You can use variable both in defininig row and coulmn or in general selection.
You can also use sets as variable or as constant. These sets can be your master data groups or sets in GS02.
You can use formulas. -
How to generate report from two tables using DAO design pattern?
Hi,
Iam using struts with DAO pattern for my application. According to DAO design im creating model class for each table in my database with getter, setter methods. i have no problem when im generating report from one table. but if have i have to join two tables whatis the better way for doing that? is it good practise to create a new model contains properties from both the tables?
Please help me
Thanks in Advance
RajeshDear Rajesh,
As per the pattern you are creating equivalent java objects for every database table under consideration in which each db field will become a private attribute and public getter and setter methods.
If you have to display data from one table the above approach is sufficient enough.
But in case your database is normalised ..lets take an example of Bank having Branch and Accounts tables. We dont need to repeat the whole information of the branch for every account in that branch. so we prefer to have a branch id in that table....this approach lot of insertion/deletion/updatation anomlies that may exists with the database...
now lets come back to our topic....we shall create two java objects 1) Branch 2) Account.....
When ever u just need to display simple report u can do it staright forward,,,,,now if u want to display branch information along with the account information....the two objects just created are not sufficient
So i suggest u the following approaches
1) Create an attribute of type Branch in the Accounts Object......
This shall serve the purpose of displaying the Btranch information
2) Create a collection object of type ( Vector or ArrayList) which can have objects of Account in the Branch Object,,,
Now its upto u how shall u fill up the objects with appropriate sql queries.
The method that i mentioned is followed by Oracle Toplink and Hibernate ....which provide Object to relation mapping layers.
Any queries ...revert back to me...

Our company has developed an Web Application and we are also looking out for the development of reports using Business Objects Exterprise XI Release 2 and for this purporse I do require some help from the forum who can literally show me how to get on and working on creating the reports.
Thats why I thought I should make the following chain in the keystore, possibly in this order.
1. My private key (simply generated in the server)
2. Import Root certificates from NS
3. Import Trusted certificate issued by NS
Then when I sign with my private key surely an association will be formed to the trusted authority certificate. The problem I'm having is when I first made my private key I used openSSL as it was only intended for HTTPS. Now I need to create a keystore so I can use jarsigner to sign the jar file, and I can't see how to create a keystore using my existing private key. Surely if I created a new key and self sign, then import the trusted certificate the association will fail, as the private key will not be the same 1 that I used to make the CSR when applying for the trusted certificate. -

Please help.
I have two problems.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
1. I need to query database through JDBC (which is easy) using servlet or JSP and then create a report in pdf format (which I do not know how to). If anyone knows how to create a report in pdf format, I would highly appreciate.
2. I need to generate charts and embed them in these reports. I do not know how to make charts. If anyone knows and helps me out, I would highly appreciate. I have to make charts and embed them in the pdf reports.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Can someone pls Help me: How to create a Fake target table(Dummy) in DAC
Hi There,
Can someone pls Help me in creating a Fake target table(Dummy) in DAC?
Thanks,
RaghuRaghu
You need to create a task so that you can hook sources and targets together.
First, Design --> Tables tab --> New --> Below 'Edit' -->Table Type (Source) for your source tables.
Design --> Tables tab --> New --> Below 'Edit' -->Check warehouse and Table Type (Fact or Fact Temporary) for your target tables.
Points if helpful

How to create report from Oracle Forms 9i chart?
Hi all,
I am new to Forms and Reports 9i. I need to create a chart (let's say it contains customer name on axis X and total sales for this customer on axis Y). Is it possible to get report with details for particular customer by clicking on the chart's bar for this customer and if so, what is the way of doing it?
Thanks in advance for any help givenLarisa,
yes, you can. When selecting a chart item in Forms, you retrieve e.g. the username (or something similar unique) and then call Reports e.g. using a Run_Report_Object() call, passing the username as a Reports parameter.

How to create partition from one table to another?
Hi,
Can any one help me in this :
I have copied table from one schema to another by using the following command. The table is around 300 GB in size and the partitions are not copied. Now i got a request to create partitions in the destination table similar to the source table.
CREATE TABLE user2.table_name AS SELECT * FROM user1.table_name;
I am using Oracle 9i database. This is very urgent, could any one please suggest me how can i create the partitions in user2 table as user1 table. If you have the TOAD/ SQL DEVELOPER , get the partition DDL from the source table and execute it in the newly created table.
or you can use DBMS_METADATA:
SET LONG 10000
SELECT dbms_metadata.get_ddl('TABLE', 'TEST')
FROM DUAL;
Thanks,

How to create XML from relational tables based on an XML Schema ?
There is no automated way in Oracle XML DB to define an automatic mapping between a set of columns in some existing relational tables and the elements and attributres defined by an XML Schema.
However it is easy solve this problem by using the SQL/XML operators (XMLAGG, XMLELEMENT, XMLFOREST, XMLATTRIBUTES, etc) to generate XML documents that are compliant with an XML Schema directly from a SQL statement.
If the XML Schema is registered with Oracle XML DB and the appropraite Schema Location information is added into the generated document using XMLAttributes then it becomes very easy to ensure that the generated documents are valid.
The following example show an easy way to do this by creating an XML View that contains the documents to be validated.

SQL>There is no automated way in Oracle XML DB to define an automatic mapping between a set of columns in some existing relational tables and the elements and attributres defined by an XML Schema.

How to create Reports in SBO?
Hello,
I am trying to generate reports in SBO.
Can someone direct me to related documentation or demos? Where i could get the basic understanding of reports in SBO.
How can i add a report to the Layout Designer?
Can we generate report based on multiple queries?
Thanks and Regards,
SheetalOkay. I need to be a little more specific.
I know how to create reports from the query manager. This process is fairly straightfoward. Once you have created a query, you can create a report using this query.
What I am trying to accomplish is to add a new report for A/R invoice. Currently, it shows two report types (for the demo database):
1. Invoice - Service with logo
2. Invoice - Service (system)
I would like to add one more report type to this list. However, I cannot figure out how to do this.
Thank you in advance for your help.

How to generate a report from crm table to find out user status changes
Dear all,
Could you please help me on generating a report from SAP CRM table level
to find out user status changes in crm orders for a specific period of time?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
ShaikHi Shaik.
You would not need to write report for this. You need to create a Table view mainenance for the CRMD_ORDERADM_H or CRMD_ORDERADM_I for whichever you need.
Follow the below or search on google for more on table view maintenance.
Go to SE11, give the table name and click on change. Then Go to utilities--> Table maintenance generator.
In the table maintenance generator screen, you should give Authorization Group,
Function Group name (Function Group name can be same as table name),
Maintenance type can be one step or two step, usually you will create with one
step. You should give maintenance screen number. After clicking on create button,
a table maintenance generator will be created.
To check it go to SM30 . In SM30, you find display, Maintain options.
You can view the table contents by choosing Display and supplying the selection criteria of dates.
