Help for conditional formatting of a chart query!!!!!

Dear Gurus,
can Anyone give me a step by step for conditional formatting on the chart?
I want my charts in my queries to be for example:
green color when actual data <= version,
Yellow if actual > version & 101%, red if actual >=101%.
Thank You very much for sharing your Knowledge.

Hi Des,
You can achieve this through exceptional reporting. Choose your query & execute the report. click on the 'Exceptions & Conditions' button. create the exception you wish to have by choosing version & your key figure, in your case. when you click 'Transfer' it automatically gets activated & you can be able to view the colors set by you.
Revert back for any modifications.

• Need help on Conditional Formating

Hi All,
I have hierearchy as Region to Series and Series to Model. I have created report with following fields Actual Sales, Objective Sales, % of Objective by Region. My requirement is i need to draw a line 100% Objective in chart and need to show the %of Objective values in Green when >=100% and in Red when < 100%.
Am able to see the above conditional formating at the Region level properly. When am drilling from one particular region to Series level conditional formating is not applying.
Any suggestions to achieve above formating will be appreciated.
Regards,
Rajkumar.

Hi Rajkumar,
nice one. :)
First part of the solution: you need to make it yourself a little bit easier by adding an extra column and hide this column.
Add a column with the follow formula:
CASE WHEN % of Objective >= 100 THEN 'Green' ELSE 'Red' END
Second part of the solution: add a pivot table view to your report.
Put the extra column on the Rows Section. Hide it.
Then add the pivot table chart to the pivot table view. If wanted you can remove the pivot table.
Then add the conditional formatting to your chart. I would use line bar combo for this.

• Conditional formatting in the chart does not work after 10g to 11g upgrade

W e have upgraded from 10g to 11.1.1.6.8 recently. For all the reports conditional formatting for charts is not working for us which used to work in 10g.
While researching , i have found that advanced xml needs to be modified. So i changed xml where there is 'untypedLiteral' to 'decimal' and saved the report. Inspite of saving , xml wouldnt change . It still shows as untypedLiteral.
I also tried to delete the conditional format and recreate again. But still it wouldn't work.
Please advise.

• Using a function as condition for conditional formatting

Hello,
I am trying to switch from Excel to Numbers and I'm having trouble figuring out the conditional formatting in Numbers. In Excel, cell(s) can be highlighted, font changed, etc based on a function linked to another cells value. That is, cells A1:A4 can be highlighted if cell A5 has a particular value or not. I can't figure out how to do this in Numbers. Is it possible?
Thank you in advance for any help.

Sorry, I haven't had a lot of time lately. Thanks to Peggy for the link to instructions on posting pics. Thanks to Barry for his response (which I haven't explored in detail yet). Here is a pic that may explain what I'm trying to do a little more clearly.
Here's your image, pulled in with the (edited) HTML code supplied by Flickr
The editing consisted of removing everything in front of "<img". The essential difference between this code and what you used is the addition of double quotes ( " ) enclosing the whole URL (from "http: to .jpg").
Both conditions look identical, except for the cell being referenced by the formula.
Can you restate, in English, the condition under which the cell to which these rules apply would be formatted to have a dotted green fill and text in italics and with a strike through applied?
Also, to what cell is the conditional formatting applied, and what is the value in that cell?

• Help on conditionally Formatting Field in a Cross Tab

Hi all,
I like to conditionally format a number field in a cross tab, ie. on a certain column the number should show 2 decimal places, otherwise no decimal places. I have tried a formula in the Decimals of the Format Field, If {Command.COL_TITLE}= "G"
Then
2
else
0.
Column G is the one that is to display the number in 2 decimal places. The formula runs, but it never {Command.COL_TITLE}= "G" is never true, ever. COL_TITLE is the columns of the Cross Tab.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Austin

Austin,
If you are trying to format a column then try using the GridRowColumn function.
In the Customize Style tab highlight the column field and check what the alias for formula is. Then format the decimal places for the summarized field with a formula similar to the following;
If GridRowColumn("Alias for formula value") = "G" then 2 else 0

• Copy/paste style doesn't work for conditional formatting with cell refs

I created a conditional format on a cell (B3) that compares its value to the value of a cell above it (B2).
If I 'Copy Style' and paste that style into the cell beside it (C3), the conditional formatting still refers to B2. If I want to do this for a whole row of cells then I have to manually edit the cell reference in the conditional formatting for each cell.
Anyone else seen this behaviour? It makes me think of going back to Excel.

Don't know if you'd consider this a 'workaround' or simply a way to do what the OP asks with as little fuss as possible.
I created a conditional format on a cell (B3) that compares its value to the value of a cell above it (B2).
If I 'Copy Style' and paste that style into the cell beside it (C3), the conditional formatting still refers to B2...
The desire is to have each cell in row 3 formatted depending on a comparison with the cell directly above it. If each comparison is the same (eg, Equal to), and the 'true' action for each is the same (eg. Fill with yellow), the following will save some effort:
Select the whole row, B3:G3 (or further).
Set the conditional format rule to
Equal to | B2
And the action for Fill yellow.
Click Done.
With the conditional formatting dialogue still open, select C3. You may also want to move the dialogue window up to just below row 3.
Repeat these three steps:
Click on the B2 reference in the dialogue.
Click on cell C2 in the table.
Press the right arrow to move the selection to D3.
Click on the B2 reference in the dialogue.
Click on cell D2 in the table.
Press the right arrow to move the selection to E3.
etc.

• Help Regarding Conditional Formatting

Hi Gurus,
Brief background about the report, we have all the items in the inventory segregated into 3 classes "High", "Medium" and "Low" and also there is Calculated Measure called "Percent Accurate". Now we want to use Conditional Formating on the particular Item either RED or GREEN and following are the conditions to define the colour
High -> Green = 100%; Red = X<100%
Medium -> Green = X >= 98%; Red = X < 98%
Low -> Green = X >= 97%; Red = X < 97%
In the above condition the perecent refers to Percent Accurate.
How do I acheive this kind of condition.
Thanks in advance.
Chary

Hi Create a new Percent column in repository so the answers coding will be simplified.
Percent = 100.00 *( (Cycle_Count_Entries.COUNT_QUANTITY_CURRENT - Cycle_Count_Entries.SYSTEM_QUANTITY_CURRENT) / Cycle_Count_Entries.SYSTEM_QUANTITY_CURRENT )
...... or whatever your definition is
Then use a column in answers with following formula :
Case
when table.class = 'High' then
Case when table.percent = 100 then 'Green' else 'Red' end
when table.class = 'Medium' then
Case when table.percent >= 98 then 'Green' else 'Red' end
when table.class = 'Low' then
Case when table.percent >= 97 then 'Green' else 'Red' end
end
* If you do not have access to repository, replace table.percent in above formula with the percentage formula that you have.
Then your conditional formatting will be simplified as you will need to refer to only the above column.

• Help for conditional indexing in LV 2012?

Not that I need it, but I could not find any help on the new LV 2012 Conditional Indexing feature. It appears in the contextual menu, but the contextual help does not provide any hint of what this is, and it's nowhere to be found in the Help:
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Sorry it took so long to get back. I had to download LV2012. I think I still need to download the patch. And also setup all of my setting and addons. VIPM will be busy for the rest of the day.
Anyways, your benchmark is flawed. Add outputs to the arrays and you will get radically different results. I think some of your loops didn't exactly iterate the 10000 times since there was no output. And I have no clue what you were trying to show with the second benchmark.
I didn't edit the labels yet. So for those who haven't looked at the VI, "x/y" is the time for pre-allocating and keeping only what is needed. "x/y 2" is the same except with another data type. "x/y 3" is using the build array. "x/y 4" is using the new conditional indexing feature. Each one is looped 10000 times and the average is given (in ms).

Hi
I am very new to xml publisher report.. I have calculated the report total like this--
<?add-page-total:pt;'ENT_AMT'?> now i display it in a table colomn by using the syntax
<?show-page-total:pt;'#,##0.00'?>
Now what i want to do is if the value of the page total is greater than 1000 the color of that coloumn in the table will change. But by any means i cannot access the value and do the condition checking..
Plz help..
Thanks and Regards
Joydeep Mitra

Hi Mitra,
You can use this if you want to change the color of a cell:
<?if:total>1000?><xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="background-color">red
</xsl:attribute><?end if?>

• OBIEE 11g : Conditional formatting in Chart view based on different column

Hi ,
I would like to add formatting to the bars based on another column.
Ex: I just want to highlight bars(metric) when it is less than target value.
We have conditional formatting option in charts but , its working on the same column but not comparing with other columns.
Thank you..

Hi, If you have column A and column B , and for example you want the values of column A to get formatted if the the correspoding value of column B less than a specific value. You just go to Criteria -> Get to Column A -> Column Properties -> Conditional Format -> Add Condition -> Choose your Column B , and then make sure the condition is " Less than the value you want"
Now, In case you want the values of your column A to be formatted if they are less to the corresponding value of colum B, Well, I don't think it is natively integrated, but still, here is an idea :
You drag again your column B , so that in Criteria -> Selected Columns , you'll have the columns A - B - B , then, you go to the newely added B Column -> Edit Formula and modify the formula to be ColumnA Minus ColumnB.
Then go back in selected columns to your A Column -> Column Properties -> Conditional Format -> Add Condition -> Choose now the new column ( ColumnA Minus ColumnB ), and then make sure the condition is " Less than the value *0* "
You can later, go and hide the colum A Minus B from Edit View in Results.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Salma

• Conditional formatting via calculation

I have at the end of a row a checkbox.
If the checkbox is checked I would like it to highlight the row.
My thinking was along these lines:
IF (CHECKBOX = "CHECKED", BGCOLOR = "BLUE", 0)
(I know that this isn't correct Pages syntax, but I believe it explains what I would like it to do)
Is this possible in Pages?
Thanks for any input.

I repeat, searching for conditional formatting gives the response to those who read carefully.
+Use the Cells Inspector to format cell values. For example, you can display a currency symbol in cells containing monetary values.+
+You can also set up conditional formatting. For example, you can make _a cell_ red when _its value_ exceeds a particular number.+
If the feature was able to apply to a row it would state: _you can make a row_
It's why the "Conditional" item is in Inspector > Cells, not in Inspector > Table
I never saw a program stating "I apologize, I'm unable to do this or that".
For those knowing the way to read Help or user manual, the basis is that when a feature is not described, we may guess that it is unavailable.
and nowhere does it say that you can use a CHECKBOX as condition!
A rule doesn't check the kind of object used in a cell, it checks the stored value. When we use a checkbox, the stored value is TRUE or FALSE exactly as if we typed TRUE or FALSE as a text entry.
Same thing with popup menu (the value may be a string or a number)
and steppers or sliders (the value is a number).
(And YES, I did select the ENTIRE row when I created the rule)
One more time, a rule checks the contents of _a single cell_ ! This means that if a cell match the rule it apply the format to _this cell_ , if it doesn't match the rule, it doesn't apply the format to _this cell_ . It's exactly what is written.
I would like the ENTIRE ROW to fill with that color.
I'm not sure that it is a sufficient reason to have it behaving this way
_You may go to "Provide Numbers Feedback" in the "Numbers" menu_, describe what you wish.
Then, cross your fingers, and wait _at least_ for iWork'09
I assumes that you will not get satisfaction.
When we select a range of cells with several columns, this means apply the rule to every cell one by one, not apply to the entire row the format if a given cell of this row matches the rule.
How may it guess which cell of the row is the one to test ?
The only solution would be to select cells in one column and have a box in the pane allowing use to choose:
_apply the format to the cell_
or
_apply the format to the row_ .

• Can conditional formatting refer to the value in another cell

Is there a way for conditional formatting refer to the value of another cell instead of entering the value in the conditional format box?

wwjd is right. no way of doing that.
WWJD, two wuestions:
1) do you have the new office 2008 for mac beta (is it out?), how close is it to the new features in Office 2007 for windows, if you do?
2) why do our pictures keep getting cut off after a day of posting. I posted a pic yesterday and its already not showing on the page the next day. Do they not load them after the question is marked as solved?
