HELP! get video off ipod

recently reformatted my computer. I new i would have issues when i tried to reconnect my ipod to the new version of itunes. No problem i could get my old songs off. The only problem is that i have like ten movies and over 100 videos from google i put on my ipod. I have no idea how to rip my videos off of my ipod. any ideas?

Its slightly difficult to rip movies and videos off of an iPod...
First, since you have Windows XP, go to "My Computer"
Connect your iPod and double click it when it appears
Next, click one of the tabs on the top of the window and find an option called "Folder Options"
Then, find an option on the new window that says "Show Invisible Files", or something along those lines.
Afterwards, click on one of the tabs in the "Folder Options" window and go into file settings. Search for the video format MP4 (Push the M button to quickly go to the M section of all of the file extensions)
This part takes the longest to do. Once you've done everything, click on a folder untill you get a window where there are multiple other folders (Sorry, I forgot the name of the folder to click on).
After that, go through each folder and delete the videos that you want to remove.
The other way to do this would be to download the iPod installer for Windows and restore your iPod to factory default. Personally, this way is better if you don't feel like doing much.

  • Replaced hard drive: need helping getting songs off ipod to itunes

I recently had to send my computer into apple for repair, needless to say they had to replace my hard drive so i lost all of my music. However it is still on my ipod, so i was wondering if there is a way to transfer it from my ipod to my computer

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod.
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
    Senuti Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Need help getting music off ipod

I used to have 2 libraries on my itunes (mine & hubby's). Now it only shows hubby's music library - no classical. How do I get the missing music that is on my ipod back in the itunes library so I can sync my new ipod and get all the music?

You will need a third-party utility such as Pod To Mac, Disk Aid, or Phone Disk - MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.

  • Quicktime Pro and getting videos off the web

I am bound and determined to get videos off the web and use them to make my own videos and what not. I was wondering if quicktime pro is the best program to use for my project. I have downloaded other programs that don't work and I am sick of the hassle. If there is a sure thing program anyone knows about, I'd love to know. Otherwise, it would be great to hear about quicktime pro and it's adeptness or otherwise at successfully getting videos off the web.

Okay I figured out how to do that, but once it is downloaded, I am still having trouble. I don't know which application to use to open the file. Quicktime won't open it because it says it's not a movie file. I downloaded a standalone player and that couldn't open it either. What do I do?

  • I can not uninstall bonjour or itunes.  I get a error message that it is on a netwok resource that is unavailable.  help get it off so i can load a newer version.

I can not uninstall bonjour or itunes. I get a error message that it is on a netwok resource that is unavailable. help get it off so i can load a newer version.
I had a issue when my bonjour was deleted so I tried to delete all apple itms and then reinstall them but a few are left behind and I can not delete them so that when I try to reinstall itunes a error comes up that it can not delete a older version. Help me delete or fix this.

    Doublechecking before proceeding:
so that when I try to reinstall itunes a error comes up that it can not delete a older version.
At that point in time is it saying that it can't remove the older version of itunes or the older version of bonjour? (Either could be possible in this context, given your other symptoms, and whichever one is mentioned will make a difference to the treatment method.)

  • Old laptop died, can't get music off iPod

So I tried to follow the instructions for backing up my iPod, but I couldn't get it to work.
My old laptop died, but my iPod is fine. I want to transfer my songs from my iPod to the new laptop. My purchased music moved over just fine, but I can't get my CDs (which were ripped as mp3s) over to the new laptop. I'm using Windows, and when I mount the iPod as a hard drive, I only see the following folders:
    Calendars
    Contacts
    Notes
    iPod_Control (hidden)
Under iPod_Control, I have Accessories, Artwork, Device, iTunes, and Music subfolders.... the Music subfolder doesn't have any of the file names... any idea on how to quickly fix this? Thanks!

  • Help deleting stuff off iPod

I just bought the Nano 4GB today.
I DL 2 CDs to iTunes (26 songs) and when I plugged in my iPod, it downloaded over 1200!!!
Besides the 26 I wanted, I got about a dozen just from the iTunes site (which I did not want) and the rest seem to be sound files from somewhere off my hard drive (from a MMPORG - little 1 and 2 second things like that).
I searched the forum and saw a post that said go into itunes, uncheck what I did not want and plug in the iPod again and it would update (taking off/deleting the ones I did not want). That didn't work. They are all still there.
    any suggestions?
I really would appreciate the help. I am not very technical, but was assured anyone could use one of these things, and I don't want all that useless garbage cluttering up my iPod and using my memory.

Nothing happened. All that stuff is still on the iPod.
Open iTunes prefs -> iPod and select Update checked songs only.
Instead of checking/unchecking songs, it's easier to create a playlist and put the songs you want on it, then iTunes prefs-> iPod - Automatically update only selected playlists.
I just want to get rid of all the stuf fon there except the 26 songs I actually downloaded and wanted.
Is there any reason you only want 3 songs on an iPod?
The other thing is it put them into all the lists on the iPod (albums, artists, etc.)
    It's supposed to.
Every song on the iPod will be listed under Music -> Songs.
They will also be sorted by Artist, Album, Genre, Composer.
This is to make songs easier to find, instead of simply by title under Music -> Songs.
Want to listen to Elton John?
Go to Music -> Artists -> Elton John and press Play.
Want to hear Ride the Lightning?
Go to Music -> Albums - Ride the Lightning and press Play.
    Want to hear Rock?
Go to Music -> Genre -> Rock and press Play.
The purple Smart playlists will automatically pick songs based on certain criteria. This is from the info in the ID3 tags.
For example, the 90's playlist will pick songs released in the 90's.
Go here to get the basics -> iPod 101

  • Can't get video to iPod

I have successfully converted a video i want into MEG4. i put it in itunes, it's appears under "videos" and under the subheaders "all" and "movies". but when i update my ipod, the video is nowhere to be found. also, i have video podcasts and downloaded tv shows successfully uploaded onto my ipod that work fine: it's the videos off my computer that i convert that don't work. Please Help
p.s. Why the **** doesn't apple have a customer service number to call/ why is that number so hard to find? i just want to talk to someone. talk about a new leap in commercial laziness...

well, i figured it out. aparently there's a difference between "MPEG4" and "30GIG Gen5 iPod MPEG4" i have to specify between those tow formats and "60GIG Gen5 iPod MPEG4" in my conversion software. (i use Xilisoft Video converter and it's very easy). but now everything works.
No thanks to apple tech support.... stay tuned for a write up on my experience with apple tech support; an experience that makes me never to want to buy anything apple/mac again.

  • Can't get videos on iPod

I got the iPod with video and when I first started using it, any videos in my library automatically would sync to my ipod. Well, I deleted a few videos from my library, thinking that when I plug in the iPod it would delete those few videos from the ipod. What I found is now that I have NO videos on my ipod although there are several in the library, and the Video and Photos tab in iPod preferences AREN'T THERE ANYMORE!!! I can't change any preferences in iTunes that have to do with video, and I don't know how to get the video functionality back, and get videos on my iPod! Any suggestions would be great...

I just wanted to let everyone know I found a solution. I could never reset my iPod with the iPod software on my main computer (with my library on it). I moved the iPod to a different computer and ran the restore function through the iPod software. It erased everything, and set it back to factory settings. Now, when I plugged it back into my main computer, iTunes worked correctly! I'm not sure what happened in the first place, but this is my only suggestion if anyone else runs into this problem. It seems to be a problem with iPod rather than iTunes

  • How to get video off my camera into iMovie

I now have a MacBook with the 08 release of iLife. I would like to get the video off my camcorder and into iLife to save the movies (primary) and play/edit with them (secondary).
However, here's the catch. My camcorder is an older hand-me-down. The only ports on it are s-video and "headphone" jack for audio. I have an adapter for my Windows box (shudder) that lets me do it, but I'd really like to use my Mac for that stuff and that adapter isn't marked mac-compatible.
anybody have any ideas? i've seen these Dazzle things in Best Buy, but they smell Windows-only. There's got to be SOMETHING that would allow me to get svideo sources recorded ... right?

If you know someone with a digital camera (miniDV) with appropriate ports you pay be able to use it to pass your video through, although you may need to record to the miniDV tape first.

  • HT1335 Getting music off ipod formatted with a Mac

How do I get music off an ipod that has been formatted on a mac and transfer it to my windows computer?

That may be difficult.  The reverse would be easier because Macs can read the Windows disk format (FAT32) used on iPods.  Windows cannot read the disk format used by Macs, without additional (not free) software.  Here is one such product
    http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive
If you can make your Windows PC access the iPod's disk, you can probably use one of the third-party methods or utilities for transferring song files from iPod to computer.  You cannot use iTunes for transferring song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  An Internet search on something like "ipod transfer" should provide some links.
Once the song files from the iPod are on your computer's drive, you can add them to the iTunes library and then re-sync the iPod as desired.

  • I need to get videos off the iCloud.

I'm in a domestic abuse situation, an I've been gathering video evidence of the abuse. I have it saved on the iCloud, but not on my iPhone anymore. I only have a Chromebook for a computer. I need to send these videos, so I need to get them off of the cloud. How do I do this?

How did you save them to iCloud?  Are they saved as part of your iCloud backup or did you add them to a shared photo stream?
