Help in Dumping Data to Excel
Hello All
I have problem dumping data to excel. Basically, i created a VI to get some data using my TV test receiver (via RS232) and send the data to an excel spreadsheet. It saves the data no problem but it does it vertically. I want it to be save in Horizontal format. Can anybody give me an example to do this?
Many Thanks and more power.
Hi,
If you are using the write to spreadsheet VI from the functions pallet, there is a Boolean input at the bottom called "Transpose?". If you wire a 'True' constant to that input you should transpose your data so that it appears horisontally instead of vertically.

Help: writing large data to excel using java
Hi All
I had a question writing a 6000 rows of data with 20 colums to a excel sheet. I am using Apache POI
When we are writing some data to a file we store the data in an stringbuffer and then write the data to the file all at once.
Is the same possible with excel? if so how?
And what is the best way of wring data to an EXCEL file considering the above data into consideration.
Please guide me thanks in advance.
Regards
DianaText Files and Excel formatted files treat things differently--basically no, you cannot group multiple fields into one string: Excel has the concept of cells that you need to write the data into and will act similar to fields in a DB. On the other hand, you can drop the Excel formatting and write CSV files and Excel will load them just fine. With a CSV file you can write it all to a String, StringBuffer, StringBuilder or what ever String type of object you want and write an entire line at a time.

Dumping data from forms 4.5 to excel
Hi,
we use oracle 8.1.3 (WINDOWS 2000) / forms 4.5 (WINDOWS 98).
we call a procedure from forms 4.5 to dump oracle data
into excel file. The procedure is working fine. The problem is
after dumping data into excel file and exiting the program,
excel is not completely closed.
If i press "ctrl + alt + delete" i can see excel is still in use.
Because of this if i click on excel file it doesn't open automatically.
Any suggestions?
regards,
chetty.

END;You could probably use the built-in DDE or OLE2 packages to do this (although you may run into problems having reports close after invoking excel).
I don't have any sample code for this though, so you'd need to review the DDE and OLE APIs that Excel provides to see if it's applicable.
Incidentally, in 6i it's possible to run a report on the web, return a csv file and have Excel automatically open (assuming the mimetype is set correctly). You may want to look closer at this solution (which would require an upgrade).
Hope this helps,

Getting short dumps while reading bulky data from excel sheet
Hi all,
We have converted our non-unicode based sap system (R/3 4.7, Windows 2003,
SQL 2000) into a unicode based system recently. We are facing two peculiar
problems for last few days.
*Problem 1 - *Whenever we want to upload the data from excel sheet, the
system throws a dump after reading about 400 entries, while last week the
same system used to read about 8000 entries in a single go.
*Problem 2 - *Also, whenever we realease a transport requst from development
containing a lot of changes, the request will reach the quality system but
without the changes. but if i ll try to import the changes into quality
system after generating more than one request containing small small
changes, they get reflected in QAS immediately. Is there any size
constraint in transporting a request fro DEV->QAS->PRD.
Please suggest some ways.
I am pasting the dump (that I am getting while data uploading from Excel).

Runtime errors
MESSAGE_TYPE_X*
Occurred on
22.02.2008 at
13:21:02*
The current application triggered a termination with a short dump.
What happened?
The current application program detected a situation which really
should not occur. Therefore, a termination with a short dump was
triggered on purpose by the key word MESSAGE (type X).
What can you do?
Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
date.
Error analysis
Short text of error message:
Control Framework : Error processing control
Technical information about the message:
Diagnosis
An error occurred when the system tried to process the commands
from the Automation Queue on the presentation server.
There are several possible reasons for this:
- The installation of the SAP GUI on the presentation server is
faulty or obsolete.
- There is an error in the application program
- There is an error in the SAPGUI or an integrated control
Procedure
1. Make sure that you have imported the appropriate Support
Package, the current kernel, and GUI patch for the release of your
System
2. Check whether the error occurs locally on one or a few PCs, or
generally on all PCs. Note whether the error only occurs for some
users, for example because of a specific Customizing setting.
If it only occurs locally, this suggests an installation problem
with the PC. Check the installation; if necessary, reinstall the
software. In the dump, search for the SY-MSGLI field, since it may
point to the cause of the error.
3. Activate the Automation Trace (in accordance with SAP Note
158985).
4.Start the transaction and continue until the screen immediately
before the dump.
5. From the System -> Utilities menu, choose Autom. Queue,
Synchronous Processing.
The status bar of the GUI displays the text:
"Automation synchron flush mode on"
6. If you now proceed with the application, the short dump will
display the ABAP call that caused the error; the Automation Trace
will contain the error on the presentation server.
7. If necessary, load the short dump and trace files on to
sapservX, so that SAP can analyze them.

How to correct the error
Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.
You may able to find an interim solution to the problem
in the SAP note system. If you have access to the note system yourself,
use the following search criteria:
"MESSAGE_TYPE_X" C
"SAPLOLEA" or "LOLEAU02"
"AC_SYSTEM_FLUSH"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself, please send the
following documents to SAP:
1. A hard copy print describing the problem.
To obtain this, select the "Print" function on the current screen.
2. A suitable hardcopy prinout of the system log.
To obtain this, call the system log with Transaction SM21
and select the "Print" function to print out the relevant
part.
3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
supply the source code.
To do this, you can either use the "PRINT" command in the editor or
print the programs using the report RSINCL00.
4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred
or which actions and input led to the error.

Mitra __.____._for the 50 millionth time: Excel spreadsheets are NOT databases, you should NOT try to use them as such and NEVER access them using JDBC.
You should also under NO condition use the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver (that was actually the 78 millionth time that was told someone). -

I gave TRUNC to both of the dates. But still the same issue. I think the problem is in returning the BolbDomain.
return blobDomain;

System.out.println("Exception in XDO :");
throw new OAException("Exception in XDO : "+xdoe.getMessage());
catch (SQLException sqle) {
System.out.println("Exception in SQL :");
throw new OAException("SQL Exception : "+sqle.getMessage());
catch (OAException e) {
System.out.println("Exception in OA :");
throw new OAException("Unexpected Error :: " +e.getMessage());

TomHi,
Try using format part of the JSTL tag libs.
Syntax :
<%@ taglib prefix="fmt" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/fmt" %>
<fmt:formatNumber value="40" pattern="$#,##0.00"/>
I need help in writing the data from JSP to excel.I
somehow able to retrieve the data into excelHow do u convert the jsp to excel?
One way to convert the jsp page to excel, is to render it as an excel appl instead of html. Set the content type of the response to application/ms-excel.
response.setContentType("application/ms-excel")Hope this Helps.... -
Exporting form data to excel help
Hi there,
I have created an interactive form using Livecycle Designer that comes with Adobe 9 Pro. Forms will be download from a website, completed and emailed back to me. I'm having trouble trying to export the data to excel. Whilst it lets me export data to excel it does not appear in the logical order as it is on the form. I'm not sure how to fix this and/or if its possible to only have certain fields displayed in excel?
Is it also possible to automate the process so that data in completed forms that i save will update the inforamtion in excel?
Any help greatly appreciated, I'm new to forms.
Windows XP
Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro
Microsoft Excel 2003
Thanks,
KenYou probably need to ask in the LiveCycle forum since this is a Designer issue I think. If you are doing the export from Acrobat, then list the steps you are using. However, the field order and such are going to be set by Designer.

Dump in Value-Help Component for date
I created a Value-Help-Component for date fields. (I cannot use the standard value help, because I need the help to start in the month, the user is working on).
I am using the Date Navigator to select a date.
If I first change the month with an arrow of the date navigator and then select a date I get a dump in the method IF_WD_CONTEXT_ELEMENT~GET_ATTRIBUTE_REF in line
attr_info = me->node_info->if_wd_context_node_info~get_attribute( name_only ).
, because the element does not have a node_info.
If I just choose a date in the preselected month (without using the arrows of the date navigator) everything is fine.
Does anybody have an idea??
Many thanks in advance.I found the "solution" to the problem myself.
I used the method bind_structure in the component containing the date navigator.
After I replaced it by set_static_attributes it worked without producing dumps.
Very strange! -

Import data using Excel and Oracle SQL Developer - I need some help
Dear friends,
I'm using Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.1 and I need to import an Excel file into a database table. If I try to import this file in XLS format, fields and headers are correctly being shown and separated, but if I press "Next" button, it simply doesn't do anything - it stays stopped.
I did some search here in this forum and it seems to me that, when you try to import a file via XLS format, SQL Developer has bugs. Is this correct?
If I save the same file in CSV format and try to import the same file, it goes ahead, but SQL Developer is not separating fields and headers correctly. It combines all CSV fields into one - let's say Column0 and fields 1;TEST;01/01/2000 below the same Column0.
Saving the file in CSV format is not a problem, taking a very little time. But I don't know how to make SQL Developer import it correctly. Could somebody please help me? Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
FranklinHello K,
yes, you're right. I found the following topic after posting this question here.
Re: After update to 1.5.1, import from Excel fails
I downloaded version 1.5.0 and I'll use it whenever I import data from Excel.
Thanks,

Hello All,
I am trying to export data to Excel from a report output. Its a simple report. I have tried the below FM
CALL FUNCTION 'RH_START_EXCEL_WITH_DATA'
EXPORTING
DATA_FILENAME =
DATA_PATH_FLAG = 'W'
DATA_ENVIRONMENT =
DATA_TABLE =
MACRO_FILENAME =
MACRO_PATH_FLAG = 'E'

OTHERS = 8
IF sy-subrc <> 0.
MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
ENDIF.
This FM when executed without passing any data is able to open an empty excel sheet but when I try to pass an internal table to DATA_TABLE its giving a dump. The run time error is CALL_FUNCTION_CONFLICT_TYPE.
Error:
**"The function module interface allows you to specify only fields
of a particular type under "TABNAME". The field "ITAB1" specified here
has a different field type."**
Please let me know if Im missing something.

Problem while exporting data to Excel sheet.......
Hi
I have written the following code to export data to excel sheet...
data:
conv_out TYPE REF TO cl_abap_conv_out_ce,
content TYPE xstring.
data : itab_slsrl type table of znslsrlitm.
data: xml_out TYPE string.
Data:
Node_slsrl type ref to If_Wd_Context_Node,
Elem_slsrl type ref to If_Wd_Context_Element,
Stru_slsrl type ref to if_wd_context_element .
call transformation ('ID') source tab = itab_slsrl[] result xml xml_out.
CALL FUNCTION 'CRM_IC_XML_STRING2XSTRING'
EXPORTING
INSTRING = xml_out
IMPORTING
OUTXSTRING = content.
conv_out = cl_abap_conv_out_ce=>create( encoding = 'UTF-8' ).
DATA: lv_filename TYPE string.
conv_out->convert( exporting data = xml_out IMPORTING buffer = content ).
cl_wd_runtime_services=>attach_file_to_response(
i_filename = 'Sales_order_release.xls'
i_content = content
i_mime_type = 'application/msexcel'
i_in_new_window = i_in_new_window
i_inplace = i_inplace ).
But when i am trying to export data to excel sheet i am getting
following error...
"Switch from current encode to specified encoding is not supported"
"<?xml version="1.0" encoding='utf-16"?>"
if i change encoding utf-8 to utf-16 in my code its giving dump..
"The conversion of certain code pages is not supported"
Did i miss any step...?
How to resolve this problem please help me....
Thanks & Regards
Sowmya.....Hi Sowmya,
I do had a similar issue, but I avoided that problem temporarily by commenting the following code.
l_conv_out = cl_abap_conv_out_ce=>create( encoding = 'UTF-8' ).
attach the first file
l_conv_out->convert( exporting data = l_xml_out IMPORTING buffer = l_content ).
Once this is done, you can export the data to Excel and open it and see too...But this is a temporary solution only. Implement this solution to get to understand more flaws of this.

Unable to read data in Excel 2010/2013 from encrypted Access 2010/2013 database
A customer has an Access database (.accdb), which was encrypted/given a database password in Access 2013. It should be possible to read that data from Excel 2010/2013, but when clicking on Data-->From Access
and the correct path is put in and the correct database password has been entered, Excel just keeps prompting for the database password. This happens with both Excel 2010 and 2013.
The database password supplied is correct as evidenced by opening the database in Access 2013 using the same database password.
A colleague in a separate company has found that a separate .accdb file he has recently encrypted also has the same problem as above, yet a .accdb file encrypted ages ago
is readable from Excel.
How do I get Excel 2010/2013 to read the data from the encrypted .accdb file, please?Since Access 2010 the encryption algorithm has changed:
Source
Follow the next steps to apply an encryption method that will allow you to (programmatically) connect to the database:
1. Decrypt the database
2. Change the encryption method:
- In Access Options select 'Client Settings'
- Scroll down to section 'Advanced'
- 'Encryption Method': select option 'Use legacy encryption (..'
- Click 'OK'
3. Encrypt the database
Hope this helps.
