Handout style of Keynote

The handout style of Keynote has changed and the new style is less favorable. I normally used 4 slides per page (vertical direction) and some lines on the right side to write down some remarks. Is there a way to solve this problem?

Hi Dan,
You can still achieve this. When you open the print dialogue, click on the 'Keynote" settings and select "Page Attributes" from the dropdown. Then you can change the page orientation to Portrait. Then click back to "Keynote" and hit "Handout" and then you can tell it to give you 4 slides per page. Vertical page, 4 slides on the left, lined spaces to the right. Voila.

  • How do I show table paragraph styles in keynote 6.1 (mac)?

    Hi community,
I am tryying to apply changes to paragraph styles in keynote 6.1 (mac). But in the list which opens when i click in the triangle only the basis paragraph styles are seen.
Any ideas how and whre i can find theses styles.
    Thanks
    slyrs

I am sorry that I cannot make myself clear - perhaps because of my language competence
    1) There is a table style (for the whole table)
And there are PARAGRAPH-styles for the text-attributes of the text in the table-cells (bold, italic, size, font etc.). I would call this a paragraph-style. This can be seen here:
But this style cannot be edited or changed because it does not show up in the dropdown of the parapgrah-styles - as can be seen here:
You DO NOT FIND the paragraph-style ("Absatzstil" in German) "Tabellenstil 1" in the dropdown.

  • Handout printing for keynote

Power point makes very nice handouts -- six or four to a page, whatever you want. In keynote when I print handouts with 6 slides to a page, I can only get it to print tiny little slides that are unreadable and run down the left side. How can I get it to print 6 slides that take up the whole page? Or 4 slides with room for notetaking?

    MU,
    welcome to Apple Discussions.
Print your presentation (command-P). In the print dialog window open the third drop-down list (Copies & Pages). Select "Layout" and set the "Pages per Sheet" to "6". Then, for a test, choose preview.
If you want to print miniatures with lines for note taking, get 5-up-template for Pages from Brian Peat's site: http://www.keynoteuser.com/downloads/other.html

  • Creating default chart styles in Keynote

I'm throwing my question out here to see if anyone has similar experiences working with creating own templates in Keynote, wanting to pre-define all styles possible in the theme.
    Here's the problem.
I'm trying to define pre-set styles for graphs in a theme I'm building for a client. But it's giving me a terrible headache. Whenever I try to create new graphic styles for the graphs, they keep mixing up. They loose colours and they somehow disappear fromt the inspector view where the styles are displayed.
The funniest thing is that whenever I define the bar chart or the pie chart, the colour settings I've worked so hard defining dissepear and are replaced with a blue gradient colour that originally was in the theme that I've changed. What am I doing wrong? Why does this ****** blue gradient stick in the theme?
    And so to the questions:
Has anyone experiences in creating preset styles for charts without them disappearing all the time? Or maybe a workaround for this?
Is there any way to define the keynote theme colours by going into the package content (assuming I've saved it as a package) and from there edit the .iwa-file called 'Document Stylesheet'? If so, how would that be done. I can't find any app that can handle these filetypes.
Here's an image of what it looks like:
I feel Keynote's way of defining theme colours is really bad and lacks features, compared to powerpoint, which is a breeze working with in comparison. At least when creating colour sets for a theme.
I could really use some help here! Thanks.
    Set up:
    MacBook Pro with Retina
    OS 10.10
    Keynote 6.5.2

In keynote you have a slide with a chart in it. I will use a bar chart for this example. Now that you have the slide with the chart you want to edit the colors of open, click on the "Colors" button at the top right of the Keynote window. Click on the wheel Until the box above the wheel displays the color you desire. Once you have that color chosen, click in that color box and drag it to the bar you want to have that color in your chart. Tada! You have now changed the color. I am on my iPhone or would have done some screen shots for you.
    Enjoy!

  • Is it possible, to use a Keynote background in another theme?

I'm using Keynote 6.5 under Yosemite and would like to use the "Industrial" theme for one of my presentations but with the background from the "Chalkboard" theme. Is there an (preferably easy) way to do this?
Additional information: I know I can change the background image by editing the master slides. So really, my problem is, I can't find the location where Keynote stores the background images. I fear, they are stored within the Standard.kth and Wide.kth Keynote theme files for standard and wide presentations respectively.

I just found out that with my approach described above, Keynote doesn't recognize the pasted content as Title and Body elements so that they can be changed only by editing the master slide. Apparently, I was a little rash here.
What worked for me in the end was to open two new presentations, one with the "Industrial" theme and one with "Chalkboard", and go through all master slides, pasting the text styles from "Industrial" into "Chalkboard". To copy text styles in Keynote, use  cmd+alt+c and to paste it back in, use cmd+alt+v.
After that, I only had to adjust the style of bulleted lists manually.

  • Transferring text from Word

I have a Word file with 65 pages of text that is formatted with Word styles (Heading 1, Heading 2, and son on) in outline form. I need to transfer this information to Keynote. Any ideas?

If you have PowerPoint, you might try using it to import the Word file, and then open the saved result in Keynote. PowerPoint will do its best to respect the styles, and Keynote will do its best to preserve the PowerPoint formatting.

  • Capturing quicktime chapters

    Morning all,
Is there a way to use applescript to capture the frame that a quicktime movie stops at for chapters and then continue onto the next chapter?
I am intending to do this with quicktime movies made from keynote presentations, with the intention of creating a series of image files that will then be imported into Pages to be used as handouts.
Since Keynote will create a Quicktime file with pauses for builds and transitions I thought that might be the easiest way to get the images out for the handouts.
I've looked at the applescript thingie for Quicktime but haven't a clue where to start. I would appreciate any suggestions on getting this to work. I would like to be able to share this as a either an Automator thingie or applescript whatchyamacallit when I am finished, since there are so many people who would benefit from the results.

Oh, if you want sample movies to play with you can find one here. You should be able to click and save from that link.

That's very close, but it saves each frame of each
    chapter, making 466 images.
Is there a way to make it so it only captures the
    last frame of a chapter?
    Hi Gerry
Ok, if it's to save the last image in each chapter, it would be better with (save as picture), because it save the image at the movie current time.
This script is much faster, 10 seconds instead of 71 seconds, because (copy ,cut, paste) is not necessary any more.
71 seconds : the image sequence settings is 4 frames per seconds, format: JPEG )
    property Main_folder : missing value
    set Main_folder to choose folder
    tell application "QuickTime Player"
if not (exists movie 1) then error "No movies are open."
    stop movies
tell front movie to set {currMovie, T_name, duration_list} to ¬
    {it, text 1 thru -5 of (get name), duration of chapters of (get first track whose kind is "Sprite")}
    set T_target to my makeFolder(T_name)
repeat with i from 1 to (count duration_list)
    tell currMovie
set current time to (item i of duration_list)
    export to (T_target & T_name & " Chapter " & i) as picture using settings preset "Photo-JPEG" -- or "Uncommpressed", or "PNG"
    end tell
    end repeat
    end tell
    on makeFolder(n)
tell application "Finder" to return (make new folder at Main_folder with properties {name:"Images from Movie " & n}) as Unicode text
    end makeFolder

  • Since downloading the 2013 Keynote upgrade, the slide image size on handouts with 3 slides per page option is very small. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping 3 slides per page   lines?

With the new Keynote upgrade (version 6.1), the slide image size on handouts is very small, which makes it difficult to read slide content when compiling lecture notes for students. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping to a format of 3 slides per page with lines?

A number of posts have reported the same issue, two workarounds:
    1
check the paper handling options or equivalent in your print dialogue box and set to scale to fit

in the Keynote option, in the dropdown menu in the Print section, select Individual Slides
then choose Layout, and set the number of pages, when printed you will have multiple pages on a single sheet.

  • Pasting text from word replaces Keynote styles

I get documents that are styled in Word that I have to convert to Keynote. Even though my text boxes are styled in the Master Slides, when I copy and paste text from word it comes in with all of word's formatting and disregard's Keynote's styling for that text box. I tried to convert the word docs to rtf or just plain text, but the text just imports without Keynote's styling applied to it. It would be very tedious to have to style each text box as I bring it in to Keynote. Does anyone have any suggestions to make the workflow less painful?
    Thanks

I don't have Omni Outliner to test with, but that does sound like something that's worth looking into. Send feedback to Omni at their site and to Apple with this link.

  • How to auto-style the pasted text at Keynote?

    Hi,
Currently I'm preparing a presentation via Keynote but there is a problem. I gathered information from my friends as .txt and .docx files. I've chosen the "Leather Book" template. When I paste the text from the .docx file, color and font of the text doesn't change to match the "Leather Book" template. However,.txt files seem to be okay. They just take the style of template. Is there an easy way to automatically convert the style of text to match the template's default style?
    Thanks in advance.
         1. This is what happens when I paste text from the .docx file.
        2. When I paste text from a .txt file, text automatically takes the style of the template.

    Hi,
Thanks for answering. I've just figured it out And for those who struggle with the same problem, there is another way I found out: Open the document with Pages, File> Export> Plain Text. When you save the file as plain text, you can just copy and paste without using "paste and match style".
    Have a nice day.

  • Keynote '09 Handouts - Problem printing 6 slides per page

With Keynote '09, I'd like to print handouts of 6 slides per page, where the slides are of reasonable size, take up most of the space on the page, and are not oriented in a single vertical column. I used to be able to accomplish this with earlier versions of Keynote, but can't figure it out in Keynote '09. Anyone know the secret? Seems like a major flaw in the software.

In the Print dialog box, tell Keynote to print Individual Slides. Then go to Layout and tell the printer to print 6 slides per page and select the layout option that you would like.
