Hardware test CD for an e-mac with a 1.13GHz CPU

The hardware cd that came with this e-mac tells me that it is not supported.
Were do I find the download from Apple for the hardware cd that this e-mac will support and will work on it.
Thanks
George barlow

There were no 1.13 GHz model eMacs; there were 700 and 800 MHz and 1.0. 1.25, and 1.42 GHz models. It would appear you have a hacked overclocked model. I have no information wheter AHT will work correctly with an overclocked Mac.
There's no Apple source for downloading the AHT disc for any mac, as far as I know. There are third-party resellers who offer system discs for various Macs, or you can call the Apple store, wade through the voice mail to get a live operator, and ask about ordering an eMac disc as an out-of-production item. Note that if the eMac originally came with OS X on DVD (i.e., came with a Restore DVD rather than a set of CDs), AHT would be a aeparate bootable partition on the DVD that can be used via Startup Manager: Select a Startup Volume.

  • Apple Hardware Test software for late '07 Macbook?

    Where do I get the Apple Hardware Test software for a late '07 Macbook?  Original disk is long lost and it doesn't appear Apple has this up for download.
    The battery is not taking any charge, totally dead after 772 cycles.  But don't know if its the battery or the Macbook's internal battery charging hardware.

    Using How to identify MacBook models your Macbook is a Macbook 3,1. At this link https://github.com/upekkha/AppleHardwareTest click on Macbook3,1 link which will download the AHT software. Here is the direct link - MacBook3,1 Mac-F22788C8.

    Your MacBook Air is an Intel-based system. To download the current version (11.2.202.228),  go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and download it from there.
    If there is still a Flash issue, you can try the Google Chrome browser, which has the current Flash built into it, to see if it works any differently with the videos. It's available from https://www.google.com/chrome

  • How do I run Apple Hardware Test on a 2012 MacBook Air with 10.8.4?

    Hello everyone,
    I am trying to run Apple Hardware Test on a mid-2012 MacBook Air with 10.8.4 installed. Whenever I restart and hold the letter D my computer goes into internet recovery mode and asks me to connect to Wifi... Please help, thanks!

    Using Apple Hardware Test on computers with OS X 10.7 or later
    Mac NoteBook and Desktop computers shipping with OS X 10.7 or later have a partition on the hard drive or flash storage that contains AHT. To start AHT on these computers please follow these instructions:
    Press the power button to turn on your computer.
    Press and hold the D key before the gray startup screen appears.
    It takes a minute or so for AHT to start up and inspect your hardware configuration. While this is taking place, an icon appears on the screen:
    When the process is complete, select your language and click the right arrow. If you aren't using a mouse, you can use the up and down arrows to select a language and then press the Return key.
    The AHT console appears. You can choose which sort of test or tests to perform:
    To perform all of the basic tests, click the Test button or press the "T" key or the Return key.
    To perform a more thorough diagnostic test, select the "Perform extended testing" checkbox under the Test button before you click the Test button.
    Note: Your test results will appear in the window in the bottom-right of the console.To exit AHT, click Restart or Shut Down at the bottom of the window.
    Some Macintosh computers that shipped with OS X Lion and later support the use of Apple Hardware Test over the Internet. These computers will start up to an Internet-based version of AHT if the hard drive does not contain AHT.  An Internet-enabled connection via Ethernet or Wi-Fi is required to use this feature. Internet-based AHT functions the same as AHT on the hard drive or flash storage outlined above.
    The Mac NoteBook and Desktop computers listed in Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery will require a firmware in order to support the Internet version of AHT. Without this update you may see the behavior discussed in this article.

  • Separate Apple Hardware Test DVD for MacBook Pro original??

    Hey Folks, I'm trying to verify whether or not the MacBook Pro came with the Apple Hardware Test as a separate DVD disk. The "MacBook Pro" Install disk references it but I can't seem to find the software on that DVD. Any guesses out there would be appreciated. I'm about to perform an upgrade for Tiger to Leopard and wnat to give my laptop the "hairy eyeball" before I begin.
    Many Thanks,
    Peter

    Insert the DVD and start up the computer with the D key held down. The Hardware Test is on a separate area of the DVD and isn't normally accessible.

  • What is the best hardware test utility for my macbook pro?

    I'm familiar with Apple Hardware Test which is available by pressing the 'D' key before the gray startup screen appears, but what about other 3rd party utilities? Are any of them better than A.H.T.? For instance how does ToolTech Pro 6.0.6 compare with A.H.T.? Additionally is DiskWarrior any better than using the apple's built in disc utility (cmd + r upon startup or in utilities folder)?

    Thanks for the advise Linc Davis. I just spoke with a technician a moment ago who confirmed some of what you said. He told me that Disk Warrior is, as you said, for software related issues, but for hardware related issues they use Vilitans Software called Smart Utilities which is helpful in diagnosing any hardware related problems with a hard drive. He also informed me that there are no utlities, that he knows of, outside of what Apple Service Centers provides have that is any good for any other form of hardware diagnostics.
    The reason I've posted this is in hopes that there was something I could buy and use in the future when I don't have easy access to an apple store and for use now since I'm having trouble with my system periodically crashing during it's sleep mode. I would really like to figure out why. I've checked the hard drive already with the apple disc utility and it's fine, but I'm still getting the crashing so that's the other reason I was hoping to obtain this utility, but it's clear I should wait till I get to an apple store or service center to resolve this problem appropriatly.

  • Apple hardware test (AHT) preinstalled on latest macs

    hello,
    it seems that apple ships it's latest mac models, with AHT preinstalled - i.e. if you hold down the 'D' key on startup a new mac boots into AHT even without any CD present.
    according to another thread (which i unfortunately lost the link to) it is installed in the following hidden direcotry:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/.diagnostics
    which contains a whole lot of things.
    this is obviously very handy to have, however if you have to do a fresh install this directory does not get recreated, thus we are wondering about the following:
    • with which models has apple started to do this;
    • does the .diagnostics directory contain model specific information;
    • how can we recreate this directory once lost, due to OS reinstallation;
    any help appreciated.
    ds.

    thanks for your reply - that is exactly what i had hoped for.
    now to the intriguing part, as described in your reference there is whole bunch of subfolders with seemingly similar content in /.diagnostics
    after closer inspection, here is what i found...

  • One program for pc and mac with different imports

    I am trying to port my Java program from the PC to the MAC. I would like to have one program that works on both, the PC and the MAC. So I am using the
    if (System.getProperty("mrj.version") == null) //PC
    else //MAC
    condition to see if I am on the PC or MAC for making sure that the About menu is at the Help menu on top of the application window (PC) or at the Program menu on top of the screen (MAC) and the Control key (PC) or Command key (MAC) is used.
    However, the Mac also uses additional imports, such as
    import com.apple.laf.*;
    import com.apple.mrj.*;
    import com.apple.eawt.*;
    I cannot make an if statement before the imports. How can I make sure that the imports are only used on the MAC?
    Thanks for your time!

    ..my program has a GUI...>Cool. OK - if you have not tried applications launched by JWS (Java Web Start) it is usually handy to get a feel for how they work for the end user. The biggest difference is between sandboxed applications, and ones that request extended permissions in the form of either j2ee-application-client-permissions or all-permissions. The first removes the warning banner from the bottom of windows, and adds a few other allowable actions, while the latter is, as it implies - all permissions.
    Examples of all-permissions/sandboxed can be seen in this [demo of the JNLP fileservice|http://pscode.org/jws/api.html#fs].
    >
    .. It is a computer graphics program, and it has a Tools palette where you can specify what and how you want to draw or select or move, and it has a Measurements palette, where you can use numbers for your drawing.>Does it offer to export the resulting graphics (e.g. save them to disk)? Does the program load graphic objects from disk? The reason I pointed to a demo of the differences between sand boxed and trusted apps., is because if the app. wants to 'access the local disks' it will either need to request all-permissions or as demonstrated in the example, use the [JNLP API|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/jre/api/javaws/jnlp/index.html] (a group of classes only available to apps. launched by webstart) to do common things like access disks or printer, or take control of downloads...
    If you click the [Launch File Service (sandboxed) demo|http://pscode.org/jws/filetest-sandbox.jnlp] link, you can see what the experience would be like for the end user if the app. were converted to use the JNLP API for file I/O and was delivered entirely sandboxed.
    Of course, if your app. could work entirely sand boxed, like an applet - no code signing or extra permissions would be necessary, but that is uncommon for a desktop application.

    So could you please give me some explanation or reference how to do launching it using webstart, and putting the mac specific resources into a resource section flagged for the Mac? >Launching an app. via webstart is not entirely 'simple', especially if you are new to it. OTOH it is well worth the effort - for the sake of the end user.
    The very basics of webstart is that you create a JNLP file to launch the app., I guess it is similar to the Mac .plist (or whatever they are) that you are discussing in another thread. Java JNLP files are a form of XML. Here is an example of what one might look like for an app. that provides different resources to different OS.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <jnlp spec="1.0"
          codebase="http://ananya.com/lib"
          href="ananyacurves.jnlp">

           <all-permissions />
      </security>
        <resources>
          <j2se version="1.6+" />
          <jar href="AnanyaCurves.jar" main='true' />
        </resources>
        <!-- This is it! Supply the mac specific classes ONLY to Macintosh OS. -->
        <resources os='Mac'>
          <jar href="mac-specific.jar" />
        </resources>
      <application-desc />
    </jnlp>
    >
    ..Well, I am a complete beginner at this.>It can be a steep learning curve to first use JWS successfully, but it is well worth it.
    There is a good [overview of webstart|http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Programming/jnlp/], but I also find it handy to keep the documentation on the [JNLP file syntax|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/developersguide/syntax.html] nearby.
    Unfortunately many IDEs (and people) are not that competent at writing JNLP files, so I provide a JNLP XSD and [YAX-V|http://pscode.org/xml/xmltools.html#yaxv] to validate them.

  • Purchased Lightroom educator version for use on Mac with Yosemite and it won't open.  It crashes overtime I try to open it.

    I purchased Lightroom for use on a MAC using the new operating system of Yosemite, and it crashes every time it tries to open.  I have removed and reinstalled it, but it does not help.  Is this program mac compatible?  How can I get it to work?

    This should not be so difficult, and really does not require a screenshot, or a chain of a dozen email.
    The message says “Lightroom quit unexpectedly.  Click report to send a report to apple.”  There is no error number or any other message.  That is it.
    It has been installed, removed and reinstalled.
    IT DOES NOT OPEN.
    How do I resolve this.  I have now spent hours on this issue and I am in the same place.

  • Need Apple Hardware Test Software For Sept 2006 iMac

    I am aware it came with the original installation from 4 years ago. But the original installation is not available. Is this available and be downloaded from somewhere else?

    No you cannot download the AHT however you can call Apple and they can replace the installation disc for a nominal fee. That way you will have both it and the AHT for future use. Getting a replacement disc is wise because sooner or later you may need it if you plan to sell the machine or need to re-install the OS.

  • I can"t open the apple hardware test from the applecare support website

    i received the applecare training program for my birthday and while exploring the applecare service source website i found a image file of the apple hardware test (AHT) for each model along with a pdf of the service manual and a pdf of the AHT service codes. The problem i'm having is, i cant open the image of the AHT.

    After downloading that image, open it and it will show up mounted in your desktop. Then, open Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities), right-click your Apple Hardware Test image in the sidebar and burn it to a DVD. Finally, start your computer from the disc, holding the C key, so Apple Hardware Test should start, always that you have the correct version for your computer.
    You have Apple Hardware Test in the Applications disc that came with the computer. In that case, hold the D key while your computer is starting

  • Is there stress testing software for the Mac?

    I am looking for a stress-testing program for OSX. Something that would press a computer to it's limits and make it crash faster, if it's supposed to crash intermittently. Can anyone suggest such a program for the Macintosh?
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi, T.M.
    If you're looking to troubleshoot an intermittent problem that may be hardware-related, See my "Apple Hardware Test" FAQ for comprehensive advice on using the Apple Hardware Test in troubleshooting, including running the test in Loop Mode.
    There is also Xbench, a performance benchmarking tool.
    More details as to what prompts your question might help.
    Good luck!

  • I can not perform hardware test on 2011 imac with mavericks

    I unplug all devices from my iMac and held the d key and still can not get to the hardware test. The Mac store was able to perform it with a wired mouse even after I added more ram therefore I know it can be performed. Am I leaving something out?

    Read the instructions in Using Apple Hardware Test.
    If your iMac shipped with discs, you must run AHT while holding the d key while starting the Mac with its grey Applications Install DVD inserted in the optical drive.
    To force the Internet version of AHT to load: with two fingers hold option d while starting your iMac with a third finger.

    MBP with Lion, have Hardware test fault number: 4sns/1/40000000:ibor-9.166. CPU usage above 300% by kernel task. Runs good in safe mode?
    Started when spilled liquid was discovered and cleaned. So expect this to have caused the issue. MBP works again, but very slow.
    Any ideas? Logic board to be replaced maybe?

    There is a bad sensor inside your MBP.  That may only be the start of your problems.  Bring it to a repair facility as fast as possible.  Do not use the MBP and DO NOT put rice in it.
    Baptisms are often the death knell for a MBP.  Be prepared for a very substantial repair bill or contemplate a new purchase.  I may be wrong with my bad news, and I hope so, but based on other experience, the odds are not in your favor.
