Hashing Dilemma

Hello,
I have a bit of a problem that I'm not quite sure how I can resolve with java.
An object contains a long string of characters (over 500 words) which I would intend to use as a key in a hash table. The value returned would be the object itself. Now this would be fine if there wasnt an extra restriction that the table should be ordered by a double value contained within the object itself. Can anyone recommend a java class which I can work with to solve this problem. Any advice would be very helpful.
thanks
-Ben

I think I've explained the problem badly as well
theres a few things I forgot to mention. Basically
theres an object A that contains two objects of type
F. the object A also contains a double value. What I
want is a structure which can store object A in order
of the double value You don't need a Map for that, any of the sorted Collections will work, like a PriorityQueue.
and remove entries (A objects)
from the structure that also contain either of the F
objects contained within the highest ranked A
object.That's not provided by any of the Collections, you'll need to implement that behavior yourself. Wrap your add functionality, and compare the added element to the current "top" element, add it if it's unique, don't if it isn't. If you want to be able to rearrange the elements already in the collection, it gets more compilcated, since you'll have to examine each element and compare it to the new "top" and remove duplicates.
So to sum up in sort of pseudocode:
A {
F f1
F f2
double score
}Im trying to find a structure that can store A in
order of 'score' then remove entries that contain
either the same f1 and f2 as the highest ranked A
object.http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/collections/implementations/index.html

    I want to be able to display results in my hash table as a bar chart i don't know how to do it could someone help me I've looked through tutorials couldn't find any information that actually helped.
    In my program it doesnt allow matching the capital and small letters

    im not asking anyone to do it for me i just want people to show me how to do it

  • How about use partial key to loop at a hashed table?

    Such as I want to loop a Internal table of BSID according to BKPF.
    data itab_bsid type hashed table of BSID with unique key bukrs belnr gjahr buzid.
    Loop at itab_bsid where bukrs = wa_bkpf-bukrs
                              and    belnr  = wa_bkpf-belnr
                              and    gjahr  = wa_bkpf-gjahr.
    endloop.
    I know if you use all key to access this hashed table ,it is certainly quick, and my question is when i use partial key of this internal hashed table to loop it, how about its performance.
    Another question is in this case(BSID have many many record) , Sorted table and Hashed table , Which is better in performance.

    You can't cast b/w data reference which l_tax is and object reference which l_o_tax_code is.
    osref is a generic object type and you store a reference to some object in it, right? So the question is: what kind of object you store there? Please note - this must be an object reference , not data reference .
    i.e
    "here goes some class
    class zcl_spfli definition.
    endclass.
    class zcl_spfli implementation.
    endclass.
    "here is an OBJECT REFERENCE for it, (so I refer to a class) i.e persistent object to table SPFLI
    data oref_spfli type ref to zcl_spfli.
    "but here I have a DATA REFERENCE (so I refer to some data object) i.e DDIC structure SPFLI
    data dref_spfli type ref to spfli.
    So my OSREF can hold only oref_spfli but it not intended for dref_spfli . That's why you get this syntax error. Once you have stored reference to zcl_spfli in osref then you will be able to dereference it and access this object's attributes.
    data: osref type osref.
    create object osref_spfli.
    osref = osref_spfli.
    "now osref holds reference to object, you can deference it
    oref_spfli ?= osref.
    osref_spfli->some_attribute = ....
    OSREFTAB is just a table whose line is of type OSREF (so can hold multiple object references - one in each line).

  • How to get values from Hash Table

    Hi all,
    I have a hash table "lovResults" craeted with following code -
    String lovInputSourceId = pageContext.getParameter(SOURCE_PARAM);
    Hashtable lovResults = pageContext.getLovResultsFromSession(lovInputSourceId);
    values which I can see through SOP are - ******Value of lovResults is{roleid=1000, domainFV=CREATIVE, Role=Account Director}
    How can I get the domain value "domainFV=CREATIVE" from hash table in a variable because I have to set this vaue in another field.
    Please help me ASAP
    Thanks
    Amit

    Hi Amit ,
    Since you are successfully printing the values using sop's , please try this code
    Capture the value in controller .
    if(oapagecontext.getParameter("domainFV") != null)
    String formvalue= oapagecontext.getParameter("domainFV") // ensure hashtable id is correct

  • 3DES decryption with SHA1 hashed key

    Hello all,
    I've been given the task of rewriting an existing VB application in Java, and one routine makes use of the Microsoft Cryptography API.
    The VB code decrypts a string using TripleDES decryption, using a string key that's been hashed with a SHA1 has algorithm.
    Most of the java DESede encryption/decryption examples I've worked through generate keys with a KeyGenerator instance, but I have not yet found any examples that use a key that's been SHA1 hashed.
    My attempts at using a hashed byte[] array of my key phrase with a DESede Crypto instance always return a "wrong key size" error.
    Can anyone provide some help? Example code fragments or anything would help.

    Thanks for the reply, and you're right in that this might be a more appropriate question to ask on a VB forum or on a MS cryptography API forum.
    Nevertheless, I've been able to make some headway on the VB side by getting the bytes of the SHA-1 hash map through some API calls.
    The hex representation of the SHA-1 hashed keyword:
    "3EC10CE885353DCD23B912860C2B91885CD3D6D1"
    A keyword to use as a test:
    "logins"
    Hex representation of the 3DES encrypted result of "logins" using the hashed keyword:
    "FB158A921E3C4CDB"
    Currently, my problem is with the length of the key. As you pointed out, SHA is 20 bytes, while 3DES is looking for 24 bytes. I'll experiment with your suggested 2-key approach, but here's my test code at the moment:
    import java.security.*;
    import javax.crypto.*;
    import javax.crypto.Cipher;
    import javax.crypto.Mac;

    for(int i = 0; i < iLength; i+=2) {
    try {

  • Private Key, Hash , sa password

    I didn't do the installation for this ecommerce site, I am just coming in later to customize the site and I was told that the initial installation was complete.  When I try and browse to the site of check sync manager I am getting 2 errors that I have never seen before.  The first is when I run the sync manager I get Private Key is incorrect or Hash not set.  I have gone in and checked and the private key is correct if I look at the web.config?  I am also getting a login failed for user "sa" when I try and browse to the site.  I was told the sa password is correct and the password works fine in the server config section of the sync manager.  Has anyone ever encountered anything similar to this?  When I searched the forums I found nothing like this.  I have done a few installations using SAP E-Commerce but I am far from an expert.
    Thanks

    Well, if the sa password is working in SynchManager but not on the website, then you definitely have an authentication problem. This is quite simple to fix.
    You'll need to recreate your Web Tools configuration in the instances.xml file located in your eCommerce Program Files directory. If you edit it, you will be able to see one "instance" XML node for each instance that you have installed. The one you want to remove should have an InstanceName attribute value that matches the name that you see in the Installer. Once you decide that this needs to be removed, you can either delete the node or simply comment it out using XML/HTML comments - it certainly wouldn't hurt to make a backup of this file in any case.
    After you've done this, you'll want to rerun the Installer, but in Instance-Only mode - this can be done by executing "installer.exe -i". The installer will automatically start an Advanced Install, but once it gets to the final step where all the action takes place, there will be a message that states that all of the steps will be skipped. Clicking finish will not overwrite anything, but instead place a new configuration in your instances.xml file of the configuration you just set up. This will allow you to re-enter the SQL login name and password for the website.
    Let me know if I've muddied or cleared the waters for you.

  • How to use one hash table inside another hash table

    Hi everyone,
    Any example of hash table inside another hash table.
    Can one here help me how to write one hash table inside another with repeating keys for the first hash table.
    Thanks,
    kanty.

    Do you mean you want the 'value' entries in a hash table to themselves be hash tables? Easy but this often indicates a design flaw.
    Hashtable<String,<Hashtable<String,Value>> fred = new Hashtable<String,<Hashtable<String,Value>> ();But what do you mean by "with repeating keys for the first hash table"?
    Edited by: sabre150 on Jul 2, 2010 10:11 PM
    Looks like you have already handled the declaration side in your other thread. I suspect you should be writing your own beans that hold the information and these beans would then be stored in a Map. The problem I have is that your description is too vague so I can't be certain.

  • How do I use Get-ADUser to get just the Managers attribute? And then get rid of duplicates in my array/hash table?

    Hello,
          I am trying to just get the Managers of my users in Active Directory. I have gotten it down to the user and their manager, but I don't need the user. Here is my code so far:
    Get-ADUser-filter*-searchbase"OU=REDACTED,
    OU=Enterprise Users, DC=REDACTED, DC=REDACTED"-PropertiesManager|SelectName,@{N='Manager';E={(Get-ADUser$_.Manager).Name}}
    |export-csvc:\managers.csv-append
    Also, I need to get rid of the duplicate values in my hash table. I tried playing around with -sort unique, but couldn't find a place it would work. Any help would be awesome.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    I would caution that, although it is not likely, managers can also be contact, group, or computer objects. If this is possible in your situation, use Get-ADObject in place of Get-ADUser inside the curly braces.
    Also, if you only want users that have a manager assigned, you can use -LDAPFilter "(manager=*)" in the first Get-ADUser.
    Finally, if you want all users that have been assigned the manager for at least one user, you can use:
    Get-ADUser
    -LDAPFilter "(directReports=*)" |
    Select @{N='Manager';E={ (Get-ADUser
    $_.sAMAccountName).Name }}
    -Unique | Sort Manager |
    Export-Csv .\managerList.csv -NoTypeInformation
    This works because when you assign the manager attribute of a user, this assigns the user to the directReports attribute of the manager. The directReports atttribute is multi-valued (an array in essence).
    Again, if managers can be groups or some other class of object (not likely), then use Get-ADObect throughout and identify by distinguishedName instead of sAMAccountName (since contacts don't have sAMAccountName).

  • Generating hashes for multiple shares in one folder using BranchCache Publish-BCFileContent -Path

    When using Publish-BCFileContent to generate hashes for multiple shared directories that are all within the same parent directory, can I just specify the parent directory as the "-Path" parameter or do I need to run the cmdlet for each share
    separately?
    For example:
    My file server has 3 separate shared folders:
    E:\Shares\Documents
    E:\Shares\Music
    E:\Shares\Pictures
    (E:\Shares is not directly shared)
    To generate hashes for all 3 shared directories to export to a remote hosted cache computer could I run the Publish-BCFileContent cmdlet just once with just E:\Shares as the -Path parameter?
    Publish-BCFileContent -Path E:\Shares -StageData
    Or do I need to run the cmdlt 3 separate times as below?
    Publish-BCFileContent -Path E:\Shares\Documents -StageData
    Publish-BCFileContent -Path E:\Shares\Music -StageData
    Publish-BCFileContent -Path E:\Shares\Pictures -StageData

    Hi CharlesPool,
    If there are only these three subfolders under the directory E:\Shares, you can try the cmdlet:
    Publish-BCFileContent -Path E:\Shares -StageData -Recurse
    Use the recurse parameter to specify that hashes are created for content in subfolders. If you do not use this parameter, then hashes are created only for content in the top folder and no hashes are created for content in subfolders.
    If there are other folders under D:\Shares, you need to run the cmdlet separately, and you can also use the cmdlet foreach to loop every folders (E:\Shares\Documents, E:\Shares\Music, E:\Shares\Pictures):
    $folders = "E:\Shares\Documents","E:\Shares\Music","E:\Shares\Pictures"
    Foreach($folder in $folders){
    Publish-BCFileContent –Path $folder –StageData}

  • Question on the use of hash tables

    I have created a extract program that extract data from the bkpf and the bseg tables. I am extracting a lot of data which is needed for the auditors and depending on the selection criteria (company code and date range), this extract takes quite awhile to run. I had heard from another developer working in a different project that hash tables are used when dealing with a lot of data. I am not that familiar with hash tables and was wondering if the hash table approach would help with the processing time of my process.

  • How to remove hash in the value of the field fetched from application serve

    Hi,
       I am populating values of the file which is in the application server to the internal table. But for the last field hash is also populating from the file along with the value.
    Please suggest me how to remove hash in the value of the last field.
    Thanks,
    Neelima.

    Hi Vinay,
    Please check the program. I have used the replace statement but it is not working.
    IF NOT v_sap_bom_rec IS INITIAL.
    Spliting the records at '~' delimiter
        SPLIT v_sap_bom_rec AT c_del INTO  wa_bom_file-model_name
                                           wa_bom_file-product_code
                                           wa_bom_file-description
                                           wa_bom_file-product_type
                                           wa_bom_file-mfg_part_num
                                           wa_bom_file-mfg_part_desc.
        REPLACE cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab IN wa_bom_file-mfg_part_desc WITH space .
        wa_bom_file-status = c_status.
        APPEND wa_bom_file  TO i_bom_file.
    But it is not working.
    Please help me..
    Thanks

  • Is there a way to change the type of hash for passwords in active direcroty?

    I would like to know what type of hash used for active directory passwords and if there is a way to change the type of hash.

    Hi,
    Windows generates and stores user account passwords by using two different password representations, generally known as "hashes." When you set or change the password for a user account to a password that contains fewer than 15 characters, Windows generates
    both a LAN Manager hash (LM hash) and a Windows NT hash (NT hash) of the password.
    You can configure the type to only store the stronger NT hash of your password.
    How to prevent Windows from storing a LAN manager hash of your password in Active Directory and local SAM databases

  • Please help me to come out of this dilemma.

    Hi
    I am in dilemma.
    Recently i have joined a new organization which is a world leader in its field . The company name is very popular around the globe. But the thing is its almost 4 months , and as an Oracle DBA , i am not getting chance to work on something interesting / challenging . The thing is , i studied the environment here and i think most of my work involves only preparing DB docs , attending meeting and raising support tickets once a while. So very minimal technical work.
    To be honest, in last 4 years of my career i haven't worked in such a large organization before so during interview i didn't ask for type of work ,and i just wanted to join this organization as it will have a dramatic impact when i mention the name in my resume . I do not want to quit this organization so early because it will have a bad impression . Also , i think speaking to my bosses will not work because they cant help it in any way .
    I am happy with every thing else here , but i want to leave this company for doing something challenging as an Oracle DBA , but want to stay here because every thing else is damn good and also when i switch to a new company after 2 years , people will be dying to hire me ;) , am i contradicting ?
    Please help me to come out of this dilemma.
    Thanks

    Well, joining a big company from a small company and then leaving it just in few days would actually backfire. Next hiring people would think that since you were in capable to handle the workload in a big company(because you never worked in such environment before), you were thrown out. You won't be able to justify your reason that you left because you didnt' find enough challenge there because it can be completely blown away by a simple counter that how did you know that there was no challenging work there as you never stayed there even for a year too! So IMO, you would do more harm for you than anything good be quitting now. Its a mistake not to ask about the work but you have committed it already . What you should n't do is to do add another one and that is to leave the company now.
    Since you are not having much work, why don't you use it learn more about the company, its various works, other divisons and above all, to learn oracle database in your spare time. There is no place where you would be given challenges for your sake. If there is work it would come to you else you would be remaining free. You are working as a normal dba I believe not in support or something like that for you, every time, a new issue ticket is ready. If you have spare time with you, use it wisely to understand how things are working , both in your organization and with oralce db. Spend time doing trainings and learn more about the product, complete at least and then leave.
    Just my 2 cents.
