Handling exceptions of third party modules

Hello,
could you please help with handling exceptions in a right way from third party modules such as Smaato Advertising, how and where I can handle these exceptions to prevent app crash? One developer said his app sometimes crashes because of Smaato's
module and he decided to delete it.

Try to handle the exception in the
Application.UnhandledException event.
Ugly but should work.

  • How to ensure correct implementation of third-party modules

    Hi,
    I am attempting to use third-party modules, namely:
    coolaj86/node-walk · GitHub
    to work in a better manner than what node.js allows. For example, the fs module works so-so, it doesn't do all the kinds of things that I want to do, and I want to extend it further. However, my issue is that frequently when I clone these modules, they simply are not recognized by Adobe whenever I relaunch(Illustrator) and they cause the extension to error out from the start.
    I've written in the following to the extension:
    walk = require('walk');
    at the top of main.js and if I comment that out, the code continues working, but if that line is in, it doesn't. However, I have gotten other modules to work that were third-party but I cannot deduce what would be the correct format that the extension is looking for in regards to setup in the node_modules folder.
    In my node_modules folder, the folder is named the same as the module (walk), and it still does not find it.
    If someone is kind enough to answer, please be elaborate, as I am not a native JS user, I'm a Python user, so I understand a good deal of what you're talking about, but there are bound to be things that are foreign to me.
    Thank you,
    Alex

    This is only possible if the older version still exists on your computer or in a backup of it.

  • Third Party Modules (Library | Develop etc.)

    Besides the ability for developers to build plugin extensions (the ones with the .lrplugin extension which are widely called modules as well and reside in a module directory unfortunately), I would like to see the possibility to have third party modules that extend the currently builtin Library | Develop | Slideshow | Print | Web panes. Things that I could imagine (either being implemented by Adobe or a third party):
    A Photomerge module (for creating panoramic images as in Photoshop)
    A HDR module (again, as in Photoshop)
    A GEO module that lets you geotag photos (from a tracklog or by dropping on a map), that displays a little map with the track and picture locations (yes, I am talking Aperture here)
    Alternative publishing modules (Photobook, Web)
    And many more...
    There would be several benefits in my opinion:
    Some of the outlined functionality does not fit very good into one of the existing modules, requires a different screen layout then offered, or is very specific and would hence justify its own module
    Functionality that seems not a top priotity to Adobe but requested by enough users could be implemented by a third party (geotagging for examle)
    By offering more modules with selective disabling of whole modules, different customers with different needs can shape their optimal environment. No more discussions whether this and that is a pro or a cosumer feature and should be part of Lightroom. Let third parties develop a face recognition module if someone sees a market for it. Let the pros ignore it and the consumers happily enable it. Let those people diable the builtin Web module that do not need it because they do not wnat or have a simpleviewer flash site.
    Adobe can offer different versions of Lightroom (as done with other software) or sell addon module seperately.
    Just a thought...

    And a very good thought indeed, me-thinks...
    Many of us plugin writers are chomping at the bit for tighter integration with Lightroom.
    As it stands, there's a pretty big wall between plugins and Lightroom proper (e.g. they have to be contained in modal dialogs (those that blink if you try and do anything with Lightroom before dismissing the dialog) with limited interface to Lightroom...)
    Although I can imagine the challenges in exposing more of Lightroom's guts to plugins, I hope Adobe sees to move in that direction.

  • Third party modules

    i have a few modules that are third party from the manufacturer. is there any way i can build these into the kernel? in other words, i want to use menuconfig to include everything i possibly need and not have to load any modules.

    I suppose you could, but it's tons of patching effort for zero gain. There's very little wrong with modules - automate their recompiliation if you wish - example.

  • [kernel] kernel update and third party modules management

    Hi all,
            I turned to Archlinux with my new thinkpad X220 just for a few days, while I have used Ubuntu for 4 years. I had never controlled my system in such a degree, and feel happy about it.
           However, I have a question about kernel update, for I had install some modules from AUR with yaourt( e.g. tp_smapi, acpi_call). For my poor knowledge about pacman, I don't know how to handle those modules while I upgrade my kernel. I cannot remember to re-install all of them!
          I think there must be a solution that I didn't found, so I write this thread to ask for help.
          Any help would be appreciate.

    Mr.Elendig wrote:You can use some silly wrapper around pacman that rebuilds them when there is a kernel update. I'm sure someone has written one already.
    Thank you, Mr.Elendig. Do you mean some kind of frontend such as yaourt?
    Or some kind of hooks like this:
    aur/mkinitcpio-vbox 2.0-3 (Out of Date) (29)
        VirtualBox hook for mkinitcpio that rebuilds kernel modules on next reboot
    Using the key words you provided, I searched " kernel upgrade module rebuild " and found that gentoo offically provide a tool called  "module-rebuild" to reinstall external modules. Maybe it's because gentoo always compile source code? But no other results.
    However, now I found what I need to do is just to build the modules listed in the /etc/rc.conf, and that is acceptable. Maybe after a few weeks of study, I can find out my way to solve this problem.
    And thanks for your reply.

  • Requirements not passing for third party orders

    Hi...I have a problem that I am hopeful there is an answer to. On the SD side we have third party orders that when entered automatically create purchase requisitions.  Previously, those requirements were passed through and were visible in MD04.
    We are currently in the process of implementing an external planning system (not APO), however, the users made the decision that the 3rd party orders would not be planned or facilitated in the new system.  So as I set up the MRP type for external planning I have run into a problem.  For some reason I can get all requirements to show in md04 except the third party orders.  Standard OR's transfer, and I can see all other details, but the requriement for the third party order will not.  the requirements did transfer prior to the change of the MRP type.   On the order this has not impacted the schedule line category or the requirement type, so I don't see any reason from that side why they wouldn't transfer.
    Any direction on this would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Brian

    No, the problem is not that requisition isn't created.  The problem is that the information is not being displayed in the planning screens.  It creates the purchase requisition but you cannot see it in any of the MRP screens.  The problem is the visibility in screens like MD04.  It is true, that if the PR is created automatically then a requirement had to be transferred, but I also need to be able to see that requirement.  Thanks for clarifying.

    The way I read that comment – you seem to suggest the Mac was broken before the third party replaced the disk - is that the case or was it working before the HD was replaced?
    Since the Mac is out of warranty you will have to pay for any repairs wherever you take it. Authorised Apple service centres will be able to get parts whereas any non certified technicians will have to use 'grey market' parts since Apple will not sell parts to the public. These may be reconditioned or not official parts - it's a risk to use them. Visit the Apple store & ask them - there is no point in lying about it being handled by a third party. An Apple tech may be able to tell when they open the case, depending on how meticulous your third party was.
    If you are handy with a screwdriver & have tools and a lot of patience you could use a guide on iFixit.com, but there is no indication of why this Mac not booting up.
    It could be that the disk is not formatted correctly.
    Are you sure the tech copied an OS onto the disk? Did they install the OS for you or did they clone the old disk?
    Can you boot from a backup disk or from an install disk? Does the disk appear in Disk Utility when booted from another OS (either the installer or a backup).
    'Not booting' can mean so many things, what does booting do exactly? Grey screen, black screen, any noises or tones, any signs of life at all…?
    If you look at the iFixit guides you will see many fiddly connectors, if the tech failed to hook them all back up it could explain the failure, or perhaps you just have a disk that is 'dead on arrival' - sometimes that happens. A properly trained technician should be able to figure that one out.

  • Third party SSO with a custom login module

    Hello everyone,
    I've found a few posts on the forum with questions similar to mine, but none have been answered.  I'm using a 3rd party authentication product along with a custom implementation of the AbstractLoginModule interface.
    The setup is standard: A 3rd party agent is installed on a reverse proxy web server to SAP. The agent is configured to protect SAP resources, and it handles the login screens and authentication. Once the user has been authenticated, the AbstractLoginModule implementation kicks in, decrypts and validates an SSO token, retrieves the username from it and creates an SAP Principal.
    The login ticket template is configured as follows:
    1.  EvaluateTicketLoginModule   SUFFICIENT
                        2.  MyLoginModule                      REQUISITE
                        3.  CreateTicketLoginModule       OPTIONAL
    One of the integration's key requirements is that direct interaction with standard SAP authentication must be avoided.  More specifically, the user should never need to enter an SAP password.  I'm only seeing two problems, both of which violate this requirement.
    The first is in cases where there is no existing SAP user that matches the authenticated user.  In this case, the third party token and SAP Principal are created, the abort method is called, and the user is redirected to the SAP login page.   I need to either bring to user back to the third party login page or to a custom error page~.
    The second problem occurs when an SAP password change is required. Again in this case, an SAP form is displayed after the module has created the Principal (although once the user changes the SAP password, all's well). If I were to disable mandatory password changes, would this apply to fat client access as well? If so, then it's not a viable option.
    The general idea in both instances is that the SAP I'd appreciate any help or suggestions.
    Thanks
    ~ Since the SSO token applies to applications outside of SAP, I may add a login module parameter to make this a configurable choice. (I.e. allow the administrator to decide whether to inform the user that SAP authentication failed while preserving the SSO token, or to destroy the token and force re-authentication). However, if there is a way to configure the "bad credentials" URL outside of the module's code/parameters, it may be better to place the choice there.

    Hi Julius,
    Thank you for the quick response - and on a Sunday, no less!
    I have considered verifying that the user existed in SAP before creating the Principal.  One might argue that that would be the common sense thing to do.  The reason I've held off is that the error should be so rare that it may not justify the overhead.  There's a requirement to have a one-to-one username mapping between SAP and the authentication application.  It would be more efficient to assume that this requirement has been met and to handle the Exception when it hasn't been.  Of course, that doesn't mean that it's the right way to go.

    For the first concern, if they can access the logon page directly (anyway) you could disable it as you do not want any password based logons (right?) and redirect it to your external page or an error page.
    Yes, this is what I'm hoping to do, but I'm not sure how to do it.  Here are some comments and questions about this:
    1. What's involved in disabling the login page?  I would think you'd need to replace it with something else rather than just switch it off.   Could I limit this change to the login ticket template so that other templates (basic authentication, for example) are still available?
    2. Keep in mind that users will never get past the "real" login page unless they have been authenticated.  This complicates matters because we're dealing with a scenario in which the user has already been authenticated but doesn't exist in SAP.  Therefore, it wouldn't make sense to go back to either login page.
    3. What's involved in redirecting to an external page?  Is this an explicit redirect in the module code, or can it be decoupled from the module?  It's not a big deal, but it would be nice to avoid mandatory module parameters for relative paths to error pages.
    I think the question I'm after is: "Can I simply change an SAP login URL parameter to point to a custom error page, and allow everything to work as it does now (where SAP handles the redirect)".  If so, could I limit the scope of the change to the login ticket template?  What would be even better is if I could configure SAP's response to this error.  Somewhere, it's currently configured to display the login page.  Ideally, I'd be able to configure it to display myErrorPage, and then set myErrorPage to the appropriate URL.
    +_Julius Bussche wrote:_+
    For the second concern, I assume that there are no valid passwords involved here which might have expired, so as long as the user does not have the option to activate a password again and anyway cannot logon via password as the option is not presented... then you should be fine here as well with a forward proxy. Not sure which Java APIs are offered here, but you could check this together with the existence check and react to both prior to accessing SAP "from the outside".
    The problem here is that the SAP passwords are needed outside of the integration.  It's true that whether an SAP password has expired is irrelevant to the integration.  However,  this is a Web-based integration; SAP passwords must still be available to users who have access to other clients.  With this in mind, could I create a user password policy that disables password expiration and automatic password change, but only apply it to Web client access?  If not, do you know how I might override SAPu2019s behavior?
    Once again, thank you for taking your time to help me out.  I am very grateful.

  • Third Party Cookies and Safari's handling thereof...

    So now that I'm having to use Safari, I'm getting all my regular sites set up, and when I attempt to access my credit union's "bill pay" feature, it won't work because I have the setting set to block cookies "From third parties and advertisers".  The only other options are "Always" and "Never".
    Is there no "Exceptions LIst" where you can tell it to accept cookies from specific "thirdy parties" (such as the "Bill Pay" service my credit union uses)?
    Isn't there a way to get Safari to "ask" if you want it to accept cookies?  That's what I was used to with Firefox.  It would ask for each website and if I wanted it, I'd click yes.
    Doesn't Safari have anything similar?

    Downloaded and installed it, but it doesn't seem to have any affect on the "third party cookies" problem.  I go to the "bill pay" section of the credit union website and it just shows a blank page.
    So do I have to set Safari to "ALWAYS" accept third party cookies no matter what, and then use this other program to delete the hundreds that will be accepted that I don't want?  That seems very cumbersome.  As a long-time Mac user, I am sort of shocked at how little thought seems to have gone into cookie-handling.  I would also figure someone might have written an "extension" to give more user control over how cookies are dealt with.
    Safari has frustrated me greatly so far.  There have been other issues as well, such as some "embedded" videos on some webpages just don't even show up,..there is nothing clickable to "make it load" or anything...just a blank spot on the page.  Other webpages formats are completely screwed up by Safari...it puts text and headers in wrong places, and won't display some pages at all.

  • Handling Rowset based message in third party systems

    Dear All,
    Could you please help me to understand, how can we handle a row set based message at third party system?
    PeopleSoft will be sending a row set based messages to third party system and in turn it will be expecting a row set based message as a response. How do we need to handle this?
    Thanks,
    Hari.A

    So you are creating an inbound sync service operation routing.
    This can be very well a rowset based message for the request as the response, since every message is an XML.
    3e party system will be sending an XML which in the rowset format (which is still XML).
    You can just take the message and read it in a rowset, process it and create a response message based on a rowset.
    3e party system will be receiving an XML which in the rowset format (which is still XML).
    The reason wy I mention XSLT is that the rowset based message has a lot of overhead noded which is not relevent for 3e party systems, but needed for PeopleSoft.
    See example:
    method OnRequest
       /+ &MSG as Message +/
       /+ Returns Message +/
       Local Message &response;
       &response = CreateMessage(Operation.SYNC_REMOTE,
       %IntBroker_Response);
       &response.GetRowset().GetRow(1).GetRecord(Record.QE_FLIGHTDATA).
       GetField (Field.DESCRLONG).Value = &MSG.GenXMLString();
       Return &response;
    end-method;
