hi this is seshagiri. iam very new to sap xi.if any body will help in proxies its better for me.Actually my doubt in proxies is if we r having file to abap proxy scenario, then how the message is picking from the source and where this message wil be kept in the sap r/3 system while using proxies either it is sender or receiver proxy.i want complete scenario help.

if R/3 is sending proxies it is called client proxy it is also called outbound proxy
if R/3 is Receving proxy it is called server proxy it is also called inbound proxy

Proxy are used when u wanted to send the R3 data which is fetched from R3 table to some legacy system or any other systems. that is called client proxy or outbound proxy similarly if u wanted to update the R3 table with the data which is coming from any source system that time we go for Server proxy which inbound proxy.
There are two different uses for the ABAP proxy runtime:
u2022 You want to exchange messages with the Exchange Infrastructure Integration Server by using ABAP proxies. To send a message to the Integration Server, use a client proxy. To provide a service on the SAP Web AS that can be addressed by messages from the Integration Server, use a server proxy.
u2022 You want to call a Web service in the Internet and have generated a client proxy for this purpose. For a description of how Web services are used, see ABAP Web Services.

Help with proxies on Mac OS X 10.5.8, please.

I am wirelessly connected to my home network through airport. I need to use a proxy on my mac but when I go to proxies section under network I can't select a protocal to configure, click secure web server, and can't change any settings because it simply will not let me. My "bypass proxy settings for these hosts and domains:" field is "*.local, 169/254/16". So what I need to know is how to be able to change my information for accessing the internet under proxies in network. Thanks in advance.

It depends on whether you already have existing IDocs/RFCs in the Sender/Receiver or not. If yes, then you need to examine the feasibility of changing the existing logic from RFC/Idoc, to pushing RFC/Idoc data through Proxy.
If you are starting from scraqtch, it is always possible (and best) to use proxies. There is no need of adapters there.

Proxies for Mac OS X have been shut down. Please help!

all my proxies have been shut down in mac osx. im trying to find automatic proxy config and i need a .pac file. where would i get one? i am a newb when it comes to proxies so i need all the help i can get. i want to enable HTTP and HTTPS proxies and any others that i may need. please help.

HelsBels1986, first power the computer down, now wait a few minutes until the machine is complete settled. Now press the startup button and restart while holding down the Option key. This should Open Startup Manager and give you a choice of startup disks, choose the Tiger Disk as your startup drive. Once the disk mount choose English, then go up to the Main Menu to Utilities and scroll down to Disk Utility. Once DU opens choose your start up drive in the upper hand column of the window an run Disk Repair from First Aid in the upper Tabs. Now check the SMART Status of your hard drive at the bottom of the window, it should say Verified. Next select your startup volume in the left column and run Repair Permissions.
If all checks out go back up to the Main Menu/Utilities/Startup Drive and choose your hard drive and choose Restart.

Proxies communicate with the XI server by means of native SOAP calls over HTTP .RFC does not, so you have to convert from SOAP to RFC calls and vice versa. So XML conversion is required.
ABAP Proxies uses Webservice and Http Protocols. And if you use RFC it is mainly meant for Sync. call. But Proxies is used for both Sync and Async.
If you use ABAP Proxy , you can reduce the overhead calling the function again and again.

If u generate proxy for outbound interface then its client proxy and for inbound interface its server proxy.
In client proxy u can call the method to send messages but u can't modify it but in server proxy its possible to write a user code within the method to execute proxy.
CLIENT PROXY:
A WSDL description from a UDDI server (or an Internet page) is usually used to make a service executable in the Internet and to describe the interface of this service. You require a client proxy and not a server proxy to call this service by using the Web service infrastructure.
SERVER PROXY:
You can only generate ABAP server proxies from a WSDL description if they originate in the Integration Repository.You can also generate server proxies for Java and client proxies for ABAP from message interfaces.

Help understanding ABAP Proxies

Can someone point me to documentation to help understand ABAP proxies? What they are, why I would use them and what are the considerations in using them over BAPI's or IDOCS? I had a recent discussion with someone who is choosing to not use them because of security considerations.

What you need is not a mixer, but an audio interface with at least 4 mic inputs. There is a lot of choice there, but you should indicate a budget. You can go from, say, € 300 to € thousands, if you want.

However, there are other options (like multi-out mixer plus multi in interface, or standalone mic preamps plus interface with 4 inputs, etc). I have little experience using these however so I really cannot say much about which one(s) to get. The two mentioned above both have four mic preamps, but they are by no means the only way to do it.
The cheapest solution I can think of is to get a second 1204USB, plug it in, and in OS X create an Aggregate device (=the two are being merged into 'one virtual' interface with two discrete stereo (= four discrete mono) inputs. Disadvantage: you keep the same (limited) soundquality of the 16 bits convertors. Proxies: are interfaces which will get executed in the application system.They can be created only in the system from message interfaces using the proxy generation functions.
The biggest advantage of the proxy is that it always by passes the Adapter Engine and will directly interact with the application system and Integration engine - so it will and should give us a better performance.
The literal definition of a proxy is an object / process authorized to act for another; an agent or a substitute. In simpler terms, proxies in the XI context are objects used to encapsulate the creation (from a sender system) or parsing of XML (at a receiver system) as well as the communication with the relevant runtime components required to send or receive those messages. The Proxy Runtime controls these objects / processes, and can itself be controlled by the applications it communicates with.
The Proxy currently has the following components available:
1. ABAP Proxy Communication using XI or Web Services
2. Java Proxy Communication using XI (J2EE)
