Header in Command prompt

String ParseBat= "cmd /c start C:\\temp\\ps.bat \"" + file +"\" \""+logfile+"\""; From the above window C:\temp\ps.bat "InputFilename" "LogFilename" gets displayed as a header to cmd. But I do not want this to be displayed. Could anyone please tell me how do I do this.

Did you try to run "start /?" and read it's output? There is something about title...

  • Unchanging header in command prompt window

    I didn't really know where to ask this. I'm writing a text-based adventure game, like Zork. And in Zork and most games like this, there is a header(or whatever you want to call it) at the top of the window that displays information relevant to the game (location, score, #moves, etc.). As new text is displayed and the old text moves up, the header stays at the top and doesn't move. And I was just wondering how I could do this in Java.

And I was just wondering how I could do this in Java.My understanding is he wants something that will look like a command prompt to display game info. First of all you understanding is not correct. I don't know why this is so difficult for you to grasp. Based on your other thread you are obviously not an idiot but why you are persisting in advice for a solution that the OP _clearly does not want_ is beyond me.
    Here is why I am right and you are wrong.
    1) The title of this thread is "Unchanging header in command prompt window " Note the "command prompt window" part. The OP says in the subject what they are looking for and no Swing or other GUI components are in any way implied by that.
    2) The first post says "I'm writing a text-based adventure game," which again is an indication. Now by itself it could mean a few things but in light again of "command prompt window" it's pretty clear what the OP is asking for.
    3) And this is a big one so please pay attention. You offered advice in reply #1 assuming the OP wanted a GUI. Now again based on 1 and 2 I think it's reasonable for you to have known that that wasn't wanted but whatever you gave some advice. And the OP returned and said in reply #2 "No, what I need relates specifically to the command prompt." I honestly don't know how either the OP or I could be any clearer than that. No, not GUI. Wants something that works "specifically to the command prompt"
    I mean really. This is very clear. The OP does not want to use Swing components_ .
    I am not "forcing" the OP into any decision. If the OP decides to use Swing great. If they decide not to, also fine with me. I couldn't care less either way frankly. But I, and I alone, am giving the OP the only correct advice in this thread based on what the OP has clearly stated several times that they are looking for.
    I have no idea why you are arguing with me. I don't know why you insist on saying that I am wrong, or implying that I am forcing the OP down a road they don't want to go. Your reply after my first reply with "And i don't quite agree with the previous post. " was a mistake. You were wrong. You are wrong. Just move on.

  • Silent installation for FMW products command prompt stuck!!

    Hi All,
    I am working on silent installation of Oracle FMW components, I am using the response file approach and Oracle Universal Installer. The aim is to integrate these installation commands to continuous integration tools like Jenkins/ControlTier.
    When the installation finishes, the current shell still holds the prompt. I need to press ENTER to get out. The problem If I integrate them with this tools their flow does not end up, as command prompt does not return. In addition to that I need the returned execution status (echo $?) for evaluating the process.
    I have tried launching it in background but did not work, any ideas ?
    They say, silent does not require user interaction still we have to press ENTER to exit the console (silent + GUI).
    Please suggest.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Create theme path using Command prompt & telnet?

    Hey guys I want my SMP to display linksheets. I have the latest firmware installed. I have been successfully running GBBM off of a usb (using the latest wdlxtv firmware) & my linksheets display fine. However, some films stutter & pause when using wdlxtv (they play fine when I unplug the usb stick & run the official firmware). So my aim is to change the theme path so that GBBM is booted from my usb stick & I can display linksheets but I will be using the official firmware. I have been following this guide found on the forum: http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Streaming/Getting-around-the-30MB-theme-limit-and-repointing-the-SMP-to/td-p/631463 After attempting to set the theme path I reboot my SMP but it is still at the default theme.
    When I look under 'appearance', it states my theme path that I entered in Command Prompt.
    I think that I may be entering the theme path slightly wrong.
    My USb is identified as: /tmp/media/usb/USB210/4489-F8EA
    The folder that I created on my USB was: wdtv_themes
    So I assumed my theme path would be: config_tool -c THEME_PATH=/tmp/media/usb/USB210/4489-F8EA.wdtv_themes
    However, this doesn't seem to work.
    Any help?

    this is all over my head, but KAD79 is about the only person that could help you with this but i did notice one thing, the path is missing a missing forward slash ?   bird06 wrote:

    Hi kbzone,
    ... there should difinitely be no sparks  ) I recommend that you start with checking the wiring ... is the computer connected to earth, is the amplifier? Are they connected via the same power socket? Are you sure that the amplifier is OK?
    Then, will it be possible to have any sound from the card if the amplifier is not used? You can try removing cards, uninstalling drivers and then re-install ...
    It is well possible that by now you have damaged your soundcard, btw

  • Command prompt issue from VBscript

    So I have this script that works perfectly for parsing out a COM number and then sending data to said COM port via the command line (things like 'ipconfig > //./COM15'). The issue is that it only works when I use the /K modifier which tells the command
    windows to stay open.  I don't want them to stay open, but whenever I remove the /K, it doesn't work. Nothing gets copied to the COM port. I suspect the cause of this is the command prompt closing before things like systeminfo can finish running. So is
    there a way to have the command prompt window stay open for a short amount of time and then close?
    'Part 1: FindCOM port
    fileName = "C:\rtlstuff\COM.txt"
    Set regex = New RegExp

    Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Set file = fso.OpenTextFile(fileName)
    text = file.ReadAll()
    file.Close

    Set matches = regex.Execute(text)
    For Each m In matches
    ComPort = m.SubMatches(0)
    Next

  • Unable to run discoverer report from command prompt

    Hi,
    I'm trying to run the discoverer report from command prompt and i need to schedule the same.
    How could i pass multiple values for the parameters?
    If i don't pass the optional parameters, the parameter screen is getting pop-up? How to skip optional parameters?
    Also, how to pass the data ranges (format for date parameters) ?
    I'm using the below command in command prompt:
    cd/d E:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\bin
    dis51usr /connect username/password@database /opendb "TIMS-PCJ status Report" /sheet "TIMS observation status report (based on performed date)" /parameter "Test Number" 40351 /parameter "From Date" "01-JAN-2007" /parameter "To Date" "28-FEB-2007" /parameter "Observation Status" C /parameter "Observation Name" "Abdominal Girth" /export HTML "C:\DISCOVERER_REPORT_SCHEDULING\DIS_OUTPUT\PCJStatusOutput11"
    Any one please reply me. Its very urgent.
    Regards,
    Sreedhar

    Hi,
    How could i pass multiple values for the parameters? You should be able to use a comma separated list e.g.
    /parameter "Observation Name" "'Abdominal Girth','Abdominal Girth2'"
    How to skip optional parameters?I don't think you can. You have to supply all parameters and then decode out the parameters you don't need in the workbook.
    how to pass the data ranges You cannot pass a date range. You can pass a start and end parameters. The default format for the date parameters is DD-MON-YYYY but this can change depending on the NLS settings and format of the data item.

    However, when trying to use the oscdimg command, I do get an .iso successfully, but when I burn it, I don't know what to do in the way of boot options, and if I keep defaults (imgburn)
    it results in an un-bootable dvd.
    Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Don't copy and paste instead type manually it will work.

    OMG! Yes, you are correct ... but I have no idea why! I retyped the command line:
    oscdimg -n -be:\winpe_amd64\etfsboot.com e:\winpe_amd64\ISO e:\winpe_amd64\winpe_amd64.iso
    into Notepad, and then pasted it into the Command Prompt, and it worked!
    Perhaps there must be some hidden characters included when pasting directly, even though I first pasted the command line into Notepad, and then into Command Prompt
    (C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools>).
    I had to retype the command line in Notepad before copying and pasting, before it would work.
    Wow, thanks!

  • How to run a program as an administrator from within a non-elevated command prompt?

    I have a project that is going to be running on a kiosk, and the user that is running the kiosk software is going to be restricted.  I have an alternate administrator account, but I cannot seem to figure out how to open my program running as this administrator
    user.  I have tried to use runas, like so:
    runas /user:admin kiosk.exe
    However, when I try to run this command, it asks me for the password of the administrator account and my program doesn't open correctly.  It fails to open at all.  If I change the run as to a start command, then the program executes fine so its
    not a problem with my software.
    Is there a way to pass a password parameter to runas so that it will not prompt for the password every time?  If there is not, can someone think of another way for me to elevate my process to administrator without being logged in as one through the
    command prompt?

    Hi KevinGEAR,
    You want to allow the others without the administrator`s level to run this software and  meanwhile the administrator is not logged in, right?
    Here is an alternative solution :
    1.To work with this solution, a built-in administrator account should be enabled and meanwhile you can create a standard account. The built-in administrator account is different from the administrator account you created.
    To enable built-in administrator account:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/3040.enable-disable-the-local-hidden-built-in-administrator-account-in-windows-7.aspx
    2. Use the following code
    runas /user:ComputerName\Administrator /savecred "Full path to program's exe file"

  • How do i get sql plus to start in something other than command prompt?

    I have just installed oracle 11g enterprise addition. I am use to a different type of editor for the sql plus, the one I am use to comes up in a white area and has drop downs for file, tools, spool, help and so on. You can also open notepad with a shortcut. I like this better than command prompt how do i get this?

    I think you mean sqlplusw.exe which is a Windows executable delivered until Oracle 10.2 but no more delivered with Oracle 11g.
    Mayb you can have a look to SQL Developer http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/sql/index.html

  • How to print pdf file in SQL Server Reporting services report using command prompt?

    Is there a way to automatically print a SQL Server Reporting services report on command prompt? For eg: We can save a pdf file using rs.exe utility. I want to print a pdf using rs.exe utility. Is it possible? I don't want to install any 3rd party software.

    Thanks Simon for replying to my question.
    In oracle form, there is oracle command to print the report from command prompt with the help of rwrun.exe
    e.g: rwrun.exe   REPORT="D:\Test\REP_25\MLA.REP" DESNAME="testprinter" DESTYPE="PRINTER" P_FORMNAME="MLA.FMX" P_SPRACHE="E" P_SPRACHE_NR2="1" P_WHERE_BEDINGUNG="order by land_nr" USERID="test/test.world" PSV_NAME="PSV_DEMO" PSV_JOB_ID="PS$9583" RECURSIVE_LOAD="NO"
    BATCH="YES" NONBLOCKSQL="NO" ARRAYSIZE="1" PARAMFORM="NO" ERRFILE="c:\temp\psv16.tmp"<
    and to save the report we just need to change DESNAME="c:\temp\OC_100001349.pdf" DESTYPE="FILE" in above command instead of DESNAME="testprinter" DESTYPE="PRINTER".
    DESNAME and DESTYPE are the input parameters of the respective report.
    In SSRS, we can run the file from the command prompt and save it.
    rs -i "C:\Users\pujarswa\Documents\reports\new\LoadReport.rss" -s ww2004760:80/ReportServer_MSSQL -v fileName="C:\Users\pujarswa\Desktop\TipsReportLoad.pdf"
    -v reportPath="/TipsReport/LoadListTabular" -t -v format="PDF" -v LandNr=4 -u ap\swati -p test@# -e Exec2005
    But we cannot use same command for printing as you said we need to create another script for printing files.
    I have gone through the links but I dont want to use Adobe Acrobat Reader exe for printing because client it may not have Adobe Acrobat Reader on their machine.
    Also I want to pass a input parameter as type="Printer" to my report which will print directly for me and same I can acheive in command prompt passing type="Printer" fileName="C:\Users\pujarswa\Desktop\TipsReportLoad.pdf"

  • I have an hp p3005dn printer. how can i print to "lpt1" in command prompt mode. win 7.

    I am trying to get my printer so I can print to it from "Command Prompt".  I have done the "Port" thing to allow Windows to accept "LPT1" as an alternate printer spool name.  I know there are a command or two that are required in Command Prompt itself, but I do not know them.  Can anybody help with the commands required in Command Prompt.
    Thanks

    Hello Greenwood Newton HS,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    For more information on this, take a look at:
    Troubleshooting printer issues in OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3147
    Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
    If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • How can I pass a value to the command prompt?

    I was wondering how can I pass a value to the command prompt with Windows and Linux? I'm more interested in Linux's system than Windows though. Is there a way to return info from the command prompt?

    Here is a snippet from http://mindprod.com/jglossexec.html that explains how in detail.
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("myprog.exe") will spawn an external process that runs in parallel with the Java execution. In Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, you must use an explicit *.exe or *.com extension on the parameter. It is also best to fully qualify those names so that the system executable search path is irrelevant, and so you don't pick up some stray program off the path with the same name.
    To run a *.BAT, *.CMD, *.html *.BTM or URL you must invoke the command processor with these as a parameter. These extensions are not first class executables in Windows. They are input data for the command processor. You must also invoke the command processor when you want to use the < > | piping options, Here's how, presuming you are not interested in looking at the output:
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("cmd.exe /E:1900 /C MyCmd.cmd" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("C:\\4DOS601\\4DOS.COM /E:1900 /C MyBtm.btm" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("D:\\4NT301\\4NT.EXE /E:1900 /C MyBtm.btm" );
    There are also overloaded forms of exec(),
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat", null);
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat", null, "C:\\SomeDirectory");
    The second argument can be a String [], and can be used to set environment variables. In the second case, "C:\\SomeDirectory" specifies a directory for the process to start in. If, for instance, your process saves files to disk, then this form allows you to specify which directory they will be saved in.
    Windows and NT will let you feed a URL string to the command processor and it will find a browser, launch the browser, and render the page, e.g.
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com http://mindprod.com/projects.html" );
    Another lower level approach that does not require extension associations to be quite as well set up is:
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler http://mindprod.com/projects.html" );
    Note that a URL is not the same thing as a file name. You can point your browser at a local file with something like this: file://localhost/E:/mindprod/jgloss.html or file:///E|/mindprod/jgloss.html.
    Composing just the right platform-specific command to launch browser and feed it a URL to display can be frustrating. You can use the BrowserLauncher package to do that for you.
    Note that
    rundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler file:///E|/mindprod/jgloss.html
    won't work on the command line because | is reserved as the piping operator, though it will work as an exec parameter passed directly to the rundll32.exe executable.
    With explicit extensions and appropriately set up associations in Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP you can often bypass the command processor and invoke the file directly, even *.bat.
    Similarly, for Unix/Linux you must spawn the program that can process the script, e.g. bash. However, you can run scripts directly with exec if you do two things:
    Start the script with #!bash or whatever the interpreter's name is.
    Mark the script file itself with the executable attribute.
    Alternatively start the script interpreter, e.g.
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec (new String[]{"/bin/sh", "-c", "echo $SHELL"}";

  • Running a GUI application without holding command prompt

    Hi there ,
    I have developed a GUI application using Swing. After compiling the same successfully , when I run the same , presently , I am running it like ,
    c:\> java xxx
    where c:\ is the general command prompt on a Windows machine where I can type in my commands like javac or java and xxx is the class file name . Now till I complete using my GUI application and exit from the same , the command prompt will also be there ( and probably displaying the output of my System.out.println ) . So , two sessions are running , one is just the command prompt and another is the actual GUI application.
    How can I avoide this ? e.g. when I type command "notepad" and press enter , notepad is started and the command prompt returns after starting notepad i.e. the notepad and the command prompt are not related now , I can close the command intrepreter and still notepad is running . What should I do to create such a Java GUI application ? Please advice .

    If I understand you correctly this is something that happens in linux also. And I believe that you can solve this by creating to shortcut to this program.
    And the shortcut or link to application will be the command line that you use to run the Java Application.
    i.e.
    java c:\javadir\subjavadir\application.class
    And I believe that this will allow it to run without the command prompt. Just showing the GUI and no additional command prompt window. Freeing the command prompt is something that I don't know how to do in either OS.
    I use the Link To Application method because I ultimately don't need to have multiple windows for one application. Even though it is nice to be able to kill the Application by destroying the command-prompt session (in case your app causes lock-ups during testing).
    Post your results . . . I'm not even sure that I'm being clear at all with my explanation to your question.
