  • Creation of tables using JDBC or SQLJ in webdynpro application

    Hi,
    I am trying to create tables in javadictionary(MaxDB)using my WebDynpro application.I tried creating tables using SQLJ and JDBC.But I was not able to do it.I can select and insert data into already created tables.
    Whwn I tried creating a table using JDBC I encountered the following exception.
    com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException: The SQL statement "CREATE TABLE TMP_DEPID (DEPID varchar(10) NOT NULL,DEPNAME VARCHAR(25))" contains the syntax error[s]: Open SQL syntax error: CREATE ... TABLE is not supported
    SQL syntax error: "VARCHAR" is a reserved keyword and cannot be used as an unquoted identifier
    Does this mean that creating tables is not supported?
    Can anyone help me in this matter?

    Hi Pradeep,
    Yes, OpenSQL does not support creation of tables. But why would you need to create tables at runtime?! The natural way is to create the model at design time of your application, i.e. with the Java DataDictionary.
    However, if for any reason you really need to create database tables at runtime, you can achieve this by using a non-OpenSQL datasource, e.g. you could create a VendorSQL one and use it to obtain JDBC connections in your app. See also http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/c0/3ad4d5cdc66447a188b582aad537d3/frameset.htm.

    I have been told to work out the space needed for the creation of a table.

  • Creating a simple 3 column table structure

    Good afternoon.
    I have been trying to create a simple 3 column table structure. A task which should typically take no longer than 15 minutes to design and populate has taken over two hours! (The final structure is acceptable but not ideal).
    Creating the design whilst applying the style Default Table Style - Light,  the content of each column and row are all equally aligned.
    However, when applying either of these styles; Table Style 1 - Clear or
    Table Style 2 - Light Banded,  (light banded is my preference) the alignment of each column and row 'fall apart'. I.e. the content within the left column displays half way down the page, the content within the middle column  at the top
    and the content within the right column at the bottom of the page???
    Adding and removing carriage returns help to a degree but is not ultimately agreeable to achieving an equally structured table design.
    I am rather new to SharePoint design and after exhausting all efforts and considerable time, I need to request assistance please.

    The table structure created in Word retains it's integrity when pasted into a SharePoint page.
    Is there anyway I can also retain the background colour of individual table columns? Specifying such colours in Word; this feature is lost when the table is pasted into a SharePoint page.

  • Creating a new Search Help on a standard SAP table field?

    Good day, everyone!
    As part of a report I am writing, the customer would like to have Search Help added to the AUFEX field in table AUFK.  They would like this functionality so that when they are changing an order via t-code ko02, they can get a list of valid values to put in field AUFEX.  I would like to tie it to a zTable I've created; in my zTable, I have just 2 fields:  a key value (that will go into AUFEX) and a text description of the key value.  This zTable is used in my report.
    While I've created a Search Help on this table already for table maintenance, I've never added a custom Search Help to an existing standard SAP table field before.  I've done some Googling and other searching to see what I need to know, but I've only been able to find information on Collective Search Helps.  AUFEX doesn't yet have a Search Help field, so I don't think Collective Search Helps is my answer.
    Is this possible?  Can I add a custom Search Help to a standard SAP table field that doesn't have any Search Help linked to it yet?  Is there an existing thread or guide somewhere that can tell me how to do this?

    Yes u can: u can assign the search help to (A) data element livel or (B) field table livel.
    After creating your search help:
    A) Run SE11, insert your data element (AUFEX), press edit and insert the search help in "Search Help" area on DEFINATION tab;
    B) Run SE11, insert your table (AUFK), press edit, place the cursor on your field (AUFEX) and go to GoTo->Search help->for field
    But u should consider it'll mean to change a standard object for both cases: so u need to get the access key from your OSS.

    In My Application i have a table with multiple rows(Rows are Dynamically added to the table).First i am setting the table with the following properties:
    width:900px;
    height : auto,
    Overflow : visible,
    Max-height: : 200px.
    If I use above properties,I'm getting a table with 5 or 6 rows(height upto 200px).After that i am getting the Vertical ScrollBar.
    The problem is when a table has many columns, Vertical and Horizontal Scrolls are coming at the time of setting the table. The table height is not Increasing dynamically.
    How can i use "height" property in CSS? (I want the table height to be increased when the columns are more.)

    Hey humble user. Errr I'm trying to understand what ur trying to do. U want to create a section of a region destructively from an existing region right? If so select the option convert to new region (opt-comm-R or selecting it by right clicking). Check your audio bin to make sure. Whats the "merge" function? Are u refering to the glue tool?

    I have a small question regaridng the creation of Table type.
    Let us suppose I am creating Table type for a custom table zsample which is having 5 fields. I am generally creating a structure similar to custom table and using that structure as line type for the table type. Let us suppose if there are any changes in the custom table like change in the order of fields or if new fields are added the table type will give dump.
    My question is If I use the custom table itself as a line type, will there be any effect in the performance or some thing or I can go ahead and use it..

    What dump are you expecting ???
    It is idea behind the creation with reference to get structures and tables which always look like
    the tables they refer to.
    I can not see a possibilty for a dump as long as you create only an internal table.
    A dump could appear, if the internal table is later used to update another db-table. But there it should be clear that the structure of an internal should be created with reference to the tables which they change.

    I have created the help view for join two tables and that help view was  called in the selection method for creating search help of the custom table field. since it has show inthe selection screen , it is fetching only one table entries. and the shown entries are displaying but not passing.

    1. Try your view with SE16/SE16N to see if it really finds what you expect
    2. Use the same data elements in help view as on selection screen
    3. read documentation and F1 help on all fields you see in the search help definition - especially only field marked as EXPORT parameter will be put back on screen.
    But, sincerely, I don't know what your selection-screen looks like.

    Collective search helps:- Combination of elementary search helps. When we need to fetch data based on multiple selection criteriau2019s. More than one tables are Selection from multiple tables 
    Steps for creating collective search help.
    1) Enter the search help name and click on create.
    2) Choose Collective search help radio button option as the search help type.
    3) Enter the search help parameters.
    Note that there is no selection method to be entered for a collective search help.
    4) Instead of the selection method, we enter the included search helps for the collective search help.
    5)We need to assign parameters for each of the included search helps.
    6) Complete the parameter assignment by clicking on the push button.
    7) Collective search help offers the user to obtain F4 help using any of the included search helps.

    Hi,
    I don't think you can directly link any search help with BEDNR without modification. If a search help was already linked, we could have gone for append search help. But in this case, nothing is there. So the options would be,
    see whether you can insert any search help through enhancements in the screens..You have to do it in every screen then.
    Other option is create a database view, & replace the dataelement with your own with a search help. You can refer this view after that.
    or go for modification & change the dataelement.
