for video but with inferior quality, I didn't connect it (it's either the yellow or this one for video)
