Have to refresh multiple queries in a single refresh

Hi  Gurus,
Our user want  to refresh multiple queries in a single shot instead of opening multiple times. is there any macros or any other way to acheive that?
Please help me out in this issue.

Hi there,
You can use workbook for that.
Create a workbook with several queries and in the properties of the workbook, on the tab Variables, choose to display the duplicate variables only once.
This will display only once the popup pf the variables for all the queries.

  • Multiple queries in a single report?

    I'm having some issues with the ColdFusion Report Builder...
    I have a database table called "Items" that includes fields
    for Reviewer and Status. I want to create a report that will list a
    reviewer, then express the number of items where the Status is
    "open" as a total or record count. I want to do the same for total
    items, and then express the number of "open" items as a percentage.
    For example:
    REVIEWER, OPEN ITEMS, TOTAL ITEMS, PERCENT OPEN
    John Doe, 10, 20, 50%
    Jane Smith, 15, 60, 25%
    ...and so on.
    So far I've only been able to get my report to display the
    recordcount of the entire query. In order troubleshoot the problem
    I created a regular cfm page to do the same thing. Here's what I
    did:
    <cfquery name="getreviewers"
    datasource="#APPLICATION.datasource#">
    SELECT DISTINCT Reviewer
    FROM Items
    ORDER BY Reviewer
    </cfquery>
    <cfoutput query="getreviewers">
    <cfquery name="getopenitems"
    datasource="#APPLICATION.datasource#">
    SELECT Status
    FROM Items
    WHERE Status='open'
    AND Reviewer = '#Reviewer#'
    </cfquery>
    <cfset open = getopenitems.recordcount>
    <cfquery name="getallitems"
    datasource="#APPLICATION.datasource#">
    SELECT Status
    FROM Items
    WHERE Reviewer = '#Reviewer#'
    </cfquery>
    <cfset all = getallitems.recordcount>
    <cfset percent = (open / all) * 100>
    #getreviewers.DR_Item_Reviewer#, #open#, #all#,
    #Round(percent)#%
    </cfoutput>
    That worked great, but as you can see I had to nest a couple
    of queries inside a <cfoutput>. I don't know how to
    incorporate this into the report builder, as it seems you can only
    specify a single query. Another thing that occurs to me is perhaps
    I'm going about this the wrong way. Is there perhaps a function
    that will display things the way I want them without fussing with
    multiple queries? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
    advance.

    It seems like you are trying to do a subreport. You can nest
    reports within the report feature...just check out the subreport
    feature under the help section. If that doesn't help let me
    know.

  • How to insert multiple queries into a single worksheet of same dataprovider

    Hello friends,
    My question is same as this.I want to know how to create a single worksheet(workbook) embedded with multiple queries of same DATA PROVIDER with different VARIABLES assigned to each query.
    Please,send me the relevant steps.
    Regards,
    Mohan Chand Reddy A

    Hi,
    You need to create one query workbook and rest of the queries you can insert manually from Bex tool -
    insert query.
    You need to insert query by adding one more tab in the workbook.
    Keep in mind only one thing that variable ..if you are going to keep variable it will keep on popping up for user entry in it.
    So try to have common variable in the first query and then those value needs to get fed into other query variable as they are running so without any user entry while execution we can see results in all the queries in the workbook.
    If you want to insert a query into a new workbook:
    Choose the symbol for Open...from the BEx toolbar. This brings you to the screen Open SAP BEx:
    Select Queries from the left column.
    Select a query from all those available. The queries are arranged according to InfoProviders.
    Double-click on the required query or choose OK.
    If you want to insert a query into the active workbook:
    Open a workbook and, from the BEx toolbar, choose Tools ® Insert Query.... The query is then inserted into the current worksheet starting at the active cell.
    If you want to insert a query into a workbook template:
    Create a workbook template.
    Insert the query into the workbook template.
    Thanks and regards

  • Runtime / multiple queries (fast) vs. single or'ed one (sloooow) - why?

    Hi!
    I have a rather huge database (actually, a view..) with ~25 million records (rows).
    A query like...
    select * from mydb where id=123;
    ...is executed in a few 1/100 of a second. But I have a list of ~100 id's to be checked. But when I execute
    select * from mydb where id in (123, 345, 456, ... )
    it takes minutes to complete! Of course if a single test runs in time t, I was expecting that N tests would run in N*t time, so O(N). But this is not true. I also tried to use or'ed test for equality instead of "in (...)". No change. Still slooooow.
    I also created these about 100 separate queries, i.e.
    select * from mydb where id=123;
    select * from mydb where id=345;
    select * from mydb where id=456;
    and again, each single one completed in a few 1/100 of a second. So, this way, I get the results in O(N) time.
    Now I wonder why the execution time differs that much. And how I can avoid the long execution time when using a single query. I know the system will "optimize" my query. So it's hard to predict in what way (order) a query is actually process. But it looks like the optimization process fails in this case. Anything I can do?
    Actually, my original query was more like
    select
    from
    smaller_database s
    left join
    big_database b
    on s.id=b.id
    where
    <some conditions on s>
    i.e. the about 100 IDs to look at come from the smaller database.
    Your hints welcome!

  • Insert multiple queries using either WORKBOOK, WAD or Report Designer

    Hello Guys
    I have a task where I have to insert multiple queries into one single page/sheet & print it out later. For this I can use any one of the tools available: Workbook, WAD or Report Designer.
    1. Workbook - Here I have read that we can use a call back MACRO and some other features.
    2. WAD - Here I have read that we can use: 1. Multiple data providers (one for each query) & 2. Multiple web analysis items linking to each individual data provider.
    3. Report Designer - Since this is the actual 'formatting' tool provided by SAP, I am assuming that this is the right environment to achieve my task.
    My question: Which one out of the above 3 tools is actually feasible? Can someone explain me in detail about how to go about this task. Any 'How to..' docs from SAP would also be most helpful.
    Regards.

    Hi Kashyap,
    I have done similar requirement in Workbook,it has better features and more user friendly than others......it depends on the individual...but U cna meet your requirement thru Workbooks...
    If the Req are complicated then we go for MAcros ,where in we can satify the critical req,say some sort of Dynamic reqs.
    There are lot of threads on Multiple queries in one Workbook....Just search in SDN and u will get lot of Threads on this topic.

  • Embedding image and multiple queries in cfgrid

    I have a datagrid that displays a user's work history pulled
    from one query. In the original HTML table set up, a status icon
    for each work item was displayed as either "New", 'Needs Attention"
    or "Archived". This status was determined by using a value from the
    first query as a filter in the WHERE clause of the second query:
    ------------------- Original Query -------------------------
    <cfquery datasource="#application.defaultdsn#"
    name="qQuestions">
    SELECT discussions.dateSubmitted, discussions.discussionID,
    discussions.subjectID, discussions.topic, users.firstName + ' ' +
    users.lastName AS stName,
    subjects.subjectID AS Expr1, subjects.subject
    FROM discussions INNER JOIN
    users ON discussions.userID = users.userid INNER JOIN
    subjects ON discussions.subjectID = subjects.subjectID
    WHERE 0=0
    <cfif getDiscussionIDs.recordCount GT 0>
    AND (
    <cfloop query="getDiscussionIDs">
    discussions.discussionID = #getDiscussionIDs.discussionID#
    <cfif getDiscussionIDs.currentRow NEQ
    getDiscussionIDs.recordCount>OR</cfif>
    </cfloop>
    <cfelse>
    AND 0=1
    </cfquery>
    ------------------------ Queries used to determine status
    <cfquery datasource="#application.defaultdsn#"
    name="LatestMessage">
    SELECT Max(discussionPosts.postID) AS NewestMessage
    FROM discussionPosts
    WHERE discussionPosts.discussionID =
    #qQuestions.discussionID#
    </cfquery>
    <cfset variables.userTypetoView = "tutor">
    <!--- <cfif LatestMessage.recordCount --->
    <cfquery datasource="#application.defaultdsn#"
    name="getLastInfo">
    SELECT discussionPosts.userType,
    discussionPosts.dateSubmitted, discussionPosts.viewerID
    FROM discussionPosts
    WHERE discussionPosts.postID = #LatestMessage.NewestMessage#
    </cfquery>
    My question is how can I emulate this same status icon setup
    in a cfgrid? I used the following ActionScript to create a new
    column in the grid and return a string. However, this new column
    must logically know how to display the correct status IMAGE for
    each corresponding row. As you can see, there are no database
    tables for storing the status - which would have made this much
    easier.
    function setStat(){
    eQArchive.getColumnAt(1).labelFunction = statIcon;
    function statIcon(item
    bject, columnName:String): String{
    if (item[columnName] != undefined) {
    return asIcon;
    else {
    return "";
    I also tried using the toScript() function in CF7 to see if I
    can set a variable equal to the appropriate image and then return
    it in the above script, but this is where I am at a loss.
    <cfif getLastInfo.recordCount GT 0 AND
    Trim(getLastInfo.userType) EQ "tutor">
    <cfset stat = "/images/docArchive.jpg">
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    <cfoutput>var #toScript(getLastInfo, "asIcon",
    True)#;</cfoutput>
    </script>
    <cfelseif getLastInfo.viewerID EQ session.tutorID>
    <cfset stat = "/images/docNew.jpg">
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    <cfoutput>var #toScript(getLastInfo, "asIcon",
    True)#;</cfoutput>
    </script>
    <cfelse>
    <cfset stat = "Green">
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    <cfoutput>var #toScript(getLastInfo, "asIcon",
    True)#;</cfoutput>
    </script>
    </cfif>
    Any ideas on how to get this working is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

  • How to combine multiple queries!

    I know this is pretty basic, but I'm confused. Basically, I need to extract all data for a given entity from a highly normalized database. There are probably 2 dozen tables which contain data for a given entity that must be queried. However, rather than constructing one single query that merges all of the tables together to come up with one huge rowset/row format, how could I query each table seperately and combine the results of each query into one XML file? Can I create a clob with the first query and then append subsequent queries to that clob? Not sure what to do, and I can't find any good examples.
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks, but I don't think that's quite what I'm looking for. In a nutshell, this is what I'm doing and this is the problem I'm having:
    1. I set a string equal to a query.
    2. I use xmlgen.getxml to fetch the xml into a clob.
    3. I parse the clob into a DOMDocument.
    The problem occurs with multiple queries. If I follow this same process for 5 different queries, then I have 5 instances of a DOMDocument, each holding a different queries XML. Now, can I put them together? I tried xmldom.makeNode for each DOMDocument, but the nodes are associated with the Document from which they came. I tried cloning each node to disassociate from it's Document, but that didn't seem to work. Even if it did, and I got all of the nodes together, I kept getting a java.lang.ClassCastException for trying xmldom.makeDocument for a node. I'm lost. How can I combine the results of multiple queries into a single DOMDocument instance? It was suggested that use xmlgen.getXML to get multiple queries into multiple CLOBS, then essentially combine the CLOBS together, and finally parse into a DOMDocument as a last step, but that doesn't really leverage DOMs capabilities. At this point, I may have to go down that road...

  • Multiple Queries in a workbook in 2004s

    Hello folks,
    I am currently working on a report rendering strategy for BI 7.0 2004s installation for our organization. While exploring the various options provided by the system, I notice a whole lot of new look to the Bex Analyzer in 7.0. In the earlier version there used to be options to insert multiple queries in a single workbook, but in the new version , I don't seem to see this as an option. Has this feature been taken out or is there another way that I am missing to do this ?
    Are there any how to's for the new Bex Analyzer ?
    I appreciate your response ...
    Thanks

    Nikki,
         All I did was...
         - Inserted an analysis grid in the design mode at the bottom of the first query.
         - Assigned a new query by creating a new data provider in the grid properties.
         - Once I exited the design mode, the new query got refreshed.
    Try using a different query for the new one and see if you are still getting that critical error.
    Sadly, I am getting the same critical error since this morning when I tried to open the workbooks with multiple queries that I created earlier without any problem. I am investigating in the same direction, keep me posted if you get this solved.

  • Multiple queries in a workbook and final result

    Hi All,
    Is there any way Bw can handle the below.
    I have a workbook with 2 queries:
    1. Total sales by employee
    2. The monthly budget for this employee
    I want to put the total sales and budget from each query in sheet 3 of my workbook.  Can BW handle this.  I'm thinking a macro could handle this, but was hoping BW could.  Any advice.
    Thanks.

  • Inserting Multiple queries into a workbook

    Hi Friends,
    I have to insert multiple queries into a workbook and each query should be in a different worksheet of the work book.
    I have gone thru some of the SAP documentation, for example http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3a/89883989676778e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
    In above link under the fatures section it says
    If you want to insert a query into the active workbook:
    Open a workbook and, from the BEx toolbar, choose Tools ® Insert Query.... The query is then inserted into the current worksheet starting at the active cell
    But when i chech in the tools under desig tools, i have lot of options like insert grid,insert checbox, radio button extc, but i dont have "Insert query".
    I am using BI7 Bex analyazer, The Only way i am able to insert a new query into a work sheet using BI7 is that first i have to design the work sheet but including design elemenst in my case i am using Grid. But this is not giving the correct display.
    Did anyone insert multiple queries in the same workbook? if you can you please let me know how did u acheive this?.
    Thanks in adv.
    Regards
    BN

    Hi Rajesh,
    Thanks for your response, but in BI7 Bex analyser you dont have the option of insert query from tools.
    Rather what i did is (maynot be the correct way), i have executed the query and saved it as work book and in the tools there is an option "copy Sheet". If you select this the same layout is copied to the 2nd sheet, there just change the assignment of design items to a new Dataprovider. Attach the new query to the new Dataprovider.
    It works for me, as of now
    But i have  questions regarding selection screen.
    1. In this work book i am embbeding 6 queries and each query individually has variables. When i execute the workbook i get the selection screen, in the selection screen all the common variables are shown in one grouping and other in a different grouping. Is this correct way of selection screen display?.
    2. I want to see the variable screen every time i open the work book, how can i acheive this?.

  • Multiple Queries in Workbook - Refresh Screen Shows Up for Every Query

    We have multiple queries in a workbook.  All of these queries have the exact same selections for the variable selection screen.  When all the queries are refreshed once, the selection screen used to show up once and all the queries are refreshed with the same selections.
    We were on BI 7.0 and SP10.  We recently moved to SP12.  Since the SP12 installation, the multiple query refresh pops-up the selection screen for every query.  It is nothing like "multiple query refresh" at once since the user has to click "execute" button for every single query.  It is interesting to note that the selection screen only contains hierarchy variables and hierarchy node variables.  The other variables of selection screen do not show up.  I couldn't find any OSS note on this topic.  Please let me know if anyone has any comments on this issue.  I will assign points to useful posts.

  • How to embed multiple queries in single workbook

    Hi,
               I am working in BI 7.0 environment. My requirement is
    1) I have 6 different SD queries.
    2) I need to create workbook out of each query.
    3) I need to embed workbook created from each query into a single work book (each worksheet in workbook should have workbook created from 1single query).
    This way the final workbook will have six work sheets with six different queries (all saved as workbooks).
    Can anyone please give me an idea to create the workbook.
    We are latest version of Excel.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Padma,
       You can embed multiple queries in a workbook.Please follow below steps.
    1. Open the query in a Bex analyzer (first query)
    2. Go to second tab and select a cell and insert anlaysis item (second icon on the Bex Toolbar)
    3. Right click and assign query to the data provider.
    4. Goto next tab and insert analysis item for third query . Similarly you can insert many queries but embedding multiple queries will degrade performace.
    5. Goto workbook settings (last icon in Bex tool bar) for workbook properties like refresh workbook on open. pop up variable screen on refresh etc.
    Also please go thru below links .

  • Single report with multiple queries OR multiple reports with single query

    Hello Experts,
    I have a confusion regarding Live Office connection for many days. I asked many people but did not get a concrete answer. I am re-posting this question here and expecting an answer this time.
    The product versions that I am using are as follows:
    FrontEnd:
      BOE XI 3.1 SP4 FP 4.1
      Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 SP4
    Backend:
      SAP BW 7.0 EHP1
    I have created a dashboard which is getting data from a webi report using LO connections.
    The webi report has five report parts which are populated by five different queries.
    Now my question is, when the five LO connections are refreshed, is the webi report refreshed five times or just once?
    If the report is refreshed five times, then I guess it is better to have five different webi reports containing single report part, because in that way we can prevent same query being executed multiple times.
    SO what is the best practice- to have a single report having multiple queries - OR - to create multiple webi reports with single query?
    Thanks and Regards,
    PASG

    HI
    I think Best Practice is Multiple reports with single query
    Any way If LO connections refresh 5 time the query will refresh 5 timesRegards
    Venkat

    For connecting a form with multiple queries you can create several transitions from your form to the input ports of the queries. You need a button in your form with the submit event. Select each transition from your form to the queries and rename the event to *submit. You need the asterisk for sending the data to all queries.

    Hi,
    Batching is not supported for custom document. You need to enqueue your message one by one into B2B. If you want to batch them together, you will need to write a script to concat them together after the messages have been translated into native EANCOM format.
