Just Check if you are calling some method of class cl_gui_frontend_services with some wrong parameters. Put a braek point where you are triggering this method and chk.
Hope this helps.

  • ODS activation, short dump COMPUTE_INT_PLUS_OVERFLOW. How to solve?

    Hello Gurus,
    We are on BW 3.1.
    We have an issue - ODS activation failed due to a short dump.
    Runtime Error          COMPUTE_INT_PLUS_OVERFLOW
    Exception              CX_SY_ARITHMETIC_OVERFLOW
    Since the caller of the procedure could not have expected this exception
    to occur, the running program was terminated.
    The reason for the exception is:
    In the current program "SAPLRSSM_PROCESS",
    using + or 'ADD' to add the values 2137304138 and 12410267 resulted in a
    value greater than 2147483647 or samller than -2147483648. This
    leads to a whole number overflow.
    Could you please guide me to solve this?
    Please let me know if you need more details.
    Thanks,
    raj

    This dump is happening because of the overflow of the size assigned for the variable.
    This dump can be avoided by changing the declaration of the variable definition.
    DATA: variable_name type p decimals 0.
                              OR
    DATA: varibale_name(25) type n decimals 0
    Try this. This will resolve your dump.

  • Need help regarding short dumps in BW

    hi all,
    We have a problem in our production.Thousands of short dumps have been created in a day stating
    "Runtime Errors         DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR
    Exception              CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB"
    =====================
    An exception occurred. This exception is dealt with in more detail below
    . The exception, which is assigned to the class 'CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB', was
    neither
    caught nor passed along using a RAISING clause, in the procedure "INSERT_ODS"
    "(FORM)"
    Since the caller of the procedure could not have expected this exception
    to occur, the running program was terminated.
    The exception must either be prevented, caught within the procedure
    "INSERT_ODS"
    "(FORM)", or declared in the procedure's RAISING clause.
    To prevent the exception, note the following:
    Database error text........: "ORA-14400: inserted partition key does not map to
    any partition"
    ===================
    The RSRV check shows "Inconsistency: High value for table /BIC/B0000xxx000: 0002 ; PARTNO value in RSTSODS: 010."
    When a repair was run on this table the short dumps stopped.Is there any other steps that should be taken to avoid such dumps in future/is there something that we have missed to maintainin in BW.
    Please explain in detail, it will be of great help.
    Thanks

    Hi All,
    Thanks a lot for the valuable messages.
    So when all these stated notes are followed, and if in future if a simillar problem comes, the recovery step would be running the RSRV test and repair on the particular object?
    Thanks once again.

  • Explicit Search Helps Short-Dump in Editable ALV with included structure

    I have an editable ALV grid defined as follows:
      TYPES: BEGIN OF gs_outtab200.
        TYPES: row_indx(4)      TYPE n.
        TYPES: multipurp        TYPE c.
        INCLUDE structure zxrfwc_test.
      TYPES: end of gs_outtab200.
      DATA:
        gt_outtab200             TYPE TABLE OF gs_outtab200,
        wa_outtab200             TYPE gs_outtab200.
    The included structure zxrfwc_test has a component (field) which is defined with a data element that has an explicit search helps associated with it.
    I know that this search help is working properly because it works fine in the program's selection screen.
    But when I invoke the search help from within a column of the ALV itself, I get a short dump with a "GETWA_NOT_ASSIGNED" error.
    I have done plenty of editable ALVs with search helps defined on the data elements and never encountered this problem.
    Am I hitting this problem because the zxrfwc_test structure is defined within the
    gs_outtab200 structure ??
    If not, what is causing this problem.  (Please note that I have set  ls_fcat-F4AVAILABL = 'X' in the fieldcat routine - this doesn't seem to help at all.)
    Please advise!!!!
    I'm really stuck on this one because it's always worked before when I'm not dealing with a dictionary structure that's included within a larger ALV structure.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    How you are creating your field catalog?
    Try to create a field catalog in the following way giving reference to your structure. is it possible for you create a DDIC structure as same as
    TYPES: BEGIN OF gs_outtab200.
        TYPES: row_indx(4)      TYPE n.
        TYPES: multipurp        TYPE c.
        INCLUDE structure zxrfwc_test.
      TYPES: end of gs_outtab200.
    * Form f_generate_fieldcatalog                                         *
    * Form generate the field catalog table                                *
    form f_generate_fieldcatalog.
    * Private variable
      data : v_structure like dd02l-tabname.   " Table Name
      v_structure = c_yatt_alv.                      " Structure Name
    * Build the fieldcat according to DDIC structure YATT_ALV:
      call function 'LVC_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE'
        exporting
          i_structure_name       = v_structure
          i_client_never_display = c_x
        changing
          ct_fieldcat            = i_fieldcat[].
    endform.                                 " F_generate_fieldcatalog

  • Short Dump on using SORT of the options given in a F4 Help.

    Hi,
    We are using AT SELECTION SCREEN ON VALUE REQUEST.
    And function module F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST to display the F4 help for a parameter on the selection screen. The F4 Help is displayed properly but when we use a sort on the displayed options the program gives a short dump. The short dump shown in the MACROS used in the standard search help program. in SAPLSDH4->LSDH4F09 in the following macros:
      DEFINE do_assign.
        field-symbols <f&1> type any.
        read table dfies_tab assigning <dfies> index &1.
        if sy-subrc = 0.
          perform get_type_leng using <dfies> changing t len.
          if t = 'P'.
            assign <x>+<dfies>-offset(len) to <f&1>
                   type t decimals <dfies>-decimals.
          else.
            assign <x>+<dfies>-offset(len) to <f&1>
                   type t.
          endif.

    Hi,
    to open a data set, you need to have the path for the application server file, to see the application server files. goto AL11 transaction code, there you will find the directories then inside it you will find sub directories then you will find the file names, there you need to open the file using the open datasets ..
    you have written DATA : FNAME(90) VALUE 'j:/ hai.txt'. , but this is not a application server file name, just goto AL11 then you will find the file names and give the correct path
    Regards
    Sudheer

    function module from the display of active calls.
    How to correct the error
    If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
    find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
    If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
    keywords:
    "RAISE_EXCEPTION" " "
    "CL_EXITHANDLER================CP" or "CL_EXITHANDLER================CM001"
    "GET_INSTANCE"
    or
    "CL_EXITHANDLER================CP" "DATA_INCONS_IN_EXIT_MANAGEM"
    or
    "SAPLS_IMG_TOOL_5 " "DATA_INCONS_IN_EXIT_MANAGEM"
    If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
    notification to SAP, include the following information:
    1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
    To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
    (Unconverted)".
    2. Corresponding system log

  • BCS Release Request Short dump

    Hello,
    I'm trying to release my costumizing request, that contains the SEM-BCS configuration, although i'm getting a short-dump.
    The description is as follows:
    Short text
        Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.
    What happened?
        Error in the ABAP Application Program
        The current ABAP program "CL_UG_MD_TR_METHOD_EXPORT=====CP" had to be
         terminated because it has
        come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
    Error analysis
        You attempted to use a 'NULL' object reference (points to 'nothing')
        access a component (variable: " ").
        An object reference must point to an object (an instance of a class)
        before it can be used to access components.
        Either the reference was never set or it was set to 'NULL' using the
        CLEAR statement.
    How to correct the error
        If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
        find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
        If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
        keywords:
        "OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED" " "
        "CL_UG_MD_TR_METHOD_EXPORT=====CP" or "CL_UG_MD_TR_METHOD_EXPORT=====CM003"
        "UGMD_EXTRACT_SID_2"
    Information on where terminated
        Termination occurred in the ABAP program "CL_UG_MD_TR_METHOD_EXPORT=====CP" -
         in "UGMD_EXTRACT_SID_2".
        The main program was "RDDM0001 ".
        In the source code you have the termination point in line 62
        of the (Include) program "CL_UG_MD_TR_METHOD_EXPORT=====CM003".

    Hi Ricardo,
    You tried to transport the BCS' configuration, right?
    If in the request was the full set of settings from the start of the project, the it will definitely fail.
    There are some restrictions in BCS transport. See, for example the OSS Note #627924 - 'Restrictions with transport in BW-based SEM-BCS'. It particularly says:
    "For the initial system setup, and after substantial changes in the data model, you should transport the Customizing by means of manually created transport requests. We advise you not to use the automatic recording of all Customizing settings during the first implementation phase in the development system and not to use this request for the structure of the test and productive systems.
    During the transport of a new consolidation area, the following settings should be transported in the following sequence:
    1. Data basis
    2. Consolidation area
    3. Special versions
    After the import of the data basis and the consolidation area, these settings should be checked in the target system. In particular, the RFC destination, the InfoCubes and ODS objects, as well as the InfoObjects. Note that RFC destinations, InfoCubes, ODS objects, virtual cubes and InfoObjects cannot be transported from the consolidation workbench with the transport functions. For instance, you have to transport and activate the InfoCubes and InfoObjects using the BW."
    I usually transport the BCS setting in a little transport requests in this order:
    - all BW objects and settings
    - data basis (with source DB)
    - cons area
    - special versions
    - versions
    - master data
    ...etc.
    Hope this helps.

    What is Short Dump Analysis ?
    2.) What is secendry index , How to use it ? How it effects the Performance of a report ?
    Please it is urgent ...

    Hi
    A dump analysis is a comprehensive list that should enable you to identify the causes and possible solutions of program errors. The ABAP Workbench generates a short dump whenever a report or transaction terminates due to a serious error. The system enters the error in the system log and writes a snapshot of the program at the moment when it terminated into a special database table called SNAP.
    Dump analyses give the user or programmer information about the causes of the error that has caused the program to terminate. Experienced users can use them to identify very quickly where and why this occurred. He or she can them solve the problem.
    The snapshot contains the following information:
    Why the program has terminated
    What caused the program termination
    Where in the program code the termination occurred
    What you can do to correct the error
    The values of the relevant system fields when the program terminated
    The calls or events that were active when the program terminated
    Any other programs that are affected.

    Index: Technical key of a database table.
    Primary index: The primary index contains the key fields of the table and a pointer to the non-key fields of the table. The primary index is created automatically when the table is created in the database.
    Secondary index: Additional indexes could be created considering the most frequently accessed dimensions of the table.
    Structure of an Index
    An index can be used to speed up the selection of data records from a table.
    An index can be considered to be a copy of a database table reduced to certain fields. The data is stored in sorted form in this copy. This sorting permits fast access to the records of the table (for example using a binary search). Not all of the fields of the table are contained in the index. The index also contains a pointer from the index entry to the corresponding table entry to permit all the field contents to be read.
    When creating indexes, please note that:
    An index can only be used up to the last specified field in the selection! The fields which are specified in the WHERE clause for a large number of selections should be in the first position.
    Only those fields whose values significantly restrict the amount of data are meaningful in an index.
    When you change a data record of a table, you must adjust the index sorting. Tables whose contents are frequently changed therefore should not have too many indexes.
    Make sure that the indexes on a table are as disjunctive as possible.
    (That is they should contain as few fields in common as possible. If two indexes on a table have a large number of common fields, this could make it more difficult for the optimizer to choose the most selective index.)
    Accessing tables using Indexes
    The database optimizer decides which index on the table should be used by the database to access data records.
    You must distinguish between the primary index and secondary indexes of a table. The primary index contains the key fields of the table. The primary index is automatically created in the database when the table is activated. If a large table is frequently accessed such that it is not possible to apply primary index sorting, you should create secondary indexes for the table.
    The indexes on a table have a three-character index ID. '0' is reserved for the primary index. Customers can create their own indexes on SAP tables; their IDs must begin with Y or Z.
    If the index fields have key function, i.e. they already uniquely identify each record of the table, an index can be called a unique index. This ensures that there are no duplicate index fields in the database.
    When you define a secondary index in the ABAP Dictionary, you can specify whether it should be created on the database when it is activated. Some indexes only result in a gain in performance for certain database systems. You can therefore specify a list of database systems when you define an index. The index is then only created on the specified database systems when activated

  • Short dump-internal table size issue

    Hi,
    I get the following message in the short dump analysis for a report.
    No storage space available for extending table "IT_920".
    You attempted to extend an internal table, but the required space was not available.
    Error Analysis:
    The internal table "IT_920" could not be enlarged further.
    To extend the internal table, 9696 bytes of storage space was
    needed, but none was available. At this point, the table "IT_920" has
    1008240 entries.
    Its an old report and I saw the internal table declaration using the "OCCURS" clause in the internal table declaration.
    begin of itab occurs 100.
    end of itab.
    I tried the option of changing to "OCCURS 0", still issue persists.
    Any help would be highly appretiated
    CM

    Hello CMV,
    This is basic problem with SAP internal tables. For every internal table memory is alocated ( Max..256K)...once you cross the memory size/limit of the internal table it resuls in short dump.
    Only way to overcome this problem is handle limited number of records at a time..
    Please refer following sample code which will help you to avoid short dump while processing large number of records....
      SORT TAB_RESULT.
      DESCRIBE TABLE TAB_RESULT LINES W_RECORDS.
      W_LOW      = 1.
      W_UP       = 1000.
    *Spliting the records from tab_result1 by pakage of 1000 at a time
    *to avoid short dump in case of more records
      WHILE W_LOW <= W_RECORDS.
        R_PKUNWE-SIGN = 'I'.
        R_PKUNWE-OPTION = 'EQ'.
        R_WERKS-SIGN = 'I'.
        R_WERKS-OPTION = 'EQ'.
        LOOP AT TAB_RESULT FROM W_LOW TO W_UP.
          MOVE TAB_RESULT-PKUNWE TO R_PKUNWE-LOW.
          MOVE TAB_RESULT-WERKS  TO  R_WERKS-LOW.
          APPEND R_PKUNWE.
          APPEND R_WERKS.
        ENDLOOP.
    *fetch sold to party
         SELECT KUNNR NAME1
           FROM KNA1
           APPENDING CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE TAB_KNA1
           WHERE KUNNR IN R_PKUNWE.
    *fetch plant
      SELECT WERKS NAME1
             FROM T001W
             APPENDING CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE TAB_T001W
             WHERE WERKS IN R_WERKS.
       REFRESH: R_PKUNWE,
                R_WERKS.
        W_LOW = W_LOW + 1000.
        W_UP  = W_UP  + 1000.
      ENDWHILE.
    Hope this will help you to solve problem.
    Cheers,
    Nilesh
