Help duplicating a field on the same page.

Hello,
I am trying to create a form which reads up wright but when placed sideways in a filing cabinet, a duplicate text field shows the file name that was entered in an upright field. Basically, typing the name into the field once and having that field dictate or duplicate itself in another field on the same page. Your help is appreciated
I am using acrobat 9 professional.

Just give the fields the same name and set the orientation of the upright field to 90 degrees:

Mandatory fields on the same page with dependent LOVs

Hi,
I am working on an ADF-BC application using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4
I have an ADF Creation form with dependent LOVs and while implementing dependent LOVs we set the autoSubmit property of the selectOneChoiceListBox as true.
If I have some mandatory fields on the same page then because of the autoSubmit property set as true whenever I select a value in the list the page gets submitted and the mandatory fields give an error that the values are required therefore I had to remove the mandatory fields.
I tried using f:subview but even that dint serve the purpose because what I want is something like partialSubmit so that my mandatory fields do no give an error when I select a value in the list.
Can somebody help me on this, how to have a dependent list and mandatory fields on the same page.
P.S: It is very crucial for my application

Hello,
This bug has been around since 10.1.3, its even still present in Trinidad and now in 11.
One of the ways to avoid is to make your fields use:
showRequired="true"instead of
required="true"I have not found a decent way to avoid this in general.
My idea was that this shiould be possible with a phaselistener and determine if this is a partial page event instead of a normal submit, but this didnt work.

I believe the OP has a question similar to mine...
I have several groups, and the master for each group is only one line, and the detail is between 1 and five lines, like so:
A
A1
A2
B
B1
C
C1
C2
C3
...The problem is, sometimes only the master record gets printed at the bottom of the page, and then the detail is printed at the top of the next page. I don't need each group on it's own page. I just want to be sure that if the detail can't fit on the page with the master, then I want the master to only print on the next page.
Can you help with this?

How to create a field in an OAF page which sums two fields in the same page.

In the HRMS appraisal page, I have two fields in different regions.
1. One field shows the total score of the competencies.
2. Another field shows the total scores of the objectives.
The problem with the appraisal total score is it returns only the rating level id. (It does not take decimal values)
Hence I want to add the above two fields which is displayed in the same page and show as a new field in the top of the page as the final appraisal score.
[Something similar to what is mentioned in the metalink document 1315431.1 ]
We are in 11.5.10.2.
I am new to OAF and have no idea as to how to achieve the above step. Can anyone guide me in doing it?

Went through the steps to do a VO substitution.
But normally in all the examples given the page will belong to the application where we are modifying.
Eg. in this case the "about this page" shows /oracle/apps/fnd/wf/worklist/webui/NotifDetailsPG
This is coming under fnd top where all the appraisal VOs and other pages comes under PER_TOP.
Should I bring all the files from FND_TOP of the server to my PC where jdev is installed.
I have already taken all the files under $PER_TOP to my PC.

How to cause a button to compute a text field on the same page?

I have a button called "Generate Hash" and I want to have it compute a text field and display it on the same page with the results of a simple sql query:

Nope - not hard at all. Create a Process on your page that says:
:Pxxx_HASH_VALUE := 'P'||substr(Sys_guid(),1,10);
Then in the Condition portion of the Process, Set the section labeled "When Button Pressed (Process After Submit When this Button is Pressed)" equal to the button you wish to use for the compute.

2 Classic Reports with edit fields on the same page

Hi All, need your help.
I am trying to have 2 classic reports on one page with edit fields like date, list values, text
I have noticed that the element indexes are the same f01_0001 have both first elements from both reports.
This is making my code go crazy.
Also i have a problem with Date Picker, if i select it as a column type for a first element in second report the icon shows up in the first report.
I think this is because of indexing, but... Classic Date Picker put the icon on second report but when i select the date, the values is populated to first column in first report
Does anyone have a solution for this problem! (for example change the indexing for second report)
DB is 11.2g
Apex is 4.2.0.00.27

           I am working on a form which is designed by some one else . There is a Page - 8 . And there is a question at the first which is in another subform.
           At the end there are several radio buttons . If some one is clicked as yes then the focus should be on Question which is present at the beginning of the form.
My code goes like this .

How to keep vertically arranged fields to print on the same page?

Hello,
my report contains fields that are vertically arranged. I want the report to print all the fields on the same page and not if the page is too small at the end that the half of the fields are printed on one page and the rest on the next page. But there should be more than one data sets on one page (it is no solution to generally make a page break before the fields - it only concerns the end of a page).
Is there a printing mechanism to anchor fields together?

1. Are these vertically arranged fields within the same group? If so, you can try right click on the Group section, Select Change Group, and then Go to Option Tab and select Change Group together.
2. Otherwise, if you want to fit certain amount of rows into one page, then you can write your own running total and Set New Page when that running total reach eg: 20 rows.

i dont think there should be any specific reasons for this.
coz it has worked out for me for upload of 4 files in a
single page
but still try the following:
1. set the filename variables to null before assigning the
serverfile name to it.
2. try not to use the reserved words as variable
names,Clientfile is a reserved word.

How to make fields grow dynamically within the same page and in column wise

Like the newspaper format: Where contents of news are shown columns wise.
We need to make the fields in a page grow column wise within that same page.
For example, in a page:

If the Column 2 is also full then only it should move to the next page and should continue the same scenario.
Please suggest a better way to do this in the Adobe Output Designer.

Hi Gurunath, if you steel need a solution on this problem, I think this could help:
1- place two fields on the form (JF01, JF02), one under each other.
2- Make two subform with them (Sline1, Sline2)
3- Make the field JF02 expand on same subform.
4- Modify the preamble in this way:
^define group:D_line1 \field$POSITION\reserve"0.333",in\subformSline1.\positionsave,"first_line"
^define group:JF01!OnOverflow \groupG_Sline2.\fieldJF02.
^define group:G_Sline2!OnBOF \positionrestore,"first_line"\positionright,"3.65",in
In the data file put all the text in JF01.
-The first line say:
When JF01 is called, save it's y position (\positionsave,"first_line")
-The second line means:
when the text overflow JF01 put it in JF02.
(cause JF02 overflow on itself all the remaining data is overflowed in JF02)
-The third line means:
if JF02 arrives at the end of the page (OnBOF), restore the saved position ( \positionrestore,"first_line") and move to the right of "3,65" inches (\positionright,"3.65",in).
In other words, when JF02 arrive at the and of the age, the next field JF02 is positioned at the same height of JF01 and is shifted on the right
Take care that in this way JF02 cannot anymore go o a new page.

This is what i want to do...
I need a profile form for my project wherein the user can update his profile.
it has a username field. I want the username to be changeable at any point of time.
if the user wishes to change his username he simply goes to the Change_Profile page (the one im talking about) and changes it.
But the username should not conflict with the username that any other member might have already chosen
so i put a button on the form right below the field "username" for the user to check for the username's availability.
I want the following things to happen when the user types a username and clicks on this button (which is not a submit button)
1. I want to access my MS SQL 2000 server database and check for all usernames accepted by that form
2. I want to compare each with this username
3. I want to show the result to the user on the very same page+*. that is "Username available" or "Username Taken"
4. I want to show the result using an alert message from javascript+*

1. Don't do SELECT * FROM users for fun unless you want to list them all to the client.
2. Use a WHERE clause in your query and just check if it returns zero rows or not.
3. Let the servlet with the business logic forward the request to the same page using RequestDispatcher.
4. Let the JSP print the Javascript code to the response based on a condition.

You certainly are not following my work flow - that is the info window in the main iPhoto window
I said (steps numbers for ease of following my work flow)
1 - Simply select the photo and
2 - print,
3 - select the printer,
4 - Select the paper size and
5 - select a print size (keep the image ratio in mind so you do not get unwanted cropping) that will fit the required number of photos on the page with small borders - you have to do the math - and
6 - if the preview does not show multiples of the same photo click customize,
6 a - click settings and
6 b - select multiples of the same photo on a page -
the preview will reflect this selection - and
7 - print

Can you try like this
1.First create an empty page and add a html region and template as form region and add the necessary fields to insert into table
2. create a another region with type as "SQL Query" and template as report region and add the necessary fields for the reports.
Once u entered the details into form region and created process and insert into table and then automatically the report region query will fetch the recently added row and displays in the report.

Multiple branches to the same page

A few questions about branches...
1. Having a branch back to the same page with a 'when button pressed=Submit', another branch back to the same page with some other button-press condition, etc are all redundant, right?
It is sufficient to have just one unconditional branch back to the same page, right?
2. What is the difference between branch type 'branch to page or url' and simply 'branch to page'? Does the former cover the latter, so why do we need two types?
3. Anyway, when I choose the latter, there is a checkbox below the page number for 'branch to page using redirect'. What does this mean?
4. I have always seen the 'On submit: after processing' branch point being used. When would the other branch points be used?

That would cover all the cases. Each page process can then check for whatever conditions it needs?Ummm, you say "Right" to my rebuttal and then you restate your original premise -- that logic eludes me. Let me offer this: Ponder my question, exactly as I wrote it, and consider self-submitting items, tabs, javascript, fields that submit the page when you hit Enter, etc., then it might make more sense. You seem to be implying that a "direct branch" is not really desirable in most cases? Why? (I guess your answer to my question above will clear this up for me)Well, they're usually not the best choice. You end up with "wwv_flow.accept" in the browser location window after the branch and using the browser's back button to go back to those requests gives you that annoying "page contains POSTDATA" message. Those branches can be useful if you want to stay in the same database session for page processing (after submit) and the subsequent page view, such as in the case of inline validation errors where package state is maintained. I did. Lets take them 1 by one
a. On submit, before computation: The docs say this is to be used for a Cancel button. But wouldnt a javascript:document.form.reset() do the same thing?A Cancel button that submits the page does just that, it submits the page, allowing session state to be saved and any logic on the page to be performed before the correct branch is taken. You ask whether that javascript would do the same thing. The same thing as what, the Cancel button? No!
b. on load before header: "...displays another page instead of the current page...". But then why wouldnt I just create a branch of some other branch point with that "another page number" in the first place?Because sometimes it's better for page X to decide to go to page Y before doing much of anything than for N callers of page X to make the same determination.
I guess I am having difficulty understanding the concept of a "branch point". As you said elsewhere, a branch doesnt contain any logic, it doesnt call anything, it just branches to some page/url.Where did I say that?
So, why have all these different branch points? What advantage does having this fine degree of control provide us? I think you'll find, over time, that all features
in HTML DB are there for a good reason. The developers found a need for them developing real applications. Where capabilities were missing, features were invented and added,
where features seemed useless, they were dropped/deprecated. The tool you see today has been evolving for years. I think it's unreasonable to expect to be able to
appreciate the value of every single feature until you've been using HTML DB for a couple of years.
