Help me to call method in the listener
Hi all,
I have a class called A, and have a mouselistener (or anythink) in this. In this listener I want to call a method of class A. I don't use like this "this.method" in the mouselistener because "this" is refer to mouselistener, don't refer to class A.
Can any one can tell me how I slove this problem.
Thanks for your help in advance,
example :
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
public class TestFrame extends JFrame
public TestFrame()
super();
initComponent();
protected void initComponent()
JButton button = new JButton("Test");
button.addActionListener(new MyActionListener());
Container c = getContentPane();
c.add(button, BorderLayout.SOUTH);
setSize(200, 200);
public void doSomething()
getContentPane().add(new Label("Test"), BorderLayout.CENTER);
validate();
public class MyActionListener implements ActionListener
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
doSomething();
public static void main(String [] args)
new TestFrame().setVisible(true);

hi all expert,
I have a program having code structure as following:
public class A {
public void methodA {

//I don't do like this: this.methodA because "this" is refer to mltree
Anyone can help me,
thanks verry much for your help in advance
}That's unnecessary code, when you could just do this:public class A

MouseListener mltree = new MouseAdapter(){
//I don't do like this: this.methodA because "this" is refer to mltree
A.this.methodA();}; -

To call methods inside the same application is possible to use RMI ?
hello,
What I should like to know is if RMI can easily be used to implement comunication (calling methods) inside classes that are part of the one same application... This should be a restrict case to use RMI...
The reason to do it come from the need to use the instance of a class knonwing it only as Object... This can be good to do if some code is used for general pupose in many different contexts.
In this case you can pass to the "server class" a parameter 'o' of type Object (all the classes extend Object) of the "customer class" to get back informations if some elaboration happen inside the "server class"...
This purpose is generally implemented with event listeners, but perhaps it could be done easily using RMI too (I dont know it...).
Using RMI in this simple situation, don't should require anything of complicate (stub, .... mashalling parametres....) to have the reference to method of the "customer class" to call. The "server class" already recives a reference of the "customer class" how parameter of type Object, and the mame of the method too.
I propose a simple thoeric example to explain really what I said before:
Class Server {
String methodName;
Object obj;
pubic Server( Oject o , String metName){ // constructor
obj = o;
methodName = metName;
// some thing is done and, at last, the method callbakMethod() is executed
callbakMethod();
}// constructor
public void callbakMethod(){ // this method have the purpose to call customerMethod()
Class c = owner.getClass();
Method m = null;
try {
m = c.getMethod("callBackMethod",null);
* // (1)
// I think that here we could have the possibility to call
// the method customerMethod() belonging to class Customer..
// I don't know if it possible and ... (and if it is possible) I am not able to do it*
}// callbakMethod()
} // class Server
Class Custmer{
public Customer() { // constructor
Server s = new Server (this, "customerMethod");
} // constructor
customerMethod() { // I would this method is called from class Server
// do some thing.....
} //customerMethod
} // class CustomerMy ask is: it is possible to call customerMethod() from the Server class ?...
If the aswer is yes, I wold know the sintax to use to do it, please.
thank you
regards
tonyMrsangeloRMI doesn't help you in the slightest here. You can just realize it all using local method invocation. All RMI does is to make that remote. If the objects aren't remote there is no point.

How do I call methods with the same name from different classes
I have a user class which needs to make calls to methods with the same name but to ojects of a different type.
My User class will create an object of type MyDAO or of type RemoteDAO.
The RemoteDAO class is simply a wrapper class around a MyDAO object type to allow a MyDAO object to be accessed remotely. Note the interface MyInterface which MyDAO must implement cannot throw RemoteExceptions.
Problem is I have ended up with 2 identical User classes which only differ in the type of object they make calls to, method names and functionality are identical.
Is there any way I can get around this problem?
Thanks ... J
My classes are defined as followes
interface MyInterface{
//Does not and CANNOT declare to throw any exceptions
public String sayHello();
class MyDAO implements MyInterface{
public String sayHello(){
return ("Hello from DAO");
interface RemoteDAO extends java.rmi.Remote{
public String sayHello() throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
class RemoteDAOImpl extends UnicastRemoteObject implements RemoteDAO{
MyDAO dao = new MyDAO();
public String sayHello() throws java.rmi.RemoteException{
return dao.sayHello();
class User{
//MyDAO dao = new MyDAO();
//OR
RemoteDAO dao = new RemoteDAO();
public void callDAO(){
try{
System.out.println( dao.sayHello() );
catch( Exception e ){
}>
That's only a good idea if the semantics of sayHello
as defined in MyInterface suggest that a
RemoteException could occur. If not, then you're
designing the interface to suit the way the
implementing classes will be written, which smells.
:-)But in practice you can't make a call which can be handled either remotely or locally without, at some point, dealing with the RemoteException.
Therefore either RemoteException must be part of the interface or (an this is probably more satisfactory) you don't use the remote interface directly, but MyInterface is implemented by a wrapper class which deals with the exception. -
Need help. Scheduled backup is killing the listener
I'm not sure what is going on. I scheduled a backup through the OEM and when the job kicked off, it shut down the listner, or killed it. The problem is that our startup/shutdown routines use the listener as a dependency, so when the listener dies, other Oracle servers also are shut down.
This server is in NOARCHIVELOG mode, so the backup has to happen offline, which I assumed meant simply shutting the database down, backing up and reopening it.
The main problem is that I can't seem to find the scheduled job, so everytime I restart the server, the job attempts to start again and kills the listener. I've done some searching, but I can't find the exact query/script to kill any scheduled backup job.Is there software I can use to repair the boot record on my external HD?

Need help with project (calling methods) please!!
Hi there i have a project for uni requiring me to create a java program that creates a random No. and lets the user have three guesses to find the No. When the users guesses correct he gets a message telling him hes won and if he doesnt get it correct he gets a message telling him the correct No then terminates.
The code has to call an outside method called[b] Public Static Boolean CheckGuess
I have tried to create this and got it to compile with no errors (eventually) but i keep getting a message saying i have whenever i type any number in. I think the problem is the way i am calling the method i havnt got much experience this is all pretty new to me any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.
import javax.swing.*;
import java.util.*;
public class Coursework1{
public static void main(String args[]){
int randomnumber,usersguessint,checkguess,guessvalid,attempts;
String usersguess,output;
boolean match;
//create random number generator
Random numGenerator = new Random();
//generate a random number between 1 & 10 inclusive
randomnumber = Math.abs(numGenerator.nextInt(9))+1;
//initialize variable attempts
for ( attempts = 0; attempts < 3; attempts++ ) {
//ask user for his first guess
usersguess=JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Please enter your guess between 1 & 10");
//convert users guess to integer
usersguessint = Integer.parseInt(usersguess);
//validate input
while (usersguessint<1||usersguessint>10){
usersguess=JOptionPane.showInputDialog("You entered an incorrect number \nPlease enter a numberbetween 1 & 10");
//convert users guess to integer
usersguessint = Integer.parseInt(usersguess);
} //end while loop
//call boolean method
if (match=true){
//display text area in JoptionPane
output="You won";
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,output,"You Won",JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
break;}
else{
output="Try again";
JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Try again");
} //end if
} //end for
}//end main
//user defined method
public static boolean checkGuess(int usersguessint,int randomnumber){
boolean match = false;
if (usersguessint == randomnumber){
match = true;
return match;
}//end method
}//endclassThank you very much that worked a treat the program is working better now. I have just realised that my for loopcontaining my counter may be in the wrong place as the program is running though both messages 3 times e.g
"Please enter your guess between 1 & 10"
"Try again"
"Please enter your guess between 1 & 10"
"Try again"
"Please enter your guess between 1 & 10"
"Try again"
"Please enter your guess between 1 & 10"
"Try again"
I want my program to run like
"Please enter your guess between 1 & 10"
"Try again"
"Try again"
"Try again"
Do u think if i placed my for stament (counter) in between the two messages it would eliminate this problem. -
How to retrieve the calling method
Hi all,
Is there anyway I can get the calling method from the method I am currently in e.g.:
thisclass..setup().getText()
and in getText can I check to see which method has called it?
Thanks in advance.You can extend SecurityManager to get an array containing the class context (just the calling class, not the calling method), or you can create a Throwable and get an array containing a trace of the stack.

Can a WAR call methods in a 'Parent' jar?
With oc4j, can I designate a jar containing ejb's (2.1) as a parent of a war file that has servlets which call methods on the ejb (via jndi lookup)? I want to accomplish this without an ear.
I am considering migrating from JBoss and for some reason JBoss let's me get away with this. This would ease migration substantially.
Thank you all;
natI have a question here..
Will reconfiguring iAS to use J2SE 1.4 conflict with Oracle Portal (9.0.4). I mean we have everything running smooth for Portal so we want to make sure that reconfiguring iAS for J2SE 1.4 won't have any affect on Portal.
I hope you can reply me on this or refer me to some other document.
Thanks in advance. -
Action method called before the listener
hi all;
i have a command_link as follows:
<h:command_link action="#{someBean.someMethod}" >
<f:parameter name="param" value="0"/>
<h:output_text value="#{someBean.someProperty}"/>
<f:action_listener type="com.myListener" />
</h:command_link>
my problem is that the listener is called AFTER the bean method is called. i need my bean to use data that is set by the listener so i need the listener to be called BEFORE that method.
on EA4 i used the getPhaseID but now its gone and i cant seem to find the proper replacement.
i tried the immediate="true" attribute on the command_link with no success, the results were the same.
any help is appreciated.I believe that what's really going on here is that
"action" should always be processed after all action
listeners, when, in fact, it's always processed first.
I'll raise this on the EG.
AIUI it's even more confusing than your description implies. There seem to be three things
that can be triggered from a <command_button> or <command_link>:
1. ActionListeners registered using a nested <action_listener> tag.
2. An action listener method declared using the actionlistener attribute.
3. An action method declared using the action attribute.
I don't think the spec defines a relative ordering for all of these possible event handlers, but I
think it works like this:
A. All the action listeners are called in an undefined order. This takes care of all those in
category (1) above. Since one of the listeners is the system-defined default listener,
at some point during this processing, the action method (which is REALLY the application code)
is also called. However, since the spec is vague, you don't really know where this happens relative to
the other listeners.
B. The method referred by the actionlistener attribute in category 2 above is called.
I would have thought that the most intuitive order would be:
1. All of the action listeners, whether added using <action_listener> or declared using the
actionlistener attribute.
2. The method referred to by the action attribute (i.e. the real application code).
I think the current implementation, where (2) is done by a system-defined actionlistener, gets in the
way of achieving this, and that would have to change in order to produce a well-defined result. -
How to call a method when the browser is closing
Hello,
In my application I need to execute a specific treatment when the WD4A application is closing. So how can we have a handle method for this specific event.
I've seen some documentation about the "exit plugs" , and about the doonclose method of the window.. but I don't think it can be useable for me in this case.
Can you please help me
Thanks in Advance
HamzaI wrote an insert into the method i set up a break point, the program never call this code and therefore, the new row is never inserted.
But i think, it's a misunderstand.
to summarize :
I have an application in WD4A
The application is running, and then I decide to close the browser (in my case internet explorer) and before the browser close I want to execute a piece of code.
If the method wddoonclose is to be used, is there any default handler or listener to trigger it automatically on the browser closing ?
If no, how to trigger a method base on this special event .
Thx

How to call a bean method in the faces-config file?
Hi,
I would like in my menu to call the method of a bean (it initialize some properties before opening the page) instead of opening directly the page, by I can't find how to do that.
I tried :
<managed-property>
<property-name>viewId</property-name>
<value>#{listInformationsController.listInformations}</value>
</managed-property>
And :
<managed-property>
<property-name>outcome</property-name>
<value>#{listInformationsController.listInformations}</value>
</managed-property>
With no success...
Can someone help me?
Thank you and merry christmas !Hi,
a managed property only gives you a anlde to a bean or property, it doesn't execute it. To execute a bean, you can use a custom JSF PhaseListener that calls a bean method. The reference to the bean is achieve through value binding
ValueBinding vb = FacesContect.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().createValueBinding("Name of Managed Bean);
TypeOfBean theBean =(TypeOfBean) vb.getValue(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance());
.... theBean.theMethod() ...

How to acess a value of variable(calling prg) inside the methods of a class
Hi SapAll.
i wrote a program where i need to acess a value of a variable inside the class method.
for eg:
CALL METHOD gcl_utl_app_log->display_log
EXPORTING
it_edidc = lt_edidc
it_msg = lt_msg.
while debugging under the method 'DISPLAY_LOG' when i want to acess a value of a variable (calling program) i cont get that value but i can acess the value of the variable just before the CALL METHOD statement.
so can any body help me in finding the solution for this.
regards.
VarmaHi jhings.
i have delcared the variable in the main program like below
main program
PERFORM populate_z1edrmdseqnr01.
FORM populate_z1edrmdseqnr01 .
other code
CALL FUNCTION 'NUMBER_GET_NEXT'
EXPORTING
nr_range_nr = gv_number_nr
object = lv_obj
IMPORTING
number = gv_nextno
move gv_nextno to gv_seqno.
EXPORT gv_seqno to memory ID 'MEM1'.
PERFORM FORM application_log.
FORM application_log.
CALL METHOD gcl_utl_app_log->display_log
EXPORTING
it_edidc = lt_edidc
it_msg = lt_msg.
