Help me configure my webserver to accept completed .pdf forms via free Acrobat Reader

OK, just purchased Acrobat Pro XI subscription, I have already created the following .pdf at the link below:
http://www.pdfdoctor.net/eca/creditapp004_02.pdf
on the last page I have a Submit button, that will send/upload the completed .pdf to my web server, the .pdf is working fine, I just need help configuring my server to accept the file submissions itself, such as the following:
1. what should be the directory file permissions?
2. do I need a htaccess file in that directory or in my main root directory and what should be in it, I HAVE NO IDEA, once I get this working then I will be set, please help, thankyou.

Submitting in HTML format is useful if you're only interested in the form data, but since your form includes digital signature fields, you will want to submit the entire PDF. Using multiple digital signature fields intended for different signers doesn't make much sense for a web form, unless you intend to serve a form that was signed by one person to then be signed by another.
If submitting the entire PDF, the script can save the entire incoming POSTed data to a file somewhere, in addition to all of the security-related things it needs to handle, and then return a response. As mentioned earlier, it is usually best if this response is an FDF. Here's a link to an introduction to some of the basic concepts: Working with Form Data in Acrobat X | Acrobat Community TV | Adobe TV
starting at the 9:50 mark. It deals with submitting in HTML format, but it should get you started.

  • Button to send filled out form as completed pdf form via email

I have created a form that when filled out, should send the form by email to the recipient as a completed pdf form. It works with Adobe Acrobat but not Reader.
    Any Ideas?
form can be found at:  http://www.lcyc.ca/images/stories/macman2012/macmanentry.pdf

    Check out:
    http://www.nk-inc.com/macmanentry.pdf
Use your real name, and e-mail address in the PDF form fields, and recieve a customized email copy and response.
The script will parse and merge the XDP submission, so there's no need to Reader Enable your forms.
PDFEmail.net works in ASP.net web servers.
Note: Do not submit sensitive information, this is just a demo. I may get a BCC of the form.

  • Completing PDF forms via web, but saving result on server

    Hi
I've been asked to design a system, where individuals are sent a request to complete a templated PDF form with a number of available fields. They complete the form and submit.
At this point I need to save the completed form on the application server behind the web server as PDF. This PDF is then shown to various individuals for authorising.
For security, it's important that the PDF is not saved to the desktop.
I'm fairly new to pdf toolset, so
    1. What is the best tool for authoring PDF templates where the ability print/save etc can be suppressed?
    2. Can the PDF template be sent back to the webserver to be saved?
    3. Do I need any other tool, plugins to achieve this?
    Thanks

Hi I have trouble returning a completed PDF form to sender - it looses my filled in info - how do I solve this?

Are there any dialog boxes popping up behind your Yahoo screen?
I have intermittent problems attaching files in Yahoo mail and this is usually the reason.  I'm also using an iMac (10.7.3) and this is likely the problem.
It is generally a Yahoo issue rather than a Mac problem.

  • How can recipients submit completed PDF forms using a MAC?

We have created fillable PDF forms using LiveCycle Designer 8.0.  They include
submit buttons that are set to submit the completed forms as PDFs.  Rights have been extended for Adobe Reader users.  They work great when the recipient is using a PC, but when they are using a MAC we have a number of problems:
    1) the Print and Submit buttons do not work
    2) when the recipient saves and e-mails the file manually, the data they entered is only visible when you click on that field
Help!  How can our MAC recipients submit their completed form as a PDF that displays all of the data!
    Thanks!

Thanks Niall.  This information proved really helpful in confirming the problem.  We ran some tests and the problem does seem to only occur when MAC recipients are using Preview.
We recieved this link from Adobe, which provides a solution if you have access to all the recipients:

  • Submitting completed PDF forms by email rather than responses in a table

Can I set up my PDF form with a submit button that will email the completed form to me - I don't want to see the responses collated in a table as I need to file each completed form electronically per client?

Yes, but it would not have anything to do with FormsCentral. The simplest way to do this is to use Acrobat to add a button that has a "Submit a form" action for the Mouse Up event. The URL should be a mailto type URL and you should select "PDF  The Complete document" as the Export Format:
If it needs to work with Reader prior to version 11 and/or includes digital signatures, you will have to Reader-enable the document with Acrobat. Exactly how you do that depends on which version you have:
Acrobat 9: Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader
Acrobat 10: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features
Acrobat 11: File > Save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)
Also, realize that submitting by email is not all that reliable. It simply won't work for many people as they don't have a desktop email client properly configured. There are also Acrobat licensing restrictions that come into play when you Reader-enable a document with Acrobat and make the form available to more than 500 recipients, as you do when posting to a web site. Submitting the form to a web server, as is done with FormsCentral, avoids these issues. If you need a filled-in form with FormsCentral, you can alsways export the form data and use various methods to populate a blank form. If you want to pursue this approach, post in the Acrobat Forms forum here.

  • Completed PDF form showing blank on iPad/iPhone

A few months back I asked for some help making some functionality on a PDF form work.  Here is the link to that post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/783271?tstart=0  I used a "read only" button/JavaScript to make the forms based on the help in the above post.  I discovered this weekend that the forms show up blank when viewed on an iPad or iPhone after they have been filled in and "locked" through the JavaScript button.  I did some quick Internet searches and found that completed Acrobat/Adobe forms have known issues displaying on the Apple iOS.  So based on this information, am I correct in my assumptions?  (I know my completed forms are not viewing correctly.)  Also, is there any fix for this issue?  Is there a workaround?  Am I just making my forms incorrectly?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I was going to just let it go and forget the iOS problem but I decided I would post here and see if anyone has some advice.
    Thanks

The problem is indeed the PDF viewer used in the iPhone does not support PDF forms. It is not related to how you created the form.
You can approach the problem in tow ways. Either use a PDF viewer on the iPhone/iPad that does support forms, or flattent the form before distributing it. The former approach may not be feasible, and the latter approach cannot work unless the person preparing the document has at least Acrobat Standard. Reader cannot flatten a form.

  • How to Save Completed PDF Form (Embedded in HTML)

We have a PDF Form which is displayed embedded in our HTML page (via a browser plugin).
The user can submit the Form from within the HTML page (the embedded frame with the PDF contains the whole form and the Submit button).
The toolbar on the Reader plugin shows the Save button, but when we click it, we get an error saying the document cannot be saved, only printed. Here is our issue:
    1) We need to allow the user to save the form locally,
    2) including their *completed data*
Is there any way to do this from within the plugin? Thanks

Only specially enabled forms can be saved with data in Reader. If you have Acrobat Standard or Pro you can save data in forms. Forms can only be enabled for saving with Reader using Acrobat or LiveCycle Reader Extensions.

  • Saving a completed PDF Form

My client's client (in Europe) cannot seem to save his completed form. He gets this message: Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records.
Unfortunately, I do not know what version of Acrobat, Reader or other PDF app they are using.
Is this a MAC/PC issue or Acrobat version issue?

Sounds like they are using an earlier version of Adobe Reader (not XI), in which case you'll need to reader-enable the form first so they can save the form data. File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF.

  • Please Help--Can't fill out or submit/save .PDF forms

    Hi-
Running Safari 5.1.2 on Mac OS 10.6.8 (the latest updates according to software update) and using the Schubert PDF browser plugin. http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/
Before updating from Safari 5.0.xxxx I could fill out and submit .PDF forms in Safari without any issues. Now, I cannot. The form comes up but I cannot enter any text into the text fields.
About a month ago I went through this and had to revert back from a time machine back up because the ability to fill out forms in browser is an everyday necessity for me.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?? Please help...

Ok.. I still cannot get this figured out. I'm baffled and frustrated!!
I did a deep cache cleaning using Snow Leopard Cash Cleaner, all of your reccomendations, and about an hours worth of reading. I had the schubert-it plug in uninstalled and have gone back to reinstalling it with no luck. I was thinking after all the cache cleaning it might work. Nope..
I can't beleive this is an issue after an update.. Apple is normally so great with this stuff.
The com.adobe.reader folder does not exist on my computer.
This problem occurs with any online form, not just the ones I need to access and submit, and it occurs with the native PDF support in Safari as well as the schubert app.
Any other ideas? I read on one post where someone fixed it with quicktime, but the video he put up to show how he fixed it was no longer available.
Carolyn, or anyone else, .. any ideas??

  • Completing PDF forms

Is there a way to make a PDF form complete able on line instead of printing it out and typing or handwriting in the information?

    Not with Reader no.
What WILL depends specifically on what you want to do. You want them to open it in the browser, fill it out and submit just the information to a server? Do you want them to open a form, fill it out and send you the entire form all filled out...etc?

  • Export completed PDF Form to New PDF ???

    Hello,
I have a USPS PDF that is filled out complete with all the needed information such as names, dates, weight, and so on. This is from July 2009, the USPS just came out the exact same form for 2010 and I want to know if there is a way to export the July 2009 form information to the 2010 sheet. They are the same sheet exactly just the date has changed ? I have acrobat 8 Pro.
    Thanks

For the data, you can also try an export to a data file (FDF typically) from the old form and then import the data to the new form.
The success would depend on the same field names being used.
I was going to suggest that too until I looked at the second form. It has no form fields.

  • Printing and sending completed forms with free adobe reader

How can readers fill forms and save the form for printing WITH their completed responses?
I've created forms and saved them as 'reader extended' expanded options but readers claim they print 'blank' where the form fields are.

I am using adobe professional and save as reader extended to allow for exactly what I need but the reader says the saved version with responses is blank when printed.
