Help needed in designing the Web Service Interface

Hi,
In have a scenario where a client will be sending an XML file , which is a SOAP message to a webservice. I would like to know what the input datatype for this interface would be?
Is the following correct?
interface MyWebService{
public String recieveMessage(String aSOAPMessage);
Also once I get the SOAP message what is the best way to parse or iterate through its contents.
Any pointers or examples would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Murtuza

  • Help needed with flash and web service call

    Hi all,
    I need some help with web services and flash. I'm very new to flash, so please have that in the back of your mind when reading this :-)
    I've got a .swf file, and I would like to display a number received from a web service (using adobe flash professional cs5). Ive added the web service and provided the WSDL, but when i try to "Add Method Call", nothing happens. Why? What am I doing wrong?
    Hope someone can help

    start with the button that causes the text to be displayed.  find what it does (which may not be easy because most templates are coded by novice or intermediate level coders) and follow that trail to the text.  (note:  the text may be in a txt or xml file that's loaded.)
    to have a button release open a file, use:
    yourbtn.onRelease=function(){
    getURL("http://www.adobe.com");

  • Help needed in calling a Web service

    Hi,
    I want to call a web service from my component. The called web service might have different names, therefore I don't want to use the proxy class way.
    I am facing problem in parsing the input parameters from the wsdl file. I have attached the wsdl file at the end.
    I am using the javax.wsdl.xml.WSDLReader(axis). I have been able to parse all the bindings, ports and messages but
    1. i am not able to parse the wsdl:types to obtain the input parameters
    //javax.wsdl.Operation op obtained from the port which alternatively obtained from Definition
    Message inputs = op.getInput().getMessage();
    Part part = null;
    // let's find the input params
    Map inputParts = inputs.getParts();
    // create the object array which Axis will use to pass in the parameters
    inputParams = new Object[inputParts.size()];
    s = inputParts.keySet();
    it = s.iterator();
    int i = 0;
    while(it.hasNext())
    part = (Part) inputParts.get(it.next());
    Afetr performing this, i have no clue as to how to parse the input parameters.
    2. How will i generate the java Objects array from these input parameters to pass to the Call.invoke function, i.e.
    Call call = (Call) service.createCall();
    call.setOperation(portQN, operationName);
    Object ret = (Integer) call.invoke(inputParams);
    The function takes an object[] as input but since i have complex types involved in wsdl, so how will this object array needs to be populated

  • Help needs to build this web service and do this exercise

    **i'm a newbie to java. can anybody give me a help here.**
    Exercises :
    1) Develop customer profile web service as below: which having two methods saveCustomer and retrieveCustomer
    Customer infomation data structure as follows
    CustomerID :string
    Name :string
    phoneNumber : int
    Address : Object which contain(home number(int), street(string), town(string))- Complex type object
    Age: int
    LastBalance: double
    Ex1:
    you send the SOAP request (in your web service call) with customer id or phone number the web service should return customer information and display as system out.
    Note Just hard code customer dummy data inside web service method call getCustomerData which return the customer object.
    Ex2
    Compose customer object (java object) in client side and send via web service using web service save method to write to a data to text file in server side (in your case same machine , but it create by customer profile web service not the web service client)
    Objective of this exercise is to understand web service / soap complex and simple variable types and how to exchange those with SOAP request and response.
    Exercise 3:
    send some wrong customer id or phone number as input to webservice method "retrieveCustomer" and generate error and send it via SOAP fault to client and display it

    ok thanks any way. i hav done most of the exercise. don't know wthr the appraoch is correct or incorrect. i'll post what i have done up to now.

  • Help needed on designing the structure of a flash game

    Hi,
    I am studying the codes from http://www.emanueleferonato.com/2009/01/16/designing-the-structure-of-a-flash-game-as3-ver sion-part-3/. What I don't get is at level_selection.as. Where does main_menu_button come from? I can't find where it has been created. I only see main_menu, not main_menu_button.
    Please help.

    The codes in level_selection.as looks like this, but the problem is I cannot find main_menu_button anywhere, except for main_menu.
    package {
        import flash.display.Sprite;
        import flash.events.MouseEvent;
        import flash.display.SimpleButton;
        public class level_selection extends Sprite {
            public var main_class:the_game;
            private var level_thumb:level_thumbnail;
            public function level_selection(passed_class:the_game) {
                main_class = passed_class;
                for (var i:int = 1; i<=5; i++) {
                    level_thumb = new level_thumbnail(i,main_class);
                    addChild(level_thumb);
                main_menu_button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, on_main_menu_button_clicked);
            public function on_main_menu_button_clicked(event:MouseEvent) {
                main_class.show_splash();

  • How to access the Web Service Browser

    Hi,
    I need to access the Web Service Browser to generate a Web Service Description.
    How can I do it?
    I use the follow url:
    http://<host_name>:<port_number>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/WebServiceBrowser/search.html?sap-client=<relevant_client>
    but I can't say how to determine values for the three placeholders.
    Help me please.
    THANKS

    Hi Andrea,
    you can access the web services in sap transaction SICF. Then right click on the
    service and choose "test". The hostname is the host on where the sap system
    runs.
    The port ´number can be seen in transaction SMICM -> shift + F1. Here you can see
    the portnumer assigned to the HTTP protocol.
    And the client is the sap client (standard client) for which the service is configured.
    Hope this helps.
    KR,
    Andreas

  • Help:  Exposing BAPI's as Web Services in WAS 6.20

    Hello,
    I'm very new to WAS and I don't have access to a development environment yet (network issues).  I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on the following:
    I'd like to expose certain BAPI's as Web Services in a way that my .NET client can talk SOAP directly to WAS 6.20 (without having to generate proxies). Is this possible?
    Also, is there a Web Service Creation Wizard in 6.20 that makes the process of exposing BAPI's simple, similar to the wizard in 6.40?  To date I've been able to navigate the BOR and generate WSDL for the BAPI's that I'm interested in however, this doesn't get me all the way there.  I'm looking for documentation on how to make the Web Service interface for those BAPI's generally available through WAS.
    I'll take anything at this point.  Even a pointer to some documentation.
    Thanks,
    Jay

    Hi Jay,
    Yes, it is possible in Web AS 6.20 to expose BAPIs as Web services. You find the exact documentation of how to do this in the SAP Service Marketplace: http://service.sap.com/connectors. Then go to "SOAP Processor" --> "Media Library". However, the wizard that helps you create the Web service is not yet available in 6.20.

  • Business Objects Web Service Interface for Scheduling (without Java SDK)

    Task:
    > use BO web service interface to schedule report generation and fetch job with generated PDF object without having to use Java (Webservice) SDK
    Detailed requirements:
    > get session ID : ok, session WSDL, <BO server alias>/dswsbobje/services/Session , method "session"
    > schedule a specific report : in general clear, via <BO server alias>/dswsbobje/services/BIPlatform, method "schedule"
    > set report format to "PDF": is that possible ? With which WSDL and method ?
    > schedule right now and only once: is that possible ? With which WSDL and method ?
    > can I provide a parameter value for that report ?
    > does schedule response contain jobID for later fetching of completed job ?
    > how to fetch scheduled job for check of completion ?
    > how to check status of job concerning completion ?
    > how to fetch created PDF from completed job ?
    With focus on my research (have checked and tested with soapUI), WSDL interface of BO seems not to be sufficient to fullfil the upper requirements, so I have to use BO Java SDK, which is powerful enough. Am I right ? Can you provide insights how to fullfil the requirements with the web service interface ? Would make whole implementation simpler (invocation from Tibco, ESB implementation).

    The error you're hitting is presumably JBO-25030.
    Look to the "merge" command. In the parent you specify just the key of the preexisting parent record, and then in the child you specify your new child record.

  • Errors when compiling the web service (SAP Web Service Design Tool)

    After downloading and installing the SAP de Web Service Design Tool (for Crystal Reports Server) I created a connection, a simple query and was able to deploy a web services. I tested the web service with an Xcelsius dashboard within InfoView. Thereafter I created a second connection (other name but same ODBC connection / server) and created another simple query with two date(range) parameters and a group by year and month function in order to do a select count(). It executes fine, but when I try to publish the web service I get an error.
    There are errors when compiling the web service.
    Is does not say whatu2019s wrong or how I can solve this problem.
    Who can help me?
    Some notes:
    1) Within expert mode I used a MONTH() SQL function which does not show in the normal mode.
    2) It seams that the u2018administrationu2019 of Web Service Design Tool got u2018corruptedu2019 after only creating the two connections, queries and services mentioned above. I believe so because I could select one of two queries when I created the second service, but within the current connection I had only one query.
    Thanks for any help,
    Ron
    ADDITIONAL INFO: The parameters seam to be the problem. After removing the parameters I can publish the service. But without parameters it is NO SOLOTION.

    Hello Taylan,
    I think the error that you received was due to packaging issues.I placed the
    UtilClass.java file under a directory called data which was present under
    the project directory.
    When you want to access a java class, you can either place the compiled
    class file in the WEB-INF/classes folder or you can place the java file
    under the project directory.
    I have attached the sample project that I created with your files.
    Let me know if you have any other questions.

    This thread will soon be locked. You are replying to a topic which is -years- old, the person you demand help from is not going to see your cry for help.
    Create a new thread and post all relevant information that you have, including exception stacktraces that you are getting. But before that you should take a big hint from this thread; the OP found a solution. This means you should be able to find one too, if you take the time to look for it. a Google search on parts of the exception stacktrace usually lead to the answer very quickly.

  • Problems using LiveCycle Designer and Web Services

    Hi there.
    I've just finished reading all the 485 post in this forum, and I've already looked at all the samples and FAQ's, but I still I have the same problem, and it seems I'm not the only one. Here goes:
    I have a .NET Web Service that exposes three methods: one that indicates which PDF to open, one to pre-populate some of the fields of the form and another one to handle the submitted form.
    The first method is called within my asp.net web application and simply determines which pdf form to open in a given context. This one is cool and I have no problems here.
    The second method populates my pdf form. But here starts the trouble. I can't seem to make the pdf call the web service when it is loaded. I mean, what I want is to tell the pdf form that when he loads (and before he shows on the browser), he should call the web service method that pre-populates him. But I can't seem to be able to do this. I've seen JimmiPham's CheckCreditCard.pdf sample, but what he does is call the web service upon a click on the button. What I wanted is similar but on the load of the form. I've added the following line of javascript code to the initialize method of a textbox:
    msg.rawValue = xfa.connectionSet.conn.execute(0);
    where msg is the textbox and conn is the name of my connection. I've used this code based on the sample of the designer help. I've also tried to drag and drop the button from the dataview (the one that is automatically generated) but it wont work. If I press it it gives me an error stating that there was an error attempting to read the web service file (*.asmx).
    I've also tried to drag and drop the textbox in the generated web service response (in the dataview) but nothing works.
    Does anyone have any ideas of what am I doing wrong? This is my first contact with this technology, and I really don't know very well how to manipulate it...
    Regards.

    Hi Jimmy.<br /><br />Thanks for the help.<br />I'm getting really desperate now. Your sample doesn't work. However I have some more info that might bring some light into the fight...<br />I've seen your sample (awesome work), tried it and saved it. Then I opened it with designer 7.0 and checked the code in the click event of the button.<br />Then I copied/pasted your code into my form. I dragged a text box and a button into my form and left them with the default names (TextBox1 and Button1). In the click event of Button1 I've pasted your code and then changed the parts I wanted, as follows:<br /><br />----- form1.#subform[0].Button1::click - (JavaScript, client) --------------------------------------<br />var cWSURL = "http://localhost/SIIOP.PDFManager/PDFManager.asmx?WSDL";<br /><br />app.alert("Setup webservicex PopulatePDF Interface using WSDL URL: \"" + cWSURL + "\"\n");<br /><br />SOAP.wiredump = true;<br /><br />var service = SOAP.connect(cWSURL);<br /><br />if(typeof service != "object")<br />     app.alert("Couldn't get PopulatePDF WSDL object");<br /><br />if(service.PopulatePDF == "undefined")<br />     app.alert("Couldn't get webservicex.PopulatePDF Call");<br /><br />var e;<br /><br />// I need no parameters<br />//var param =<br />//{<br />//    "CardNumber": xfa.resolveNode("CardNumber").rawValue<br />//};<br /><br />try<br />{<br />    app.alert("Make PopulatePDF SOAP call");<br />     <br />//     var result = service.CheckCC(param);<br />     var result = service.PopulatePDF();<br /><br />     if((result == "") || (result == null))  {<br />          app.alert("WebService PopulatePDF returns nothing");<br />         result = "<no results returned>";<br />          }<br /><br />function dump(obj)<br />{<br /><br />    if(typeof obj == "object")<br />    {<br />        for(var i in obj)<br />        {<br />             app.alert("note1: " + i + " = " + obj[i]);<br />             if (i == "string")<br />               {<br />                    xfa.form.Page1.TextField1.rawValue = obj[i];<br />               }<br />          }<br />    }<br />    else app.alert("note2: " + i + " = " + obj[i]);<br />}<br /><br />dump(result);<br /><br />SOAP.wiredump = false;<br /><br />     //xfa.datasets.data.loadXML(result);<br />     //xfa.resolveNode("CardType").rawValue = result["urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-diffgram-v1diffgram"]["NewDataSet"]["Table"].CardTy pe;<br />     //xfa.resolveNode("CardValid").rawValue = result["urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-diffgram-v1diffgram"]["NewDataSet"]["Table"].CardVa lid;<br /><br />}<br />catch(e)<br />{<br />     app.alert("Problem with webservicex.PopulatePDF Call: " + e);<br />}<br /><br />I saved the form and opened it with internet explorer. When I press the button, I get the first alert stating that "Setup webservicex PopulatePDF Interface using WSDL URL: http://localhost/SIIOP.PDFManager/PDFManager.asmx?WSDL". That's correct.<br />Then I get an alert that says "Couldn't get PopulatePDF WSDL object", which means that he can't get the object. The result is undefined. But that's odd, since I can establish a data connection to this WSDL using the New Data Connection wizard, and in this wizard it even says which methods and actions the web service has...   • Unable to deserialize HTTP response content - SharePoint Designer Call Web Service Workflow Activity

    I am creating a workflow using SharePoint Designer 2013 and I'm using the call HTTP web service action.
    The web service call works (it is for a text messaging service, and I get the text message to my phone) however the workflow stops at this point with internal status "suspended" and gives the error message below when clicking on the "i"
    icon.
    I have tried setting the Accept and Content-Type request headers to "application/json; odata=verbose" (minus the quote marks) as other posts suggested but this doesn't make a difference (e.g. here: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/f0b18411-87d1-466b-aab0-1a0093605ed4/workflow-cannot-read-json-after-latest-sp15-patches?forum=sharepointdevelopment).
    I tried adding in the Content-Length header too but that made no difference.
    I tested calling another web service (https://sharepointurl/_api/contextinfo) and this works fine.
    Is there any way to get the workflow to accept this XML as the response? I don't actually really need anything out of the response content, but I do need the workflow to carry on after this step and carry out other activities after this call.
    Error message:

    hi,
    i am trying to initiate the helloWorld BPEL process through its web service interface. i use a proxy class that i wrote and i use it from J#.net.

    what is the problem? how come i can't initiate the process?
    i will be happy if i could get help..
    thanks in advance

    can you initate the process from the bpel console successfully?
    if so can you use obtunnel from the installation to trace the soap message (that goes over the wire), my best guess in this case is a problem with a header (holding the wsa information) ..
    after starting obtunnel it will liesten to a custom port, and will forward the request to the engine, so you need to point your client to this new port..

  • Web service interfaces for monitoring Hosts and instances with SAPHostControl, saphostexec and sapstartsrv

    Hi All,
    I need to develop a monitoring application for SAP system which will monitor both Host systems and instances.
    For this I need to collect Host data as well as instance data. In the below links I could find the SAP netweaver
    monitoring agents
    Monitoring Hosts with SAPHostControl and saphostexec - Infrastructure of the SAP NetWeaver Management Agents - SAP Libra…
    Central Monitoring with SAP NetWeaver Management Agents - Infrastructure of the SAP NetWeaver Management Agents - SAP Li…
    Administration/Monitoring of SAP Components with sapstartsrv - Infrastructure of the SAP NetWeaver Management Agents - S…
    These links tell that CCMS agent is replaced by these agents from SAP Netweaver 7.0 Eph 2.
    I found below doc which explains "How to use the SAPControl Web Service Interfaces" exposed by "sapstartsrv" to execute instance specific tasks,
    But it does not tells any methods/APIs/webservice interfaces specific to Host system or get OS data using "saposcol".
    SAP Control WebService
    Similar to this, Is there any API/webservice to retrieve the OS and Host related data??.
    Also, Is there any other doc for SAPHostControl or saphostexec similar to sapstartsrv ??
    Thanks,
    Swapnil

    Hi Swapnil,
    I too wanted this info and came across these.
    Take a look at these urls :-
    http://localhost:1128/SAPHostControl/?wsdl
    http://localhost:1128/SAPOscol/?wsdl
    grep saphost /etc/services
    saphostctrl     1128/tcp        # SAPHostControl over SOAP/HTTP
    saphostctrls    1129/tcp        # SAPHostControl over SOAP/HTTPS
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • Implement the web-service API on an external service desk

    Hi,
    I want to implement the web-service API on an external service desk
    system.
    I am working with the IMG and got to the point where I define a logical
    port. At this point I need the web-service to be implemented on the
    external system.
    I have web-service API documentation and also read note 962383 - but I
    did not find any specific instructions how to implement the web-service.
    Can you assist me with documentation for the web-service implementation
    on external system procedure?
    or if someone can share a step-by-step - it would be great.
    Thanks,
    Shelly

    Hello Shelly,
    Please use the following link to Read a blog Service Desk Implementation Guide Part II
    Service Desk Implementation Guide Part II
    This blog describes the following.
    1) Integrate New data in the Service Transaction
    2) Implement new action: send mail to creator on message modification.
    3) Configure an interface to an external service Desk
    4)Implement a new action that send the message to the external system and change automatically the status.
    Hope it helps.
    Cheers,
    Satish.
