Hi
Rightly said, the problem is a NullPointer some where in your JSP code. The best way to approach this problem is to look at the Generated .java file (Servlet) for this JSP. Since you are using Tomcat the generated file will be under the "work" directory. The name of the file is :
_0002fjsp_0002fmqid_0002fquantidade_0002fquantidade_00032_0002ejspquantidade2_jsp_0.java:79) indicated through the stack trace printed out. The problem line is line number 79.
A NullPointerException should be very easilyy identifiable once you know which line is causing it.
Keep me posted on your progress.
Good Luck!

  • Where can I find help on Servlet Errors ?

    Hello world.
    I'm just the newbie of the day.
    Trying to get acquainted with J2EE and Java, I have successfully deployed my first application. That was month ago, though.
    Used to work well .. until I migrated to WebSphere.
    No I receive an error message. Not that I'm not used to that :-) but so far I have failed miserably in my attempts to get further information on the cause and remedies for my error / exception.
    Where should I look?
    [If you like to give direct assistance:
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException:
    JSPG0050E: Aufzunehmendes Dateiargument ungltig
    this translates into something like "Invalid File argument". Ho. Thank you. Which file? Why invalid? :-)
    Any help, hints or pointers greatly appreciated.
    [email protected]

    I suggest you check the WebSphere documentation. They use apache and this is a problem in the setup somewhere. Sorry, I cannot be more helpful. But, apache and Websphere are not Sun products. Look at IBM's site for Websphere - they have a good documenation lookup and Jakarta organization site for apache doc.

  • Please help with SSL POST: Servlet returns Error 500

    I am struggling for many days to get a Java program to log in to an SSL page. The program is supposed to track ADSL usage statistics from https://secure.telkomsa.net/titracker/, but I never seem to get around Server returned Error 500.
    Could anyone please help me understand what I am doing wrong by looking at the method I used. (It seems on the server side it is a jsp servlet that handles authentication).
    Any help is deeply appreciated!
    I copy-paste the method directly from NetBeans:

  • Servlet I/O Stream problem: cannot write into file, error 500

    I am a new Java developer and now, I am facing a problem regarding the error 500. I try to grab records from a table with a date as a constraint. There are two servlets involed: a) saveRecord and b) getRecord. Servlet getRecord will grab data from a database while another servlet, saveRecord will get the data from servlet getRecord and save it into a file. The codes are as below:
    =========================================================================================================================================
    // Servlet Name : saveRecord
    BufferedInputStream instr     = null;
    BufferedOutputStream outstr     = null;
    PostMethod http_post          = null;
    http_post = new PostMethod("getRecord");
    http_client.executeMethod(http_post);
    instr     = new BufferedInputStream(http_post.getResponseBodyAsStream());
    outstr     = new BufferedOutputStream(new FileOutputStream("c:\student.csv"), false));
    int byte_at;
    while (-1 != (byte_at = instr.read())) {
         outstr.write(byte_at);
    =========================================================================================================================================
    // Servlet Name : getRecord
    ServletOutputStream out     = response.getOutputStream();
    StringBuffer str_buf     = new StringBuffer();
    str_buf = generateStudentAc();
    out = response.getOutputStream();
    FileStream(out, response, str_buf);
    // Function Called
    private StringBuffer generateStudentAc() {
         StringBuffer str_buf = new StringBuffer();
         String date = "2000-01-01";
         statement = connection.createStatement();
         resultset = statement.executeQuery("SELECT NAME, ADDRESS FROM STUDENT WHERE DATE>'" + date + "';
         // Write column headers
    str_buf.append("NAME,ADDRESS");
    String data_row;
    while (resultset.next()) {
              data_row = "\n";
              data_row += "\"" + resultset.getString("STUDENT") + "\"";
              data_row += ",\"" + resultset.getString("ADDRESS") + "\"";
              // Write row
              str_buf.append(data_row);
         return str_buf;
    // Function called
    private void FileStream(ServletOutputStream out, HttpServletResponse response, StringBuffer str_buf) {
         BufferedOutputStream buf_out = null;
    // Create input/output streams
         buf_out     = new BufferedOutputStream(out);
         int length     = str_buf.length();
         // Read/Write
         for (int i = 0; i < length; i++) {
              buf_out.write(str_buf.charAt(i));
    =========================================================================================================================================
    Then, the result will be post back to a JSP page. It didn't work when the records in database growing bigger ( > 100 000 records) but works nice while the records are still in a small quantities ( < 20 000 records). It seems that no record can be inserted into the file and the JSP page becomes blank. When I opened the csv file, I found a message"Error 500:" inside it.
    Hope you all experts can help to figure out this problem. TQ

    I am amatuer in Java Programming, so I don't know how to implement serializable interface but I will look through it.
    However, as I mention before, the code run perfectly if there are not much records un the table. But once there are more and more table added in (> 1000 000 records) in the table, it becomes unstable - sometime it works but most of the time it doesn't. So, I didn't find any different event I replaced the code with String date = "=2000-01-01".
    Anyway, thanks for your help.

  • 'Error: 500 SC_INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR' after init() and before doGet() method in servlet.

    Hi to you all,
    I have been working with ias6.0 sp2 on Unix.
    I have a simple web application with servlets and packaged auxiliary classes. Deployment seems all good. But when I try to call my first servlet with URL, I get this message on the navigator : "Error: 500 SC_INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR
    null ".
    In the log file, I have that :
    "error: Exception: SERVLET-execution_failed: Error in executing servlet myServlet: java.lang.NullPointerException [...]
    at com.netscape.server.servlet.servletrunner.ServletInfo.checkAuthorization (Unknown source)
    error: APPLOGIC-caught_exception: Caught Exception:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at com.netscape.server.servlet.servletrunner.ServletInfo.popPrincipalFromTLD (Unknown source )
    My application works well with iws. So, what's up ?
    The init() method is executed, but not the doGet() one.
    Well, hear you soon !
    Paul-Emile

    Hi,
    Although it is difficult to point out the place where the error exactly occurs, I can suggest the reasons. The possible place for error to occur normally lies in the database connectivity. When the HttpServlet is not able to communicate with the database or encountered errors while communicating with the database. Please let me know if this helps.
    Regards
    Raj

  • 500 Internal Server Error  Servlet error: An exception occurred.

    Hi All,
    I was trying to access oracle applications. I installated R12 on Linux through VM Ware. I started Database Listener , Database and Finally Application Tier using adstrtal.sh. Every thing went fine with exit status as zero. I installed mozillla firefox and jre 1.6.0_07 but when I gave URL and tried to access applications i was getting 500 Internal server error.
    Below is the error
    500 Internal Server Error
    Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.

    I've a situation that, we have to add some pages into the APPS environment. For that, what we generally do is,
    1. Stop the Apache server.
    2. Add the pages.
    3. Start the Apache server again
    And it should start.
    But, In our case it's giving an internal server error.
    And as we run autoconfig its working fine.But as it is a test server, we've got to add the pages several times. Each and every time we add pages we have to run autoconfig.
    our environment is
    OS: IBM AIX 6
    APPS: release 11.5.10.2
    we can't understand what the problem is!!!
    Is the there any solution for that?
    Please do suggest, if any one experienced the same...

  • Connection problem(error 500), please help

    Hello Im a newbie to db connections with java
    ive written a servlet to acces mymy hsql db(sample):
    String dbURL = "jdbc:hsqldb:" + getServletContext().getRealPath("/~mazzok/myDB");
    Class.forName("org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver");
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL, "user", "pass");
    } catch (Exception e) {
    out.println("<br>ERROR: Could not connect to database<br>");
    out.print(e);
    Statement stat = null;
    try {
    stat = conn.createStatement();
    the problem is stat = conn.createStatement(); which throws a NullPointer exception(error 500)
    why is this the case, isnt the connection already running, when it comes to this line?
    I dont understand it quite..
    Pls could you help me?
    Regards
    maz

    stat = conn.createStatement();I guess that's because your conn==null. Make sure your dbURL value can build a correct connection.

    I'm using MI 2.5 and
    CrEme326_AX_CE42_PPC_minimal.CAB as the JVM for the mobile device.
    It would seem that the JVM doesn't have the Vector class or an updated version of it. But that's the JVM that SAP recommends (). I tried downloading a new version (4.0 b) of the JVM but it won't install on my device. What JVM is everyone else using?
    Thanks

    Hi Andreas,
      Did you modify any of the code?
    Check this site to see the api that the creme supports (jdk 1.1.3)
    http://www.science.uva.nl/ict/ossdocs/java/jdk1.1.3/docs/api/java.util.Vector.html#_top_
    I had the same problem and had to double check that the only methods and classes used are from that API.
    Hope this helps,
    Wael
