Hello friends!I use mac book(2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo).is it worth updating to snow leopard and then lion?if so how to do so?
Hello I use mac book 2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo.Is it worth updating to latest version like snow leopard and then Lion or buying new mac air?
regards
Clayton.
Well, it depends on what you expect it to do and if it works as expected - it that answer is yes, I'd say make sure you max out the RAM (I've noticed Snow Leopard needs more). Doing it this way gives you a machine which will run 2 different OS versions - on the other hand, depending on when you'd buy the MBA, you may only be able to run Lion (unless you buy that quickly as well while they still come with SL).

Apple keep telling me I need to update to icloud but I'm not sure if Lion will work on my Mac. I've upgraded to snow leopard which seems to have knackered my .me or .mac account (whatever it's called now), so I don't seem to have any option but to upgrade to Lion if I every want to see my emails again.
Apple say I must have a Intel Core 2 processor for Lion to work...... at least I think that's what they say.
I have a mac book pro, 2006 with an 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, can I update to Lion?Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
If you have a Core Duo model then you cannot upgrade to Lion. You can upgrade to Snow Leopard, but iCloud is not available for Snow Leopard.
Open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. Look for the Model ID in the displayed information. If you have a MacBookPro 2,1 or later then you have a Core 2 Duo model and can upgrade to Lion. -

My mac book pro 2.3ghz intel core i7 will not start up. I get the apple and the circle thing but thats it. Please help!!!
Give this a try:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -
I'm using iTunes 10.6.1 on an iMac 2,66 Ghz intel core Duo with8GB DDR3 and Lion 10.7.3 I have 260000 mp3 stored on a My Book 3 TB external fire wire 800 Drive - when I play songs I get short interruptions every 20 to 30 seconds. Can't iTunes handle that number of songs?

Bought and installed a new battery for my Mac Book Pro 5.1, intel Core 2 dual, the computer makes a lot of engine noise! The noise disappears in sleep mode. What can be done?
I bought it from Other World Computer last week for $95. 3rd party, I suppose.

Can mac book,2.2 Gh Intel Core 2 Duo, be upgraded to loin or yosemite
Can mac book,2.2 Gh Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MH ,
be upgraded to loin or yosemiteIt can only be upgraded to Lion; you should install more RAM first. Click here and order a download code for it.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

I just upgraded my MAC from OSX 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard and then to Mountain Lion 10.8.2. When I try to access my Microsoft Office for MAC (2004 edition) files I am getting a message "can't open Office because Power PC applications are no longer supported. How can I access all of my save Word documents? I just want to be able to retrieve all of my documents that were in Microsoft Office for Mac (2004). If I purchase the newest version of MS office for Mac from Apple will I be able to retrieve my old documents?
Use any number of free alternatives to your nearly decade old version of MS Office.
Consider
LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice (free)
OpenOffice (free)
In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for years. Life is better without Microsoft. -

Bummer.
Not a bummer. What is wrong with the OS you are now using?
If it Ain't broken don't try to fix it.
Be Happy you don't have to deal with all the changes and inconsistencies that Lion has created between it and older Mac OSs -
My Mac has an 1.86 Intel Core Duo, does that mean I can't get Lion?
My Mac has a 1.86 Intel Core Duo, which is not listed for use with Lion, but I'm wondering how if it would work anyway. Just replaced the harddrive recently, and it otherwise meets our needs, don't want to upgrade, but want to use ICloud. Any thoughts?
It won't work at all. Lion will not allow you to install on a Core Duo because Lion requires a 64-bit processor. Your computer is only 32-bit. You can either sell your computer or give it away and buy a newer model.
