Handling unit transfer (311 move) using bapi_goodsmvt_create

MII is using bapi_goodsmvt_create to do a 311 type Handling unit movement. While BAPI is successful and returns a response back as "Delivery 80817152 created". But in ERP, this BAPI is creating a outbound delivery while it should be inbound delivery.
So basically transfer is not happening there if I check in humo.
If Movement Indicator is set to "I" in BAPI request than ERP sends error message " Update control of movement type is incorrect (entry 311 XX_I)
I would like to know if some body has experienced the same issue & has any resolution and also want to confirm that handling unit transfer is possible with bapi_goodsmvt_create.

This BAPI only conducts goods movements. It does not affect the handling unit.
If you want to process a handling unit you must use a different BAPI. Are you attempting to unpack the HU?
Use BAPI_HU_UNPACK.

Hi All,
I need hlep to understand the problem in doing a transfer.
SAP MII is doing a 311 type movement using BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE. BAPI is returning the response back to MII. Once the BAPI is commited it shall make transfer inside SAP. But it does not reflect the movement while checking under HUMO.
under SM13 it say " SSFCOMPOSER 323" error in address output (name not filled)
MII is getting this reponse back as a result of BAPI execution.

the code does not matter, it is the process and the stock situation that does not allow the creation of the movement.
you cannot receive e.g. 200 from in-transit stock if you only have nothing in transit.
First the goods issue has to be performed in the shipping plant.

Available Handling Unit

Hi All!
In T-Code VL02N we have the outbound delivery overview and we do the processing of handling units here.
Now i have a requirement where in i have to suggest the user with the available Handling units which can be used for packing.This value i will display in a form.
I am not able to identify this field and also not sure whether this is available in the DDIC or whether it has to be dynamically retrieved through BAPI's or FM's
EXIDV gives the external Handling unit no but i want the collection of these available.
Can anyone throw light on this.

Delivery Update: Handling unit : BAPI?

Could not make BAPI_HU_CHANGE_HEADER to update the handling unit header field "INHALT - Description of Handling Unit Content". Also referred to SAP note 581282.
It is required to update the handling unit of the delivery using remote FM. So BDC is not possible.
Can someone share code of how to acheive this using WS_DELIVERY_UPDATE or other FM/BAPI? Thanks in advance.

Reversal of delivery with handling unit management/HU #

I would like to know whether the delivery with handling unit management is reversed using LTOG. if it is reversed using LTOG in which storage type would the stock be posted back and would the packaging material of the handling unit be the same when the delivery is canceled and posted back in stock. pl. advise.

in your answer you have said it is not possible to reverse a TO with HU.
But is it possible to reverse a delivery where the HUs are created only after packing the delivery items. if it is possible then how the packaging materials in the handling unit that are reversed are handled and where are the stocks that are returned after the delivery is cancelled is posted - i would like to know the standard sap storage type in which the stocks are posted once the delivery is cancelled or reversed.

if we have the delivery with the packaging already done(VL02n) it should be present in shipment creation already ...better have the delivery with packaging already done and do that shipment .
however if you are doing packaging(Handling Unit ) dusring shipment(VT01) i have not much clarity on that .

Please go step by step process of finding a BAPI or a function for a transaction below
Suppose you want to find the bapi for creating a sales order, you usually use transaction VA01 for this.
1. Find out the package of the transaction.
Start Va01 go to system --> status.
Double click on transaction
Package is VA
Open this package in SE80
Open business engineering-->Business object types
Find the BO which sounds the most appropriate
I would suggest BUS2032 Sales Order
Double click.
Open methods.
Find the released method with from data or something similar in the name
, Createfromdat2
Position the cursor in it and click the program button
Scroll down to find the bapi used in this method
With this way you can also find out programs and FM's
2. Start va01 go to system-->status
Double click transaction VA01
Double click on package
Read the application component. (this is SD-SLS Sales)
Then open the transaction BAPI
Sales and distribution>Sales>sales order

Hi Seema,
You can get the handling unit number from VBFA table.
Hit the VBFA table by giving VBELV as delivery number and VBTYP_N as 'X' ( which is nothing but handling unit).
In field VBELN you will get the handling unit.
You can use this handling unit number an hit VEKP Table to get more details on handling unit.

Functionality
You can use this method to create non-assigned handling units without stock information. These handling units may also be created with items, if you like. Serial numbers can also be included for each handling-unit item at this point.
You can also create nested handling units by accessing this method more than once.
Example
Example 1:
Creating a non-assigned handling unit with packaging material PALLET with a "Planned HU" physical status:
HEADERPROPOSAL: pack_mat = 'PALETTE'
 hu_status_init = 'A'.
Example 2:
Following access of the above method (example 1), the return parameter HUKEY returns the ID of the handling unit that was created in the KEY = ID1 field. To pack the handling unit that was just created in another handling unit, call up the BAPI_HU_CREATE method again with the following import parameters:
IHEADERPROPOSAL: pack_mat = 'CONTAINER'
ITEMPROPOS AL: hu_item_type = '3'
lower_level_key = ID1
You have now created a nested handling unit (a pallet inside a container).

Problem in 301 Stock transfer via VLMOVE for Handling Unit movement

Hi Gurus
I am having one issue, where handling unit is active. So user facing one issues that user has posted the stock around 10 qty , after some material movements , stock showing as 9 in MMBE , where as checking the handling units showing 10 In HUMO . Now user wants to do the stock transfer 301 via VLMOVE. But system is giving error message like u201Cdeficit of stock, handling units can't be movedu201D, anybody advise is there anyway how user can do this transaction.

Hi,
The solution for creating inbound delivery that you people have suggested is already in place. The problem is not with creation of inbound delivery but with assigning the material HUs to the inbound delivery. As material HUs are having status assigned to Shipment Document which is created after outbound delivery is processed. How should I go about it? Even after status of shipment document is made complete, assignment of HUs to inbound delivery is not possible. Please help to resolve this issue.

I have similar requirements like this before with HU_PACKING_AND_UNPACKING FM. It was a tough debugging before I came up with the right solution. Unfortunately, I was not able to document that code..
But here is what I have been doing.
Youre on track with the solution below, never use BDC as it will only limit the Handling units that you wish to put into.
The function modules that starts with V5_ plays important role as you need to initialize the global variables and table of this function group with values before calling HU_PACKING_AND_UNPACKING FM
Debug inside the Function module, and look for the FM that returns SY-SUBRC <> 0 then set a breakpoint.
Restart the program then debug inside that FM again (and I do not want to go further on the details, I give you the presumption of literacy)
You will find some items that has no value, try to initialize everything by utilizing the FM for this function group V51S.

You have several options. In case you use the Stock Transport order scenario, you simple pick and pack in the HU managed SLOC and PGI. You PGR in the non HU managed SLOC. HU's are not taken into consideration. If you would use inbound deliveries, you can have the HU's copied from the inbound to the outbound delivery but still you dont do anything with the HU in the non-HU SLOC.
You can also use tcode VLMOVE, if your HU managed SLOC is not connected to a WM. You do a 311 posting which creates a posting change delivery. After PGI the HU is moved from SLOC 1 to SLOC 2.
