Help! My iTunes keeps closing

I cannot go to the store in iTunes without receiving a message that iTunes has stopped working.

Me too. Tried everything I could think of - restarting the computer, repairing iTunes, uninstalling and re-installing. Nothing worked.

Help!! Itunes keeps closing straight away and message states 'windows has detected a problem' HELP ASAP PLEASE!!!!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • My itunes keeps closing

My itunes keeps closing, i have tryed uninstalling and reinstalling.
its says itunes has encountered a problem and windows can not find a solution.
    Please can someone help
    thanks

    Hello Rhys Eyre,
You can upgrade to OS X v.10.6.8 (if you still use 10.6.5). We don't know yet if Lion is required to install Montain Lion.
    For your iTunes problem :
    - Did you try to repair the permissions (with Disk Utility in your Applications > Utilities folder) ?
    - Do you have the last version of iTunes (v. 10.6) ?
If not, you can dowload it here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    - You can try to delete iTunes' preferences, to do that go to yourusername > Library > Preferences and delete every file that contains the name iTunes.
    Hope this will help.

  • ITunes keeps closing when I try to resore my new iPod. Help!

    Hi all,
    I'm running a iBook G4 and I've just bought a brand-new iPod.
It all seemed to work alright, but loads of the album artwork on the iPod doesn't match the song, and it's driving me insane, so I decided to wipe the iPod and start over.
BUT, whenever I connect the iPod and click 'Restore' in the iTunes menu, iTunes just closes. Gone. Nothing.
So I can't update the iPod. Also, whenever I click any other part of iTunes, it also disappears.
Anybody got any advice? It's really driving me mad now, I don't know what else to try...
(Oh, also, my new iPod volume bar doesn't appear when I change the volume - surely this isn't right?!)

My new 80GB iPod is doing the same thing. I can't click on anything other than the summary, or iTunes crashes. This happens most of the time, but not quite every time, which makes things even more mysterious. When I do manage to click on something other than the summary, all of the songs under the iPod are grayed out, and it won't let me manually manage them, even though I have that option selected. This has been happening on an eMac running 10.4 with iTunes 7.0.2. When I tried with my dad's powerbook, it didn't happen (also 10.4 with iTunes 7.0.2), but I only tried it once.

  • My iTunes keeps closing unexpectedly

This happens whenever I refresh my podcasts.
I thought it could be solved with a software update, but that's not working either (I can't install it).
    Can someone help me?

Try looking for and removing older iTunes plug-ins, you can use this Apple doc as a guide -> iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
If it still happens, try re-creating the iTunes library.

  • Why does my itunes keep closing after i try to play a tv show?

Recently I updated my iTunes, and since then the program will become sometimey (excuse the word) with launching at all, and when iTunes does decide to open, it will immediately say it cannot connect to the iTunes store.  At this point I will close iTunes and reopen it and things will be ok in that aspect, but when I go to play a video or a tv show it always says this program is not working and will have to be closed...or something similar to that warning.  I have no choice but to close the program.
I have unintalled iTunes and reinstalled, and still I get the same problem.  I've even tried to run a repair.
    Any other suggestions?

Let's try the following user tip with that one:

  • HELP! iTunes keeps crashing

    Dear Forum,
Please help! When I launch iTunes in Windows XP pro, I get an error message, "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and that's it. No clue as to what the "problem" is.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, and I got this message: "32bit DIFx Driver Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Then it apparently finished installing, but the same problem as above kept occurring.
I even did a system restore to a couple days earlier. No luck.
Just before the problem started, I deleted a bunch of spyware programs. No idea whether this might be related.
Any ideas? Windows media player still works (yuk!), and my other audio programs work (e.g., WavePad audio editor).
    Thank you!
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
What security software do you have running on the PC?
If you haven't already, try to reconfigure, temporarily disable, or uninstall the security software as suggested here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125.
If the issue persists after ruling out the security software, try the general troubleshooting tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1421.

  • Help! iTunes keeps losing library on Vista

Just changed my laptop from XP to Vista
I installed the iTunes, but No matter how I import songs or list, the library and the list keeps losing when I restart the iTunes. Believe me I have reinstalled the itunes and everythng.
I didnt just import the list from my old computer but I did drag and drop and make lists again manually!
Anyone knows how I can fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

Not sure from your post, but if the file or folder was read-only, then you need to change this attribute FIRST.
Once corrected, any future changes you make within iTunes should be kept and reflected the next time you open iTunes.
iTunes needs to write the Library files to your PC when iTunes closes, so it can read them the next time you open iTunes.
Test this by making some changes to your Library (i.e. - re-import it). Make one simple playlist. Close iTunes. Then re-open iTunes. If your Library reflects the changes you just made, you may have solved your issue.
    Best of Luck
