Help: How to make JDeveloper to connect to Oracle repository through CMAN?

Hi folks,
I have a very dummy problem.
I have JDeveloper on Linux.
I have on Oracle SCM Repository in a database, which is across WAN.
The database is accessible through connection manager.
BUT HOW DO I EXPLAIN TO JDEVELOPER , that there is a Connection Manager. It only allows me to enter host:port:sid. It doesn't allow me to enter custom JDBC URL.
This is really missing functionality...
Please help me,
Regards,
Mihail Daskalov

The support for Oracle SCM in JDeveloper can only connect via thin JDBC. This always requires a host, port and SID. The limitation is due to underlying limitations in the libraries we use to connect to Oracle SCM.
Is your database connection using OCI? We have an existing enhancement request for OCI support (2700757), but let me know if it's another connection type, and I'll add that to the ER.
Thanks,
Brian

i make odbc connection which is fine.

Restoring the Business Intelligence Presentation Catalog and Updating Metadata
The third point blow above heading is not clear.
    Thanks

Umesh - in order to build Answers and Dashboard content you must first setup a Physical model, then a Business model, followed by a Presentation Catalog/Subject Area.
All these tasks are carried out using the Repository Administration Utility.
    1) Import your physical tables using OCI/ODBC into the physical layer.
    2) Build your model
    3) Deploy
Then you're ready to start building answers/dashboards.
    Good Luck.

Making a 'common' connection and passing it around is a bad idea. And making a new connection on every page, as you seem to have already guessed, also involves an overhead that you can do without.
Like drvijayj2k2 has mentioned, you should use connection pooling.

  • TP4 How to make an AppServer connection through a Firewall ?

In the Resource Manager we can not seem to find a way to modify the url to include http: ... Can someone point out some document on how to do this?

Chris Thanks for your reply. I am trying to do the following:
In the "application server navigator" under application servers I am attempting to make a connection to a JDev TP4 instance in stand alone mode that is behind a fire wall.
My understanding from the OC4J docs is have seen is I need to use a http port but in the connection manager I do not see a way to adapt the url to make a proper connection. Is this something that was just not taken into account ??? or am I just missing something here to make the connection. The help is of no use on this subject so I appreciate any assistance I can get.

  • Please help : How to make the anomalistic table just like below?

    Hi all,
How to make the anomalistic table just like below? Anyone can give the way detail or thoughtway ?
    http://61.132.17.188/webber/table.gif

    This is just a suggestion.
If you put your "JTable" in a "JScrollPane", then you can add any "java.awt.Component" to the corner of the "JScrollPane" -- using the "setCorner()" method (of "JScrollPane").
I would suggest making a custon "JPanel" and overriding its "paintComponent()" method to draw a diagonal line (and the required text) on it.
You can find out more about how to do this from the links I provided in my first reply.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck,

  • Help: how to make photo enlargements?

hi there, i'm am currently constucting a website using iweb. i have managed to create a photo page with all the thumbnails i need.
can anyone tell me how to make it so when someone clicks on a particular thumbnail and enlargement or the actual size of the photo opens up in a separate window as you find in regular galleries?
also, is this an effective method, or does it take up a lot more memory when uploading the site, or would it just be better to have larger thumbnails that are more visable?
    any help is appreciated, thanks!

This should be already happening if you are using a photo page template.

  • How to make a internet connection!!

I need to make a internet connection before a start a servlet (client) there's a form to do that ????

There is no such thing as a 'internet connection'. You don't connect to the internet, you connect to computers - like DSN servers, web servers etc.
Presumably you have a network. A client (browser) must connect to an application server to use a servlet. This is true even when running on the same box.
Your question is how to you connect to the web server? What application/web server are you running?

Not sure why you are trying to implement your own Connector. To connect to Oracle JDBC just your login's connectionString and driverClass.
If for some reason you need a custom connector, then just set your instance in the Session's DatabaseLogin.

  • How to make my computer send all the audio through optical audio cable instead of headphone jack?

    Howdy,
To listen to online radios or CD's played from my computer, I used to connect the computer to my home entertainment system from the computer's headphone jack to the AUX port on my home entertainment system.
I now wanted to get better sound and purchased the optical audio cable. However, I don't know how to tell my computer to send the audio signal to the home entertainmeny system through the optical digital cable rather than through the headphone jack. If I just unplug the cable connecting the headphone jack and the AUX port and only have the PC and the system connected with the optical audio cable, I don't hear any sounds. I suspect the computer isn't sending any data through the optical audio port. I'm not able to find how I can adjust the settings on my computer so that from now all sounds are output through the optical audio.
    1) I'd like to do that mainly for my HP desktop (configuration below) and any advice on how to do that would be appreciated.

    Hello @_goma,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I have read your post on how you are looking to make your computer send all the audio through an optical audio cable instead of the headphone jack, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To configure your desktop to enable the optical audio cable, I recommend following the steps below:
Step 1. Click the Windows Key Button on your desktop
    Step 2. Type "Control Panel"
Step 3. Select "Control Panel" in the top right-hand corner
    Step 4. Select Sound
Step 5. Under the Playback tab, right-click the white area below the devices available
Step 6. Select "Show Disabled" and "Show Disconnected Devices"
Step 7. Connect your Optical Audio Cable
Step 8. Select your Optical Audio Cable as the default device and click "Enable"
Since it is not possible to convert the HDMI out to audio out on your notebook computer, it is unfortunate that the notebook is not able to connect with an optical audio cord.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • JDeveloper cannot connect to Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.x

Hi, I am trying to create a connection from JDeveloper (on my desktop) to my oracle application server (10.1.3.x, on another machine). The JDeveloper version is 10.1.3.1.0.
In step 1, I chose the connection type: "Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.3".
In Step 3, I chose "connect to group". I tried different host names and "OC4J Component/group name" but always got the following error msg:
Error getting Cluster Config Set URLs for uri: deployer:cluster:opmn://hostname:6003/OC4J:default_group.
I also tried to run JDeveloper from the same machine as my AS installed. The host name I used is "localhost" and the group name is "default_group" and the connection is successful. So it seems to me that my AS configuration is correct.
May I ask what should be the correct "host name" and "group name" if I want to connect from a "remote" JDeveloper? And in what configuration file can I find such info.?
    Thanks a lot.

    hi user575786
Would you mind sharing some more details about the changes you had to make to get it working or about the nature of the "misconfiguration" you mention?
Maybe you have some pointers to documentation that helped you solve this?

  • How to make data base link from oracle 11g r2 to microsoft sql 2008 express

I need to make data base link from oracle 11g r2 to microsoft sql 2008 express to make replication between then
    please help me !
I didn't know what is the user and password in the command which create database link

To replicate data you can ude Database Gateway for ODBC or Database Gatewy for MS SQl Server. Please use the search engine of this forum if you ant to get more details about each product.
Some SQl Servers are set up to use Windows authentication only. In this case you won't be able to connect to the SQL Server as Windows authentication isn't supported with the gateways. You have to make sure your SQL server is supporting username and password authentication - a common user is the "sa" user. Regarding the username/password, please get in touch with your SQL Server Admin.

You don't need a DSN if you use Oracle's JDBC driver.
You didn't read ANY of the previous replies. What makes you think this one willk help? Or any instruction, for that matter?
Sounds like you just want someone to give it to you. OK, I'll bite, but you have to figure out the rest:
