HELP in Creating maintenance viewfor a table

Hi Experts,
I have created a customer table ZADD in the development system which has to have a maintenance view too. Can you guide me how to create the same. In the tecnical dialog details, I have put the following details :
Authorization group : ZTAB ( Table Maintenance )
Authorization Object : S_TABU_DIS.
Now, does the function group needs to be created at our end or we can use any standard function groups which would convert the table to the maintenance view.

<b>The Authorization group can be created as follows
Transaction SE54 >Select 'Authorization Groups'>Create/Change-->New Entries. Now the authorization group created can be assigned to your table.
To create an authorization group use transaction SE54.
You can use
<b>&NC& (Without Authorization group)</b>
for creating Table mainataianence as well.
Use Transactions
SE54 -> Create Authorization group
SE14 -> Table adjustment
and
SM30 -> Table Maintaience
SE80 -> Creation New Function Group
Ensure that you activate and adjust database in SE14 after your update in SM30.</b>

You need to create a task so that you can hook sources and targets together.
First, Design --> Tables tab --> New --> Below 'Edit' -->Table Type (Source) for your source tables.
Design --> Tables tab --> New --> Below 'Edit' -->Check warehouse and Table Type (Fact or Fact Temporary) for your target tables.

Hi,
You need to create search helps based on this table for each filed or one for all the fields with proper import and export paramters. Or else you can give check table entries for each of the table fields for which you need the F4 help. Check table us assigned to a field using the Foriegn key assignment.

1) In Table ZPROUDCT , I want to create search help only P records for Table Zproduct of the field Product FROM zGROUPS table
2) In Table Zsales , I want to create search help only PS records from ZGROUPS table
3) In Table ZPSG, I want to create search help only PSG records from table ZGROUPS
is it possible to create search help from One Master Table(ZGROUPS) table to other tables based on conditions.
Please help me.

Maintenance dialog for table

Hello folks,
I had successfully created a table and I tried inserting some records in to the table using table maintenance.
I received the following error.
'The maintenance dialog for table zxxx is incomplete or not defined'.
What does this mean?? And what should I do??
I am pasting the detail help over this error.

The called function with the view/table ZTV_DBS_RANGE_NO needs a special maintenance dialog which, however, either does not exist at all, or does not exist completely.

Procedure
Generate the required maintenance dialog.

You have to create the maintenance dialog for table you would like to use with transaction SM30 / SM31.
To do this look the transaction SE55.
(or SE11, select the table, MODIFY, (menu) Utilities -> Maintain dialog ... )

Error while creating maintenance view

Hi Freinds,
I have 2 tables
zemp and zdept and also i have defined foriegn key relationship between this two tables using a comman field DEPTNO. when i trying to create Maintenance View, its showing the following error
*No database view exists for view ZMAINVIEW*_
can any one help me how to solve thos problem

Hi sri,
First open se11 and go for views and select maintainence views and copy then it shows screen asking table name here first its enough if u specify one table and go for relationships then you can have pop up showing that what are the tables having relations wiht your basic table if it shows that 2 tables then it is correct if not something wrong in when you assigned foregin key to the table.

Adding field in Maintenance view of table

Hi,
I am trying to create a custom maintanable table. Now the requirement is I need to add one more extra field in the maintenace view of the table which should not be in the table fields and is for display only in the maintencae view.
I tried adding a cloumn by editing the screen program generated by the table maintenance generator. I get the the display in the maintenance view of that extra field. But I dont get the values populated.
Can you please let me know in which PBO or PAI i should write the module programe ..

Normally the extra field should be from a table that has a foreign-key relationship to your main table. Thus, add this additional table to the list of tables for the view. If it does not have a suitable relationship you cannot add it to the list of tables.
Afterwards add the required field to the list of view fields and set its property to 'R' = read-only.
If correctly defined there is no need at all to modify the screen(s) or the coding of the PBO/PAI modules.
Example: your z-table contains field KUNNR (value table KNA1) and you want to add the NAME1 field to your maintenance view
add table KNA1 to the list of tables
add field NAME1 to view fields
set its property to 'R'
regenerate function modules and screens

Hi,
Please try this and use BSEG as an example.
1. Go to SE12.
2. Enter BSEG
3. Click Display button
4. Go to Delivery and Maintenance' tab.
5. You should be able to see Pool/cluster RFBLG.
6. Double click RFBLG and then click Where-Used list button (CTRLSHIFTF3).
7. Select Table option and click Execute button.
8. System will show all the table that belong to this pool/cluster.
For Pool/Cluster REGUC, it is only used in table REGUP.

Since your requirement is to view logically connected data from different tables, try creating the "database view".

Creating TPR for customized table

I want to create transport a customized table to QA from Dev box.
I know how to create transport request for reports and smartforms and all.
But How do I create transport request for customized table ?
Is it thorugh SM30 ?
Please help me...

this depends on the Table maintenance dialog for the table. (utiliteis->table maint generator).
If it has the recording routine set as 'standard' then SM30 will automatically create a transport when you hit the save button after perfroming maint on the table.
For 'no, or user..' you will have to manually add entries to a transport.
Go to SE10. Display your transport. Double click on the development/correction line. Now you can see a list of objects belonging to the task. Hit the 'display/change' toggle button. Add an entry with program id R3TR and object TABU. Enter the table name in the object name. Double click opn the function icon to the right of the object name. Double click in the empty table key area. This pops to allow you to enter the keys you require to transport.

A query related to creating Indexes for a table

I am in a J2EE Banking Project using Oracle 10g as our Database .
We have created Indexes on some tables .
But this this is not called by any of our Java class .
Could anybody please let me know how these Indexes will actually improve the Performance .

But in our safety database (huge & ofcourse Oracle), we use indexes just because to avoid duplicates, improve data retrieval and so on.As you pointed out indexes can do 2 things for you: enforce uniqueness and (hopefully) improve data retrieval. Enforcing uniqueness is pretty basic, but indexes don't always improve performance. Under the wrong condtions indexes can hurt performance. The ideas below refer to B-TREE indexes; other kinds of indexes have other considerations
Indexes add overhead to insert, delete, and (hopefully not - updating index columns is a Bad Idea), enough so that if you're inserting a lot of rows into a large table it is sometimes helpful to drop the indexes, load the data, and recreate the indexes when done to help performance. The more indexes a table has the more overhead DML statements need to maintain them.
Indexes help query performance under a couple of conditions. When using them as join keys to retrieve a small percentage of rows in a table (< 20% maybe; there is no firm number) indexes can help. When a query can read its columns from an index only (such as counts against a primary key index) index access can be faster than table access.
Indexes can hurt performance by adding overhead for maintenance if the index is never actually used or if used to read most of the rows in a table when a full table scan would be more efficient (why go through the extra effort to read the index and then table when you'll have to read most of the rows in the table anyway?).

Is there any function module or BAPI to create maintenance item.(Urgent)

Creating records in DOKTL table

Hello Everyone,
I have to create new records for table DOKTL.
I have the required data to be entered, but i didnt see a table maintenance generator for this table.
I would like to know how should I go about to enter values in it?
Is there some Function Module etc. ?
Using an Insert statement would be the last thing in this case.

Please follow this steps
Please go to SE16N,
Give the table name
Press Enter
In the transaction code bar enter '&SAP_EDIT' and press enter.
SAP editing function is activated.
now click on execute.
The table will open in EDIT mode. But, please make sure that you are editing correctly the totals.
1. Use SE09 to
Either create a new workbench request
or goto the old request (Objects Tab)
2. Press Edit button
3. Enter the following in the row:
Prog Id = R3TR
Obj Type = TABU
Obj Name = MyTableName
Then Press ENTER
4. A Key Button will come on the Right column.
Press it. A New screen will come.
5. In table name enter : MyTableName
In Table Keys enter : KeyFields*
Save the request and transport.

[Maintenance View] Mass maintenance of Z-Table

Hi,
I was wondering what were the options when dealing with mass maintenance of Z-table entries.
SM30 is OK for maintenance view but you cannot process more than a given number of lines (34 entries or so) per page.
Ideally, it should be possible to enter data from Excel file of even clipboard.
SE16N is great for this since it allows pasting of clipboard data but it does not work with maintenance views (it switches to the SM30 dynpro).
Besides, if I create a database view, it is not possible to save entries because it joins several table together (even if I only need additional fields for display only).
I tried the FM 'SE16_INTERFACE' but it dumps with an CX_SY_DYNAMIC_OSQL_SEMANTICS error (SAPSQL_NO_DBTAB_OR_VIEW). (you can only query table or database view but no maintenance view)

Hi,
Developing a generic tool won't take much time probably 6 hours at an experience level of 2+ years!!!
Once you develop you can use it for ever.
What all you need to do is create a field-symbol of type standard table. Get the table name and the file from the selection screen.
Create a dynamic internal table with reference to the table name entered in the selection screen. Upload the data and update the database.
Limitations in the design:
1. File should be in correct format and with the correct data. (Specific validations can't be done)
2. Table maintenance events can't be tackled.
eg: On entering the material number, Material description should automatically come.
Creating BDC for SM30 is ok. But this works only at a table level. We may not be able to make it generic as the screen field names changes based on table name.
So think and choose the right approach!!!

Error while creating Maintenance order

Hi,
While creating Maintenance order with any order type (PM01,PM02 & PM03) & entering material in component Tab, the system is giving this Error 'Entry does not exist,check your entry'
The used material is already maintained in the Material Master with all necessary information.
Kindly suggest the best possible solution for this problem.

Procedure
    Check whether the input is correct and correct if necessary.
Procedure for System Administration
    If this is not an incorrect entry, check the system settings and change
    them if necessary.
    If there is a connection to the Customizing system, you can maintain the
    system settings by choosing Maintain entries (F5)
