Help in images

Hi every one,
I'm tring to make a small game.the problem is that the images doesn't appear like i want ,for example if you draw a star and filled it with yellow color then when you move it on the game it moves the whole image with a white background for the non-yellow areas of the image how can i solve that,
shortly ,how to make the background of a certain image transperent to the main background image.
thanks in advance.

If you're simply drawing the star to the screen with Graphics2D.fill(Shape), then this shouldn't happen. It depends, however, on what exactly you mean by "move". If the shape is drawn on a white background, then you try to move it simply by copying the area surrounding the shape to a new location, then you'll end up copying the white background as well. You'll get better results if you simply use Graphics2D.fill(Shape) again.
If you're loading an Image from a GIF file, the transparency in the image will be the same as the transparency in the GIF file. (This may work for PNG files, too... but not JPG files, because they don't support transparency.)
If you're using a BufferedImage to create the star image, you'll need to specify, when you create the BufferedImage, a mode that supports transparency. Then you'll be able to draw that BufferedImage where it's needed.
(The hard part will be erasing the previous location of the star, if you are moving it. This usually requires redrawing the background.)

    Im new to java and need help inserting images on a GUI! Does anyone have any programs or snippets of code that've done this successfully - preferrably using the GridBagLayout as well as in swing? If you have anything that works well, feel free to send me the entire java file ([email protected]) or just post it!

    Just create a JLabel with an image icon and you are able to display any JPEG and GIF image. You might take a look at the following:

  • Help with image ready on ps3 extended

    I am pretty new to photo shop and have cs3 extended.
    I have a Yorkie website where I cut out my Yorkies and paste them to differnet backgrounds.... a lady that does the ANIMATED pictures  HAS DID A COUPLE FOR ME ....BUT I NEED TO LEARN TO DO THIS MYSELF.  She will not tell folks how to do:)
    The problem is once you work with a pic that is animated already then try to  add a dog.....by pasting....it removes the animation in the background pic.... and the picture no longer moves once the dog is added ?....She said she puts thru IMAGE READY...which I do not see anywhere on CS3 extended.  I will try to insert a pic she did for me and any help would be greatly appreciated....as I can do but then the picture is no longer animated once altered in my photoshop but she is doing somehow.....so has to be poss ?  If I were to do this pic it would stop moving once the dogs were added....plus not as good as her but practicing........could it be the fact she is doing in layers and I am doing copy and paste...I do know she puts thru Image ready and I do not know where this is located on cs3 extended or how to do?

    I'm not sure anyone mentioned this but if not to open GIFs using the import you have to enter the GIF name as GIF isn't listed as one of the options.
    It sounds like you are viewing the images in a maximized screen mode. To view more than one document, press F to cycle through the screen modes. FYI, only the contents of the currently selected document can be viewed in the layers palette.
    I'll just talk about copy/paste so as not to confuse...
    If you are going to copy/paste, click the frame around the dog document to target it. Your layers palette will now contain the contents of the dog document. Click on the layer in the layers palette with the selected dog over transparency. With that layer highlighted in your layers palette, press Ctrl A; then Ctrl C. (Select<Select All; Edit<copy if you prefer using the menu.) This will copy that layer into your clipboard.
    Next, click the frame of the document containing the animation. Click the topmost layer in the layers palette because we want you dog to be in the top layer. Press Ctrl + V. (Edit<Paste if you prefer using the menu).
    Your dog is most likely going to be too big. Use Edit<Free Transform to size and move the dog to the desired location.
    At this point, your dog should be showing in each frame in the animation palette.
    Example:
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/25315/with-palettes-open.jpg
    I'm using the older Image Ready me method. The highlighted place in the palette is where you switch methods between the old method and the new timeline. Notice, I have the layers and animation palette both in the workspace...and I'm not in a maximized mode. The red arrow shows the correlation between the frame and the layer represented by it in the layers palette.
    Image:second-image.jpg
    Here I have a second image to slip into my animation. I have the creature selected and on it's own layer with transparency around it. Notice that the the layer with the isolated creature is highlighted. At this stage, I'll press Ctrl + A; then Ctrl + C to select and save this image to my clipboard.
    Image:creature-added.jpg
    Here, I've pasted (Ctrl + V or Edit<Paste) in my creature and resized it (Ctrl + T or Edit<free transform) so he can be jumped. I also added a shadow under my creature which I added to a layer under my creature. Notice that when Frame on is selected in the animation palette that the eye is on both the creature and the shadow. If I click the eye to turn them (creature and shadow layer) off, they disappear from the entire animation. I can make them appear at any frame by clicking the desired frame in the animation then turning on the eye icon for the creature and shadow layer in the layers palette. I can also adjust opacity if desired.
    You could even more than the one image if you want the dog to appear to move. Use the eyeball visibility to determine which pose will be used for that frame.
    Example:
    Image:jump-creature-gif.gif
    Here, I used transform warp to adjust the pose of the creature for a few frames as he's jumping the creature...just for fun.

  • Help my image library is now showing errors

    I have Lightroom 5 and have just upgrade with the latest updates. Now all the unkeyworded images have an error notice on them. How do I restore them to were there were yesterday? it looks like they are now only thumbnails as they are very pixelated. There is now image metadata showing at the side of the image either.
    Any suggestions please?

    Hi Keith,
    if I view the library in the grid there is an ! mark next to every photo that I haven't given keywords to yet but if i view them in the Loupe window it has a label above which says There was an error working with the photo. There is no metadata showing next to it. The only thing I have done in the last few days to the computer is to run updates on my operating system. Actually Lightroom isn't then only thing not working, my accounting programme won't work at all now!
    I am new to lightroom so not 100% sure what I am doing, any insight would be welcome.
    Thanks

  • Need help Loading images with selection on a form field?

    So I'm kind of a newb.. I can do basic forms but I need to set up a form field drop down box that will give me the ability to load images correlating to the users choice. I'm at a total loss for where to start, so ANY help would be appreciated. If you know of any good books or tutorials on the subject please share.

      docOCGs[x].state = !docOCGs[x].state;

  • [noob needs help] Loading image from a URL

    Hey everyone. I'm new here. And I'm new at J2ME as well.
    I have a simple school project and I have doubts about it. I've searched everywhere on the net yet I could not find the solution. Anyways, I do understand the concept of loading images by putting the files in the "res" folder and use:
    try
    img = Image.createImage("/burgerimgsmall.jpg");
    catch (Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    But my project requires me to load an image from a URL. How do I go about doing that? If it helps, here's the URL:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v703/punkgila/burgerimgsmall.jpg
    Thanks guys!

    Don't worry, downloading image from http is also simple. Look into Photoalbum demo in wtk2.5

  • Hard drive recently failed and iPhoto brings a -36 error when copying need help accessing image files

    I recently updated my computer to mountain lion and after doing so my computer would no longer boot up.  I took it to the apple store and they told me that the hard drive was damaged and needed to be replaced.  They were booting my computer with an external drive and in doing so could access my computers HDD.  Upon starting to drag and drop files to a new hard drive I started to get a lot of -36 errors.  I proceeded to go go,e and create my own bootable thumb drive and try doing the same process with more time to look through it.  I have up till now been able to copy most of my files but have run into a problem with iPhoto.
    I have been searching around for a while now and have yet to find a method that helps me in my particular situation so I am now asking for help myself. I will explain what my current system of file recovery is and see if anyone can help me out.
    I have since then replaced the HDD in my computer and purchased a SATA external HDD enclosure for the original drive.  This allows me to still access all files and folders from the original drive.  I have managed to recover a majority of the files but have recently run into a problem with the iPhoto library.  Every time I try to drag and drop the iPhoto library to my new HDD it fails after "transferring" 2.02GB and tells me it has encountered a -36 error because some files cannot be read or written.  I believe I am using iPhoto '09, I will check and confirm that later.
    I am looking for a way to open iPhoto's library and access the image files it seems to be hiding from me. Please understand that I cannot open the iPhoto library either, I have lost access to the library entirely and want to see if there are any image files that I can save.  I dont have the computer backed up recently and want to save my photos.  Thanks for looking and I'm hoping someone can help.

    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command). Rebuild it to the Pictures Folder. This might overcome the -36 issue.
    (This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.)
    Failing that you're into recovering your Originals from the damaged Library and creating a new Library and starting over from scratch.

  • Help with images in Spry menus

    I need help making this work: I want my menu buttons and
    submenu buttons to be images rather than text. I've been able to
    set it up to use different images for each of the main and
    sub-level buttons, but only for the active state. I cannot figure
    out how to use a different set of "hover images" for the hover
    state. Note-- Each button and submenu button in the entire menu are
    different images, so I suspect I need to use different ID's for
    each, but I am not sure how to set that up in the
    SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css file for each different button in, at
    least, the active and hover states. Can anyone offer some help with
    this?:

    V1 - Thank you for the suggestion, but this does not exactly
    solve my dilemma. In its simplest terms, this is what I want to do:
    Create a single drop-down menu where there is "Item 1" with
    submenus "Item 1.1", "Item 1.2", and "Item 1.3". But, I want to use
    different images for each item and subitem in their Active and
    Hover states. So, in this example, there would be 8 different
    images... An Active and a Hover image for each of Item 1, Item 1.1,
    Item 1.2 and Item 1.3.

  • Help - Finding images that I've edited

    Hi again,
    This is a contination of a prior post, but has narrowed in scope.  I have a case open with Adobe realted to my catalog going haywire at some point in the past (longer ago than my oldest catalog BU). In my dealings with Adobe on this now almost 2 month old case several things have been tried. Some have helped for some of the symptoms but we're left with one remaining problem.
    At this time the catalog has lost track of the CR2 half of CR2+JPG combos. The physical CR2 files are still on my HD, just the catalog now only knows about the JPG where in the past the catalog had showed CR2+RAW for those images.  I'm not going to go into all the gory details, but it looks like for situaitons where I had applied edits to my CR2+JPG combos before the catalog lost track of the CR2's, those edits are now showing on the remaining JPG (as the CR2 is no longer known to the catalog) and I need to get those edits over to the corresponding CR2 which I can re-import. So far Adobe has not been able to suggest anyting other than importing the CR2 (after setting the catalog preference to treat RAW next to JPG as seperate images) then copying the history from the JPG to the CRW one by one which is not a very exciting thought.
    I have over 22,000 images in the catalog, of which, maybe 15,000 were victims of the catalog problem that lost the CR2's. What I don't know is how many, and which, photos in the catalog are lone JPG's (ie are not part of a CR2+JPG combo) and have had one or more edits applied to the image. If that number is manageable I can copy the edits one by one. If that number is too large, then I need to keep encouraging Adobe to give me a way to do this.
    So, can one of you experts come up with a filter or smart collection method of isolating the lone JPG images (not CR2+JPG combos) where there are edits showing in the history. The filter or smart collection should only consider real updates and ignore history entries such as those that start with "Update to current process", "export to....", "Import...", "Publish...", Etc.
    Thanks -- Dan

    Hi Beat,
    The plugin you suggested was looking real good till I got to a FAQ on their web page stating that "History Steps" are not copied.  Oops, that's what I'm really after.   I guess just the final edited image pixels are copied rather than the edit stps.
    Thanks for the thought.

  • Need help adding image to datagrid column

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me how to add an image to a datagrid column?
    I have created a flex library project which contains a mxml component with a datagrid, an item renderer mxml component which rendered the image within the datagrid column depending on the value coming back from the database for that column and a folder 'assets' which hold all the images. When I add the library to my main project and call the mxml component with the datagrid an image place holder is visible in the datagrid column but not the image. However, if I take the image out of the library project and added to an 'assets' folder in the main project the image is displayed in the datagrid column.
    It looks like, even though the images are in the flex library project and only the flex library project is trying to display the images in the datagrid, the library project is looking in the main application project folder for the image.
    Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance for an help,
    Xander.

    I have tried embedding the images in my library but it still didn't work. Also I can't embed the image as I'm using the value of the column to complete the image name, for example in my mxml item renderer component I have the added the following code
    <mx:Image source="@Embed(source='assets/' + data.mycolumnvalue + '.png')" tooltip="{data.mycolumnvalue}"/>
    but nothing is displayed.

  • Help with image analysis Photoshop CS4 Extended

    Hi there - I recently went to the Birmingham NEC photo expo and saw a guy there giving a CS4 extended demo.  He showed how at the click of a button a folder of new photos were reduced to a smaller bunch of just the most tack-sharp ones.  I can't find out how to do this with my CS4 Extended - can anyone help - or am I just imagining it all  :-)))

    Sounds interesting.
    Did he do that in Photoshop itself or Bridge or Lightroom?
    Anyway, I suspect one could maybe achieve something like this in Photoshop with some fairly heavy Scripting, but I suspect the Script would have to actually open the images for analysis …

  • [CS3][JS] Help with image resizing

    I'm still a newbie of ID scripting.
    I'm using js scripting in Indesign CS3 to make an auto-impaginator and I have a problem with images.
    I charged my contents from an xml set of tables, that I put into a fixed textFrame of the master page.
    Because of the table needs to fill multiple pages, I made a function that keep creating pages and link the textFrames so that the table continues in various pages.
    In this whole process I have some images too, that I need to resize them to fill the cell, because now they pass the parent cell.
    I found a method that looks at the bounds and resizes the image and the rectangle too, but it doesn't work always, because if a image is overflowing, it hasn't any bound and it fails, and this causes other problems in my process, so I would find another method.
    So:
    Is there another way to resize an image on-the-way while importing it? Some xml attribute or preference?
    Or some method that works also if the image is overflowing?

    These forums are pointless. Adobe must believe that other users will cut the mustard. Absolutely a waste of effort for everyone. Adobe should PAY at least a junior developer involved in the projects to monitor and help with these posts. FLEX rules yeah and thousands more do scripting than develop plug ins...

  • Help building image swap in flash cs4?

    Hello all,
    I've been trying to research 'flash cs4 image swap' but most everything I find is related to dreamweaver, so I appreciate anyone's help to point me in the right direction.
    I have a project in which I have an opening scene of a main image and 8 thumbnail buttons.  This opening scene is pretty basic, as the thumbnails would link to a new scene or frame label (however I build it).  This 2nd scene or instance in the timeline is where I would display another large image, and 6 new thumnail images that, upon rollover, would swap the large main image with the large version of the active thumbnail.
    Basically I have a main 'menu' of category thumbnails that link to an instance in the timeline that displays the initial large image for that category, and allows the user to mouseover the other thumbnails to see the large images, and then click to go to a specific URL for more information.
    The trouble I have with my rusty, limited AS knowledge is how to effeciently write the AS so that the image swap works. I quickly ran into a wall trying to acomplish this using a very OLD method that would require a LOT of jumping around the timeline.  If there is ANYTHING out there that can help me figure out how to do this efficiently, I would very much appreciate the help.
    Thanks in advance

    that's really what I'm asking, is if there is any such AS to do this.... I would normally do it just using CSS & HTML, but I have to keep it all contained within one page, I can't click to a new page from the opening scene to show the sub category of graphics. I figured I could set the opening scene up easily with a goto frame label 'category 1'.... then at category one is where I need to figure out what to do to swap the images....
    If I keep it very simple with no fade effects or anything, yes I could just jump to a frame and back, and so on.... Instead of animating all the different elements, is there a way to activate an instance of a mc,  like a white to transparent fade, and just have that animate in place and out, chaning the images in a layer below it while it's in place?  I'm really green to AS so I may be talking outta my ear on this,
    your feedback is greatly appreciated.

  • [Help Plz]Image URL in PDF

    Hello,
    We have a report to produce using IText API
    Everything is fine in test phase but few days ago we tryied to test the report using the server name ALIAS and we get error :/
    Server returned HTTP error code 503, I search in the net and I found that it's due to a temporary inavailability of the server but It still not working so we tried to find another solution :
    I used the code below :
    //url is the dynamically generated url of the image.
    java.awt.Image awtImg = java.awt.Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage(url);
    //I get error here
    com.lowagie.text.Image image2 = com.lowagie.text.Image.getInstance(awtImg, null);
    document.add(image2);
    but I get the following error : java.awt.Image fetch aborted or errored
    I search in the internet, too many people asking the same question but no one seems to have the answer
    (people facing the same problem say that the problem is due to the fact that we have an url in parameter).
    When I try to access the image on the server using the generated url (copy paste to the browser), it works, I can see the image.
    Any ideas? Any suggestions?
    It's really important.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello Saleem Mohammed,
    Thanks a lot for your reply.
    For the storage of image in database, I'm not sure that we can do that but for using the image from KM, I'll try it on a server which have a unique node.
    When you say "read image from KM", you mean hardcode the KM image url, is that right?
    For the http code error 503, I got it when using the code below :
    com.lowagie.text.Image image = com.lowagie.text.Image.getInstance(url);
    document.add(image);
    The code I've mentionned in my previous post returned the error : java.awt.Image fetch aborted or errored
    Again, thanks a lot for your help.

  • So frustrated! Need help positioning image...

    Hi folks...
    I am learning CSS in fits and starts, and clearly I don't have a good enough grasp on it. I hope someone can help me.
    I created this page, and tried to place an image in the large "main content" area to the right of the slideshow. It didn't work, kept getting shifted elsewhere. So I specified it as the background image for that div instead... It looks fine in Firefox and Safari (I'm on a Mac), however, a colleague with Internet Explorer 7 on a PC says that it shows up way down at the bottom of the page after the slideshow
    I've looked at all the ways to insert the image but none of them work. I know I must be missing something very simple. Can anyone help?

    Here's the URL... http://greatdiamondrentals.com/index.html
    The width of your #mainConent <div> is too wide hence in IE it is displaced to beneath the side bar.
    Change it to 560px wide and also add float: left; as shown below:
    .twoColFixLtHdr #mainContent {
        height: 579px;
        width: 560px;
        float: left;
        margin-top: 0;
        margin-right: 0;
        margin-bottom: 0;
        padding-top: 0;
        padding-right: 0px;
        padding-bottom: 0;
        padding-left: 0px;
        margin-left: 0px;
        background-image: url(images/GDRmaincontent.jpg);
        background-position: right top;
        background-repeat: no-repeat;
      background-color:#609;
